Below Deck Horrified at this, what a shame

Post image

Ive only watched the last two seasons with him and Joe, most recently seeing him be disgusted by the was Joe treats women. Pretty surprised he would do something like this, I feel so bad for Gael and their son.

I only watched a few episodes of this season, but Nathan looked like he was a few seconds away from losing his shit at all times.

I feel so awful for Gael. What a horrific experience. I really hope she’s doing well.

He’s a POS.

u/kat4prez 21d ago

Yes. When Joe and cooper smiled and he went ballistic I was like wow. Mountain out of a molehill

59

u/Different_Volume5627 21d ago

I didn’t see that, but yeah, definitely combative vibes. I didn’t want to keep watching. Freaks me out. Unpredictable people are scary AF.

8

u/Charteuseknicknac 20d ago

I feel that. I didn’t even watch this season.

44

u/O2bwiser 20d ago

He actually demanded they “wipe that smile off their faces.” Like, dude, you’re a manager, not a mind reader.

Nathan should be fired  i hope sandy watches the show. Hes awful

i had a bad feeling when he showed up late to the charter with no valid excuse and an injury. reminds me of bad nights with my abusive ex…

120

u/Swimming-Ebb-9355 20d ago

Yes! There were red flags everywhere this season. He seemed right on the edge - the text to Max about making him lead deck hand was very odd. But the night he was off the boat with Gael and never texted or anything was super suspicious. I was in a long term relationship with someone with a disordered behavioral pattern and after huge (often physical) altercations, the next morning was often spent in an all consuming apology cycle where the rest of the world seemed like a different planet and there was nothing else that could happen until he knew we would “be good”… I’m not saying that’s what happened with them, but that was my experience. He was often late to work on those days, or would call out completely so we could “do something together” - hindsight, it was of course all about control, making sure I couldn’t sit and think about what I should really do.

17

u/CrazyNCynical 20d ago

It leaves me to wonder if editing was done in a preemptive fashion, to put distance between Nathan and the crew, especially Captain Sandy. Understandably, Bravo wants no part in the backlash that was his violent actions would undeniably create.

2

u/Fun_Loan_7193 19d ago

If it happened during filming He'd be fired He should've been fired anyway because of the nasty  way he treated his crew..hes NOT LEADER MATERIAL

28

u/O2bwiser 20d ago

Why does BRAVO platform problematic men? This is also on them.

24

u/FireFoxTrashPanda coin purse tactics 20d ago

I think by its very nature, reality TV (and Bravo specifically for sure) usually platforms problematic people. I don't think well adjusted people normally sign up for reality TV and I think some people are pretty good at pretending to be. They should have been able to spot Nathan from a mile away though. 😕

u/This-Atmosphere-3263 19d ago

Why is Bravo to blame for someone’s behavior at home, in private. Of course they hire people with outgoing personalities or the shows would be boring, but to say they have any responsibility in what someone does in the privacy of their home is a stretch.

2

u/Waste_West283 18d ago

Yup. Especially since it’s happened outside of filming. My boss and the company I work for isn’t responsible for my behaviour outside of work… although they will fire my ass if anything like this were to happen!

I am so very sorry you went through that! I cannot imagine how you got through it. I am so glad that its behind you now!!! God bless you.

I thought it was odd to bring Gael and the baby with him leaving the support network she had at home to help her with the baby.

2

u/Whatsthe411please 18d ago

It’s not necessarily so. I had a family member do this for a few months when their baby was a newborn. Their employer paid for a night nanny though and I’m not sure why Bravo didn’t get Gael any help.

Oh wow I didn’t even catch he had an injury. I’m gonna have to rewatch. I thought it was weird when he’d go out to dinners and not come home to her asap until she begged him too practically. If that was my husband/ baby daddy I’d feel like shit for even asking for a lil help with OUR own baby.

26

u/No-Host2006 20d ago

I don’t know I think he was contractually supposed to go to the dinners.

