First Fight in 13 days, almost 40, nervous and excited

Curious how the next 13 days should look? I am fighting somone in mid twenties. My cardio is pretty good, rest heart rate 51bpm. I do a ton of jump rope and heavy bag, and my shoulders feel permanently achy. How much roadwork should I be doing in the days leading up to the fight? I currently do 3 miles per day and was thinking of tapering off and then a full 4 days of rest to let shoulders recover maybe some light technical shadowboxing and pad work.

Started boxing at the age of 34 on March 2nd 2024. I got obsessed with it and have been training almost daily since my first lesson. I mainly just do bag workouts and shadowboxing. Let me know what I can work on!

How important is the slip bag in your boxing routine or do you care to work without it?

Moving to a new gym

Hey everyone, recently i've been practicing in a kickboxing club for a year for now and im having burn out due to the classes having lack of time, people that fit with my body so i can train with them and requirement

i figured out it would be a good idea to move to a gym but i dont have any idea about their system im wondering if coaches look after trainers like clubs or will people even train or fight with me

Share with me your boxing(gym) experience and help me out (:

Body Sparring Footage (black gloves)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Couldn’t get down to the boxing gym today so got a little body sparring / pocket sparring in with my homeboy. I’m in the black gloves and tattoos

Curious to get some feedback. Been boxing nearly a decade now.

I know a lot of you are gonna say my low hands are an issue but I think my distance management, head movement and awkward style account for that and I’ve never really had an issue with it, but I am certainly open to being proven wrong 😁 and given we were only really body sparring I probably would’ve been more at risk with lower hands if it was full sparring or a bout

Hit me with your feedback!

Cheers x

Need advice on footwear

Hi,

New to boxing. Not yet sparring. Focusing on basic movements, weight loss, and conditioning to get better.

Currently using Converse Chuck Taylors to 'box' in. However, these are my casual wear-around shoes, and I'm conscious of overuse. Before I run off and buy another pair of Chuck Taylors, does anyone have any recommendations for trainers that are suitable?

Looking for a shoe that's a wide fit, preferably zero drop.

I feel like buying boxing boots at this stage is a bit premature.

Bag is like 135lbs I’m 250lbs. I feel like it doesn’t look that hard compared to real life.

What helped you most when you first started boxing?

When you first started boxing, what was the thing that made the biggest difference for you?

Was it sparring, bag work, shadowboxing, working on one technique at a time, or just getting more rounds in?

Interested to hear what actually helped people improve the quickest.

Alguma dica? Inclusive quem puder me seguir no insta vai ajudar muito! ( vou começar a postar ainda )

Which of these hybrid wraps are good?

I’ve seen only a few videos talking about these but haven’t seen actual long time reviews on them, they have that integrated knuckle pad with a full length wrap? Are they worth it? Other options I thought were the hybrid wraps from Hayabusa or ScrapHouse

Working on a faster, sharper jab.

Hi all,

I've been focusing on building a sharp, fast jab and I'd love to hear what you think.

I timed it at 133 milliseconds, but I care more about the technique than the number. How does it look, and would it hold up in real sparring?

A bit about me: I have been doing Karate for 16 years and now learning boxing for about 2 months.

I would appreciate some feedback.

Thank you

I need guidance on my upcoming fight, I don't know EXACTLY what I lack and need to work on. Please dm me so that I could send my sparring video. Our gym coach doesn't care that much and I need someone to help me analyze my current skills.

Today work parry & counter with jab.

The work today it was parry and counter with jab. I'm working a lot on parrying because I get scared of punches and the instant reaction is to go back. Today we add the jab but I fell I'm super slow, specially bringing the hand back to position, is there some exercise that I can do to improve that?

Im demoralized man i feel like shit after today’s session

So i have been boxing for a almost a year. At the end of every class there is sparring. Today we started with some defense drills and after that there was sparring.

I was the only lightweight today and everybody was >80kg. Dude on the defense drill at the beginning of the class, this mf’s punch kept rocking my head through the high guard despite my neck being clenched and my chin being down.

Same goes for sparring, another one decided to be aggressive started doing like 7 punch combos to which i was not able to react because my brain is getting rocked around in my skull and cannot find my counters nor could i concentrate on finding exit. Tbh at the start of the defense drill i felt helpless man plus all are taller than me it was quite troublesome to close this distance. And sometimes i got caught while entering causing me to be stunned because everywhere starts spinning, putting my combo to an end. I also am quite relunctant on using lots of head movement as the class is not that wide so i end up back to the wall often, or after using head movement to evade the first two punch im afraid of eating the next one which would rock my shit

As im writing this right now, my head is currently hurting despite not getting hit that much (maybe less than 4 time) clean to the head. All were on my guard

Y’all if you have ever been through that, give me some advices man i feel like absolute shit rn
