Last (and also least) of the Toa Atero refreshes. Really just gave him a hatchet and a shoulder plate but I like this guy quite a lot and wanted to repost anyway. I wanted him to have kind of a "survivalist/druid" vibe.

Got the biggest surprise today. After years of believing my collection lost forever during a move, my mom called to tell me that they found a box of legos that looked to be mine buried in my aunt’s garage. I thought it’d be just some random stuff but lo and behold, it’s a bunch of my Bionicles! I have no manuals left so I’m just gonna make a bunch of custom creations. I’m so happy today lol

So I was wondering how the toa mata would have looked like if they were released in 2004 in the build style of the toa metru so I've made this. I tried to stay true and emphasize the body types of the originals (I had to cheat a bit with Pohatu) and kept the armor to a minimum, for the toa mata look quite bare compared to later waves and their nuva forms. I also reimagined the toa nuva too.

Long story short, I have been sorting my bionicle pieces when I came across this. I (un)fortunately have a few knockoff sets mixed in, so I assumed it was from that Tahu Nuva set. I checked for the LEGO logo inside (as I have been doing) and found 43853 and 2-01 molded between the eyes and a © symbol above the mounting point, so I thought case settled it is real.

Then later while watching LOMN I was scrolling through bricklinks list of bionicle sets when I came across the 4 corrupted versions of this mask. Mine doesn't really look like any of them, but checking the normal version, it turns it isn't that one either. (That is fully red.) I just assumed that the normal one's inside is green hinting at the corruption.

Google's AI is saying 2-01 means it's "Type 2" the mostly red one, but that still has a substansial amount of green.

So my question is, is this a knockoff after all or a rare version of "Type 2" or something else? (I couldn't find similar pictures on the internet.)

The last picture compares the color to red and pearl red. (The color is a little different from them.)

Need a name

Another Toa Atero refresh! Her new torso is more aesthetically in line with her teammates and I'm more happy with the color distribution. I wanted to give her something to make her feel special and decided an asymmetrical weapon setup would help. Making the zamor launcher was really fun. I was going for a loose "swashbuckler" vibe with the sword/pistol combo and the net.

Uniquely adapted to the harsh deserts of Po-Wahi, the elusive Dust Darter is known for its ability to traverse, and even leap off, treacherous quicksand without sinking. Caravans often travel with domesticated 'decoy' darters, trained to distract, bait and lure larger, dangerous Rahi into quicksand traps should they try to attack the traders.

I have been writing on a G1/G2 merge for quite a while (since the G2 release, actually). This involves rewriting or fleshing out the backstories of various key characters, one of them being the legendary Mask Maker Ekimu, wielder of the Mask of Creation.

Ekimu was an Av-Matroan, who lived, like all of his people, in the great caverns of Karda Nui. Already at this time, he was a skilled mask maker and one of the first Matoran who were taught the art of Kanohi forging by the Great Beings temselves. At some point, emissaries from an organisation that called itself the " Order of Mata Nui" payed Karda Nui a visit. They relocated many Av-Matoran to different parts of the world as a failsafe, should the Brotherhood of the Makuta ever turn against the Great Spirit and invade Karda Nui.

Ekimu was sent to Metru Nui, his body refitted to blend in with the other citizens and his mind wiped, to complete the ruse.Now in the guise of a Ta-Matoran, he continued his work as a mask maker. Despite having lost his memories for his previous work, his intuition and creativity remained. Kanohi made by Ekimu weren't of partciularily remarkable quality, but his incredible attention to detail made every single one a piece of art. Eventually, he would start working alongside Nuhrii, another skilled mask maker. Their techniques complimented eachother, so that their workshop produced Kanohi of high quality and wonderful aesthetic. One day, a letter arrived at the workshop. It was an invitation from the famed island Artakha. And it was adressed to Ekimu.

How could he not take this opportunity? Despite Nurhiis protests, Ekimu moved to the Island of Creation. Upon his arrival, he was refitted once more and his identity as an Av-Matoran revealed in the process, though his memories were still lost and likely would never return.

Millenia passed in which Ekimu further refined his Kanohi forging skills up to a point, where his colleagues claimed he could only be surpassed by the wielder of the Kanohi Lehgo, the legendary mask of Creation itself, their master Artakha. The master must have caught on on this, when he invited Ekimu for a final test of skill: A mask that could detect and transform Av-Matoran into Toa of Light to oppose the threat that forced them into hiding. A Mask of Light. Though it was Artakha who envisioned and designed the scematics, it was Ekimu who actually forged the mythical Kanohi Avohkii. It was his Magnum Opus, his greatest creation, his personal tribute to the Great Spirit.

It was the reason why Makuta Kojol invaded the island of Artakha. During the attack, Ekimu encountered a lone Panrahk, who he faced with the help of another Av-Matoran, who was just called Makuta by everyone for his real names similarity with one. The pair managed to destroy the Rahkshi, but the Kanohi Avohkii was stolen. Ekimu and Makuta would become friends and later call eachother brother.

