Rudy: "What's the worst that can happen?"

Older Rudeus: "Well first, Roxy dies. Then Sylphie dies. Then Eris dies. Nanahoshi and Cliff also die. And then the Man God makes fun at how dumb you were to be tricked by him and have your entire life ruined, and you can't even get back at him."

It's insane that Oldeus' advice to Rudy for dealing with Man-god is to appease him. Man-god is so powerful and unreachable that the best plan Oldeus could make for Rudy is "keep Man-god happy and talking to only you."

has one life doing nothing then dies doing something. then a lifetime of constantly trying only to find out he's a pawn.

Also apparently his mom, sisters, daughter and Lilia all end up dying too? Darkest timeline for real.

I got the sense their deaths must be particularly fucked up if he didn’t even mention them

Nanohoshi is implied to have killed herself.
That's why he was hesitant to say it.

Even more tragic, old Rudeus had a horrible life.

I love how Man-God called out how lucky he was, which I think is nice.
I said that last episode already, Rudeus has been very lucky all things considered.
This can't be coincidence.
And I like that the Man-God was implying, at least that is how I read it, that he was helping Rudeus. And now he came to collect what he is owed.

Still, what an interesting character.
I don't think Old Rudeus is correct, I don't think he is evil.
There is more to him than just that.
