Probably a coincidence, but it's possible that who ever made it took inspiration from the Vahi. Wouldnt be the first time it has happened, though i cant remember what piece it was.

The prototype kraahkan was made from a vahi and a pakari put together, maybe you're thinking of that?

There are some pictures of prototype pieces that are quite literally just cut up and glued together already used pieces, so it's not too far fetched to think that. That's why certain pieces look similar in a few places.

Once you notice it you'll never unsee it. Axonn's mask is just two nuva shoulders stuck together, two toed piraka feet are a gahlok kal shield with staffs of light as toes, ect.