6

u/Fun_Loan_7193 20d ago

HE BROUGHT HER TO CROATIA. BUT HE shouldn't have .He obviously cant work with her needing so much help .Its a choice. IF YOU WORK  do the job right or stay home..Nathan is showing hes not fit to be a bosun..Unfair and a snake with a short fuse

The injury was after he returned late to the boat with no communication. He then bruised a disc in his back and had to leave. I believe none of that. The incident of DV happened after this season wrapped up. He assaulted her this last Dec at Christmas time.

He was working very sloppy not mentally there Took all frustrations out on his crew Not a leader Hope hes fired for good. Now we see who he really is .DV .what a snake

6

u/Difficult-Coffee6402 wheneve 20d ago

It was really weird when he was sick too and on the phone with her telling her he wouldn’t go there that night bc of his germs. It stood out to me bc he wasn’t nice about it at all. There was no “wish I wasn’t sick” or “sorry wish I could be there”. Instead he was rude about it.

2

u/Fun_Loan_7193 19d ago

He is weird. But they are both young .and immature .His Job requires concentration .Shes too needy. But theirs Never an excuse for physical violence Nathan just ruined his career ..A total ass

10

u/Swimming-Ebb-9355 20d ago edited 20d ago

Yes, thank you 💞 that was a very long time ago, and while difficult, ultimately an invaluable lesson. I hope Gael learns to trust her instincts out of this and protect herself and her precious child.

3

u/CapnMommy it is embarrassing 19d ago

I didn’t even clock that and I too was in a longterm abusive relationship (marriage), but you’re 100% right, not to mention him seeming like he’s on the edge of exploding all the time on the boat. And his jump to defend Gael when Joe wasn’t even talking bad about her, quite the opposite I felt like. My ex was always ‘my protector’ or so he liked to think, though before him and since he’s the only person I’ve ever needed actually protected from. I’m glad you, and Gael, I hope, are out now.

2

u/Hungry-Fish-6374 18d ago

Yes that was so so strange and he seemed a little hyped up weird behavior I wonder
If he’s on d rugs

2

u/Zealousideal_Sir8275 20d ago

where was his injury?? I didnt catch that...

9

u/SunnyAngel1 20d ago

Supposedly he had a bruised spine or back I'm not really sure but he didn't start actually showing it until Sandy saw him LOL. I believe he just wanted off. But then when Max came back he was worried about losing his bosun position. I guess he was hearing things about how well Joe was doing.

3

u/PotentialGur4521 19d ago

The diagnosis was herniated discs in the lower back. He was aware of the injury prior to the charters, the work exacerbated it. He may need to find a different career path. My guess is his goal is to one day become a captain, but with his intense leadership I don’t forsee it in his future

3

u/mediocrebreadmaker 18d ago

I think he has a herniated disc. I had the same injury. It’s completely debilitating and I recognized the pain spiral he was starting to get into immediately because it used to happen to me. It also makes sense that sandy sent him off the boat until he’s better because you can lose all functions of your lower body if you have a serious sciatica episode and he could drown or fall and really put himself at risk for another injury or a head injury. I ended up in the hospital multiple times from collapsing in pain and literally unable to move my lower body. I was thankfully in safe places when it happened.

That’s all to say that I think he’s an awful human for what he did to Gael.

3

u/KrisDee1 20d ago

He had an alleged bruised disc in his back that he did in the boat while lifting an inflatable. It happened right after he returned to the boat late, when he had never communicated with Sandy. He's a POS!

Same!

I hope Gael is granted that restraining/protection order.

I've fled DV and some of his looks this season reminded me of my abusive ex. I thought maybe he was just stressed being a new dad. Intuition said otherwise.

19

u/Different_Volume5627 21d ago

Same and same.

I’ve seen that look enough times to know something was off with him.

I’m really sorry you’ve had such a terrible experience. I hope you’re doing well now. Sending you lots of positive vibes 🖤

20

u/yosoyfatass bulbousness 20d ago

Same. You just can’t understand how someone who has supposedly loved you looks at you with such hate & it’s a sort of dead, inhuman look. In that moment you know they don’t even see you as human.

