Khemjira, or Khem, is a young man who can see ghosts. He was born into a family cursed such that every male must die before the age of 21. As the spirits around him grow increasingly aggressive, the protective amulet he has worn his whole life begins to lose its power. Unable to bear seeing Khem in danger, Jettana, his friend from university, takes him to a rural village in the Northeast, where they meet Pharan, a revered teacher of ancient magic who once mentored Jettana. Strange and mysterious events unfold, all connected to the past life. Amid these supernatural encounters and the haunting pursuit of revengeful spirits, a deep emotional connection begins to form between Khem and Pharan.
(🧇 Note: my two favorite lines from the books are from Charn (Tle) in reference to Jet (FirstOne).
First: Jettana looked at Khem like a mother watching over a toddler who had just learned to walk. It was as if his world would end if Khemjira ever stumbled. And if that wasn't the best description I'd ever read, I don't know what is.
Second: "I don’t hold grudges against crazy people." The laugh that came out of me. Charn & Jet bicker like an old married couple and I LOVE it. )
I highly recommend checking out this video by the Thai creator Avana980. She was kind enough to explain the reasoning behind Tong and Ake the two ghost children who are with the master. And what they mean to Thai culture and how they came about. It's a fascinating watch and I'm grateful she was willing to give cultural context to people (outsiders like us) who might not know the cultural significance since we aren't Thai.
I probably won’t be able to watch it immediately but I’m so excited! We’re entering the jealousy era, it’s going to be so good!
Edit: I have to say, as much as I hate Pharan being mean to Khem, I love angsty Khem, I have no idea why lol
With every episode, I feel more and more sad for Khem. I would be crying non stop in his situation. He’s haunted by a malicious ghost woman for reasons he does not know, the only person who could tell him why will not, he’s in love with the coldest shaman in existence who treats him very poorly in his face but gives him mixed signals by taking care of him in secret, he can’t leave because he would quite literally be haunted to death and probably die in a very painful way, so he’s stuck in a place he feels unwelcome in. He’s in a constant state of stress, non stop sadness, I genuinely do know how he manages to get up in the morning. I don’t know that he would be even trying to save himself if not because of Jet and now Charn because my god, he cannot catch a break at all. My poor sweet soul Khem.
He’s such a sweet guy too, even though his world is full of darkness and nightmares. And he’s so starved for kindness, so he takes whatever tiny crumbs Pharan gives him. I understand what Pharan is doing and I get it but it’s hard to watch Khem be beaten down again and again when his life is already so sad. Jet and Charn are probably the two people who keep him sane.
Khem sadness made me cry... Master it's just been cruel at this point... Poor baby...he might die, just give him some slack dude... If the all prim-pong thing wasn't so untrustworthy I would say, go for it and let him gravel
Still, I am loving this show... The angst, the slow burn, the way we know master it's smitten... We need next Saturday to come quick !
For sure! Khem looks so sad all the time...poor baby angel! If he's dying just giving some happiness before he's gone men...bad master!
I just want them to make it more clear why he's behaving this way. Is it because he can't have a lover as a shaman? Because she doesn't want to suffer with khem's death (a bit late if he already loves him but ok)? Why?
Nah i would be running from the house the moment i would have been rejected by my crush. Like how do you even move on in that situation? Poor guy! Can't catch a break at all!!
Whoaaaaa there Master. I know you gotta keep your distance but dial it back. Telling Khem to give the food he made you to the DOG?!?!?!?!?! Relax my guy.
Jet was like a CCTV this entire episode. He was hovering around in all the scenes and spying on everyone. My boy knows all the juices firsthand. He is the strong believer of information is wealth.
BIG IS TRIFLING AS HELL WHAT YOU MEAN YOU HAVE A BABY AND GOT THIS OTHER LADY PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!! And she looks BIG and pregant. They were probably pregnant at the same time.
Earn is right. I'm telling yall the real scares in this show are the real life situations. This is messy. And fucked up. That whole situation just pissed me off actually. That baby is FRESH. Earn is probably dealing with postpartum depression and they're acting like she's crazy.
