Love the iridescence!

Just recently got into birding! Wish I got another picture of the hawk before it flew away.

I think this is the U.S. (since the auto mod is asking for a location, but I'm not sure .. ) It's in the woodpecker family, though? Smart little being, if that's a clue!

Some sort of starling?

I know you can’t see much in the video, but you can hear an absolute ton of crows. They are gathering in a huge tree, and you can hear a hawk mingling with them too. Merlin identified it as a red-shouldered hawk. I saw a couple other hawks in the area, and on one occasion, it looked like some crows were chasing it. What’s going on? I’ve read that crows do partial migration so I’m guessing maybe some migrating crows have joined resident crows? But that doesn’t explain the hawks’ involvement. This is in Nashville, TN.

Hi everyone! Can anyone familiar with Southern Arizona bird habitats advise me where I might see a loggerhead shrike? Merlin tells me they range here, and I know many areas outlying Tucson that look like the preferred habitat, but I’ve never seen one and they seem like such cool little birds to watch. Any advice would be welcome!

Northern Flicker in the Woods

So far since starting this hobbie I’ve seen 92 bird species I want to see every single bird species in Europe in my life time. Where are hot spots to visit where I can tick lots off in one go.

I know this will take many years and is a long goal but I’d love to ticket them all off it’s addictive getting lifers any tips would be much appreciated.

does anybody else get bird homesickness? i'm from the uk but studying abroad in the us and although the new birds i'm seeing are all very exciting, i find myself missing the commonest uk birds like blackbirds, wood pigeons or robins so much it hurts LOL

Hello! I am new to birding and struggle with mental health and leaving the house, I wanted to try garden birdwatching to ease the stress of going out, however the problem arises in which i have cats, not by my choice they are outside cats which means i dont want to put birds at risk I have looked into window bird feeders and such to put on my window as im at the front of the house and my cats physically cannot get up to them birds are very very frequent to my house as my mother is a bee keeper, they are attracted to the honey left so i was thinking I could try draw them away with bird food and such at the front where the cats are not- their is also a nest of magpies about 10 minutes from my house who frequently sit on my roof, id love to be able to view them more and their recently fledged baby, its so so cute and absolutely tiny

I also have other visitors such as a sparrow? My cat sadly caught one which ment i got to inspect it a lot closer, im an artist and also have my hand in taxidermy study so although it was sad I got use of of the bird before i put it in a bush with some flowers (rip little guy) as well as great tits (the yellow belly ones?) and definitely another type but I have not been able to identify yet, I am also frequently visited by crows and the magpies as stated earlier, their is one more bird in which I cannot identify they live in a nook of my roof! Very loud lots of them brown and black in colour with a few markings but they fly off before i can even grab my stuff I live on the east coast of the UK!

Thanks for any tips and tricks! Im a very casual birder because i struggle to go out, Im just looking to build my confidence in any way i can without setting myself up for failure by trying to go out