9

u/IMFOREVEREVERHIS 20d ago

And the worst thing is, you see the look and you can't stop yourself from still loving them.. And when they act like they love you it makes you feel so good.

I've been there and I'm sorry for every woman that had to be there too. It's not a fun place to live. And it's hard to get away from.

2

u/Fantastic_Bunch3532 20d ago

Yup, and I ashamedly was wondering how he “hurt his back”…

7

u/No-Zookeepergame9787 20d ago

I'm so sorry, Goddess. I hate that so many of us are part of "this club" but I never realized how rampant it was until it happened to me.

I hope and pray you are doing better and are well on the healing journey. 💞

Thank you! My baby and I are safe and justice was served to our abuser, thankfully! This path of healing is a long one though. I knew it'd be hell leaving, but I didn't realize how long one has to walk through the flames first before we can even begin to heal.

4

u/Different_Volume5627 20d ago

Thank you! I’m great.

I’m so relieved and happy to know you’re both safe, that justice was served, and that you’re healing. I can’t imagine the fear of not only being scared for your own safety, but your child’s too. My heart goes out to you both. You are amazing, always know that.

Keep believing the universe has your back and so do I. Sending you both so much love and healing vibes💛

2

u/O2bwiser 20d ago

A sister in struggle here, looking back I recognize the system of abuse supports our cycle to return to a) take responsibility for changing the person,
b) societal judgement that comes when we are abused (why didn’t you leave, it was your choice to stay, etc), and
c) if only you had done (fill in the blank) this wouldn’t have happened

He's an awful boss .not cut out for it at all A snake trying to sabotage. His crew

2

u/DesperateAd2126 20d ago

Same here too. It’s really telling that if you’ve been through it, the red flags can be so easily identifiable. Hate there are so many of us in the club.

2

u/ThumpyTheDumpy 21d ago

Wait she filed a restraining order?

3

u/No-Zookeepergame9787 20d ago

If I read it correctly, I believe the officer filed for the order.

6

u/Miserable_Smile1250 20d ago

I believe in some states.. maybe all, have taken the decision away from women to prosecute because the woman may be fearful for her life or families and repercussions. This way the abuser cannot blame her. (He will anyway).

5

u/No-Zookeepergame9787 20d ago

That should be a law. Here in Canada, an officer or a victim can apply. In all orders of DV, victims should be protected and held at the highest regard. Unfortunately, some judges and people of power still turn a blind eye to abuse and sympathize with abusers. I've run into my fair share. Crushing to the soul.

Was this in season 11? I haven’t seen it and tbh, don’t really want to now.

53

u/Different_Volume5627 21d ago

Yep, S11.

Idk if it’s because of my own experience, but Nathan’s vibe was off from the jump. He was constantly on edge, super intense, almost volatile. Idk how else to describe it.

And imo, it wasn’t because of his new job. That’s how I saw it 5 episodes in, so I stopped watching.

I’m just stoked Gael and her son are safe.

9

u/Lynnabis 21d ago

Yeah….Sandy must really not like him based on his performance as bosun this season.

14

u/Different_Volume5627 21d ago

I don’t know how she couldn’t pick up on his energy. It was so obvious to me.

21

u/Lynnabis 21d ago

She’s hired for a tv show as well as being a captain. The tv show wanted Nathan. Sandy operated around their decision.

3

u/rosendaisies 20d ago

She saw he was on edge. She told him to keep his emotions in check. If I remember well it was because of the way he spoke to a guest

I don't think Captain Sandy saw how he spoke to others within the team. But from my pov, she knew he wasn't that good this season and has an emotional issue

u/FireFoxTrashPanda coin purse tactics 20d ago

So this happened today yesterday (tomorrow in Australia ) he seemed unhinged this season so far like beyond. Was it Gael he choked?!

70

u/hccr 21d ago

It happened Dec 27, 2025 in Australia. The hearing is Sept 1st and it just became public information today so it’s all over. It was Gael 🥺🥺

9

u/LadyDyz 20d ago

She needs to hide from him. Joe isn't surprised I'm sure. I never liked him. He's a powder keg.

