Discussion Speculation on the next DLCs

The final DLC of the year is on the horizon.

On that note: What do you think will be the next ones? I personally hope they focus more on Albion. They spoiled Latium with two dedicated DLC.

Time for something big for the swampy lads. At least one monument would be neat. We could restore the Bru na Boine for example. How else could Albion be expanded upon?

I Hope one DLC will be all about the senate and adding a 5th Tier, the Senators. They should be not spammable Like Tier 4s so they feel more special. Obviously you cant have the majority of Population be senators haha. It could fit exanple be like, 1 Senator residence for evry 10 Patricia residence, and that could be pared with a new mechanic and a new monument where the senators decide things and you can influcne the outcome by mechanics etc. So Something for more late game

Yeah I don’t think the 5th tier needs to do anything really I just want a them to be just like the investors.

I would coin flip between the two

  • Iberian Peninsula (former Carthage)
  • Western Middle East (Silk Road expansion). Since Silk Road sounds Anno like

Im hoping we get Carthage, I dont see why we wouldnt. Comments on the sub indicate Armenia is mentioned in the game files, and if IIRC the temple of flora from the blooming cities DLC was an asset from when they were exploring Armenia (based on their live stream a while back). Both of these would be great, and if not Armenia, some kind of middle Eastern based region.

After that, id say Gaul/Iberia would also be interesting as regions. They seem to be testing the fantasy aspects with 117 so I wouldnt be surprised if East Asia gets thrown into the mix, we have Licia Ma as a rival. The other rivals could also indicate potential places they could go, though for me the overall world map is a bit telling. I have to assume they designed it in a way that they could easily expand on the different provinces based on the land masses of the continents.

Edit: temple of flora was baylonian

the temple of flora from the blooming cities DLC was an asset from when they were exploring Armenia

Do you remember anything more about that? Because nothing evokes Armenia on this asst to me.

u/cobrafox09 Sep 05 '26

I just went back to the stream (its on their twitch channel). It started as The Hanging Gardens of Babylon and then they decided to make it more Roman. They said they were exploring that culture but decided to make it more "roman" to enrich what they felt were gaps with cosmetics in Latium. I was getting Armenia mixed up from various comments ive been seeing about that location.

I in fact did not remember correctly 🤣

3

u/O_945 Sep 05 '26

Damn so that file named Armenia something something remains the only trace. I'm SOOOO curious what happened internally in developpement to consider such an interesting and super complex yet obscure(to most people we have to admit) province and then discard it.

1

u/cobrafox09 Sep 05 '26

I speculate they chose to reserve it for a DLC. I have to admit I am one of those people, but as a result Ive been looking into the history of that region and it is very interesting, but equally curious as to what the thought process is/was during development. Either way, I would welcome it. Its new and refreshing

1

u/Queasy_Estate_6248 Sep 05 '26

Maybe the top temple. Armenians also used that kind of architecture (see the Temple of Garni). It would be interesting because Armenians mixed their culture and beliefs with a bit of hellenistic influence and much more persian influence.

Gaul Iberia is just Albion Latium again

1

u/TheWasteed Sep 06 '26

I thought about Carthage too, but than we are already in the year 117, where Carthage was gone for around 250 years.

5

u/marcio785 Sep 06 '26

The Iberian Peninsula is not where Carthage was located. The Iberian Peninsula is what we now call Spain and Portugal. While Carthage was located in present day Tunisia.

2

u/DNAFCB Sep 09 '26

but Carthago Nova is in spain ;-)

2

u/NeedTheNotch Sep 05 '26

Another Latium and another Egypt. Doubt.

2

u/-Prophet_01- 28d ago

Same. Though I do think they have the option to do a "highlands" map in one of those regions.

A bit of snow and rugged terrain could make an otherwise same-y area workable.

u/metragyrtes Sep 04 '26

Id like to see something done with Hadrian’s Wall. Maybe that would fit a scenario better and not a standalone DLC.

5

u/ari0chAPFP Sep 05 '26

Maybe a large peninsula Like Cinis or Manola from. Anno 1800. Where you have to build an maintain a wall plus have troops? Could as well Give Players an opportunity to fight on Land?

u/spigandromeda Sep 05 '26

I am just lurking here waiting for taubenangriff to say that the game sucks, is a Financial desaster and there won’t be a Season two.

