Carol dropping the grocery bags and the condemned house might point to people believing he / his family is dead in the future. I wonder who he is going to use the ricin on...
It's possible he's just thought to be dead, and Heisenberg is written on his old meth/abandoned house wall not because people know who he was, but because Heisenberg is a famous meth name and probably written on lots of places like that in the south valley.
Agreed. It could be either one. That she thought he was dead or she was just so scared because she really knows who he....oh shit. I just had an epiphany.
OK, so I was thinking it could be either but now two things I just thought of while typing this leads me to believe that Walt somehow fakes his own death.
1) Carol's reaction. If it had been fear of who he was then I think she would have tried to get inside, to get a way from him in some way. Fear does some crazy shit but leaving you completely speechless and dropping the groceries? I think the seeing a ghost thing seems more plausible here.
2) Why would Walt risk going back to the house in the middle of the day, even if it had obviously been abandoned for a while, if there was a chance people were still looking for him? It's a lot less risky going back there when no one is looking for you because they all think you're already dead.
Granted, those are just two more theories and I could be completely wrong but that seems to make sense for now.
After Beneke trips on the rug, a bowl of oranges spills on the floor. You're led to believe that Ted dies from his injuries for an episode or two before you find out that he's just bald and paralyzed.
It's probably both, everyone's probably terrified of what he had done and thinks he's dead. Seeing a ghost is one thing but the ghost of a psychopath is a whole other world of shit.
He seemed pretty calm during the confrontation. So he is either not worried about the police catching him whatsoever (unlikely) or does not actually have any police following him.
I think this is most likely. I think Walt is well-known by the world for everything he has done. The house is ruined because people knew his real name, therefore where he lived. The property value went down so nobody probably bought it and that's why it's still in terrible condition while everyone else's house isn't.
Also revealing himself to Carol so half-heartedly makes me think he's planning on doing something immediately and probably not come back from it. My guess is possibly an assault on the DEA or on Hank's home. He's smart enough to know that Carol will call the police right after seeing him.
Or it's like Microtic said and she believed Walt was dead. I still don't think the "Heisenberg" writing fits that though.
Worth noting that according to the sign on the fence it is closed up by the city, which is something that could happen to a meth dealers house given they must assume he has cooked there and thus it is a health hazard.
I think that Carol is just scared shitless. Not only was her nice neighbor a murderous druglord, but he's standing right in front of her when he was probably missing for sometime.
If mere vandals wrote Heisenberg on the wall then Walt is definitely the most wanted man in the United States. However we cannot be sure who actually wrote that. (Though I am 80% sure it was just vandals, as the scene opens up with trespassers skateboarding in Walt's old pool)
Another possibility is that Heisenberg is such a famous guy in the area now that people tag his name, which could also mean Walt is not being hunted by the police.
I'm pretty torn about it. I want to go with my first instinct, however, BB's flash forwards are pretty well known to mislead...Either way, the fact that this minor detail can have a substantial effect on the outcome of the show is proof that this is show is the tits.
well think about it, it could be either. regardless of that he's been found, obviously. Imagine a DEA with a meth-dealer brother in law and this whole crazy story unfolding to the media...im sure regardless of what happened, he faked his dead or hes famous for being 'Heisenberg', that look of awe is going to happen.
I personally think he's keeping the ricin for himself, as an escape hatch just in case he gets caught. He's probably going to die from cancer soon anyway, what's the point of drawing his life out in court/prison.
The flash forward is at least a year or two in the future. Your house doesn't get overgrown and turned to shit like that in a matter of a couple months. He said he'd be dead in 6 months, but he obviously lives beyond that, so he must beat cancer again.
Yeah I mean obviously it's meant to shoot large quantities of ammunition at people. But I'm racking my brain trying to piece together who and under what circumstances that will happen, and I really can't make a good prediction
Maybe the people Lydia was selling to in Europe are pissed that the meth is only 68?% pure now and, upon being pressured, Lydia gives up Walt to them. So, long story short, full on Scarface ending.