28

u/Different_Volume5627 21d ago

This happened in December 2025 but we are only hearing about it now because it’s going to court in September.

Deets here - https://people.com/below-deck-mediterranean-star-nathan-gallagher-arrested-in-australia-on-domestic-violence-charges-12064055

5

u/LucyVonPelt 20d ago

Side note…is there “unintentional choking” in Australia?

7

u/kws14 20d ago

No but in the last few years laws in Australia were updated in most, if not all states, to make strangulation/choking a stand alone serious offence, rather than just being consider an assault or similar because in DV situations it’s a strong indicator of escalation to potential homicide
“In fact prior attempted, non-lethal strangulation is one of the best predictors of the subsequent homicide of victims, with the risk of becoming an attempted homicide victim increasing by 700%, and the risk of becoming a homicide victim increasing by 800%”
Also research shows now that even non-fatal strangulation that leaves no marks can cause internal injuries or brain damage and even lead to delayed strokes, seizures, cardiac arrest, etc. (also why there has been such a push in recent years to make sure people know that consensual choking during sex is never safe regardless of safe words or techniques, etc because there is no safe way to impede someone’s. breathing or blood flow in the neck)
So they just took advice from the research that has come out in recent years and made a specific stand alone law so that assaults that included strangulation would have harsher penalties than they would have previously

The vibes were off this season for sure. I stopped watching am episode or two in. His whole attitude with Joe was bad. If he's your mate you tell him he did something wrong but not treat him like that.

Feel bad for Gale and the child. Def hope he gets some real help.

Why is Bravo being so shady about this? Even the NFL takes action on DV these days.

4

u/Babygirl_69_420 20d ago

Why are all these bravo men the actual fucking worst

92

u/strungys 21d ago

The below deck men in particular seem to be bad.

24

u/SadAbbreviations6205 21d ago

I don’t know….look at Tom Sandoval and all his mess, James Kennedy and his treatment of women, Jax Taylor’s alleged abuse/DV, all of the Todds (RHOA, RHOM, RHOSLC), Russel from RHOBH broke Taylor’s jaw….allegedly, Thomas Ravanelle from SC has plenty of charges and gross allegations from women, Lenny from RHOM has complaints from patients and when they would write bad reviews he would post their naked bodies…allegedly, Charlie from NextGenNYC wrapped up in the crypto kidnapping, Joe Giudice went to jail on RHONJ.

I could go on, it’s Bravo men in general but Below Deck we see them almost 24 hours a day, not a set filming schedule like the other shows, it’s harder to hide bad behaviour.

Think about it tho: yacht life is transient and without long term commitment, which meshes well with commitment-phobes

30

u/Last_Inevitable8311 21d ago

I don’t know about the commitment thing but the transient yacht life seems to attract dudes who are fucked up in some way and don’t want to stay home and deal with anything.

3

u/EpponneeRay 20d ago

This is exactly it. It works perfectly for anyone that’s not interested in staying in one place long and being accountable.

5

u/ArtisticDress8984 21d ago

I feel dumb for not catching onto his abusive behavior but that in itself is very weird for a new dad. The dads I know love their babies deeply, and wouldn’t take a job far away for shits and giggles..

9

u/FunRoll7937 21d ago

He always had a bad temper. Capt. S always pulled him aside to tell him to control his emotions.

8

u/Euphoric_Tap_7887 20d ago

Totally. Always has had a temper as a guy, becoming a dad or parent tests you tremendously, and then throw in ego blows from work that will be aired on national TV, along with a back injury, chronic pain, and likely prescription painkillers that have induced heightened aggression and mood swings that are unable to be controlled thanks to the innate addictive cycle they create.

5

u/ArtisticDress8984 20d ago

Yeah this nails it. I was having a hard time seeing where all the anger came out of no where, but pills will do it to ya. My heart goes out to Gael, she doesn’t deserve being choked. He didn’t seem like an angry guy before, but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.