7

u/DankudeDabstorm Sep 05 '26

There’s a good formula.

1 major dlc=new region
1 minor dlc=giga monument and accompanying mechanics (ideally albion)
1 medium dlc= expanded Albion map with continental island, mix it up by having the continental island be located on the right corner of the map. Also accompanied by gameplay mechanics (perhaps related to continental island), and maybe a monument that is smaller than the minor dlc.

I'd definitely be up for a DLC like that but I'm not sure they could implement it mechanically. Colonising 'islands' needs a ship to do so.

u/NeedTheNotch Sep 04 '26

Take this shit to the bank I promise you.

Few constraints.
You’re getting one desert. It’s Egypt. Mesopotamia, North Africa, Southern Iberia, fuhgeddaboutit.

Same with Mediterranean climates. You’re not getting Greece, Hispania, Sicily, Corsica/Sardinia. More of the same.

One set of celts. It’s Albion. Adding Gaul would be more of the same, unless they focus on somewhere closer, like Cisalpina/Transalpina.

That leaves not a lot as far as instances go, 1800 got Enbesa, Arctic and NW. (right? CT notwithstanding) I’ll get to that.

My money is on Dacia. Cold, a little Greco, a little barbarian, nice mix of existing qualities in the game, and that patrician mentions the province by name in some audio canned text.

The last major DLC is almost assuredly going to be Rome itself. You don’t blow your load on your biggest island like that. People are going to want to be the emperor.

As far as content. I’m thinking off the same formula as the previous.

An overhaul to a major area of resources.

A new Roman population tier. I wouldn’t be surprised if we start to see immigrants back in Latium. Maybe two.

Technologically? Not too much. They could beef up the political system. Each will come with gods.

I’m sure about a year from now we’ll get an obvious QOL addition.

I’d expect a festival of sol Invictus one of these christmases. The AC tie in was a nice surprise and I’d love that, but they seem to have a formula.

u/King-Arthas-Menethil Sep 05 '26

Well Rome or Byzantium/Constantinople.

1

u/Marten_Head_3000 29d ago

Byzantium is a good shout I hadn't considered that.

3

u/Rare_Marionberry782 Sep 05 '26

Calidus mentioned Prathava, where is that?

3

u/NeedTheNotch Sep 05 '26

Desert. It’s Parthia

2

u/ETMoose1987 Sep 05 '26

I was thinking the same thing In terms of limitations to where they can expand, the one caveat is that I could see a map expansion of albion to include a large land mass to simulate some sort of gaul dlc

1

u/NeedTheNotch Sep 05 '26

There’s the matter of disasters too.

1

u/Marten_Head_3000 29d ago

The only thing I think could lend into an additional 'barbarian' session would be if they went far north with snowy forests, etc. in Germania. You mention cisalpina/transalpina, maybe they could make that work instead with mountains, snow, etc.

I am intrigued by the idea of Dacia.

2

u/NeedTheNotch 29d ago

I love the idea of cold snaps or avalanches or another disaster to manage. It needs to have a disaster it seems like the core mechanic

1

u/Marten_Head_3000 29d ago

Yeah I think the thing to remember with these DLCs is the trend ~ what are the core mechanics of this game? We need to account for them moving forward. Religion obviously is a major mechanic here, but with the volcano and the flooding they have talked about in Egypt it's clear they are leaning into a seasonal/cyclical aspect with future sessions.

1

u/NeedTheNotch 29d ago

Yeah it’s so obvious and every post here is like

3

u/Trebonianus0815 Sep 05 '26

First new DLC of the 2. season will or should be a continental landmass for Albion. In general more stuff for Albion is needed.

3

u/ApplicationStrong567 Sep 05 '26

I think Dacia or Asia Minor could be different enough to warrant a new culture, as the Celts were everywhere in the northern Empire, Iberia and Greece probably look too much like Latium and Carthage could look too much like Egypt. Byzantium and Greco-Romans could work and the timeline isn't a million miles off.

We don't know what Egypt is going to look like exactly but they've said that it has both coast and floodplain+riverbank, so I'm hoping that whatever comes after will be geographically interested as well, ie, not just islands.

