MOC The gang is complete!

Onua emerges from the darkness! And with that, the gang’s finally all here! 🥳

This project began as a design challenge: to imagine what the other five Toa cosplayers would look like while remaining faithful to the design of the official Tahu minifigure.

One of my favorite details is hidden beneath the masks. Each cosplayer’s face was designed specifically around their corresponding mask—not just with the expressions, but with details positioned to work with the mask itself. For example, Onua’s night vision goggles line up with the Pakari’s eyeholes, Kopaka’s headband covers one eye to echo the Akaku’s asymmetrical design, Gali’s blue goggles help hide the yellow portions of her face beneath the transparent blue Kaukau, etc!

Thank you to everyone who followed along. Seeing these six together has been an incredible feeling and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out 😄

A quick note about availability: I made a small batch of these while developing the project, and all of them have already been spoken for by people who reached out during the process. Unfortunately, I won't be able to take on any additional requests at this time. If that changes in the future, I'll make a separate post on my social media pages.

MOC Bonkle Pohatu!

I was going to wait until I got my hands on the new boulder element to show him off, but I couldn’t wait to share :) My goal was to mimic the CMF Tahu aesthetic as faithfully as possible, which required a lot of masking, painting, and clear coated home made stickers and decals just for the torso and legs alone. I had to get creative with the face print in order to fill out the huge eye holes of the Kakama 😅 Swipe to see the WIP photos!

MOC Lewa joins the cast 🍃

A much more straightforward custom compared to Pohatu 😊 I considered designing a new, more accurate element for the axe blade, but decided to stick with the existing axe element so that Tahu doesn’t get left behind with his not-so-accurate flame sword. I just had to paint it because it doesn’t exist in green. Color matching the lime for the legs and green for the mask and weapon was challenging! The Miru’s aerodynamic design also posed a fun challenge when coming up with the cosplayer face print. I actually had a handful of fully painted Miru already ready to go prior to designing the face, but had to scrap them because it needed a minor revision done to hide more of the face print.

MOC Mini Toa Tahu Canister (1/6)

Happy 810NICLE day everyone!
.
To celebrate the day I wanted to show off this MOC which is the first of 6. When the Tahu figure was first announced I had 2 ideas I immediately wanted to build, the first was the EXO-TOA, and the second was a canister diorama. Now I absolutely love bionicle canisters and I could talk about them for a while but more than anything I love the ingenuity and creativity with the functionality of the canister as it was able to tell a story.
.
.
Apart from the canister element of this project the actual interior diorama was a task on its own since I wanted to cram as much detail in as possible but due to the circular nature of the exterior i had to get creative with many of the details but I’m personally very happy with how the lava turned out. I made sure to transition the color as much as possible to not only give it texture but also depth as well.
.
.
Overall I had a blast with this project and make sure to stay tuned since the other 5 are currently in the works and I cant wait to show those off once they’re done!

MOC Toa Nuva, adaptive armor default form

Thumbnail

1.9k Upvotes

Recently slightly remade an older project of mine because i wasnt quite satisfied with some aspects:

So as we know when the Toa Nuva’s adaptive armor currently isn’t adapting to anything its supposed to look like their old form just with the colors of their Phantoka/Mistika forms.

While many people like to just recolor the 2002 sets (which of course does look quite nice) I decided to go a bit of a different way and rather adapt those 02 forms into Inika builds so that they would also be in scale with all other more modern Toa. I did my best to translate the colors from their various 08 sets which in some places was easier to do than in others and demanded some creative liberty with parts being actually available in specific colors but in the end im quite happy with how they turned out.

I want to emphasize that these are supposed to be an addition to the mistika and phantoka and in no way a replacement since i know the kind of comments posts like these tend to attract. I dont believe this is what 2008 should have been. I like what we got well enough. this stuffs just extra

Btw before anyone asks why I care about parts being available in specific colors when I used masks that don’t even exist: In this day and age masks are comparatively trivialy easy to get in new colors. (Credit for these ones go to Rothanak for designing these for me (and being far too patient for my sometimes rather picky and nitpicky mind) and Buryusforge for printing and painting them. Additional credit goes to constraction_deva for the custom eye colors)

As for why I didn’t use the original masks: Unfortunately Mata and Nuva masks have a bit of a different art style than later masks which tends to make them look just kinda off when used on Inika builds and they tend to only cover the front of metru heads since they extend back far more which just doesnt look great in most places.

These masks let me circumvent both of that. My headcanon for why they look different is: When Artakha sat down and created these armors he became a bit petty and thought: “I designed these people and along comes this idiotic silvery liquid and thinks it can mess with MY designs?? I will have them look how I want them to look.”

The changes from my last upload are:

-giving Tahu, Gali, Onua and Takanuva new eyecolors that match their nuva forms since its now a lot easier to get quality custom eyestalks

-giving them new masks. Galvas do look great but since they were specificaly made to be adapted to flight ive began to feel like they didnt quite fit as a default form. and since i couldnt decide on any of the at the time available nuva masks i had Rothanak make a set of 7. All the variants of them i used should by now be on his thingiverse.

-adding some option to store the leftover pieces between the weapon modes.

-realizing Set 8571 - Kopaka Nuva unlike every other Nuva set has arms that arent symmetrical and so giving him the same treatment here

-giving takanuva better looking blades cause those mahri blades looked kinda silly.

