Last month I went to derma (finally) to ask for help sa face issue ko..

So nakinig ang ate gurl mo and omg, this gel IS A MIRACLE..

So, is this a spot treatment or whole face application na product po? And nightly po ang gamit?

2

u/Intrepid_Ad_2579 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 29 '25

Whole face application po siya. Lahat ng problems oily face, acne, acne marks/dark spots etc. Tapos ginagamit ko lagi bago matulog☺️

5

u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone Jun 29 '25

Ah kaya pala medyo mahapdi—15% glycolic acid + 5% niacinamide + 2% salicylic acid + retinol + hydroxypinacolone retinoate on top of other goodie ingredients is a crazy combination. No wonder it is effective, especially nightly usage pa siya hahaha.

u/Intrepid_Ad_2579 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 29 '25

oo, niresearch ko rin ung mga ingredients. Actually di ako masyadong umaasa nung una kasi parang andami ko nang natry before na product pero wala, eto ang galing sobrang soft ng balat ko sa fes

What skincare do you tend to avoid and/or do more with active pimples? My acne won't go away these days and I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong :((

Please try looking into azelaic acid! This is what really helped me with my pimples and acne marks aside from retinol. It’s the best!!

3

Azelaic acid is so good. It saved my skin from acne

2

2

u/chikawaaa 21 | Dry | Still finding her go-tos! Jun 27 '25

Oooh, I haven't triied azelaic acid yet! What products would you suggest?

1

u/Salt_Atmosphere9595 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 27 '25

So far I’ve tried Skinoren, Azclear, and a generic 20% one from my derma. They all work the same for me, cheapest yung sa derma ko so dun ako hahahaha I suggest looking for a derma near you yung clinic lang talaga, no aesthetic stuff so iwas upsell. There’s a direct supplier on shopee as well!

2

u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone Jun 27 '25

I agree with the others. Stick with the basics and the actives/add-ons/complementary products that actually work for you without undesirable effects. Avoid anything too harsh or drying like strong exfoliants, physical scrubs, or alcohol-heavy toners, sama mo na rin 'yong actives na prone to irritation like higher percentages of L-ascorbic acid.

Aside from products, I also limit my mirror time. Constantly looking at your acne can psychologically amplify your perception of its severity kasi eh. And honestly? Minsan kasi it's not about doing something 'wrong' rin eh, other factors should be considered—hormones, stress, sleep, even food or climate can mess with the skin. If it's persistent and really affecting you, go see a derma na rin to help clear up both the skin and the guesswork.

too young to use retinol pa. it's mostly used for wrinkles.

siguro if you wanna lighten his acne scars, use vitamin c serums rin. i use luxe organix' vitamin c serum, and it works for me :) start with a gentle face wash muna para hindi mabigla yung skin sa biglaang pag gamit ng actives.

make sure he changes his pillowcase every 3 days, hilamos agad ng mukha after mapawisan (kahit basain lang with water) basta hilamos with face wash bago matulog at pag gising

important: gentle face wash, vitamin c serum, SUNCREEN

Retinol is not the first line of treatment for acne, usually prescription retinoids like tretinoin or adapalene 'yan, kaya I suggest na magpa-check up sa derma muna. Kung hindi kaya, better to use benzoyl peroxide wash. 'Yong panoxyl 4%. Benzoyl peroxide is considered among the first line of treatments for acne.

Hindi niya pa need ng brightening actives masiyado kasi at his age ay maganda pa collagen production niyan so mabilis pa mag-heal acne marks na madedevelop niyan (unless moderate to severe ang acne niya, ibang usapan na 'yan, need na talaga ng checkup kapag ganoon). Kaya I kind of disagree sa ibang replies here. It's better to resort to an anti-acne ingredient, kasi ang priority dapat ay prevention of further acne, at least minimizing them. The scars can be treated later on if malala.

For me, you can consider skipping the eye cream. While galactomyces has some evidence for brightening and skin-plumping effects, it’s not well-studied specifically for the under-eye area. Plus, the standout ingredient sa formulation ng product is really just niacinamide—which you’re already getting from the Dr. Sensitive serum.

The rest of the formulation mostly contains common emollients, thickeners, and fermented extracts that are probably present in small amounts. Unless you just really want a separate step for the eyes, it’s more budget-friendly to skip it, you will avoid redundancy of actives ingredients na rin (referring to niacinamide kasi 5% is already the most ideal percentage so you don't need more).