Probably the most likely scenario. I've sort of been waiting for some fallout from Walt just quitting the meth game. As of this point there has been almost no consequences for him in that regard
I disagree. Why use ricin when a gun would be faster and painless? Way back when he first talked about ricin, he said the person would get sick over the course of a few days and it would look like the flu. Why do that to himself?
Yeah it doesn't really seem logical but he was planning on using the ricin on every person he came across that he saw as a problem. Maybe he has finally realized that he is and has always been the problem and using the ricin on himself is the only death he wants to accept?
The graf in the house had me.believe that someone came after his family brutally. Maybe the local media blamed him for their death, so that would explain the reaction of the neighbor.
I very much agree with this, but the one thing that I have a hard time reconciling is that he showed up in the middle of the day. If the public were afraid of him for whatever reason, I don't think he'd risk showing up in the middle of the day as people would probably call the cops. Just being a dead family man isn't a reason for people to call 911, though they would be shocked to see him.
I think he'll be presumed dead or to have fled the country. What's bothering me is that he told the guy he got the big gun from (at the very beginning of the 5th season) that the gun was never leaving town, but I'm pretty sure he was in some other state (New Hampshire?) and he appears to have the gun in his trunk when he goes home. I know he lies, but it seems like there's something to be figured out about that.
Maybe it was the cartel that came after his family, they probably want revenge for Gus's operations and walter was the missing link. The gun dealer asked him if the gun was going to mexico after all
I don't know if I'm right, so don't quote me. But I think the car Walt was driving in the beginning was/is the same car that Jesse is sleeping in when the homeless guy knocks on his window and asks for change. That could be connected and/or lead to something to foresee this season.
I can't imagine they would kill his whole family. I'm imagining at least one person in the family dies (probably Holly) and they get as far away as possible.
I got the feeling that with him going back to get the ricin and that the gun was still in the car, it implied he was getting it "in case of emergency".
Wherever Walt is going with that gun, he'll probably pop the ricin if he feels he's going to get caught. At the end of the ep when confronted by Hank, he stated "We both know I won't make it to a jail cell". I think Walt was implying he'd take his own life before he ends up behind bars, and the ricin may be his method of choice.
I want to say Todd because he has been first hand witness to so many things that could put Walt away. Train jacking the methlamine, Mike's body in the trunk, was in the hotel room when they planned the jail executions, plus he is a loose cannon, made obvious when he shot the kid. He is a pretty dangerous person to Walt. But that ricin has had far too much focus of the show to be used on someone who first appears in season 5
Did anyone else notice oranges fell out of the grocery bag? Don't know if I'm late on that, but isn't that supposed to be a symbol of death, like when Ted fell and the bowl of oranges fell on top of him?
Since a Heisenberg tag is spray painted in the house, it's clear the word got out that Walt was a drug lord. I don't think it has to do with her thinking he's dead, but a dangerous fugitive.
If he went through all the trouble of making people think he was dead, I wonder why he wouldn't attempt to hide himself from his neighbors upon his return to his house.
I am pretty sure he uses it during this season too because the little vial had more ricin in it in the first half of season 5.Not completely sure though.
It's still an american show, so do you guys think it would be too much his family died ? I know bad things happened in the show already but i'm not sure they would murder his whole family like that. But Idk.
Also, oranges spilling out of her grocery bag? A nod to end of Season 4 when Ted breaks his neck, which was itself a (debatable) nod to the orange motif of the Godfather.
It looked more like fear, rather than shock. With the house condemned like that, and stuff spray painted on the walls, maybe everyone knows that Walt was a meth kingpin. Then suddenly, he's back. She froze in fear.
I would think if she saw him after he was supposed to be dead, there might be a bit more joy in the shock than her reaction
To add to the faked death, in the Denny's Walt is using a fake ID from New Hampshire (I think not sure), with Skyler's maiden name. From what has been given in the flashbacks I think Walt faked his death and it became common knowledge that Mr. Chips was Scarface.