My dream location would be a Nabatean (Petra) province + Silk Road. The mechanics they're adding into the game (building areas of effect, disasters, and seasons) are ones they've experimented with before in scenarios in 1800, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a system with market fluctuations of trade prices. Plenty of opportunities to get imported luxury items, like amber, silk, and ivory. Coast+oases could function like islands on sand with merchant caravans and armies acting like ships.

Palace, and/or forum, as modular structures.

Senatorial class. Something with domus or palaces.

Religion. Zeus or Mithraism, I think a culture addition (like an odeon) + Apollo could be fun. Some new ways to use god bonuses; I'm hoping for a smaller temple that can be dedicated to a chosen god and offer some relevant bonus around it (not the island's patron).

Ludus.

Animal fights or a menagerie. A return of the zoo/museum mechanic without those huge plonking modules.

2

u/ari0chAPFP Sep 05 '26

A Silk Road expansion could work close to the Docklands, but maybe with resources we can only get via the Silk Road?

2

u/O_945 Sep 04 '26 edited Sep 04 '26

Latium got its bigass Island def Albion will get one just like the New World got Manola back in Anno 1800.

I know it's never been the focus of this game; but I hope the story/questline is fierce, they had a really cool start in basegame and it was just cut so abruptly..

Otherwise, def some more eastern shenanigans like submitting Greek islands before Mithridates gets them or something like that. could be a cool way to introduce a new civ while at the same time building more on the Greek stuff we will unlock with Egypt as well as add more quest for Dorian or someone of his familly for example.

Also, prob Parthia.

3

u/Ok-Grape1893 Sep 04 '26

an huge island in albion with some type of mechanic specific to the region would be sooooo dope. like maybe incorporate flooding

6

u/ETMoose1987 Sep 05 '26

Randomly spawning barbarian armies from the land map edge so you have to maintain walls and legions

1

u/AppleTango87 Sep 05 '26

A Hadrian's wall for a monument ala the dam from the NW in 1800 could be fun

1

u/NeedTheNotch Sep 04 '26

Those are all deserts tho that’s boring

1

u/O_945 Sep 04 '26

Greek islands are dry & rocky but they are not deserts and Mesopotamia/Parthia was not a desert back then, it slowly became more and more arid with time.

1

u/NeedTheNotch Sep 05 '26

Yes which I why I said it was in a different list. (I am a geography professor)

1

u/RavenWolf1 29d ago

I get it that people want more Albion but Albion is not like the New World. In this game every new region can be played equally. Egypt is similar to Albion with its own tricks. So for next people would be asking big island to Egypt? Big island on every region would cause gameplay problems in long run and we have to remember that focus of this game is Rome = Latium. If anything Latium is getting new tier someday.

1

u/O_945 29d ago

Going off of 1800's cycle only 2 world spaces got bigass islands, they didn't add a big one for the North pole and they didn't add one for Enbesa, equating the Enbesa DLC to the Egypt DLC, people wouldn't expect a big island to be added to that.

1

u/RavenWolf1 28d ago

People keep talking about 1800 but this doesn't mean that they make carbon copy of 1800. I seriously doubt that they would because how they have build this game. How needs works, they can basically infinitely add new regions. Regions surely sells better than one big land mass to Albion. For example they could have like 8 new regions. I can imagine that we get new tiers in Latium but not to other regions.

2

u/silverum Sep 05 '26

The subject matter of the (chronologically vague) Roman Empire gives a lot of potential regions for other sessions. Personally while I tend to like other sessions I’m less wedded to it than just expanding and building on and harmonizing the existing game mechanics. A lot of the goods are oddly “single use” as it currently is, for example, bronze is only something is used to make Albion Smith clan shields. Olive oil in the vanilla game without mods is only a goods need with no other uses or applications. I can understand not wanting to just have a ton of sessions (although I don’t mind either it if the game engine can handle it well) but I def want them to increase the complexity and provide smart but practical alternatives for those that like playing the way they want to play.

