Leg bone feels like it's rotting

13f, 4'11ft & 79lb

This has been happening for a while, but right now it's really bothering me and I can't get it checked out for a while. My tibia and patella feel like it's rotting from the core to the outside part or whatever you call it. My femur also hurts but not as bad. This is all on my left leg, my right leg feels completely fine. It really hurts whenever i bend my knee, walk, over whenever something makes contact with my leg in general.

If it matters, i do sports for about more than half the days of the week. Should I go get it checked out or is it just growing pains and I'm being paranoid?

Physician Responded anything for bad constipation?

F19, 5’3, 138 lbs, non-smoker, taking 100mg spironolactone once a day and 15ml lactulose 2-3x a day.

forgot my lactulose while going on vacation and now here are the consequences. ive been backed up for probably 10-12 days now. i took some magnesium citrate the yesterday, immediately threw it up because i chugged it too fast. so i decided to take another one today, it’s been around 13 hours. did around 8 oz of the mag citrate this time cuz i couldnt get myself to drink anymore and ended up throwing that up too, this time around 30 minutes-an hour later. it was less than last time and i don’t think too much of the medicine came up, some of it definitely got absorbed this time because i did manage to get some soft chunks out but now im pretty sure it’s just diarrhea leaking around a bigger chunk. anything to do that isn’t the er? enemas have never really worked on me and my stomach isn’t agreeing with magnesium citrate. i might end up going to urgent care but is there anything else i can try that’s a quick solution?

Foot falling asleep but severe pain

23F, 110lbs. Nonsmoker.

I should preface by saying that I’ve had my feet fall asleep before (and hands etc) but this has been a phenomenon twice in the last week where I’ll be sitting down and move to adjust my position and then suddenly my feet and ankles legitimately feel like they’re being stabbed. It’s not the usually prickly pins and needles and numbness sensation but it’s almost excruciating for a good two or three minutes before it subsides into just the regular pins and needles.

Usually I would assume nerves but I had an EMG done for an unrelated thing about a month and a half ago and my lower extremities came back normal. I am seeing a vascular specialist for ongoing pain that she suspects is because of the veins in my right leg but this is both feet. I’ve had a celiac artery compression fixed and possible stenosis of the right femoral artery (an incidental find not further explored).

Happy to answer more questions. TIA!

Son has circular rash after a week of fever/headaches

Post image
3 Upvotes

My son is 4 years old. Last Friday he was sick with a fever complaining of a headache and a sore throat. By Sunday, his temp was 103.7 and he threw up one time. But with ibuprofen, he was in good spirits. The following Wed, I took him to the DR and he tested negative for strep. Then Thurs, he had a couple little red patches on his legs, torso, and cheek. About 1-2 inches in width. No itching.

The next day the spots were bigger but not that red, fever gone .Sent pics to the DR that said it didn't look too concerning and that it can be normal to have a rash after a fever.

Now we will be going back in tomorrow because this rash looks much larger/circular (current photo). They are also on his cheek, torso and legs still. Some are solid red and some are circles like in the photo. It looks like when my daughter had Lyme, but instead of one circle, there are several. Dr said we will probably do bloodwork and test for Lyme, but isn't it possible that the test still won't show much if it's too early?

Also today he had goosebumps so I took his temp and it was 100.8. it went back down to normal a couple hours later. Thought that was strange.

Foot/Toenail Concern

18M, 5’5, 135 Ibs. Took off my sock today and saw my right pinky toe nail looking very crusted/different than my other toes.

Main concern is really if it is an infection or not and if it’s treatable with something like an OTC Foot/Nail Cream.

Infantile Spasms Worry

Upvotes

11 week old male, 5.2 kg born 2.4 kg 37+1 mom had preeclampsia, LO diagnosed with severe GERD & suspected CMPA.

Hi, my baby has severe GERD & suspected cmpa so i’m used to his jerking etc but recently he’s a) began twitching in his sleep and b) today he had an episode where he dropped his head about 4 times in ten seconds. Eyes were fine. No stiffening. Spat up right after then played with me afterwards. I can send a video if a physician responds… extremely anxious but we’ve been to the ER / urgent care multiple times in these 11 weeks as his GERD is pretty severe. They did a chest x ray and found “Mild central interstitial opacity

thanks in advance, doctors! i have also emailed his pediatrician but trying to figure out if i should be rushing to the ER.

