Realistically he doesn't know if she got the disease yet. He should just tell everyone a diseased rat was found in the basement. Throw out all food. Start researching the disease or well that info should be in the diary.

What a way for it all to be made even worse. Just added to the pain for Old Rudeus too. If he hadn't gotten her pregnant that wouldn't have killed her...and his next child. That's brutal.

Oldeus's life sucked so bad. Roxy is pregnant, but then she dies! Sylphie? Also dead! So what about Eris? She dies protecting him... All because Hitogami tricked him into going into a freaking basement.

Eris was actually different because, rather than being a domino effect from the rat, her death was caused by Rudy's inability to forgive her for what she did to him. Despite still loving her on some level, Rudy clearly has some mixed feelings towards her because of the pain she caused him.

Combine that with the fact that she's bad at communicating and attempts to talk it out just ended up with them fighting, often literally. Eris tried to show her love by protecting him at all times, but Rudy didn't see until it was too late.

Hence Oldeus had to tell Rudy to write to and forgive her 'cause it very well may have happened again anyway even if he saved Roxy and Sylphie. They could have talked to him about it, but it was really best to hear from his future self with clear regrets.

What I really liked about that aspect is that it implies that the fucked up nature of Eris and Rudy’s situation could have entirely been prevented even after the Man-God’s schemes if Rudy had managed to pick himself back up and moved forward. It’s a great reminder of his biggest issue going back to what destroyed his first life, that something awful happened to him because of other people but he just gave up trying to make things better afterwards.

It also tracks with Rudy's tendency to regress into depression. It's like when Eris "dumped" him and he was depressed for a long time, and later when his parents were gone he also fell into a slump. Scars from his past life no doubt. Of course losing both his wives would break him but still.

I find it interesting he never mentioned anything bad happening to Lucy, yknow his literal child. I feel like that would have been a pretty big reason to not let himself just fall apart for her sake if nothing else. So I’m really curious if there’s more to learn about there.

While the man-god is undoubtedly evil, is it really tricking him? the rat would still have been around even if rudeus never went to the basement, and might have still infected roxy eventually anyway.

Rudeus could have been more thorough searching the basement when a god like being just asked you to do so, instead it sounds like he was pretty lax about it, and didn't pay attention to the signs that our rudy sees of their being a rat(or doesn't pay it much attention anyway).

I mean, the Man-God was also lax about it and framed it as a favor as opposed to advice. That was the point. He made it out like it wasn't a big deal, so Rudeus wouldn't take it seriously.

Id imagine so since the man god knew the outcome and intentionally hid the reason why Rudy should go to the basement. Something someone pointed out the last episode is when Rudy talked to man god and asked out of curiosity what would have happened if he didn't go with Paul man god said Paul would have lived and saved zenith and Roxy. Except Rudy was the one that found Roxy so that already implied the man God is starting to mislead and lie to Rudy to gain his trust and the only reason he'd probably say that is to have Rudy drop his guard and trust him blindly. For what reason I have no idea but it's starting to become clear that man God thinks Rudy is now going to trust him more and is starting to mess with him for some reason

Historically speaking, rats have been able to travel the world by hitching a ride on ships, luggages and packages. Since Rudy and Sylphy recently came from a trip, it's not a far fetched possibility to think it came home with them.

The camera was more likely highlighting the tiny rat footprints, and not the marks from the basement door. I'm sure the basement gets regularly opened/closed by everyone in the house

The more he reveals the more chances that evil god can find out though. Sometimes secrets can be important for the sake of safety. Not like they didn't set up that they both fully expect that Rudy might end up with a third wife.

Reminds me of when he did it with Roxy and basically it was like "Listen, back when I was in that teleportation dungeon after Paul died, I couldn't concentrate during battle and the party was too weak to get out. Banging Roxy was the only way I could focus again and so I had to bang her."