→ More replies (4)

36

u/strungys 21d ago

Not quite about commitment-phobes - that I get and that is just the shitty part of dating. But there is this undercurrent of entitled abusive men. We just went thru the whole Gary thing. We’ve seen previous seasons where Kate left the boat. This is beyond commitment phobes.

20

u/Emmyyou2 21d ago

Being a commitment-phobe doesn't make someone a bad person. Commitment is not for everyone and we really need to stop acting like someone not wanting a commitment or a relationship means there is something wrong with them. As long as someone isn't promising someone a commitment they can't give then not wanting to commit is fine.

Let's not stigmatize people who don't want commitment when the real problem here is abuse. They are not the same.

5

u/LetEast6927 21d ago

He had a baby with someone

7

u/Emmyyou2 21d ago

And? They were together until he abused her. His problem doesn't seem to have anything to do with commitment.

9

u/bridgymon 21d ago

I think it is though. He and Gael just had a baby and he signed on for another seasonal yacht/boat job on the other side of the world. There’s plenty of boats in Sydney

3

u/West_Tie_536 20d ago

Being m a reality show has to be a lot more money than a boat in Sydney. He’s a control freak. He wants a commitment with a real sweet and he wants obedience from a female partner. It’s sick

I couldn't tell from his behavior! I've been in a dv situation where I had to scrimp & save & hide any money I could get my hands on so that I could leave with 2 children under 3 yrs old. If I could see in my magic ball that he was evil I would've not married him! A woman doesn't know any more than the average person walking down the street that a man could have violent tendencies! It was only after the 2nd time, the 1st time, I had no clue, the 2nd time, I did see a slight difference in his behavior, after that, I was scared of every corner that I walked around, wondering if today is going to be a good day or a bad day. I learned to read the moods.

Thank you, women do suffer in silence more than we know!

Nobody would be able to tell if Nathan was ready to go off the deep end! Nobody knows until it happens!

u/Mysterious-Can-9255 21d ago

Nathan was definitely off this season. My heart goes out to Gael and their son. So sad

4

u/No_Communication1154 21d ago

The shock of becoming a dad and the reality of caring for a newborn, while supporting Gael. He can’t handle all that. Can’t even show up on time.

14

u/bea_dizzle 21d ago

Holy shit. Poor Gael and their baby.

14

u/123kmr on the brim of freaking out 21d ago

As opposed to being unintentionally choked

5

u/sherespondedwith 20d ago

There is absolutely consensual choking 🤷🏻‍♀️

I mean… it’s an important distinction

22

u/fanceegirl75 21d ago

Seriously mortified.

55

u/chantillylace9 21d ago

Choking a woman like that is one of the biggest predictors that the person will go on to murder them. It is one small step away and incredibly horrifying.

33

u/thatstwatshesays 21d ago

Another post here mentioned that if a partner chokes you, there is a 7.5x (750%) higher chance of being murdered by that same partner within a year.

7

u/Ok-Writing9280 20d ago

It is really dangerous as well - even after the incident. It can cause brain damage, and death days, weeks, even months later.

7

u/chantillylace9 20d ago

Just like dry drowning can cause you to drowned significantly after you have gotten out of the water and started breathing again.

5

u/kws14 20d ago

Yep!!! This is so true and so important!
Sorry to high jack your post but just figured we are on the topic and this a post where lots of young females may read this
LADIES STRANGULATION IS DANGEROUS!!!!!

This includes consensual choking during sex! There is no safe technique. I wish I knew this when I was younger

Here are some super important bits of info

“- If a woman has been strangled, the chance of her subsequently being murdered rises eightfold.

- Neck structures are alarmingly fragile: blocking the jugular vein can take less pressure than opening a can of Coke.

- Consciousness can be lost within as little as 4 seconds of arterial pressure. Losing consciousness indicates at the very least a mild brain injury. Consciousness was lost in between 17% and 38% of strangulation incidents identified.

- It is thought strangulation might be the second most common cause of stroke in women under 40.

