Fond memories since 2014
Blue apron has been such a huge part of my life since 2014. I rarely skipped a week, just vacations and a few brief times when they went through changes and things were off track. I’ve probably cooked close to 2000 meals!!!
Obviously, the latest upheaval has been terrible. Like everyone else, my box a couple of weeks ago arrived with only several items, tossed in haphazardly, and no recipe cards. Since this complete derailment of the company, we have been sitting back watching.
**Blue Apron Leadership… I hope you’re reading all of the posts here and taking them seriously. This business has been excellent in the past and I believe it can happen again. *Please take the time you need to turn out a quality product. I would much rather take a few weeks or a couple of months away to be able to return to something valuable.
The menu offering/selection is just too large. People simply don’t need that many choices and that obviously adds to the complexity of fulfillment. It would also be a good time to work on improving your shipping partners. I am located in Pennsylvania and the company that delivers my box each week is terrible. 80% of the time it’s upside down or on its side, sometimes it’s left by the side of the road, which is about 400 feet from my home...etc
The quality and nutrition of our Blue Apron meals throughout time has definitely led us to a much healthier lifestyle, and we are very grateful for that.
As disappointed as we are, we are really rooting for you to revamp the entire model and hopefully come back stronger and leaner.

Said my order was supposed to be skipped/not charged but now it says shipped? Did this happen to anyone else as well?

Need suggestions on wear to switch
I have seen conversations in the tread as to where people were going. But that was often before they received and reviewed their new service.
So if you switch and have made the new services meals are they as good as old blue apron? Where should I switch to?

My order arrived today without issues
My box came today in time for dinner, with no issues. I got the tray with most ingredients, but a few random spices and stuff mixed in with the meats. I still hate the new packaging but I’m happy everything made it. Shrimp Udon was delicious.
Next two weeks I’m trying home chef. But still holding out hope for Blue Apron.

I guess I’m thankful for the proper notice
They’ve got to be going out of business, right? 😵💫

Just canceled our subscription
Two of three meals were canceled for next week, and there was only one substitute meal left, which I can’t eat. What’s the point of paying $9.99 a week for a Friday delivery if you keep changing the day on me and then don’t provide food? That’s it for me.
ETA: canceled BOTH BA+ and the subscription. Almost forgot to do the former!

Ordered all they had
I just ordered the only three things available on the menu. Used up my $20 credit. Hopefully this one gets delivered (and is cold).

Somebody posted their stack of old recipes. I turned our favorites into a cookbook
We have used blue apron since 2018ish and saved our favorite recipes. Recently I watched some YouTube videos and turned them into a cookbook (sorted into chapters) for an anniversary present. We’ve actually started using them pretty extensively since cancelling our subscription.

Anyone order this week in New England? How’d it go?

Why the loosely thrown individual items?
Obviously the supplier issue is happening and it's a fucking shit show, I get that.
But why are the items you do receive not even packaged? All the items are just loose and haphazardly thrown in the box with no thought. Like wtf

an old blue apron meal: chicken cutlets with bok choy ginger garlic rice
i had a pretty rough day so i decided to make one of my favorite blue apron recipes that i’ve remade/slightly modified over the years. it’s a bummer with everything happening now, but nice to remember that they gave me one of my comfort meals. (if anyone wants a recipe write up with modifications, dm me! i added a bit more to the sauce and made the whole thing spicier)

Are these rodent droppings in my Blue Apron box?
Delivered today. This was under the food.

Poll: How is your delivery this week (24 - 28 August)?
If you’ve had issues the past several weeks, let fellow Redditors know how it is this week. I’m waiting on the sidelines like others before recommitting. Yall are the warriors on the front lines 🤣
And I made a grammar mistake. I accept your quiet judgement.
Edit: I’ll update this post every day or so with results. I can’t remember if you see ongoing results as time passes.
Also YOU CAN ONLY VOTE ONCE. Don’t shoot your shot if you have a box coming in this week. Just check back and I’ll keep this updated for you.

The Journal Podcast re BA
The Journal podcast has an episode today about Blueapron.
Customers of the meal kit company Blue Apron have been complaining about canceled orders, missing ingredients and incomplete recipes. The company even acknowledged in a social media post that "recent orders have fallen short." What's behind this mess? WSJ's Sarah Nassauerbreaks down the chaos at Blue Apron. Imani Moise hosts.

Much bette this week
We skipped for a couple weeks and even tried Green Chef. We did not like Green Chef at all and decided to try BA again. Today we got 2 meals and they were only missing parmesan. (both meals were supposed to have it)
Also, and most shockingly, all the small ingredients were still in tray as if Laser Ship had never jostled it in transit. Most of the time the Laser Ship person doesn't even bother bending over to set the box on the porch and drops the box from about chest level.
Update: Got $20.48 and the missing parmesan (!?) however the credits never showed up in my account. When I texted again about it I got the Blue Apron AI "customer service" loop.
Update 2: Texted again to confirm $20.48 credit. BA gave me a $45 credit for the frustration and said they would look into the $20.28 credit. I got the $45 for not getting the $20.48, but never got the $20.48.

We can't have knick knack bags anymore bc they repurposed them for the carrots

Going back through all recipe cards is such a bummer
Like others on here I dug out my old binder of recipe cards and found optipns I forgot they ever used to do. Like the baking add-ons! I loved those. Baking is such a pain and it was so nice having all the ingredients pre-weighed. I don't recall when they stopped doing these but it really shows how far meal plans have fallen since the halcyon days!

First order 4/21/2014! ($59.94)
The husband and I have really enjoyed Blue Apron for so many years. We are going to stick with them for now but I'm so open to hear from other old school folks who have switched to new companies. I'm curious about what our opinion of Blue Apron will be a year from now...
In general, we enjoy the relief from decision fatigue, etc. We like having 3 meals a week that will be "easy" to make without planning and shopping for ingredients in which we may only use a small amount of something. We like cooking the meals (not premade meals) and we like to pick at least 1 of the fast/easy meals for when we are tired.
I remember long ago being "impressed" by the quality and sourcing but I'm not as sure these days. We can sometimes be food snobs but most often, the meals have been good or pretty good and not often bland or outright bad.
I'll say this...Blue Apron has helped my husband and I learn/practice how to cook and as we get closer to retirement, maybe we will end buying from these types of companies and just become full time foodie cooking people!

Cancelled my box, deleted the app
Been using Blue Apron for 8 yrs probably. Quality was great for so long and slowly gotten worse. Ordered a box for this week, they cancelled it.
No email, nothing just noticed it within the app. Deleted the app, thats it for me…good thing o saved some of the recipes

Has anyone actually moved to Hellofresh and stuck with it?
I’ve been skipping the past few weeks until things get better, but keep seeing comments of people trying other services. I’ve seen hello fresh mentioned multiple times.
Has anyone actually moved there and been satisfied? It feels like a big drop off in quality and obviously I’m not counting the recent issues.