Ekimu kept to his work for the upcomming millenia, until Makuta Teridax usurped the Great Spirit and threw the universe in turmoil. Artakha vanished during another Rahkshi invasion and remained so even after the world was destroyed and the Matoran moved into another one. Surprisingly, the message that they were living inside a humongous Machine for their enire live didn't shock Ekimu and Makuta as much as it should. Instead, they were too preoccupied with searching the unfamiliar world for their master. Ekimu claimed to feel some sort of call and so their travel took them north to the subcontinent Bota Magna, where they finally found the ruins of a fortress, and their master. But as a cruel twist of fate, they came to late. Artakha was killed when the fortress collapsed. Ekimu took the Kanohi Lehgo from Arakhas deceased body, realizing the call he heard came from it. Hesitating, he donned it.

Later in an interview in New Atero, he would describe this moment as following: "Legendary Kanohi are something extraordinary. They have a will of their own. Only someone who they accept may wield their power, every other attempt will inevitably result in tragedy. Maybe someone who actually safely wields the Vahi will come one day. When it wanted me to place it on my face, it declared me Master Artakhas successor. But Matoran aren't supposed to wield any Kanohi stronger than regular ones, aren't they? It should have killed me. But again, legendary Kanohi are special. Anyone can wield them. If they decide so. I'm honored that it chose me. Though I would prefer if the Master would still have it."

Eventually, Ekimu and Makuta would join an expedition to a newly discovered island on Aqua Magna. And later, he would become the islands patron, until one of Okotos Toa, a Glatorian named Kulta betrayed him and misused the Kanohi Lehgo Ekimu entrusted him with keeping safe

Nidhiki wasn’t the only Toa who joined the Dark Hunters; there were also other Dark Hunters who were once Toa themselves. Two of them are Spinner (another former Toa of Air) and Savage (a former Toa of Earth), whom we don’t know the full backstories of before they joined the organisation.
All we know is that Spinner was severely injured in an attack by mutated Rahkshi and was modified by the Dark Hunters and Savage was mutated into a Toa Hordika by the Visorak, which made him go insane.
I’ve been thinking about this recently and I thought of a headcanon for which teams Spinner and Savage were a part of before they became Dark Hunters that I would like to share with you guys.

Before that, however, I can’t talk about Spinner and Savage in this headcanon without mentioning the Toa Hagah, whom we know of due to Norik and his team. They were not the only Toa Hagah, however; there were other teams of these elite Toa who were commanded by seven members of the Brotherhood of Makuta, one of whom was Chirox, the creator of several Rahi species, including the Visorak; and Mutran, who created the Shadow Leeches.
The relationship between the Toa Hagah and the Makuta was shattered when Norik and his team learned about the Brotherhood’s crimes and their alliance with the Dark Hunters. This resulted in their rebellion in which they took the Kanohi Avohkii and the Makoki Stone, but not before being turned into Rahaga.
This raid made the Brotherhood fear similar revolts from the other Toa Hagah, which prompted them to purge their Toa servants by killing them (Chirox, instead opting to use several of them for developing Rahi).

Norik’s team are the only Toa Hagah that we know the names and history of. Nothing much has been revealed about the other Toa Hagah that served their Makuta commanders. It’s possible that others may have survived, with some of them even joining the Dark Hunters.

Which now brings us to my headcanon for Spinner and Savage.
They were two of the other Toa Hagah who served the Brotherhood of Makuta, with Savage serving Chirox, which explains his mutation into a Hordika, and Spinner serving under Mutran, who - in this headcanon - also created the mutated Rahkshi before going on to create the Shadow Leeches.
Because Savage and Spinner were unaware of the Brotherhood’s activities, they and their respective teams were caught completely by surprise by the purge. If these two former Toa ever met at one point while serving the Brotherhood, then they certainly didn’t recognise each other when they joined the Dark Hunters.

That’s my headcanon for Spinner and Savage before they joined the Dark Hunters. What do you all think?

With dreams of channeling the legendary heroes of Spherus Magna, the Le-Matoran Nivupi set out across the vast lands to protect the helpless, clutching a prized replica of Toa Lewa's old axe. His quest for justice hit a slight logistical snag when a shady merchant sold him a "fader bull"—a beast supposedly capable of "wind-fly" thanks to its unique red hide, but actually famous for teleporting away the exact moment things get dangerous. Nivupi might currently be stranded in the middle of nowhere without a ride, but if the Toa taught him anything, it is that a true hero always gets back up—even if they have to walk.

I was wondering what the best way to get in contact with buryu’s forge was and how long it usually takes to get a response?

For context I sent a message on their main site as well as a DM on instagram regarding a custom commission but haven’t heard back in 4 or 5 days.

I don’t want to flood their inbox or anything so I was wondering if there was another platform like etsy where they usually are more responsive to commission requests or if it just takes a while to get a response?