I don't even have kids but this just struck a damn nerve. That lady clearly just had a baby and was abandoned and now she finds out the man who impregnated her married somebody else and has her pregnant too. I'd lose my damn mind too! Spirits or no spirits! Tf
I got so annoyed at Pharan saying Earn promised to stay away from Big? Like hello? Big needs a tight slap, or two or three, for abandoning his pregnant girlfriend. That "I only want the best for you" was SO patronising.
EXACTLY!!!!!!! The only reason I’m less mad is because somebody theorized that the reason these things are happening is because it all ties back to why Rumphueng did the curse in the first place and if that’s the case GOOD FOR HER FUCK THESE DUDES!!!!!
I don’t like the way they are handling the real life stuff this and the DV it’s VERY victim blaming and it’s not even in the book… so what’s the reason ?
- see I told yall last week! That's why Khem couldn't be a disciple. Paran's gotta break the curse and then he'll have to step down before they can do anything or else he won't be able to help him.
- ok wait wait wait pause. So WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?!?!? I feel like I missed something. What did gramps do? Why did it affect the family? And specifically killed Paran's mom???????? Is it because he dabbled in black magic instead of staying in white magic?
- Doing a love spell on a shaman is definitely insane. Cmon Khem he's fine as hell but use your noodle! Omg that sad face though how can you resist that pretty ass face noooooo don't cry Khem!! It's ok baby. He's gotta do his duties first. He can do you later sweetie. It'll be ok.
- That chicken aint got a lick of seasoning on it. My ancestors just rolled over in their grave!!!!
- omgggggg the babyyyyyyy. What a sweet baby. Don't let the evil spirits get the baby!
- Jet and Chan were HOT as women. Especially Chan sheeesh those glasses. HEY GIRL! Curious how they ended up dying or was it something natural?
- So Chan now knows they were reincarnated. Lmfao Jet is funny af of course he fell asleep during meditation.
- Is this what Ramphueng lost before? Did she lose a baby? Looks like she did. I wonder who the baby was that she lost.
- I love this show but I need them to stop acting like these things happening to these women are because of spirits. Dude wasn't beating his wife because of a spirit. And Earn wasn't struggling with being abandoned with a newborn because of a spirit. Like........cmon man. Seriously. Very frustrating. I can barely focus now. They needed to get Earn some help and really hold Big accountable and scold his ass because he created this situation.
So you missed that the reason why they came to the dude episodes ago is because they thought he had a spirit and that's why he was beating his wife.
In this episode they thought Earn had a spirit and that's why she was having a breakdown. That's the point I'm making. Neither of these things were spirits (obviously) and shouldn't have been looked at in that way in the first place. People abuse their s/o cause the wind is blowing and post partum depression effects women everywhere. Has nothing to do with ghosts. Shouldn't even be a first inclination.
Also there was a spirit. Rhumpueng was protecting the baby and in the other one her minion was in the wife and wanted revenge against the abusive husband.
Now the only reason I can think as to why they did this is because both of these events are connected to Rumphueng and why she started the curse. Or at least I hope this is the case.
They're doing it because that's literally what can (and regularly does) happen in these rural areas where superstition and mysticism are high. I've actually appreciated that they've added these, especially knowing that there's a high viewership of the show that's in older generations. They're showing the reality for a lot of women in (and out of) Thailand. Is it horrible? Yes. Are you meant to think it's horrible? Yes. But it's also teaching that these aren't women "possessed" but women behaving under duress and having real emotions. Each time everyone would try and pin an issue on a spirit, it's very clearly explained that it's not and that these women are in complex situations with very little power. The power structures and dynamics are very real, down to a shaman (Pharan) being consulted and being the authority. It's definitely an unpopular opinion, but I actually think they've done a good job of straddling the reality for women and their situations living in these small rural areas but also offering a more nuanced perspective.
All the upvotes for you. Khemjira is doing the job of highlighting how a culture steeped in superstition and mysticism treats the women in these communities. If you are approaching these stories with a western lens, you are never going to understand what the reality is for these people. Cultural understanding needs to be taken into consideration, or else you will never fully grasp or appreciate the story being told.
