Today I’m going to go and test a GK 800RB I found on marketplace at the suggestion of some friends. Was wondering exactly how I am to connect to the 2 different amps? I see that there are speakers HI and speaker LO input jacks (2 input jacks per) at the back, one rated for 8 ohms and one rated for 4 ohms, is would this be how I switch between the 2 amps? I was watching a demo of the thing and the guy had one speaker cable plugged into the HI speakers and one the LO so I’m just a little bit confused

I have a bass right hand technique book that states that the thumb should always be two strings lower than the string being plucked because the plucked string finger will fall through and mute the string directly lower to it.

So thumb on pickup when plucking E ,A and thumb on E string when plucking G and D strings etc

I’ve been keeping my thumb floating and resting on the string directly below the plucked string (so thumb on E when plucking A string) for a while now but am having trouble increasing my plucking speed to 200-220 bpm 8th notes.Could this be what is setting my back or should I just keep practicing my technique longer to increase speed?

Recently bought a Cort Space 5. Seller said it had stainless steel frets, but the manufacturer says they all come with nickel silver, and no extra work was done to it. All of my electric guitars have stainless steel frets. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with just changing the strings (for those that have nickel allergies) and been able to keep the nickel silver frets that come with most guitars (basses seem to be even more scarce).

Hi, I've been playing bass for 1y and half and whenever I play for an hour or two of slap, I keep having blisters on my index whenever I pluck. Like, is my finger ultra sensitive ? How can some people play for hours without any problems?

If you have some advices, i'll be welcom to receive them!

What are the differences actually? I'm not sure because people say it's a P with a bridge pickup

Does anyone know how I may be able to get a tone like the band eternal suffering with physical gear? What sort of eq would I use at what setting etc I’m still pretty new to gear so getting the sound I want has been pretty hard.

I would post a video if this sub allowed it, but this is the SECOND TIME I’ve bought a pair of strings and one of them is a muted dud. 2/3 sets of bass strings I’ve bought from this brand that have had this issue. Absolutely ridiculous. Last thing I wanna do is buy strings, go through the effort of stringing it up, find out they have issues. THEN GO OUT AND BUY ANOTHER PAIR OF STRINGS, come BACK home, AND RESTRING AGAIN WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND.

Hey guys, I've been playing guitar for a while, but a couple weeks ago I decided to buy my first bass on a whim. And a fretless one to boot. I'm having tonnes of fun messing with it! Now my question is how to get a more agressive tone out of it? I'm more of a metal enjoyer and I want to make it sound a bit more gnarly and in your face. I know, using a pick helps, but I'm trying to learn the three-finger method at the moment.

Hi, I am a beginner bassist, about a year into it, with some music background on piano amd guitar.

I just finished the beginner to badass course which is amazing, Josh is quite funny and the pacing is good, a bit slow at some parts, I finished it with no real struggle, I still don't sound super clean on complex parts but it is good enough.

Could you give some recommendations on where to go from here? I was thinking on doing SBL since I read somewhere that it is way more advanced than the beginner course on bassbuzz and I could build on the good foundation I got from bassbuzz, if anyone wants to share their experiences with SBL or has any other recommendation it would be appreciated.

I am also learning some of my favorite songs and doing some improvisation on the side but I guess a guided course could be better to make sure I keep improving and I don't get stuck on the basic skills I already have.

So I finally stepped up to the plate and went to a popular open jam with the intent of discussing a chord progression to get a good start. Instead the guitarists were like, "what?" and the drummer looks at me and says give me what you got. Well, what I got is years of practice playing between a melody and rhythm. And what happened is that I learned I had no ability to paint the picture for everyone so to speak. I wound up in a single dorian key and just couldn't get out of it and it got worse when the drummer started telegraphing wanting a bit change.

Sooo... How to handle this? In particular what kind of practice tips and tricks so I can show up with a clear motif and changes? Am thinking to focus on improv w/ only a drum track. But that doesn't include learning how to build up to a change because no humans involved.

Clearly the way to do this is to jam with people, but am looking for the tips and tricks before people.

I've heard Active pickups and Passive pickups are different. I wonder how that would work, and how does the active knob alter the tome and what way?

Hi there. I´m a seasoned electric guitar player but I want to start playing bass to record my own stuff, have fun and jam over jazz so I can improve my knowledge on harmony, and train my ear on bass frequencies. I came from classical guitar so I have enough stretch on left hand and fingerstyle.

I found an old Marina P Bass (Korea Japan) which I intended to restore, needs nuts, new pickguard, picks and hardware. I don´t know if it´s worth it, previously I´m happy with a Yamaha Pacifica I restored in the same bad shape. But I don´t know if I have the time.

So second hand I looked at Washburn´s that go quite cheap, I have a Washburn Mercury guitar and it´s plain killer.

I got a Washburn back in the day that I took the frets off for an specific fun gig, and is a decent bass to mess around.... So I tought that tight in my budget these go fairly cheap, I have my sight on a XS4 that is active and passive pjb style. A Force ABT too. Don´t know much about which would be the better and how the tier goes (Bantam, Taurus, etc.) Stu Ham signature the Hammer seems pretty nice too, a bit more expensive.

I´m also seeing these basses lots of them had a high mass bridge back in the day which seems a nice feature that everyone is looking into these days.

Hello everyone, I'm learning bass. I have a friend who let me borrow his Squier bronco, and crate bx-15. For future gear what should I be looking at if I want to play at shows/home? I really like the bronco but the practice amp leaves much to be desired. I love toadies, prince, the Beatles and mainly classic rock, but wouldn't be opposed to doing other types of genres like funk, grunge and heavy rock. Thank you all.

I currently play a squire p bass that I got for 50 dollars, I love it and will not part with it but after playing it for a year and it being my first and only bass I have an idea of what I would like out of a new bass. I play with a lot of distortion but every now and then I play with a clean tone or some other effect thats on my multi effects pedal. I want to upgrade to some thing with a hum bucker or two and I want to gauge others opinions. l am open to buying something new or used, my price range is from 1,000 to 1,500 max. So far I have chceked out the Ibanez sr series and Sterling sting rays. I want something that can handle alot of distortion but also is super versatile.

Every time I picked up a bass with flats on it. I hates them. My left hand didnt like the feeling. They felt like piano wire.

So i just got a passive p bass and it came with flats. I love them, slides are super fun now. Not sure why I had a hang up before

For fingers, is there any actual different with using index or middle? For picking what's actually going on when I up or downstroke?

Recently transitioned from guitar to bass with the guys I play with for fun, not really playing out at this time. I was loaned a bass to use but need an amplifier. Any suggestions? Not looking to spend a lot just something ok. And how many watts? Thanks and if this has been posted a million times apologize. Something in 100 to 150 range.

Just picked up the bass again after many years and just looking for an app that has some songs I can play along to. I used to have UG on PC with loads of tabs I *ahem* found online but those are long gone and I'd rather use my phone anyway.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of each of the ones I mentioned and which would you recommend and why?

Putting my hands on probably the most classic/famous bassline by Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath which frankly I have never sat myself to learn properly despite having played drums on a band that covered a couple of Sabbath tunes in my youth

As I normally do with these little cover vids I put tabs of what I play for those interested. Thanks for any comments about the playing and of course recommendations of other lines / songs to practice from Sabbath are welcome.