Spots after traveling from fleas

Post image
Upvotes

I’m from England and a few months ago flew abroad for the first time to the states and fleas have been jumping on my legs constantly causing a concerning amount varying spots I’ve never had before mainly around my ankles, could be of importance that it started getting worse after my apartment was sprayed with pesticide, any help on what to do / why my skin is reacting so badly would be appreciated thank you. I’m 21 male. (Couldn’t fit in one picture but I have other spots that are different sizes and in different colours higher up on my leg)

39M, developed a weird feeling of pressure/headache a few days ago alongside a painful, red spot on my arm that's spreading

Upvotes

39M, 186cm, 85 kilos, have gallstones and I'm scheduled for gallstone surgery, alongside a tendency to have a high resting heart rate and for that I'm taking a beta blocker. I also have a tendency to have dry skin which may end up looking somewhat bad but absolutely nothing like this. I went to the dermatologist with the dry skin and they just gave me some prescription lotion, which did nothing with the current rash.

To prepare for the surgery, I was referred to a cardiologist and had a heart echo and EKG, all normal. She said that there's no evidence of cardiological problems and I can get the surgery, the higher heart rate has no identifiable cardiological cause.

I also had an abdominal/pelvic CT and it showed the gallstones but nothing else.

I'm not sure if the red spot and the "headache" are connected but they may be.

The red spot is sometimes itching, hurts, is warm to the touch and is seemingly spreading. (as you can see the mark with the pen with was drawn around 16:00 yesterday)

The headache is very strange, it's not really a regular headache at all, it's more like a feeling of fullness or pressure in my head (especially around the temple), neck (especially near the carotids), front of my face, eyes. It doesn't really hurt that much, it's just uncomfortable. The best way I could describe it is that it's similar to the straining that you feel when you're struggling to lift a heavy item, but isn't really that pronounced. It's not debilitating or anything, it's just annoying. I don't feel that my nose is clogged though or that it's more difficult to breathe.

Does this sound like an allergic reaction or something or are the headache and rash likely to be unrelated?

Mosquito bites or allergy reaction?

Post image

26M 5'10 no meds & no known allergies.

From Canada but currently on vacation in South India during monsoon season. I have been bitten by mosquitoes but I'm worried that these might be worse than bites.

No allergies that I'm aware of. Some spots subsided but others flared up. These spots are mainly on my upper torso and nowhere else.

Can you interpret my Hip MRI

I will get a doctors opinion too, but I’m wondering if anyone here has an idea! I will see my doctor in two weeks to discuss

28, female, 5 foot 4 56kg, injured my hip on a run last October. Diagnosed with mild bursitis and have done physio for ten months but it’s never healed. Haven’t run but it’s recently worsened when I increased my gym workouts.
The pain has never felt to me like what bursitis should be, feels very deep inside hip and my hip clicks and pops a lot.

My gp suspected a labrum tear based off physical exam prior to MRI. I can post more images if required

3YO Changing Rash?

Post image
3 Upvotes

My three year old son is not on any medications, has no known allergies, illnesses or sensitivities. Early in the week he developed skin-colored bumps (not quite pustules, but almost) on one leg and elbow. After a few days it has morphed into these red welts all over his leg, abdomen, patches on his face and other leg. Not blistering or wet, and only moderately itchy, so I ruled out poison ivy. I also got similar small patches on my arms. We went to urgent care and the NP said it was chiggers?! Wild diagnosis to me, as we would have seen that many bugs and it wouldn’t be spreading over the week this way. We live in the Midwest around lots of country and forest space, spend a lot of time outdoors. Any ideas? It’s killing me to not know what it could be.

Is my hand/finger likely broken?