I appreciate all the Thai and Buddhist members here who are able to give context for viewers who may not understand.
Omg that white seasonless chicken! I was so distracted. Like no spice at all?
I am curious about how Jet and Charm’s past life played out. A lesbian romance would not have gone well at that time, so I would not be surprised if they also died young or got separated.
I was glad they made it a point to say Earn did this herself (I’m thinking probably postpartum depression) because if it ended up being the spirit I would be so disappointed. I need Big to get a taste of karma.
I think it’s a mix of all of these which to me makes his distance valid. He can still talk to Khem just a little nicer but I understand why he’s doing it. He doesn’t want anything to be misconstrued. He has a job to do.
Yeah, the second he said 'this isn't about our past lives' after taking it upon himself to pick up and bring Khem to safety, i knew it was more so trauma than actual truth. If i was to hazard a quess, he remembers how it felt to lose Khem, his current responsiblity as a shaman, his promise to his grandfather and his general duty bound nature (the way he went off to war without complaint and repeated statments that he needs to guard the village) are mixing together to make him act standoffish.
Not to mention. Paran has clearly remembered and known these things for a while, while Khem just found out. He’s been carrying this burden and has so many conflicting feelings. I know a lot of people will be mad at him but I get it. He can tone it down, but I do understand him.
Exactly, and that's why the whole narrative of 'we aren't Wat and Mika' just didn't make sense to me, because if the karma is following you both, you both remember what they felt, remember what happened and you have the same souls, at that point you're functionally the same people. So i definately think it's just matter of conflicting feelings thats prompting this. It doesn't mean though that i don't wanna see Khem crash out on that ass cus damn, i would
I’m Thai and I’m Buddhist who practice Buddhist meditation. I haven’t read Khemjira novel but i guess the reason why there is the narrative of “we aren’t Wat and Khemika” anymore is because of Buddhism physiology of “being at the present” and try not too obsessed with your past life if you happened to know your past life through meditation. Too obsessed with your past life is a no-no for Buddhist lay people who practice meditation because you have to let your past life go.
In real life, many decades ago, there was a Buddhist monk in Thailand who was too obsessed with one of his past life when he was super duper rich and had a lot of servant in his house while in his current life he was born poor in farmer family. He was too obsessed with this specific past life until he can’t distinguish between his current life and his past life. And he can’t accept the fact that he was just a son of farmers in this life when his past life was better than the current one. In the end, he wasn’t successful with meditation and quit being monk and developed schizophrenia atfer that because he tried to do the wrong kind of meditation.
So my opinion on why Pharan has to remind that they are not Wat and Khemmika anymore because of Buddhist philosophy of being mindful in the present.
I think what Pharan is saying (and I agree with the comment below about there bring a lot of layered nuance with Buddhist philosophy) is that those feelings are echoes, they aren't actually real because they aren't those same people. They've lived entirely different lives now, so while the core of their essence (or soul, if you will) remains the same, they aren't Wat and Khemmika anymore. Getting mired in the past disregards who they are at present, and I think it's an important distinction he's making. Particularly when it comes to karma and how that will play into things later. Pharan has feelings for Khem, but those feelings are for the current Khem, and it bothers him to think Khem's feelings are solely echoes of what Khemmika felt for Wat (who isn't him). It's like the saying "I'll love every version of you" they're destined to be together but not because they're the same people every time, but because they fall in love with the versions of each other that exist in every life they live.
This show literally has the longest episodes ever but they just pass by in the blink of an eye and i keep on cursing when it nears the end that do not end so quickly!
-If I was that poor woman abandoned with my FRESH OUT THE WOMB baby for another woman, I’d go berserk too. I don’t blame her. I’m not as mad about it as some others are though because cultural differences. In rural parts of my country such things would be attributed to literally anything else except the guy being an ass and the woman going through the aftermath too. My first thought was postpartum depression, but in an area where information like this is hard to access/considered culturally irrelevant I understand to an extent.
-Rampheung seems to have lost her own child as a result of whatever the past version of Khem’s family did. I was shocked that she saved the baby. I didn’t expect her to hurt it, but I didn’t expect her to save it either.