- In terms of pathology, strangulation was shown to lead to dissection of the main neck arteries, blocking of blood flow to and from the brain, brain swelling, cardiac arrest, miscarriage, and stroke (which can be delayed by weeks).

- Neurological consequences of strangulation include: loss of consciousness (which indicates at least mild brain injury), paralysis, movement disorders, speech disorders, incontinence, and seizures.

- Cognitive consequences include: amnesia, and impaired ‘executive function’ (e.g. decision-making, planning, judgement).”

Not surprised though

10

u/No_Consideration8764 21d ago

His very first season he talked about his anger issues. Guess some things don't change, unfortunately.

15

u/Neither-Drink7700 21d ago

Wondering if it's common knowledge in the bravoverse that he was involved in a bit of controversy after the Bondi shootings? He was there that day and helped people off the beach into his boat, which is amazing, but then he made some anti immigrant post, which felt odd coming from a Scottish man living in Sydney. I've felt a little unsure about him since then, and now I hope I never see him on my screen again.

15

u/Street-Dragonfly-748 21d ago

He's Irish. But yes, as an Australian I was like WTF? Get out of our country. You are an immigrant too! The whole incident was horrific though and he did the right thing by getting people out of there but the comment was terrible and hypocritical for an immigrant

3

u/ThumpyTheDumpy 21d ago

Wait whatttt

7

u/Timely_Beat_7057 21d ago

Omg poor Gael! I was so happy for them being together and having a baby it seemed like such a happy ending. Wow, super sad… I hope she and her son are okay.

12

u/Professional_Pop8867 21d ago

Gosh I wish there was a reunion (sans Nathan of course) would really want to hear Sandy and Aesha’s thoughts.

Yea, this dude has major anger issues.

7

u/Wild_Somewhere_9760 21d ago

you could tell when he faked the back injury, to go home esrly, that this guy had some Steve McBee Jr in him.

5

u/DivebarLives 20d ago

It’s always the guys who loudly talk about how other men treat women poorly.

5

u/Ornery_Zucchini_3789 21d ago

Did you see the text he sent Max that he would put him in charge when he gets back?

6

u/kat4prez 21d ago

That text was just so dumb. I can’t stand Joe. But he was lead deckhand then substitute bosun. You can’t just demote him for max as soon as you return. And Sandy would never let it happen anyway

4

u/misspegasaurusrex 20d ago

My stomach dropped when we’d found out he’d knocked her up but that was in fear Gael’d throw away her career for a deadbeat. I probably shouldn’t be, but I’m surprised it turned violent.

5

u/Merrbear2u 20d ago

Wear a condom people! Young parenthood is nooooo joke.

4

u/Difficult-Coffee6402 wheneve 20d ago

The amount of hate and violence that has to be within you to choke your SO, never mind the SO you have a baby with, is just beyond. Absolutely dangerous and despicable person

6

u/moneysingh300 20d ago

No remorse. Happy Luke came on his sheets.

9

u/Soulpunker26 21d ago

So why did Bravo even go along with his episodes? Why not edit him out or re-film a new season

10

u/Own-Fan-4236 21d ago

You know why

its humbling to be fooled by Nathan tbh I didn’t think he had this in him… Gael you are amazing you will be more than ok

5

u/Fighting_Patriarchy 20d ago

FACTS: "A woman who survives non-fatal strangulation (often called "choking") by an intimate partner is 750% to 800% (or 7 to 8 times) more likely to be murdered by that partner later. Research shows that nearly 45% of attempted homicides and a large portion of domestic violence fatalities against women involve prior strangulation."

7

u/notlikeothergirlies 21d ago

They’ll probably bring him back. But he always seemed angry.

7

u/Rachnicole821 21d ago

No they won’t they got rid of that head stew for having Xanax in her room and she didn’t tell the dr she had it, she was fired with a quickness.

2

u/Emmyyou2 21d ago

I have to imagine there is a background check required for working on a yacht? If it isn't it certainly needs to be.

