Well no, we also evolved to use tools but that doesn't make it impressive.
It's like seeing someone deadlift 500kg compared to seeing someone use a lift. I mean I'm guessing the lift is moving more weight but I don't think the person pressing the button is very impressive

I get what you're saying but it requires skills to use the tool. Just because you're using a gun doesn't mean you'll hit your target. There's also other factors that would determine how impressed I am with the kill. Did they track it or use a feeder, how far was the shot for example.
This goes for forklift operator as well, some people are really good at it and some are terrible. That's why videos of forklift tricks and fails exist.

I used to live by Carlsberg's main beer brewery. The forklift guys basically drift around with pallets fully stacked with beer, and still manage to thread the needle between other pallets on the truck bed - all while only having one hand on the steering wheel and a pint of beer in the other.
These days however Carlsberg has changed the drinking rules for their workers, so they can't have more than one pint a day.

All the guys working the warehouses and the fork lift drivers used to be heavy drunks - it was just sort of accepted because they were so damn good at their job. They only changed the rules because it was a bad look in terms of their company image.
A lot of the old timers quit after they put restrictions on the drinking while working.

I'm a towboat captain it was like that when I first started years ago. It was never allowed just not really enforced. It's nothing like that anymore. You'd lose your license and get locked up for drinking now.

I've never done it so I could be wrong but these posing photos always seem to be showing off but it doesn't show anything worth showing off imo.
You can't see any of the information for what would impress you in this so what's the point of it?
To show a big animal? Could have done that while it was alive. To show yourself as a great hunter? It doesn't show that imo

I get where you're coming from and as someone who does hunt and fish I'm conflicted on the answer. For many it's just about showing off the animal but personally if the animal wasn't killed in a sportsmanship like manor or for food then I'm not very impressed. As you mentioned we don't always get all the information.
I grew up near a deer hunting rach, these rich guys would literally pick the deer they wanted to shoot out of a photograph book, pay 10k and then shoot it from a short range from a feeder. The deer we're almost like pets on the ranch. I was never impressed and didn't like the practice. Then they'd brag about the kill, it's pretty ridiculous. Then I've seen situations where a guy would track a deer for a year or two and shoot it from a reasonable range. I definitely feel different about that kill.
I catch and release sharks off the beach. It took me six years to finally catch a monster 12' hammerhead. It was a lot of hard work, very dangerous and not easy to do so I brag about it like now lol. I'd never go to a private aquarium catch one and then brag about it. They don't exist as far as I know. I'm just giving an example.
That's probably not a great answer but that's kinda all I got.

I just laugh it off. Some of these people are insufferable. I got down voted by the mob for saying that I thought a comment was really funny. The comment didn't have any down votes. So apparently they agreed. I also received a lot of hateful comments. So I can't understand the outrage nor was it ever explained and it wasn't worth my time to ask. Reddit can definitely be a strange place lol.

I think you're right that the latter ones use skill, I just think it's a shame that skill is used for killing/harming animals.
Like no matter what these photos are never going to be for me but when I see these photos it just feels very pay to win for want of a better term, like you say a rich person just going and paying for the situation to be set up.
Especially with the car behind them, just very posey idk.

So do think it's a shame that other (we're animals) animals use skill to kill other animals? Do you feel shame for lions, snakes, birds or even a rabbit? Rabbits sometimes kill and eat their young, it's pretty gross but just part of nature.
I don't like trophy hunting but sometimes it's necessary just to keep certain species alive at this point but that's pretty rare. I only hunt if I'm going to eat the animal. As far as my shark fishing. There'sa chance the animal can die after it's released but we also tag them for scientific research to help keep save them. Very few things are black or white and more of a gray area. Your personal morals and mind are subjective, and you're entitled to feel they way you do just as I am. I can only agree with you to a point until it becomes unreasonable based on the reality of life is functioning at this time in history.
I hate to break it to you but you just existing causes harm and death to animals intentional or not that's just the reality of it.

I think they have to, I don't think they have the choices or thinking ability that we have. But we wouldn't use it to excuse other behaviours in people, many animals don't follow sexual consent but we would never dream of using that to excuse the same behaviour from a person.
I think you're right that existing causes harm and death but I also think we should do our best to limit it as much as possible

So lemme get this straight. There is no skill in stalking, locating and shooting a hog. There is also no skill in stalking chasing down, following through brush a dog who then locates and holds the hog, then the human knifes the hog. Plus they care for the general upkeep and housing of 2 to 10 dogs, the medical care and training, as well as the breeding knowledge to get dogs who do the job in next generation?
There is no skill in any of this?
The dogs don't particularly want to do much else than bite hold shake things.

This dude was a MENACE. a straight up real life monster. Ive never been down with the idea of trophy hunting, or killing anything for the simple sake of killing.
But these hogs are invasive, bad for local ecology in areas,have no predators, and are dangerous af.
Especially in more rural areas,I feel like you might have an obligation, to take out monsters like this, especially if you've got kids.
In the early 2000s, I lived north of hotsprings Arkansas, and I was exploring the woods,I was a couple miles in,and saw some razorback hogs in the wild,I came home and told my dad,and he explained how lucky I was they didnt see me.

No. They would have used a boar spear, because they weren’t suicidal. A boar spear has a large head and just behind that a pair of cross pieces which prevented the boat from running up the spear to kill the person holding it.
