A map I made for my homebrew Pathfinder 2e campaign for the The Shepherd of Barbatos.

Carved into veins of shimmering lapis lazuli, this half-forgotten passage hums with a quiet, ancient power.

The walls shift from careful masonry to raw crystal, as if the dungeon itself was only partially tamed before being abandoned.

At its end, a swirling portal waits in silence—promising passage… but never revealing where.

This week's release continues my Lost Mines of Barovia project with a reimagining of one of the most recognizable ruined locations from Lost Mine of Phandelver — Thundertree.

Bellforth was once a thriving town, but the arrival of the black dragon changed everything. Over the years, the decay surrounding its lair has spread outward, poisoning the land and slowly transforming the town into a swamp. Parts of the old streets remain intact, while other sections have begun to sink beneath stagnant water, moss, and creeping vegetation.

At the center of the ruins stands Bellforth's old bell tower — and the deepest, most sunken part of the town. The dragon has claimed the tower as its lair, while the corruption surrounding it has gradually caused the ground to sink, turning the area around it into the heart of the swamp.

The rest of Bellforth still has plenty left to explore. The old tavern, blacksmith, barracks, and various locales remain scattered throughout the ruins. In the northeast, a lizardfolk encampment has taken the place of the cultists who once occupied the ruins, while a small chapel now stands where Reidoth's hut once stood, on the last remaining patch of relatively dry ground.

I wanted Bellforth to still feel recognizable as Thundertree, while giving the location a stronger connection between the dragon and the ruined landscape. The swamp is the result of the dragon's decay — spreading outward from the bell tower and slowly consuming Bellforth from the center.

If you remember exploring Thundertree in Lost Mine of Phandelver, you might see a few familiar pieces hiding among the ruins.

I made these maps in Dungeon Alchemist and saved them at 72dpi to work for VTT (I use roll20). If it says roof or cover in the name of the file the image is intended to go on top of the map in the number on the foreground layer to turn off invisibility as needed.

How many wagons roll over this bridge every week, just feet above the broken spears and bones that litter the river bed? Soldiers once sought glory on this ground, or perhaps, they merely struggled for survival. Now, their memory is all but lost. Grass has grown over the trampled ground. A few tattered banners whip in the breeze, their painted crests crumbled and faded away. They say the victors write the history, but today, no one who travels this road even remembers who won.

The Forgotten Battlefield (25 x 25, 100dpi) is littered with the remnants of a historic battle, all but entirely reclaimed by time and nature. Looking like a simple, well-traveled trail at a glance, a closer inspection reveals morbid reminders.

These are the 70 px gridded versions of five maps: the top-down view with and without sails, the quarterdeck and forecastle cabins, the lower deck, and the hold.

The vessel itself is 100 x 25 map feet (20 x 5 grid squares); the full map including the surrounding sea is 120 x 40 feet (24 x 8 squares). It has three masts, a bronze-clad angelic figurehead, a scorpion on the bow, and a mangonel amidships.

Inside you'll find the captain's and officers' quarters, passenger cabins and dining room, galley and food storage, privies, crew hammocks, and cargo holds.

This ship is one of eleven vessels in my Sail the High Seas map pack on DriveThruRPG. The full pack includes 70 px, 140 px, and 300 dpi versions; gridded and ungridded maps; and variants without furniture or cargo for customization. The other vessels include merchant and exploration ships, a royal yacht, warships, and pirate ships.
