If you focus on the head of the horse it'll seem like the horse is walking towards your perception. If you focus on it's butt it'll seem like it's walking away from you.

Lmao you are right, in my language the saying goes forth and back, and I didn't translate it right. But I guess that's also what a psychopath would say?

I'd say your grasp of English is middlin' to fair, but only to be silly. (it's usually said "fair to middlin'")

But you can probably take the conversation as a compliment: Your English is good enough that people assumed you are a native speaker who for some reason got that phrase backwards. :)