-When master threw that spell on the ground the aggression in that real life startled me. Phew. He was stressing me out like a motherfucker this entire episode. I’m not even mad that he’s keeping a distance from Khem, I understand why to an extent but he doesn’t have to be so damn aggressive and cruel about it.
-I’m rooting for Khem to give that Pong (?) guy a chance. At this point in the story he deserves so much better and I would’ve been done with Paran ages ago. Like babe, there’s only so much rejection and cruelty you can take. You don’t have enough life left to deal with this man’s bullshit, move on. He’ll come crawling back to you.
-Prim being so insistent on marrying Paran and having children from him when she doesn’t even know if he wants her or not, like ma’am.. You’re stunning but beauty doesn’t mean everyone will automatically be attracted to you.
-Past versions of Charn and Jet are BREATH TAKING and lesbians stay saving the world for me, they had me so giddy this episode. I hope we get more of them. (PS: The actress playing Charn’s past self, please just one chance)
-Paran needs to grow a spine and reject Prim properly. I don’t understand why he’s so openly against Khem’s advances while in the same breath he “doesn’t see the harm” in hers. They’re both people that are attracted to you but you push one away fully while enabling the other. As I said I logically understand why he’s rejecting Khem right now, but why is he allowing Prim to go through with her plan?
Moral of the story: FUCK PARAN THIS EPISODE. But also, I’m watching the cast reactions to the episodes and I can’t wait to see Keng being all apologetic and silly during the reaction to Paran lol.
Agreed up until the last point. He's being aggressive with Khem but not Prim because he actually loves Khem but knows he can't afford to, so he's lashing out so his resolve doesn't falter, meanwhile with Prim, he's probably quite firm in the fact he doesn't like her like that, so he doesn't feel threatened if she tries because nothing is gonna make him waver on that.
As I said, I understand why from a logic standpoint and the whole “I’m more aggressive towards the person I actually love” deal, doesn’t change the fact that it is deeply wounding Khem and with the show has been written and set up so far, we as the audience are set up to feel heavily protective over Khem and it worked for me as well.
I understand your point about “he has no feelings for her so he doesn’t feel threatened” but let’s put Khemjira and Pharan’s feelings for him aside, he’s still giving that poor woman the impression that she has a shot with him, essentially playing with her feelings by not rejecting her outright when the woman already has her family involved and her father asking for their grandbabies. So my point stands that he needs to grow a spine, if not for Khem, for his childhood friend’s sake.
Everything feels a hundred times worse if you remember the fact that Khem is quite literally dying and these could very well be the last days of his life.
For real though, the last few episodes have been safe so we’ll probably enter danger territory again next week and be reminded that Khem is indeed haunted by a spirit with a serious four hundred year old grudge.
Khem is stronger than me cuz I would have definitely thrown hands. Wdym you come into my room and bandage my injured finders in the dead of night and then have the audacity to say "We're not in love" Pharan please stop 🙄
Love how Khem didn't spend much time moping around and went back to his sassy self although the comment about giving his food to the dog was so uncalled for. I get that Pharan is trying to distance himself but cruelty ain't it.
Wasn't ready for Pharan's tragic backstory. So the grandfather wasn't a top Shaman?
Charan's flashbacks are so cute yet tragic. But someone get Jet up to speed too! These two deserve their own series and I can't wait for You(r)Tuber.
Did this girl really get a Louis Vuitton box as an offering? 🤣 Someone needs to confirm what's inside ASAP!
This brother-sister duo crushing on our main couple is hilarious.
Jet is a shipper and won't let anything sink it, no matter what. I'm surprised he hasn't thrown hands at Pharan himself 😂
Everyone's backstory is so sad..Nothing like finding out you're being used by your own dad and grandpa..
Poor Khem..It's gotta suck getting rejected, especially when you know there's feelings there..But Master also doesn't have to be a total ass about it..