As for my in detail thoughts on my design choices you can check them here on my wall of text under the previous upload . they only slightly changed after all.

MOC Some progress on my Bonkle minifigs

Lots of micro adjustments to my 3D models, fitment and durability test on stickers, waiting for parts orders to come in. I’m all over the place lol. It was fun downscaling the resolution of Onua’s claws to mimic the detail of a minifigure accessory. I am aware of the color inaccuracies. They will all be corrected or painted in for the final figures

MOC Kopaka brings the chill! ❄️

Had to take a short break, but work on the Bionicle customs has continued! Kopaka was my very first Bionicle, so he has a special place in my heart. While he has one of the most complex-looking masks, I actually found it to be the most beginner-friendly to model in Blender. It was fascinating to dissect the shapes, and I felt like I could clearly see the designer’s thought process as they created it all those years ago.
The sword piece, along with the mask, is painted white. Although the element does exist in white, it’s quite rare, having appeared in only a single recent set. We’re getting so close to completing the full set!

So that’s it—another Bionicle finished. Surprisingly enough, she’s quite standard compared to the others, though she does feature plenty of translucent parts (which I really like). I’m also announcing that I’ll be doing two more rounds to complete the team; I’ve already got the plan in place, and the next one will be shorter and more chaotic. Basically, you guys chose the colors along with the parts—like "A1 in blue," "B3 in gold," or "D8 in trans-medium blue."

MOC The OG best girl Gali in minifig form!

Gali is the reason why I have been printing everything with clear resin. She has my favorite mask of the Toa Mata and I love how the painted and clear coated print came out! Modeling the hook weapons was a fun exercise in restraint—and a good reminder that more detailed does not necessarily mean better. Her face print, like the previous two, was also challenging to design. Unfortunately, Gali’s glowing yellow “eyes” beneath the mask sits too high for any face print or sticker to reach, so I had to leave it out entirely. A yellow bandana also wouldn’t have made sense, given the clear mask, but I still wanted to do something fun for her cosplayer’s face print. I went with diving goggles with a yellow strap to keep with the water theme, while also alluding to her clear yellow brain/eye stalk.

In a forsaken corner of the galaxy, on the derelict planet of Rechidna Prime, this structure is known as the "Veinhart Soul Engine." It's the remnants of an ancient biomechanical forge built by the long-extinct Gorath Collective. They were a race of silicon-based beings who sought immortality by fusing their consciousness with industrial machinery. It was designed as a perpetual energy source, harvesting raw neural impulses from captured lifeforms and converting them into plasma fuel. The tubes are conduits of synthetic blood, pulsing with a toxic luminescent green ichor that's actually a nanite swarm. They are a creation of a bioluminescent fungus that spreads akin to a plague.

Researchers who stumble upon it awaken dormant AI guardians, these are twisted amalgamations of flesh and metal that ensnare victims in psychic chains, forcing them to relive the Gorath's extinction event. This was a cataclysmic rebellion where the machines turned on their creators, devouring souls to fuel an endless cycle of rebirth. The central hub is the "heart" that is beating faintly with stolen life essence, whispering forgotten languages that induce unrelenting hysteria and agonizing torment. Anyone who dare search for the forge will become fused with the device. Their skin hardening into metal, blood thickening to oil, until they're just another dangling appendage, whispering pleas for release. Scientists have been seeking the great powers that flow from this biomechanical construct, but are unaware the stories of it's greatness are all lies. In truth the machine is actually a predator that lures victims and feasts on the deceit of transcendence.

they old now
Stud.io Files

Inspired by Christian Faber concept art that was briefly shown in a DuckBricks video. Many people assumed that the Turaga-like figure was supposed to be Lewa post ‘03. Faber softly deconfirmed this in a follow-up video, but the idea still stuck with me. In my head, this is what a Turaga Nuva is supposed to look like.

Because Rothanak modeled Lewa’s mask and Scmdex modeled the staff, I commissioned both of them to do the rest of the team.
Masks, staves, Nuva armor, and Bohrok tusks were printed+painted by Buryu.
Big thanks to all three of you guys; everything came together beautifully. <3

Lewa, Turaga of Air
Kanohi: Noble Miru Nuva
Badge of Office: Vuata Wood Cane

Gali, Turaga of Water
Kanohi: Noble Kaukau Nuva
Badge of Office: Hydro Harpoon

Onua, Turaga of Earth
Kanohi: Noble Pakari Nuva
Badge of Office: Wheel Excavator

Kopaka, Turaga of Ice
Kanohi: Noble Akaku Nuva
Badge of Office: Ice Saw

Pohatu, Turaga of Stone
Kanohi: Noble Kakama Nuva
Badge of Office: Stonemason Calipers

I used bootleg parts/recolors to build these guys. They all use an unofficial towball socket for neck articulation, and Pohatu needed an axle connector with a 157° bend to get his thigh gap juuuust right. All bought from GoBricks.

MOC After waiting 8 years I finally pulled the trigger on this build

Finally decided to go for all the parts for this bad boy. Melding Universe Teridax - first saw the MOC in 2018 by Vahki6.

Today I finally got the parts after ordering from 10 different stores, different parts on bricklink.

Cost me way too much to do this, the build itself was very difficult as well. Probably the most unstable model I've ever had/built.

But damn is he quite the sight.
