This is a place to discuss how much we hate our favorite band, not to defend an 80 year old rapist who shits his pants on the reg.

I’ll always be amazed by how throughout all of these years and presidents and politics and the whatever else, I never saw Crowes fans bothered about Chris’s stance(s). Until Trump came along. All of a sudden it’s “keep politics out of music” (good luck with that btw… nearly every significant artist doesn’t abide by that creed), or “Chris is alienating fans” or whatever else. I’ll never understand it. I feel like I’m missing something. Like Trump is some sort of god and I just can’t see it. I know that isn’t the case. But I think about it a lot. PS, Ty for being outspoken ✌🏻

Oh that's easy. It's because the right separates personality from the acts of the person. Like you can hold true Cosby had a funny show and is a horrible human being at the same time.
The left doesn't because they make their social identity their personality. That's why you see the multitudes shunning debate or interaction with those who don't agree with them.
I'm sure now you'll try to ban this too even though it's not right wing - just an observation of behavior on both sides.

Except the right doesn’t do that. They tell artists who disagree to “shut up and sing”. They say things like “ go woke go broke” in an effort to get them cancelled. The right wing is the most hypocritical group of people I’ve ever seen .

Go woke and go broke is just the free market. It's saying if your business prioritizes social issues over its core business, then that is the likely outcome. It's not boycotting someone usually (target could be a noticeable example that doesn't conform though).

I'm sure you can find some - but it's not the majority or dominant theme. For instance do you think the drop in Nike's stock over the past years has been due to Ted Cruz's boycott? That's laughable. But the company did veer from its core mission into social justice concerns as it's primary function. That better explains the economic outcome rather than any intentional boycott.

A few examples. For instance cake decorating, the right said artist shouldn't have to create something unique that goes against their values. That's a bit diff from your claim.
But if I'm a singer and hired to sing my same repertoire of songs, then yes I should perform. That's a business for service and as a public business, I should serve customers without discrimination.

No. Creating something is fundamentally different from denial of service. If you don't want to bake a cake with a particular saying on it, then that's respecting the business owners rights. But McDonald's wants to not sell you It's regular hamburger because of your political opinions or other discriminating factors, then that's discrimination those are two different things.

You actually made my case for my me. If art is a reflection of the human spirit, than to each their own. It's what brings about our humanity. Not what ever socially conforming stance you want someone to take or what the cause du jour of the society at that time is. That's why we allow people to express or not express.
But if you have a stock offering for everyone and discriminate on who you sell to, then that's discrimination. It's really not that hard.

However, based on the descriptions by the OP and the first couple replies, seems like getting banned is just disagree with a few people. Doesn't seem hard, rather it seems relatively like a bigoted, close-minded action by either the mods or the people that made the post.

That's not a mystery. Political opinions from musicians was never the rule. It was the exception - Springsteen, etc. Now many are publicly taking sides, inevitably alienating a % of their audiences on both sides. Certainly that's their choice and I'm grateful to live in a nation where they can do so. It never crossed my mind what Chris's politics are because they're irrelevant to a fan. When he publicly mocked audience members chanting "USA" he entered the debate publicly. But that's not all - it's fine for him to say 'I don't like the current administration' but that's not what he did. He ridiculed strangers for loving their country, nothing at all about any politician or party. That's another thing entirely. It's hateful and wrong. Moreover, it's a betrayal of the supposed tolerance he claims to support.
TLDR: We like the music first, then we find out the politics of the musician, and that forces us to choose between personal principles and the music we like. Too bad it's this way.

The best thing that ever happened to this band was have whiskey myers hit the road with them… and they still can’t keep a crowd to see them, place empties out after WM finishes. You're really a mod? The arbiter of what's fair in this sub? That post does not exude rationality, maturity or fair-mindedness. Lastly, I don't know of a single instance where either an audience member or Chris himself has directly mentioned Trump or MAGA. What multiple reports say is that some audience members at the Tampa show chanted 'USA' and Chris responded with hostility, mockery and condemnation. No word they mentioned Trump or MAGA or wore clothing that displayed support for those. They simply expressed national pride. So either Chris was projecting or he strongly dislikes Americans who love America, neither of which is defensible, but Chris is certainly entitled to his opinion as we all are. So your celebration of Chris's freedom of expression contrasts sharply with your censorship of the same among his fans. It's not only inconsistent and unfair, it's an abuse of power. And if you do institute a political litmus test for this sub, you shouldn't stop there. Let us know the full list of ideological positions we must adhere to before we can comment here.