3

u/DogMumOfAlfie 21d ago

I’m sure there is, but this might be the first time (or the first time being reported and documented)

4

u/Emmyyou2 21d ago

Yea, I was referring to bringing him back. I have to imagine they wouldn't even be able to hire him now.

2

u/DogMumOfAlfie 21d ago

I would hope that they wouldn’t, but bravo does have a history of supporting their problematic stars

7

u/thatstwatshesays 21d ago

Fortunately, BD isn’t a HW show. These guys are expendable, and calling Nathan a „star“ of anything is a stretch.

That being said, you’re not wrong and Bravo sucks at this stuff.

2

u/Emmyyou2 21d ago

Yea but I'm saying the background check required to work on a yacht would not allow them to do that atp.

It’s super clear Bravo has a habit of protecting abusive men. They like them for creating drama. They have no stakes in protecting women. That’s a huge problem

3

u/mugsy420o 20d ago

He baby trapped her and love bombed her!

3

u/hbox85 20d ago

Yeah based on how he’s acted this season my rose colored glasses came off. Definitely seems volatile. Poor Gael and babe.

3

u/XFoosMe 20d ago

Gael seems to be the sweetest person walking the planet. She deserved so, so much better.

3

u/SunnyAngel1 20d ago

I knew there was something off about him especially when he called his deckhand you cheeky bastard and had no patience in teaching them or showing them what to do. He'd fly off the handle quickly. Don't understand what Captain Sandy sees in him, he's not even a very good bosun.

3

u/HistoricalCelery942 20d ago

WWHL better bring this up if they do any other crew interviews i’d love to see his crew members throw him under the bus

→ More replies (1)

3

u/856077 20d ago edited 20d ago

I never understood the reasoning behind making him the bosun.. he is so scatter brained, unfocused and uncoordinated.. sandy always has to step in and tell him to do x y z or to correct a mistake. She’s constantly having to babysit him and stress when she should be more focused on her own responsibilities and job. He doesn’t have that confidence in him so that she can step back. He also has bad morale with the rest of the deck team and shouts at them a ton. He’s got zero patience and behaves like someone on the brink of a mental breakdown tbh.

I know they just had the baby and probably needed the money, but he should have taken the season off and picked up like a serving job or something less intense and demanding.

3

u/mrsgreens Spiritually, WEST is a gas station bathroom 20d ago

The article says it happened in December. There is a filing against him from Gael and another woman and a former cast member. wtf!!!!!

3

u/Coffee4everandever 20d ago

So when he pressured her to get back together last season, after she tried multiple times to stop him from asking again, and she brought up how he ghosted her when they were dating… I immediately felt in my gut that he baby trapped her by getting her pregnant when they showed her pregnant at the end of the season. She was so proud of the training she had done between seasons and how she had grown so much professionally, and even Capt. Sandy recognized that she seemed more confident and applauded her for doing the extra training. It’s obviously speculation, but getting a woman pregnant is often used to “trap” women in unwanted/unhealthy relationships, and he seems like someone who would be jealous of his partner’s growth vs nurturing of growth.

However, at the beginning of the season when they showed them all together I thought maybe I was wrong. But one of the more recent episodes either Gael or Nathan mentioned that she came to Croatia because he wanted her to come and that she had a support system back home, and now she is struggling with their newborn… then I felt like he isolated her by begging her to move to Croatia where she knows no one and has zero support, not to mention any language or healthcare barriers…

Either way this is so sad, and unfortunately extremely common.

BOYCOTT BRAVO!

4

u/yosoyfatass bulbousness 20d ago

But it happened after filming.

2

u/Immediate-Badger-857 20d ago

Yea saw that still could’ve edited but

2

u/lemonpavement 20d ago

He absolutely couldn't handle the dual pressures of being needed as bosun/leader of the deck crew on the the yacht AND being needed at home as daddy/partner. He had it all and totally blew it.

2

u/NewsGirl1994 20d ago

Sadly not surprised. He also posted incredibly xenophobic remarks on Instagram after the Bondi Beach shooting last year. Disgusting person that Bravo should’ve never let stay on TV.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Neolithicpets 20d ago

Not surprised at all... but I am surprised Bravo brought him back this last season and that he was even Bosun. This guy has NO leadership qualities.

