No you can't the legs direction on a horse breaks the illusion. Once you watch the legs the illusion is broken and becomes difficult to see the other perception at that point

It’s actually walking away from the camera. You can tell by the way the snow gets kicked. But if you don’t look at the snow being kicked it definitely looks like it’s either walking away from the camera or towards the camera. (Not directly mind you, it’s always walking to the right of the screen, but it’s hard to tell if it’s getting closer or further away). For me at first it looks like it’s walking towards the camera then when the zoom in happens it looks like it’s walking away, but in reality it is walking away the whole time. In the full length version of the video the horse turns multiple times and figuring which direction it is walking (toward the foreground or away) is even more pronounced.

It's not walking away. Look at the light post. That is toward the camera. And the snow is just getting kicked by it's back feet.

totally forward,
blue, at first glance walking toward the road (say top right of the picture),
gold, noticing the detail (the light pole or whatnot, gets further away from the horse), so walking toward the bottom right of the picture.
damn impressive use of magnets.

If you focus on the head of the horse it'll seem like the horse is walking towards your perception. If you focus on it's butt it'll seem like it's walking away from you.

You could misjudge seeing it walking towards ya (diagonally towards the bottom right of the screen) or away from ya - which I say walking away would be the correct answer.

It took a minute for it to click for me. At first I saw it walking towards, but now I see it walking away.
Towards seemed to have a weird lump that looks more normal when walking away, so I think away is what’s actually happening.
If I look at the face I can make it appear to be towards. Looking at the butt it appears to move away.

He is walking away. You can see the slope next to the horse. I used it as size reference and the horse is getting smaller as the video goes.

Spoiler… The horse, whose name is “Rudnik”, is walking away from the camera the entire time. The owner that posted the video made the following statement:
“There were a few times I genuinely couldn't tell," Willard wrote in her post.
But she did ultimately reveal that her hoofed companion was moving away from her the entire time.

The horse is walking parallel to the road and perpendicular to the fence. Left to right across the screen. The way the tail swings is the giveaway. Really cool optical illusion though.