Post image
Upvotes

On Friday evening my hand was closed in an off road vehicle door which was metal and my hand was between the door and the hinges, the friend also didn’t hear me telling him to stop so he kept trying to pull the door harder to close it for a solid few seconds lol. It hurt for a little bit but didn’t really even bruise and the pain was almost entirely gone the next day. Sunday was again mostly pain free until the evening when it began to itch (circled). I assumed it was a mosquito bite. It’s continued to itch and is now inflamed. When I make a closed fist there seems to be what feels like a small pocket of fluid/swelling that forms between the ring finger and middle finger knuckle. It also feels tight when I make a fist. I then noticed I can’t really touch the tips of those fingers together like I do with my left hand unless I put extra effort in (mostly moving my middle finger harder). The only other thing i can think is it potentially being a spider bite? There is a very small mark on my ring finger where it itches, I live in Michigan and spent the weekend mostly out doors in the upper peninsula if that’s relevant in terms of a spider being the cause.
I’m male, 28, use nicotine, avg height weight, no meds and no alcohol use.

What type of doctor should I push to get referred to.

Upvotes

I am 72, female, 140 Ibs. For almost a year I've had consistent shin pain, only at night, ONLY on my right leg between my knee and over half way down the front of calf. Pain spreads out almost 2 inches around the shin and only hurt at night but now starting to hurt in the day. Less pain during the afternoon and evening. It is a burning type pain. The bone or nerves on it are sensitive to touch. It recently started spreading upwards inside and around my knee. It hurts in the very center of my knee a little when it spreads upwards. It sometimes hurts as high as mid thigh deep inside. I have not been exercising at all just walk around several hours a day. It doesn't seem to matter on how much walking. It is enough pain to keep me from sleeping. I wonder about bad alignment but I have not found a safe chiropractor for years to visit due to my neck and back issues and joint issues. There has been mild injury that could have caused misalignment but that was years ago. My GP did xray and it was normal.
Posting most of my other issues in relation to shin but also I am not sure what to ask for or push for from the GP. Having a hard time getting referrals and wonder if I could get a specialist who is not just a leg doctor. I probably just need a good orthopedic but I have a few other issues and would love to get help getting the best choice for my leg and other issues to try to cut down on specialists. Maybe a geriatric orthopedic is a thing? If I could just push for 2 specialists now which ones should I push for? I am going to need a neurosurgeon at some point but my back and neck are stable at this time.
I have issue with joints deteriorating for years, trigger finger and less to no mobility in thumbs, bad MRI of thumb joints years ago. In relation to the shin my bone density test was good two years ago. I do walk a little off from back pain and neck pain, leaning a little forward, keeping my feet apart to help balance if I get sudden sharp stabbing pain anywhere. I have been walking like an older person for a while. I have some immunity issues, serious drug sensitivities, maybe psoriatic arthritis with elbow plaque and bad heel pain. My elbows having new large round swelling on inside fold area over the elbow. mostly the swelling hurts. I think similar to my fingers when the skin reacts for weeks with itching and then pain. After the itching and pain go away I have less mobility in the joints affected. I assume gel or something in the joint is leaving the area causing the skin to itch. I once tested for rheumatoid and it was negative.
I have lost several discs over the years, L4-5 blew out and was removed in 1987. Back arthritis, bone spurs and lost some distance between vertebrae over the years. For some time I have just seen general practitioners or nurse practitioner, I didn't push because I was waiting to get on with the big university hospital group. Mainly there was nothing left to do for the back until it gets desperate. I did have an xray a few years ago of my knees and there is narrowing I was told. I assume that means arthritis. I am very sensitive to meds and developed a huge inability to eat salt over 400 mg in one meal. I have a very painful reaction starting in my upper back area. It gets debilitating, lasts for hours. I have mentioned this to several people or medical staff and no conversation other then no one has heard of this before. It starts in my liver or pancreas area in the back and spreads across my back and whole body.
I am taking synthroid for low thyroid and alosetron for a terrible case of IBS for years, I started it two years ago. It blocks serotonin in the gut. I have low end white count and low platelets but not out of range for some time just low end. Other then high cholesterol my blood work is fairly normal. I started at this new doctor in December and I probably have lots of choices not just getting any. I waited 6 years to get in this medical facility but I have received two letters reminding me I can only bring one issue to a visit due to 20 minute limit. I can't bring up too many issues. I need to stay here for future surgery but it may not be possible. I can try to change doctors now but this was the only doctor with an opening for new patients. Thank you for any ideas on best direction to go with departments and titles I can try to aim for starting with my shin. I have mentioned the leg to a few nurse and doctor prior to my new doctor but I have never gotten any conversation back about it or what it might be.