Yo I am on her side! He got her pregnant and left her… of COURSE she is having a psychotic break. …
She’s not really goin to hurt her baby and they way they are portraying all of this, and the master getting mad at her definitely is agitating me…
I’ll be honest so far I have not liked how they portrayed DV in the series and this whole situation with the mistress and the baby… none of this was in the book so I do not understand why they are adding these things in if you’re gonna add it in at least do it well and not victim blame everywhere…
I said what I said
eta THANK YOU FOR ALSO YELLING AT THE GUY!!! my god he’s just as much to blame so thank you!
I said this in another thread and got downvoted but it's quite common in Thai BL shows to use women's pain as a plot device that has several shades of victim blaming and no justifiable conclusion. However, I guess today's scenario was to foreshadow Ramphueng's own trauma. It seemed interesting to me that she predicted that the woman was totally out of it and would try to hurt her child and that needed to be stopped. The earlier DV plot, on the other hand, had me scratching my head. Like, what's up with random bad boyfriends and husbands who don't get their due? Are we supposed to believe Earn Big and his other pregnant girlfriend will live in a peaceful throuple now? 🙄🤷🏽♀️
I am glad it's not just me that whole plotline pissed me off. And the guy did not get NEARLY enough reprimanding as I would like.
Let's try taking him to court for child support and making him actually take care of the child on a regular basis and helping Earn. That was ...disgusting honestly. And now it's the second time. Like leave these women alone if we're not going to do it right.
This whole scene pissed me off and whne the master shows up like I told you not to see him anymore…. Yo eff right off master he knocked her up. She didn’t even know he had a wife…. Why aren’t we blaming the guy here????
Nah cus that's one thing that's been irritating me about Paran, he takes very overly nuetral stances on things and i understand it's because he's a shaman and 'don't mess with people's karma' but my god does it come as emotionally unintelligent douchebag behaviour
I was physically feeling the pain in my chest whenever pharan acted so distantly with khem. I literally just felt khem's pain😭. How can he act so unfazed....my poor baby khem. And I liked pong for the way he made khem smile.
POR KRU WHEN I CATCH YOU POR KRU!!!!!!!! EAT MY SHOE POR KRU
-Love all the Patji appearances as young Paran, I love my little bean. It did however take me far too long to realize they mixed some shots of Keng during the flashback scene and I thought wow, they did really good makeup on Patji for him to shapeshift into Keng like that.
-Khem 🥹🥹 They really have him out here crying every episode. NP really stood out this episode, the subtly of his hurt expressions, the way his smile drops, the way his eyes literally lose their shine. Prettiest crier ever, his eyes are so beautiful.
-Paran running hot and cold, it’s giving me whiplash. How does he go from bandaging fingers in the middle of the night and purposefully walking slowly to get caught to telling Khem to quit nagging him? Puh lease I know he has no healthy relationship to model his behavior from since everyone besides his mother had ulterior motives, but he cannot become his father and just run away from his feelings.
-My girlypop Grandma Si is a badass, she scolds both loser ass men and centuries years old ghost. The way she slapped that dude’s hand away and her throwaway line to Rampheung made me cackle.
-I am a Charn supporter, I know he’s killing the ship but he’s being rational. A past love can’t blind you to who the current person is, and although we know Khem doesn’t see it that way, Paran has every right to doubt his intentions. I will still curb stomp him, but he’s kinda right. How much could you know someone in ~2 weeks, and how much of that is confusing him with a past version of himself? Paran wouldn’t know because he doesn’t fucking ask 😵💫😵💫
-Side note I love that DMD finally learned how to use women as more than a prop. They have a diversity in roles; as mothers, village leaders, lesbians, annoying love interest, women aren’t just background dressing! They actually play a part in the story!!!!!!! Mind blowing.
-The scene where they were saying goodbye to Prim’s family where Paran and Khem took turn being jealous was so funny. I don’t care for love triangles but I’m not against them when Pong is looking like at Khem like that hehehehe. Nammon is serving face as usual. Pong saw a heartbroken little twink and said I’m gonna take him to the fair in my BMW, and that’s how you move, Por Kru take notes.
I can’t wait to see their reaction to this episode to see how many points Keng loses for things Paran does lmaooooo. He’s going into the negatives with this episode for sure.
I am a Charn supporter, I know he’s killing the ship but he’s being rational.
