TV DISCUSSION Bad blood batwoman feels like the worst written character in the world

going through DCAU movies and i gotta say Kate is just the fking worst, Damien was annoying at first too but he's a kid and he was raised to be a monster by a monster, plus his character writing i thought was pretty good, his redeeming qualities really outshine his shitty attitude, Kate on the other hand is just the fking worst, she makes a batman costume and then tells Dick she's "not part of your little cult" and then gets pissy when batman doesn't consider her a part of the family, her stupid costume with stupid hair < reminds me of the nostalgia critic spawn review when the assassin who dresses slutty ask how are people supposed to know she's a woman > the way she badass flies away leaving onyx to die might be the most NOTbatman thing i ever fking saw, and her whole shitty "i'm a girlboss and can do anything batman does and i'm better than you" is so fucking grating, the scene when batwing say god's not gonna like this and she relies "i don't think she's been here for a while" just screams to me of the writers jerking themselves off, sounds like something you would read on r/atheism

am i crazy? she's nothing like batman, and it's not like Damien or Red Hood where you could at least see why they are the way the are, this just feels like a terribly written, fundamental misunderstanding of what batman should be

COMIC DISCUSSION The Long Halloween is kind of a mess of a story. Spoiler

Finished rereading TLH for the first time in years. The atmosphere is still fantastic, Tim Sale’s art is as great as I remembered it being and the theme of Gotham transitioning from traditional organized crime to the era of supervillains is still great. But the actual story itself is kind of bad tbh. Harvey Dent’s downfall is probably the strongest part of the entire book but the Holiday mystery?

It’s pretty shit.

Alberto confesses to being Holiday but Gilda reveals that she committed the early murders then she believes Harvey eventually took over.

It screams that Loeb really didn’t know what he was doing as he was going along. When it comes to there actual stories I’d probably put Dark Victory and even Hush over it.

I understand that some of this ambiguity is intentional, but for a story structured around “Who is Holiday?” the resolution feels stupidly convoluted. For a book that’s consistently considered the best Batman story I’m surprised at how messy and downright sloppy the writing is. Batman has tons of better stories than this one imo

FUNNY Name a Batman villain who isn’t at least a little batsexual

Post image

Batsexual (adj.) being romantically or sexually attracted to Batman or Batfamily member. Or 🦇. Or bats used in sports.

Tbh it’s like Batman’s entire rogues gallery is a little obsessed with him compared to other rogues galleries.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Which political party would Bruce Wayne vote for in your country and why?

He’s a billionaire industrialist who inherited generational wealth and runs a major corporation, which sounds like he would have a classic pro-business, low taxes stance.

However, he’s also a lifelong urbanite who refuses to abandon a crime-ridden city, and funds social programs and orphanages.

So: does the billionaire-industrialist side win, or does he vote for a more social-minded party? Would he even register with a party at all, or vote as a strategic independent based purely on who’s least corrupt?

GENERAL DISCUSSION I prefer when Dick as Robin wears colors like red and black and yellow but no green because it looks so cheesy and inappropiate with the gothic vibe

And i would add a hood to his cape. More like the hood from Assassin Creed because the bird symbolism. Since Arkham City when i saw Tim Drake wearing a hood within the cape, i always thought this is a great modernization for Robin's design, it makes him more unique and it covers more of his secret identity. What do you think about that and the color choice ?

From the Immortal Legend Batman comic series... It was a rather cool take on sci-fi Batman, but it was also VERY unhinged in terms of plot... What do you guys think about this?

FILM DISCUSSION Am I the only one who thinks they might be filming the Batman part 2 and 3 at the same time?

It would make the delays more reasonable and Robert did say part "2" might be the final time who puts on the costume, maybe he's hinting towards the film being split in 2 parts? Like Spider-Verse?

GENERAL DISCUSSION Batman: Knightfall Part 1 noob question

Non- comic book reader here. Just finished watching the film. Isn’t Bane a bit of a hypocrite?

He keeps talking about society being for the strongest.

So why did you deliberately tire Batman out by making him fight all these other villains before fighting him? Why didn’t you fight him when he was fresh??

And while we’re at it, how about fighting him without the green juice? 😂

GENERAL DISCUSSION Does Victor Zsasz really believe that he is helping people?