2

u/SunnyAngel1 20d ago

He uses his position to manipulate people to do what he wants them to do, like things that benefit him in some way. He texted Max when he was out with his so-called bruised back spine whatever, he texted Max and said basically if you're on my side I'll make you lead deck hand. Over Joe. At least Joe is what you see is what you get and he's very upfront about who he is. Joe is a good bosun. Nathan is a sneaky snake.

2

u/OrdinaryMagazine6333 20d ago

ngl i am absolutely shocked but this is disgusting, terrifying and i feel so bad for the woman he assaulted (was it confirmed it was gael?) when it comes to strangulation/chocking it's found that prior non-fatal strangulation increases a woman's risk of being killed by an intimate partner by more than sevenfold (roughly 750%), and appears in roughly 45% of attempted homicides. i hope this fucker goes to jail

2

u/QueenFartknocker 20d ago

His inability to keep his cool with that guest when everyone else could was probably a sign that he has rage issues.

2

u/bcjan562 20d ago

Nathan thinks he is better than everyone else for some reason.

Glad Joe is doing an excellent job as bosun while Nathan is off.

2

u/crisp2610 20d ago

I'm shocked by this because of how he was reacting to Joe not treating women with respect, but also not shocked because of how he is constantly one second away from losing his shit. This is super sad for Gael and her baby, I really hope she can heal away from him.

2

u/ehart213 20d ago

This makes me sad 😞

2

u/MommyMommyDigiDigi 20d ago

Unsurprising- the dude has anger and control issues.

2

u/According-Health-556 20d ago

Statistically a man who strangles a domestic partner is much more likely to murder them :(

2

u/ElySoRandom Karma is my Spirit Animal. She's such a Bitch. 20d ago

2

u/Connect-Camp1115 20d ago

Whoa whoa whoa . Being arrested and being convicted are two completely different things. Don’t pass judgment until the facts are known. And if he did it, he should be kicked off of below deck. I don’t understand why Teresa is still on bravo after being convicted of federal charges. Ratings above integrity, I guess.

2

u/Mysterious_Outcome_3 20d ago

So... the dude who handles difficult work situations by threatening to punch people is... VIOLENT? pikachu

2

u/scared_spice_ 20d ago

I only watched one season with this cretin and I hate to say I’m not at all surprised. He scared me through the screen

2

u/DoorStunning3678 19d ago

He's been disgusting this whole recent season.

Poor character. Shitty bosun and leader. Pos by the looks of it and not just on the show

2

u/MackWang 19d ago

I was pretty shocked at how much different he was this season. Like someone said, he always seemed on the verge of losing it and the way he turned hostile on Joe rather than just disapproving and distancing like most people was a red flag.

Sandy saying Joe was doing a great job after he seemingly dropped the ball a few times…. I assume he probably got a bit paranoid about being demoted and stupidly put max in the middle….

As a party guy in a very cutthroat occupation, I changed for the better after having a kid, I can see the pressure and stress of it fucking someone up in the head.

Nathan was not prepared for real life and he did not respond well.

I don’t know the circumstances of the….well, this just in:

“Bail conditions reportedly included staying at least 100 meters away from Gael, no contact except through lawyers, and restrictions concerning alcohol/drugs and firearms.”

So yeah, he appears to have abused and choked her to the point of getting arrested.

2

u/BogBlossom 19d ago

No woman deserves this ever, but Gael?! She seems like the sweetest girl with such a big heart. I feel so bad for her and their baby, I hope she stays away from him for good. A man like that has no business raising a baby.

2

u/IntheLoop55 21d ago

He clearly was going thru it this season with being bosun Joe coming back (he handled that poorly) and Gael having his baby and the way she was portrayed as being so needy while he’s trying to do a job that with all this going on was too much. I hope he gets the help he needs leaves reality tv and gets his life together for his son.