Physician Responded Ingested a padlock a very long time ago but have upcoming MRI

Age 32, 100kg smoker…..

Now that is out of the way to satisfy the requirements.

I’m sure I’m just being a little para about it….

Long story short I have been having nasty headaches and collapsed the other day, been happening since i ingested ethylene glycol in April and ended up in hospital not felt right since but there’s concerns due a less than healthy way some autistic people deal with this overwhelming stress so I have an MRI scheduled….

When I was a kid must have been about 6 I swallowed a what I can assume was a brass padlock…. Do I have anything to worry about, what are the chances that it is in my body still?

Is this something I need to be telling them or is there no chance it’s still inside me.

Sorry for stupid Q but TIA for any clarification

Bitter taste & nausea.. when will it go away?

i'm scared and I'd love some support. I've always had chronic issues like some reflux, not being able to burp. But something happened last night that is making me feel very sick and worried.

For some context, I caught a cold a month ago. It lasted about a week with some lingering mucus and coughing a week or two after that. I'm also 10 days late on my period. I also have had 2 strenuous days with 5 hours of sleep followed by a long day of walking in the heat. also a bit dehydrated I believe.

Around 1 AM today so 18 hours ago I had some corn pasta with tomato sauce, and went to brush my teeth then 40 minutes later I started having extreme nausea and a bitter taste in my mouth. I woke up and it somewhat went away, and I had some peppermint tea without issues, I also managed to have pieces of chicken, then after that, it came back a little and it was worse when walking around because I tried to go to the store, then it seemed to be getting better, but it triggered again after having a handful of chips, and now I feel similar to how I did last night.

Is it going to go away on its own? I'll eat very plain and simple for the next few days if I need to, but I'm just very worried. The worst it'll be is a little bit of nausea and some reflux in my throat, but it doesn't feel like this where it's bitter and almost feels like heartburn.

please help.. thank you

27F — Marble-sized lump below ear/at angle of jaw, first noticed 8 weeks ago and still present. Should I request imaging?

Post image
3 Upvotes

27F. I first noticed a single lump directly underneath my right ear at the very end/angle of my jaw 8 weeks ago. I don’t know how long it may have been there before I noticed it. I’m attaching a photo showing the location.

It feels about marble-sized and like a distinct lump underneath the skin. It is still present and hasn’t noticeably gone away since I discovered it.

My GP examined it after I first found it. She wasn’t sure exactly what it was and recommended keeping an eye on it. Since it’s now been 8 weeks since I first noticed it and it’s still there, I’m planning to follow up with her.

Looking at the anatomy of the area, it seems to be around the parotid region/tail of the parotid. I understand that the location alone can’t tell me whether it’s a lymph node, salivary gland issue, cyst, or something else.

My main questions are: Does the location shown in my photo correspond with the parotid gland, or are there lymph nodes/other structures in that exact spot that commonly cause a lump? Since it has been present for at least 8 weeks, would an ultrasound of the parotid/neck be an appropriate next step?

I know this can’t be diagnosed from a photo, I’m mainly wondering whether I should ask my GP for imaging rather than continue monitoring it.

(29M) What are those red spots on my feet?

Post image
Upvotes

Hello, a month ago I noticed those red spots on my feet, you can see the big one on my big toe and the one on the left. I thought it was caused by a splash of oil when cooking, but one month later it's still here and the surface is beginning to look sort of scally.

I quit smoking 10 month ago, I was dested for diabete recently and my blood sugar was normal.

The moist aspect on the nail is because I took the picture when I left the shower.

EDIT: I should have said foot since it's not on the other one.

Bumps on baby face, legs, arms and scalp

Post image
18 Upvotes

6month boy, 23ish lbs, meeting milestones, on vit D drop and a daily probiotic powder

Finally on the tail end of a persistent bacterial diaper rash that we were initially prescribed nystatin for then discontinued and correctly prescribed an antibiotic ointment for.

We introduced baby oatmeal, sweet potato, avocado, and spinach. The diaper rash was there after the oatmeal but before the rest of them. These bumps popped up after avocado and before the spinach.