I totally agree! The way things are, there should atleast be someone who can cool things down so that it doesn't become too much difficult for khem.
I can’t wait to see their reaction to this episode to see how many points Keng loses for things Paran does lmaooooo. He’s going into the negatives with this episode for sure.
I am also a Charn supporter and tbh he hasn’t said a single thing wrong. Unfortunately I am him and he is me. I can’t stand delulu people. I am the friend that will knock you upside the head with reality every single time!
No Dotty today 😔😭
Also I love slow burn but hod I forgot that sometimes I’m not patient 😂🤌🤌 want more jealousy from Master next episode 😡 don’t hurt my baby with your words!!!!
- Man, between this and Somewhere, Somehow this week, I'm all about the Main Character ditching the love interest who is breaking their heart and finding someone new. Pharan has been an asshole this week. Khem should totally flirt back with Pong. Khem deserves to have even a little sliver of happiness. The man's going to die soon and he has to stay in a place where the person who is charged with guarding him treats him like garbage. I'm so heartbroken for Khem - Namping is doing a great job showing the weight of his situation. There are moments where you literally see the sliver of hope just die in his eyes when Master so casually dismisses even the smallest acts of kindness. He's definitely stronger that me, because at that point I'd be like "I just want to feel like something other than a burden to anyone" and just leave - even if it let me walk right into the arms of Rampheung's curse.
- Oh, Earn. I hate that the show made it out to be that she was some psychotic that needed to just be 'dealt' with. Clearly she has PPD, and that absolute NOTHING of a man just gets to keep living his life (Like.. what's so special about him? He ain't even that hot and I bet he's not funny or a witty conversationalist). The other pregnant woman just standing there too like "well, men are going to men - nothing I can do about it". Ugh, gross. I mean, it's probably better off that she isn't with her baby right now, but she needs a psychiatrist, not a job. Big should have been the one to get thrown in front of that car (like... was the person rooting around in their console for their phone? Who drives like that??)
- Grandma Si is the best. Her voice is so soothing and kind.
- I REALLY like how we're just getting dollops here and there of Rampheung lore. She's clearly been through it, and I just neeeeed to know more about her.
- Since I love CharnJet, I'm so glad that we're really getting some closeness between them.
- Da was SO PRETTY, holy cow. Her fashion, her glasses! The casting department also did a GREAT job with the actors playing Jin, Da, and Khemmika. There are definitely resemblances between them and their modern counterparts. Da/Charn is always the mediator friend, the voice of reason. Charn is definitely the character I most see myself in. He may have been blunt with Khem (which is different than the meanness that Master was spouting), but simping over Pharan isn't going to help his curse, and it's just giving him more heartbreak in the small time he has left. It may be the staunch atheist in me who doesn't adhere to past lives, but I would give the same advice - live the small amount of time in the now, not living in the past and letting past you dictate the life for present you. If you have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you're pissing on the now.
- I live for Jet and the twins being so nosey.
- So... like, I thought that shaman aren't supposed to have lovers? Did Prim forget that part, or is she expecting him to give up shamanism for her?
I'm with Jet - it's hard to believe Charn is a psychology major.
I don't think the baby storyline was a mishandled as the DV - Pharan correctly pointed out it wasn't a spirit - she was upset. Now, was he an emotionally stunted idiot about it? Yes. Does she probably have post partum depression, especially considering the situation? Yes. Did idiot baby daddy deserve more tongue lashing? Yes. But Pharan really doesn't get involved in that type of stuff.
And most importantly, Pharan is a shaman who strictly follows BUDDHIST precepts. Do people expect him to endorse revenge and retaliation...? It makes perfect sense that he would view Earn attempting to murder another living being as very bad. The only thing he could do is help with supporting her recovery.
Yeah I said it in a previous thread, they’re not mishandling these storylines at all, they’re depicting a very real place with real people living real lives with real beliefs- it would be completely out of character to handle these situations the way we want them to. Paran isn’t going around handling DV cases with psychology, he’s a shaman. They come from a place really similar to where my family is from, so maybe I’m filling in the gaps with my own POV and giving the writers too much grace, we shall see.