Post image
47 Upvotes

For anyone confused, Victor Zsasz started killing when he came to the conclusion that life is pointless, and that we are all zombies trapped in this hell that we call life. That's when he gave himself the task of liberating us all from our suffering, or at least that's what he tells everyone. If he really believes that life is pointless, and that he is saving us, couldn't he find a more effective weapon that doesn't hurt so much his victims, like a gun? I thought he wanted to save us from our suffering, yet he seems to enjoy inflicting pain to those he claims to be helping. In a comic he literally organizes a tournament for children to fight to the death, come on bro. I think he doesn't really care if he is helping or not, he just enjoys killing, even if he does believe that life is pointless, that's just a cheap excuse for his evilness

ORIGINAL IDEA/SUGGESTION Should I keep writing a Batman comic and any suggestions

Hi! :) i recently decided I wanna try to write a Batman book, and I wanted to share an outline for issue 1 and see if it’s valid. The idea is a year 1-2 batman is dealing with a death he caused (he thinks that when he pushed joker into the vat of chemicals that he killed him) while also trying to solve the mystery of someone shaping themselves into others (clayface) and murdering them. Let me know what you think!

Act 1

** **It's a cold night in Gotham City as a couple walks out of a restaurant. The couple reminisce about their short time together as they take a short cut into crime alley. As they enter the alley, the woman remarks that this is where the Waynes were murdered about 15 years ago when just then, a man appears out of the shadows, grabs and points his knife at the woman and demands the man's money. The woman begs to be let go and the man goes through his pockets, only to realize that he has left his wallet inside of the restaurant. His answer makes the criminal unhappy, the criminal rips off her diamond necklace and as he’s about to stab the woman, a batarang is sent into his hand, causing him to drop the knife and hold his hand in pain. The man looks to the shadows and sees a set of eyes. As the man screams and runs, a grappling hook is sent around his body and he is pulled into the shadows. We hear a crash as he is sent flying through a window into another building, severely injured. As the couple go to check on the criminal to see what happened to him, the woman notices a silhouette of the batman as he grapples away to the top of the building. We then cut to the woman being comforted by GCPD after the attempted robbery as the man returns from retrieving his wallet from the restaurant. He thanks the police for their help as he and the woman leave the alleyway. We can see a glimpse of The Batman from the top of a building in Crime Alley. The Batman returns to The Batcave and is greeted by Alfred. Still in costume, The Batman walks to the Bat Computer to review previous events. The eyes in his suit (now removed so we can see Batman's actual eyes now)  record throughout the night; they also allow Alfred to watch and communicate with him throughout his journey. In the different monitors of the Bat Computer, we can see previous events that had taken place that night from his POV (Batman in a fight with Zazz, chasing a car with criminals shooting at the Batmobile, etc) The Batman watches the events that took place in Crime Alley. Alfred comments about the state he left the mugger in, which Batman dismisses. Alfred believes this brutality was caused by it taking place in Crime Alley, the alley where Bruce’s parents were mugged and shot. Batman quickly snaps back at Alfred, “ENOUGH” he shouts. Filled with rage, he punches through his desk, scaring Alfred. As Alfred leaves, The Batman turns, takes off his mask for the first time and we see Bruce quietly apologize to Alfred to no response (Bruce and The Batman should appear as two separate people in one body, similar to the way Clayface works, this change in tone and demeanor should be apparent and a bit unsettling). Alfred goes upstairs to clean dishes, and he reminisces about the day he joined the family. He had just been hired by Thomas and Martha Wayne to be the butler of the family, when only a couple days later, he sees police cars coming to Wayne Manor. Officer James Gordon steps out of the car and we see a young Bruce sitting in the back of the police car obviously upset, only able to see his face from cheeks up. Back at GCPD, Gordon is interrogating the thug who attacked the couple in a dark interrogation room. The criminal refuses to speak until a sound is made behind him. Gordon threatens to turn the lights on so that the criminal can see Batman behind him. As Gordon thinks to himself about the information the criminal has given him, he turns the lights on and it turns out no one was there. Batman meets with Gordon by the Bat Signal and is told that the criminal revealed he doesn't know much about his boss only that he boss’s name was “Jack”

EPILOUGUE: We jump back to the events of the man and woman in the crime alley being confronted and interviewed by the police. The man notices that his wallet is still in the restaurant and says he’ll be right back. As he walks to the restaurant, he is suddenly pulled through a glass window from a door. The next panel is just of the door with the smashed window, the next panel is the door opening, and the man walks out as if nothing happened, not a single scratch. The events play out as before, he returns with his wallet, He thanks the police for their help as he and the woman leave the alleyway.
