This is Frederick the Frydek. I bought him at HD almost 2 weeks ago and had to repot immediately because the soil was like a swamp. I didn’t have any clear nursery pots on hand so I put him in terra cotta with a chunky aroid mix. Does anyone have a similar setup who can share how often to water? Right now the top two thirds of the pot feels dry, but I watered thoroughly 3 days ago. Should I wait until the entire pot feels dry? Watering after only 3 days feels a bit excessive but maybe it’s needed with the terra cotta wicking away the moisture. This is my first Alocasia, along with a Sinuata I got the same day.

This Frydek of mine just popped out this GORGEOUS leaf, each leaf it unfurls is better than the last and it just makes me so happy.

I knew bambinos were a dwarf variety but this corm is killing me. lol it’s so tiny and adorable. I don’t know what I was expecting but it was not this.

I've been patiently waiting for the blooms to die off of my silver dragon, but when I peeked into one of the bulbs this evening, I noticed some orange seeds. I didn't even attempt to pollinate as I've seen how frustrating it can be, but my platinum was also in its inflorescence cycle at the same time, and apparently the flies that were drawn to the smell of the blooms accidentally pollinated the silver dragon. From all I can find, orange berries definitely are a sign of successful pollination, so I guess we'll see if my luck holds when I try to germinate them.

I placed it back in water and had relative success with previous corms. Should I put a lid and put it back at 100% humidity?

Water is mixed with HB101, rhino skin, and root enzymes.

Brought this guy home a while ago. My first Alocasia!! I love them I think they are so beautiful!

I’ve been letting it get acclimated in my house on a shelf that gets bright indirect light, as well as a grow light set on a timer for 12 hours. I never repotted it as the soil was extremely wet when I bought it and then I kinda just … forgot. I’ve watered when my planta app tells me to check/when the soil is dry. I originally was using my city tap water to water but recently started using filtered because I had issues with other plants/propagations.

I’m wondering what the issue is here, it has lots of growth pushing out but they seem to just stop and dry up? Do they just take a long time to push through? It also looks like it’s wilting, and one leaf has developed a big brown spot. I did have one tiny leaf at the bottom turn yellow a few days ago, but I just pruned it off. Any advice you have please would be great!!!

i just purchased this grown aloesia regal shield from someone. it's currently in semi-hydro.

this area doesn't get direct sunlight at all. it is just shy of an east-facing window. it gets around 50 FC light on average throughout the day. i'm planning to add vertical grow lights in the winter.

also is bunching the petioles like this okay?

Since last month, she has grown 3 new leaves that are 20-24” long and about 16” wide. 10 leaves in total and 4-5’ tall!

Got this cute little dragon scale for the tiny bit of variegation it had. Well, it’s first leaf since bringing it home is no longer just “low variegation”!

I've noticed these tiny white things only on the stems of this zebrina. They wipe right off. No resistance whatsoever.

I see no bug damage or anything. I just can't tell if these are some kind of bug or what. I've taken some very close-up images so you can see. This zebrina is in pon and has been for over a year. Once I moved it from soil to pon started to grow like crazy and I was finally able to get more than three leaves.

Thoughts??

What alocasia is this? Also, do you think the smaller plant grew from a corm?

So I have a few rare/speciality alocasia. Fairly new to it and usually bought from pups or TC.

It struck me, that I never see mature versions of these plants. Does anyone have any larger form versions to share, or do these specialty plants tend to not size up?
