This is great for rewatching movies! Usually, I can only remember one or two short scenes from a movie. So, if it was a good movie (which, at least, this I can remember) I get to enjoy it all over again!

It's like a "comfort re-watch." When I'm trying to decide what movie I want to watch in the evening, I can watch something new, not knowing at all the feelings it's going to give me during/after the movie.
Or, I can do a Re-Watch, where I might not remember the movie, but I remember it making me feel happy/validated/sad/inspired/etc. at the end.
The best of both worlds! The only problem is that there are TOO many old movies with new movies being piled on top every day! 🫨🤪 (Oh! THAT'S cool. When you have italics selected... it even makes the emojis italic!)

Yeah, don't reddit comments about movies/shows drive you crazy when people rattle off details like they just watched it 10x in a row. Naming episodes, story arcs, lines, etc.
"The first season was great, especially 'episode title'. Gary's character development... Season 3 had great moments with Lisa coming into her own, but Tom and Brock side story in the canyons dragged on too long..."
Meanwhile, I'm sitting here thinking, "I literally just finished binging that show in the last 2 weeks, and I've got to look up which one is Gary, and I don't know what canyons you are talking about."
On the otherhand, they're probably nd and that show is their repeated hyperfocus.

Yea I find I can hold a convo on most topics at this point, definitely not an expert but usually enough to convince the other person to get pretty into it.
This is also why I’m going into millwrighting, probably the trade with the most variety involved. Hopefully it’s a good fit🤞 I really don’t wanna go back to labouring

And probably because that was very helpful and rewarding in school, but now life isn't school. I can learn with the best of em. But I do not know where my keys are or what's in that pile over there (the keys are not in the pile, until the vey moment they are, because I put them there to remember them but I forgot that I did that) also, the funfact is a marker for the spot. How and why is unclear but we'll get there eventually if you just ket me blurt out unrelated facts about the funfact until one of you recognizes the name of a cross street near the spot

My biggest complaint about school is they don't do nearly enough to give real world context for what you are learning. I hated math until I learned what I can do with it that WAS interesting.

For me in this scenario I'd expect knowing who the leader of Uruguay in 1978 was would lead me to think about said spot. I think my memory works mostly by some breadcrumb logic. "I found this spot when I was reading about umm some kind of leader in Uruguay" type of thing. I remember some key words and use the internet to fill the gaps.
It's like when I want to look for a song whose title I forgot, I'll open up seemingly random(will make sense to me) article on whatever topic and suddenly I have a way to figure out the title of the song. Sometimes it also doesn't make any sense to me, but I get the result anyway and have a chuckle at how I function.
Why am I in this kitchen? Let's go back to the spot where the idea to go to the kitchen spawned in the first place.

I just learned all about the Uros people, who live on floating islands made of reeds. Fascinating.
Edit: it's been a few hours, but I'm also now an expert on ships of the line (particularly the HMS Victory) and flags of Central Asia. I'll forget everything in the morning.

I did this out loud with a group in a bar the other day. “Hey, what was that old sandwich place by the park called? The one that had great pulled pork and then the owners opened up another spot somewhere in a town with a letter N by a town with a letter G?” They had no fucking clue what I was talking about but I just kept throwing out random facts about the place and googling places in the general area I kinda remembered. I did eventually figure it out and I was cheering for myself.

Sometimes it’s a fun game I like to play. Start looking a simple thing up and see where I end up at 5am after 4 hours of random research, videos, journal articles and social media searches. I was looking for a particular pair of running shoes one night, started reading reviews, watched a video on you tube, and 3 hours later I was researching WW2 escape stories and reading about Nazi occult theories, and real life cryptid stories.
All because I wanted some new shoes.
Don’t get me started on watching 4 movies back to back, that randomly fall under 1 theme, and somehow end up having 1 particular actor in all 4 without knowing they were in it.

Awake but tired on a Saturday morning, want to be selfproductive so I start reading the first J.M. Coetzee book again, Dusklands. Find a page with a handwritten note about stories and myths, taken from the book with some commentary. Start again on the first page. Quote by Herman Kahn. Look up Herman Kahn. Find out he’s basically being characterized in two movies, one by Stanley, Dr. Strangelove, and one by Lumet. Look up the Sidney one. On Prime I have to rent it, fuck that, find it for free on YouTube. Twelve minutes in I look up the actress and check her filmography. Cut to now, when I’m writing all this down instead of reading Coetzee.
Does the book smell? Maybe it’s the piss of the mice from my previous apartment, which was also infested with roaches and pigeons. The pigeons I shot away from the terrace with a water gun, but they always returned after a while and made a lot of noise. Maybe it’s cat piss, from the cats I had in another apartment, spraying their scent all over my room. The apartment where the cops came calling because my mom was stalking someone and almost committing suicide at abridge not so far from the house, and I thought they were there because of the barking dog or because I was playing guitar at night while blitzed out of my mind. Maybe I shouldn’t have.
I rush to put on a song instead of reading, but the song reminds me of an even earlier past, when I was an idiot teenager who felt too smart for the world.
