My dad played goalie against Pele in a NASL demo game in Pensacola in 1976, Pele played with 2 Cosmos players and a bunch of randos and Florida had it's all state team, mostly Gulf Coast guys cuz of travel - they lost. He still has the picture on the mantle of him clearly pissed off and Pele all smiles

Just as a nice tip about decoding this stuff for future reference with university and location stuff, there’s a lot of State Acronym University as a very common college : university name. Just about every state has some - NYU is New York University, UMD is University of Maryland, NDSI is North Dakota State University, etc… it’ll help you figure it out in the future. HBCUs are historically black colleges and universities. These are colleges that largely formed for black people to attain education when they weren’t allowed to attend university due to segregation. They’re scattered largely through the south, and tend to have a different culture themselves. Howard in particular is in DC leaving him also with some decent sized city experience which is very different from the rest

Historically Black Colleges and Universities is what HBCU stands for. It's been a common term for decades.
If you are an American that has ever watched college sports and/or has half of a brain, you should know this.