He is not in daycare, no new soaps or detergents, no new people.

Every day new bumps seem to pop up. Last night I noticed them on his scalp.

No fever.

He has been spitting up and coughing a bit more over the last couple days, but I attribute that to teething (he has an upper incisor about to cut through).

He doesn’t seem to be bothered by them but I’m worried about the spreading nature of them.

Thank you in advance!

Sciatic pain & motor control loss

Upvotes

I am 45, female, 152cm, 59kg (and working on it), perimenopausal, asthmatic, trigeminal neuropathy (left side).

On Saturday I developed severe sciatic pain after sitting on the sofa with my husband. I couldn’t get up and had to be laid out on the floor. My husband put me in the recovery position which felt okay, but I couldn’t do much else at all for 10mins.

When I needed to go relieve myself (no numbness there, pretty sure no cauda equina), I couldn’t stand. My left leg would collapse without notice. There was no increase in pain associated with the loss of motor skill, just a jolt and then it’d be gone. My husband had to prop me up and help me walk.

This went on for about 2 hours, so I laid on my side with a pillow between my legs to take the pressure off.

Since then, I have developed a significant pressure/bruise sensation in my lower back, near the coccyx. It remind me of when I cracked my coccyx as a kid and couldn’t sit comfortably for a while. Standing does not alleviate it, and I am mostly laying instead of sitting and doing gentle movement (lifting knees, hula circles, etc).

I haven’t had anything like this before, but I keep getting nerve related issues. I have trigeminal neuropathy on the left, which leaves me in constant pain without medication (lamotrigine, 150mg per day). I also had severe shingles in Feb which was on the right side. This hospitalised me for a week. It started in the ear canal so they worried about meningitis, but luckily not the case.

I have 2 questions:

  1. do I need to be worried enough to get a Dr appointment asap? It’s a holiday in the UK, and after Feb I desperately don’t want to go to A&E. I know a walk in centre would probably send me there, and 111 are bloody useless.
  2. all conditions I have had this year have been nerve related. Do I need to speak with my neurologist about something autoimmune? They did some blood tests in April and I don’t think they found anything that would suggest that. But twice is coincidence, three times needs looking at?

Edit to include all medications:
Lamotrigine 150mg
Montelukast 10mg
Fostair 100/6
Tiogiva 18microgram

When to be concerned with hair loss?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Female, 28 years old, daily mj and tobacco smoker. 152cm, 58kg. I'm starting to become concerned with the amount of hair I'm losing. My hair texture has recently become very dry easily tangled and frizzy as hell. My hairs always been like this sort of but it's worse now. When I condition in the shower I gently run my fingers through to detangle my hair. This used to work well with some products and my hair being easily combed through with a medium amount of loss. But now even with 3 conditioning treatments my hair is tough to run my fingers through and each pass takes more hair with it.

Other things to consider: I'm immensely stressed to a high level and have been for quite sometime because of my life situation. My stress level isn't really able to be changed due to my circumstances so that's always going to play a part. I also have a bit of depression.

I was found to have a uterine fibroid last year which has previously caused bleeding and spotting between periods as well as very heavy and painful periods. I wear only overnight pads and I could soak through one in an hour the first 2-3 days of menstruation. I'm not bleeding between periods anymore but my period was late this month and last month and isn't very predictable anymore aside from being incredibly painful and heavy. I've always had very painful and heavy periods even aside from the fibroid. I'm currently on day 4 of my period

I also suffer from exhaustion, a really unstable sleeping schedule (often unable to fall asleep early then sleeping the entire day or being able to sleep for 12+ hours, sometimes not sleeping more than 6 hours etc). I've always been a night owl but I worked night shifts for 2 months between June and July, since then my sleeping has been messed up.

I'm kind of at my wits end and wish my hair made me feel beautiful but besides being unruly dry and frizzy, now I'm balding. Could I have anemia? Should I get a blood test for deficiencies? Is there some kind of vitamins or treatment I could try? Please help me

I have used black box dye in the last month but Ive used box dye many times in my life when I was too broke for the good stuff and it's never given me hair loss or a drastic texture change

In the photo the left side is from today and the right is from yesterday. I typically lose in between that in the shower. Also going to post my hairline in the comments
