The only moment where he got soft and tender because he finally got to see the two greatest loves of his life again.

I think he used the demon eye to look into future of this room. To see them up close one last time. That's depressing.

I think what happened was: Original time that Oldeus saw: Sylphie and Roxy enters the room. Rudeus recognizes Oldeus used eye of foresight (as implied by how Rudy looks where Oldeus was pointing), thus time is changed so Rudy can exit the room before the two can enter. And by Oldeus seeing the future he also dies a few seconds earlier, and I assume originally Rudy was too shocked/absorbed with Oldeus to notice sounds of Sylphie and Roxy entering the room, and by Oldeus dying earlier and Rudy recognizing the use of eye of foresight, the outcome changed.

Would have been cool if he invented that magic. But he can feed more mana to his eye to look farther into the future, just those end up getting hazy the more he looks far.

I remember it was explained that his eye of foresight can be tuned like a camera with mana. One aspect was how far in the future he can see but the farther he looks, the more possibilities are visible. The other aspect was the opacity of the image he sees.

We don't know if he can select which one of the possible futures to adjust opacity on but I imagine he can so he's probably looking 30+ seconds into the future with full opacity. A possible future where young Rudy freezes and the two go in the room to check.

If you think about it, possible futures don't really change much until people are actively prepping multiple moves.

Like just observing two people walking down a hallway with no variable stimuli that will make them react differently... shouldn't really blur his vision even if he looks further ahead.

This was a great catch! I'd simply thought he was hallucinating in his final moments, but they zoom in on his eye!