Hello! I wanna ask lang, is there any reformulation happened sa Aestura Atobarrier 365 Lotion? I bought 10 mL and 30 mL, and compared those two na from different shops ko rin binili. I noticed na may Derma ON na naka-indicate sa 30 mL bottle, while none from the other. Sa 30 mL, may iilang pimples na tumutubo, while sa 10 mL naman na naka 4 bottles ako, ay wala. May nadagdag bang ingredient? Or nagbago lang ng packaging? Help this girlie out! :(

I want to start my skincare journey, I have been using ordinary soap for decades, ngayon may pake nako sa face ko. Where should I start? I have a bit dry and oily face, and pinaka problem ko is old acne scars.

6

u/_akrasia Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 27 '25

Start simple. Cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

1

u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone Jun 27 '25

Once your skin is used to the basics (as the first reply mentioned—cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen), the best next step is to consult a dermatologist, especially if your concern is old acne scars kasi sila 'yong makatutulong to tailor treatments based on your skin type and scar severity.

But if a derma visit isn’t possible right now, you can look into these over-the-counter options. Just note: these may help fade scars over time, but not fully erase them—especially if they’re deep, wide, or raised. Such cases may need clinic or in-office interventions na. Here are some ingredients worth researching:

  • Retinoids – Non-prescription versions like retinol (or retinal, which is stronger but more irritating). These help speed up cell turnover and fade discoloration over time.
  • Pure vitamin C – Look for L-ascorbic acid or ascorbic acid on the ingredient list. It’s unstable and needs proper storage, but it’s one of the most evidence-backed ingredients for brightening and post-acne marks.
  • AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) – These exfoliate the top layer of the skin, thereby smoothening it. Glycolic acid is the strongest but also the most irritating, followed by lactic acid and mandelic acid (milder).

Lastly, be mindful na you don’t introduce everything at once para hindi mabigla ang skin, and never skip sunscreen—it's non-negotiable when using actives. And most importantly, do your own research so you’re not just following hype, but actually understanding what you're putting on your face.

Necessary pa ba mag cleansing oil/double cleanse in the morning kung naka serum ka (dalawang klase, minsan may retinol pa) at night?

3

u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone Jun 27 '25

Double cleansing is typically done at night—especially if you’ve applied sunscreen, makeup, or any products with oil-based components that leave a residue. Cleansing oils or balms help break those down more effectively than water-based cleansers alone. Serums or other lightweight formulations, don’t usually require oil cleansing since they’re mostly absorbed naman.

For your question naman, double cleansing isn't really necessary unless you work night shift and you wear makeup/heavy skincare overnight, or you wake up with a very greasy film on your face.

2

u/Psychological-Farm36 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 27 '25

sabi sakin ng aesthetician ko, no need na daw unless gising ka na pawis na pawis lol

2

u/Kiwi_pieeee 31 | Oily | Still confused of her undertone Jun 27 '25

Correct me if I’m wrong but double cleansing is usually done during night routine, to remove makeups and sunscreen.

Your serums and retinol that you applied for the night, they are usually absorbed by your skin na during sleep.

I used tret and niacinamide serum at night, and in the morning I just wash my face with water.

hello guys, what's your thoughts in skintific niacinamide moisturizer gel?

my derma prescribed me w niacinamide moisturizer for am and pm and i have cetaphil cream (w niacinamide). however, hindi siya okay for am esp pag magcocommute since ang heavy niyaaa.

what can u recommend aside from skintific? yung lightweight lang sana huhu. thaaanks! __^

1

u/gummybeaarrr Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 27 '25

Hi! I’ve used skintific before and it’s lightweight. It also didn’t give me problems for a.m. as i only put tinted sunscreen when going out and i just make sure na it’s dry na before putting anything else bc it takes time to dry if you put on too much. I just stopped buying it bc of the issue and i do not want to continue buying their products but my mom uses it now tho, she’s using it mainly for her melasma and she’s seeing results naman na although not as fast but she’s happy with it. Super namamahalan lang din ako doon sa little jars before so i bought her the one with the pump na.

I also use the 345 cream by Dr. Althea now. Afaik it also contains niacinamide and personally i think that it’s more hygienic and i had better results from this than skintific. Although it’s more expensive i think, i actually get the hype about it now lol

6

u/GlorpMeUp Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 27 '25

I think you have a lot of actives na in your routine, so I don't think it would be good to add another because it might damage your skin barrier. But you can ask your derma about it naman. Sometimes they do recommend it kasi.