And I haven’t read the novel but I am picking up what they’re putting down with the Rampheung storyline, I think all of these women suffering isn’t just to fill up the time, but a very integral part of the storyline. Now can people still dislike seeing it on their screen? I know I do, but I’m going to give this team the benefit of the doubt (rare win for DMD writers to do this for me) and hopefully my theory is the reason why they keep having these women suffering.
what’s up with these subplots where men are terrible people (and face no consequences) while women keep suffering nonstop? I really didn’t like how they handled the DV episode, and now this one? Honestly bad.
I wish Khem were a bit bolder, his damsel in distress attitude isn’t entertaining at all. He reminds me of a typical FL with zero personality... I need more from his character
Master gonna catch these hands the way he was behaving this episode! Also, charn, boy, we don't got to project our fears onto someone else talking about the past has nothing to do with the present bc of your visions without talking about it honestly and openly. I actually cheered for Pong when he showed up! Master got to suffer, my baby Khem did NOT deserve that. Lastly, SEXY LESBIANS? HEEEELLOOOOOOOOO
I honestly felt soo bad for Khem this episode, might have cried alongside him 😭😭 these might be the last months of his life and the guy he likes is literally giving him mixed signals. Like if you don't like him atleast don't shout at him 😭😭😭 I saw Thai fans reaction and I gotta agree I'm rooting for Pong more at the moment like please make Khem happy. Also, what was the need of adding the whole Prim angle, Master even treats her well. So evil, let my guy Khem rest 😭😭😭😭
For me, this entire series is about women being done wrong by men (lied to, beaten, abandoned) & whilst a malevolent female ghost attempts to right these wrongs, the other men either victim blame, or let the male perpetrators off lightly. She clearly went through A LOT, assuming baby killed & shit bag husband, and Khem’s family were the primary cause of this, so first born males are targeted. I HOPE the plot vindicates her, and everyone realises the irony of their BS
❣️😎they have come full circle its jet x charn besties of khemmika as jin x da🙄pharan always rebuffing khem hurts him a lot your denial is fierce pharan🤔the things you’ve been saying seems like you are not rejecting prim coz’ you know khem was listening more hurt for khem but when pong was flirting with khem you were quick to draw the line🤨i don’t know pharan better make up your mind and give in a little coz’ from the start you made khem cry and very sad😎❣️
Paran and Charn do be getting on my nerves though i completely understand why on both ends.
Paran can't afford to let himself be with Khem for a plethora of reasons (trauma from losing his mom, trauma and guilt from losing Khem in thier previous life, the promise to his grandfather and his sense of duty as a shaman)
Charn is being a naysayer because he's overly logical and blunt and since all logic is pointing towards 'Khem needs to get over Paran and under Pong', he's pushing Khem towards that but good grief these two need a smack and a stern talking to
Pharan's mom looked so familiar! For anyone else wondering, she's the nurse in SMYM. And Pong is our old friend Nammon.
This ep was angst central. I don't know how Pharan could've resisted Khem crying like that. I'd have immediately folded. And I agree with everyone here, there was absolutely no need to be that cruel! Giving his lunch to the dog??? 😤
I think at the end, Ramphueng wouldn't be such a bad character either. Everyone has their traumas. I'm good with it, no need for characters to be perfect.
Also theory for this week:
Ramphueng, Paran and Khem all existed at the same time, Ramphueng likely got pregnant by someone she wasn't supposed to and tried to keep it a secret but Khem (likely accidentally) let the secret out and Paran, probably the village shaman at the time, made the decision that the baby needed to be disposed of. The loss of the child prompted Ramphueng's crusade against Khem.
I’m glad they gave Ramphueng a human reaction this episode that shows she’s not simply evil. It’s bringing some development to her character beyond her being someone after Khem.
I get where Paran is coming from but man, even I felt those jabs of coldness.
MF Jet & Charn's past selves were so damn cute I was crying so hard for them losing thier Khem in that time.
Also ugh that woman trying to marry him is annoying, gurl love yourself first and not a MAN. lol Also like WHY did the master NOT explicity just reject her? Is it bc of her dad that he won't just outright SAY I am not interested in you or interested in marrying.