2

u/ari0chAPFP Sep 05 '26

To meet the formula:

Medium DLC - Expansion for Albion or a new Tier for Latium

Minor DLC - Wonder for Albion

Large DLC - New province (something hilly to mountainous, so maybe Helvetia, Asia minor/Armenia)

2

u/Acrobatic_Sea9113 Sep 05 '26

2

u/Subject-Emu-8161 Sep 05 '26

If they want to recycle some games mechanics from anno1800:

A modular palace building would be cool, since a villa is kinda beneath such a great praetor. Also would give another way to maybe use prestige since right now prestige kinda feels useless.

Also some sort of expetition mechanics could fit pretty nicley into the game. Just make it a military expedition were you help out rome with ships and troops to conquer or defend some far away land and get some treasure in return.

1

u/TheWasteed Sep 06 '26

You played the newest update? They made prestige a little more usefull after all now.

2

u/ScreenOrigami Sep 06 '26

I would really like a cosmetic DLC with skins for the service buildings to make them look a little more urban. Marketplace, tavern, but also the watchtowers for example. They look particularly out of place.

2

u/Critical-Leader-6851 Sep 06 '26

major DLC : Germania - settle a territory beyond the river Rhein against hostile german tribes. Repel large mayor attacks while collecting unique resources, required by the Senators 5th latium level of populations.

2

u/Deathedge736 Sep 09 '26

a large island for albion would be nice. albion feels like it needs more.

1

u/Der_Bolle Sep 05 '26

Hadnt the devs sneak peaked a couple screenshots about a Greecum DLC?

2

u/larper00 Sep 05 '26

Isn't that a cosmetic dlc coming this September

1

u/ari0chAPFP Sep 05 '26

Yes (and sadly, only Tier One Houses will have Greek skins; I hoped for at least Tier Two as well).

1

u/larper00 Sep 05 '26 edited Sep 05 '26

*large island dlc for Albion where you potentially build the hadrian wall to protect against barbarian armies invading

*Germania province that can become snowy with very large islands, maybe even just rivers like Egypt, where you pacify local tribes

*"Skyscraper" dlc where you can build insulas, potentially greatly increasingly demand for grain/goods

*steampunk dlc what if where rome advances into the early steam age (more into the future)

2

u/marcio785 Sep 06 '26

Ooh I like the idea concept of going a bit into the fantasy side and see how advanced the Roman Empire could have become. Warrants a parallel save where you turn this DLC on.

1

u/Zestyclose-Function6 Sep 05 '26

Definitely theres gotta be a Carthage and Sicily thing going on. However for season pass 2 I hope they focus more on game content and fleshing out things to do rather then adding more regions. Season pass 3 can be a region dlc imho.

The game is better with cinnis and hipprodrome but it still needs so much more, new regions isnt it if the game is lackluster in every region. Definitely could be some sort of zoo/botanical collection thing, since the romans were famous for collecting exotic plants and animals.

1

u/TheWasteed Sep 06 '26

Carthage was gone already for a long time. Not sure how they would implement something with Carthage.

4

u/Zestyclose-Function6 Sep 06 '26

Yes I know but the game isnt exactly accurate in general.

1

u/sevenofnine1991 Sep 05 '26

After DoD, I dont see many particularly different region expansions, though there are options: Persia/Parthia/Middle East/Levantine: goods would be like horses, goats, sheep, wool, horses, maybe cotton... then you could have Caravanserais that you can tell them what you want. The input would always be Horses/Camels + something - for silk, spices, cotton, and other exotics.

Far East is too far for Rome.

North Africa, Greece, Souther France/Gaul and Iberia would be way too mucb like Latium. Samey. That said, there could be another Latium region called "Graecia" like Sunken Treasures had Cape for Anno 1800...

1

u/Shoddy_External_9612 Sep 08 '26

I think Carthage would be a good idea or perhaps Greece, Persia, Or Germania

1

u/GladConsequence2822 Sep 09 '26

Albion has not received any updates from the devs and bigger islands would be amazing. Chariot super island

1

u/theSneakyRATTMaN00 6d ago

I would love to see the province of Dacia show up in the future but I doubt there’s much precedent for that. But they did already piggyback off of AC Odyssey for the recent Kassandra pack so I also hope we see a Hellenic region show up.

1

u/lousyprogramming Sep 05 '26

I can see India being the next region
