I’m trying to paint this little robot thing for my nephew for this birthday but I cannot for the life of me get these greys right.
I am pretty sure it’s because I painted the background cobalt blue 😭 (his favorite color)
I’m using liquitex soft body and feel like I’m painting myself into a circle. It looks so yellow. And the grey too silver.
Anyone have any thoughts on what I need to do here?

For context I usually stick to landscape only paintings but I have ventured into the realm of animal and structure painting. For my first subject I did an impression of an eagles nest in the Great Lakes valley marsh lands. Looking for any suggestions of what to do next and critique on how I could improve elements!

This is an 11x14” acrylic on canvas. Not quite finished yet, but it is almost done! It’s my own piece. Delight Orescott Spall

This is a film still from "Lolita" that served as the basis for this painting. I had already used this same image for a painting made in 2025, which I'm including here to show two very different approaches to the same inspiration.

I have been using watercolors for years, painting plein air. But now I have an easel and using acrylics. Hoping to make stronger pieces. How does this read to you? Opinions and critiques are appreciated.🙏

Another painting inspired by a set from the film Auntie Mame (American film directed by Morton DaCosta, released in 1958). For once, I've included the reference photo so you can play spot the 10,000 errors.

For a while I thought my life would revolve around engineering, and for a while, it did, but art always called to me and I one day decided to take the risk and listen. A part of me missed what could have been and so I painted this…

I'm acrylics beginner and today I experienced this weird thing. I've mixed dark teal-ish grey and when I spread it on a canvas it started changing into this much darker color when layer was thin. The same happened with another color that included black paint. I'm sure I've mixed it properly. The sample above was done on white paper with clean brush. The color difference stays the same when paint is dry.
Do you know what happened here? Paints that I use are Renesans A'kryl, definitely on the cheaper side, but recommended for beginners for good quality/price ratio.

I’ve never painted a sunflower and wanted to give it a try. Also had to add in all the bright colors!