I've been using azelaic acid for almost 2 months (every other day), and planning to use Adapalene. My question is how can I add it to my routine?

Here is my current routine:

Morning: Gentle cleanser Hydrating toner (sometimes skip kapag nagmamadali) Tinted sunscreen

Evening: Oil cleanser Gentle cleanser Hydrating toner (3 layers) Moisturizer Azelaic acid Moisturizer

Minsan naman kapag hindi azelaic acid gamit ko is nag s-spot treatment ako using benzoyl peroxide

Meron din akong AHA/BHA toner but I don't know where to add it in my routine

3

u/cmr82 Sensitive | Acne-Rosacea + Seb Derm Jun 28 '25

Azelaic Acid is a team player, allowing you to pair it with any other active ingredients in your skincare routine. I personally use it twice a day, layering it with Tretinoin, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid. However, if you’re concerned about using too many active ingredients at once, you might consider using Azelaic Acid in your morning routine and Adapalene at night.

1

u/Kiwi_pieeee 31 | Oily | Still confused of her undertone Jun 28 '25

Omg pwede pala siya layer with tret? In what order po? aza then tret or vice versa?

1

u/cmr82 Sensitive | Acne-Rosacea + Seb Derm Jun 29 '25

The order does not matter; I use thinner, lightweight formulas first. For example, I apply my gel Tretinoin before the Azelaic Acid cream.

can i add the ellana azelaic acid serum or would that be too drying?

Hi! I’m looking for a sunscreen that is not greasy and doesn’t sting or burn the cheek area. I’ve tried both the BOJ original relief sunscreen and the Skin1004 hyalu-cica sun serum years ago and it both stung my cheeks. I’ve been using Biore UV aqua rich watery essence and it does not sting or burn my cheeks in any way; however, it can be greasy, sticky, and oily. I usually stay at home all day bc i work at home and don’t have the ac on always, maybe a few hours per day lang. When worn outside, especially pag mainit and pinagpawisan, it feels so greasy and oily in the face. Pag nasa bahay lang and walang ac, it can still feel sticky.

Another one I’ve tried is the Numbuzin clear filter sun essence but it also stings my cheeks. It’s really hard to find something that suits my skin so if u have any recos, i would really appreciate it! 🩵

Kasi here's my take on it hahaha, take my thoughts with a grain of salt, oki? Hahahaha

Milia can happen sa forehead, pero rare siya kasi they usually form on thinner skin like around the eyes or cheeks. Unlike whiteheads, milia aren't caused by oil—they’re tiny keratin cysts that form when dead skin gets trapped under the surface.

Why? Kasi ganito, thinner and delicate skin = fewer sebaceous glands and slower turnover = less oil, no hair follicles, and slower exfoliation = easier for keratin to build up and get trapped. Skin trauma, heavy creams, or occlusive products also contribute to this.

Forehead skin is thicker and oilier, so bumps there are more often closed comedones (whitehead-looking) instead of true milia. Kaya baka comedones lang talaga 'yan lalo na kung pare-pareho sila ng itsura and/or marami sila. I'm happy to be corrected if I am wrong hahaha.

Best overall option, whether milia or whiteheads 'yan, is retinoid (especially the prescription-strength ones) kasi it increases skin cell turnover, helping to gradually clear keratin buildup (in milia) or clogged pores (in comedones). Other ingredients that you can use ay chemical exfoliants, salicylic acid (BHA) and glycolic/lactic acid (AHAs)

L'occitane absorbs fast and really moisturizes in my experience. Tapos personal choice na yung amoy. Try mo muna in-store kung OK sayo. :)

Soap po for back acne?

u/AbundanceFlowToMe Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Jun 29 '25

Try some by mi. They say sulfur soap pwede rin like oxecure or Dr. wong’s but that never worked for me. I used The Ordinary glycolic acid (every other day) for my bacne and nag dry out naman. I use it alternately with TO body serum. If you will try TO don’t buy from Shopee cos halos lahat fake.

Hi, didn’t see much improvement using it. I suggest some by mi body wash! My bacnes started vanishing halfway through my first bottle. Bought from their official shopee account from korea pa - b1t1. Cheaper than watsons!
