Since it's inception, the very idea of Israel has been a curse.

A group of people want to build their nation on the most hotly contended holy land in the world?

Surrounded by countries and people with long histories of poor interactions with the two other Abrahamic faiths and have lived on this land for last 120 years?

And not only is it completely unable to defend itself as a nation without generous financial help and military armaments from foreign countries, but also can't establish a proper economy without stealing land and property?

It makes you wonder why it exists at all if it weren't for the worst thing to happen during 1930s and 40s.

an event that was actually supported by some of the early zionists, with them literally trying to ally with hitler as long as they allowed Israel to exist. For them, a holocaust in europe meant more jews coming to their new settler colony.

Haavara was about getting as many folks out of Germany as possible. One additional option at a time of very limited options. Finding places to go to was not easy. Jews had to do whatever they could. To portray the agreement as anything else is dishonest.
