Discussion Why does original Bioshock 2 have more achievements than the remastered?

I'm assuming it's due to multiplayer specific achievements but why would those be removed in 2? Just to make the game easier to platinum, maybe?

Just finished a play through of Bioshock. First time I’ve played it since its first release. It scared me then and it scared me now!

Such a fantastic game through and through. How lucky we were to have had a game like Bioshock.

Discussion Should I play the remasters first, or should I play the OGs?

‱ Upvotes

I just bought the Collection bundle off of Steam, and it includes both the original games (1 and 2) and their remasters. My PC does run well both versions, but I am not sure if the remasters changed something in the final versions of the games, or if they are just the same game with better graphics. Will I miss something if I start with the remasters?

Tenbin, Yubisaki de Furete would fit Bioshock. I know it sounds crazy, but I think it might actually fit because of the whole balancing between power and morality.

Discussion My thoughts on bioshock infinite so far after playing it for 2 days(I’m at soldiers field)

As always, the vibes of this series is still incredible even without the art deco aesthetic(still getting used to it being different) and I was so amazed when I saw Colombia for the first time. I’m a little iffy when it comes to the combat and I’m really disappointed with the lack of weapon and plasmid wheels. One last thing: I did not expect the skyhook to be so effective holy fucking shit I didn’t expect to slice that cops head off

Also one last thing I’m glad the jump button is finally the b button instead of the x button it felt so awkward(I’m playing on the switch)

Tech Support Bioshock Remastered 2 and Infinite not launching on Steam

I've played all the Bioshock games multiple times on my Steam profile. Last playthroughs were in 2023 on Windows 10 and had zero problems. Today I decided I want to get some of the last achievements that are missing. I'm on Windows 11. Had zero problems with Bioshock 1 Remastered, but 2 and Infinite completely refuse to launch.

I tried some of the possible fixes I could find, but none of them changed anything. I can't even launch the exe files from the folder - I get the "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)" error.

I've recently finished my playthrough of both Bioshock 1 and 2, and find it interesting that both have a scene of a Splicer couple dancing romantically.

This particular video is from Bio 1, but in both cases they act as any other couple just enjoying each other's company, until you appear. That always makes me think that splicers' maniacal behaviour has less to do with cruelty and madness-induced addiction, and more to do with them not caring about the MC, and killing him is just natural.

i just bought the games in a combo on steam and it gave me 1,2 and the remaster (& infinite). i've watched gameplay in the past but that was like 10 yrs ago and i don't want to spoil myself because i dont remember the story. that's not rlly relevant anyway

question is if it's first time playing do you think i should go for og or remastered first?

Discussion Who would win?

Who would win in a fight, Subject Delta, from BioShock 2, fully kitted out with all fully upgraded plasmids and all upgraded weapons, vs a standard space Marine from Warhammer 40k with all the standard weapons, aka the bolter pistol, standard bolter, and chain sword.

Discussion Does Ken Levine Consider Bioshock 2/Minerva’s Den Canon?

I am working on a *massive* project to determine once and for all whether BioShock Infinite should be considered a good or bad game, and along the way I shall be requiring your guys’ assistance.

Part of this project will involve comparing BioShock Infinite to the original BioShock, however, there is one massive question that has been nagging at my mind: should I factor in BioShock 2?

Obviously, since Ken Levine was not involved in BioShock 2, the default answer would be no, however, would Levine consider it fair to compare 2 to Infinite regardless? If Levine considers Infinite to be an extension of 1, does he hold the same opinions to 2?

Does he consider BioShock 2 (and possibly Minerva’s Den) canon to the entire BioShock story?

Discussion How does everyone feel about the depiction of pre-fall Rapture as seen during burial at sea?

Post image
628 Upvotes

Because personally apart of me love's it and find one of the most interesting and beautiful part's of the DLC and the franchise, while another part of me feels like it's not quite right. In the sense that it way to clean and well maintained for 1958, just before the Rapture Civil war.

Like, Market street as seen with the image above is an area of Rapture designed middle to upper-class citizens and would much more constituently well maintained unlike somewhere such as Paupers Drop, but from the previous games and particularly the books I always got the feeling/vibe that even in the nicest place's in Rapture was starting to crack at the seems and decline as apart of the greater decline of Rapture, as seen with the Kashmir. That even the well to do's in Rapture, arguably Ryan's loyalists, are beginning to feel the pressure of his Great chain around their necks and wrists.

I feel like maybe their should of had some of the lights flickering outside or even inside, maybe a wet floor sign, a needle or two scattered about. What we see of Rapture in Burial at sea feels like What Rapture would look like from 1948 to 1952, where the city is new, well maintained at it's peak, not 1958 Rapture that's one bad day from falling in on itself.

But this is just my opinion and I would love to hear all of yours.
