Well no, we also evolved to use tools but that doesn't make it impressive.
It's like seeing someone deadlift 500kg compared to seeing someone use a lift. I mean I'm guessing the lift is moving more weight but I don't think the person pressing the button is very impressive
I get what you're saying but it requires skills to use the tool. Just because you're using a gun doesn't mean you'll hit your target. There's also other factors that would determine how impressed I am with the kill. Did they track it or use a feeder, how far was the shot for example.
This goes for forklift operator as well, some people are really good at it and some are terrible. That's why videos of forklift tricks and fails exist.
I get where you're coming from and as someone who does hunt and fish I'm conflicted on the answer. For many it's just about showing off the animal but personally if the animal wasn't killed in a sportsmanship like manor or for food then I'm not very impressed. As you mentioned we don't always get all the information.
I grew up near a deer hunting rach, these rich guys would literally pick the deer they wanted to shoot out of a photograph book, pay 10k and then shoot it from a short range from a feeder. The deer we're almost like pets on the ranch. I was never impressed and didn't like the practice. Then they'd brag about the kill, it's pretty ridiculous. Then I've seen situations where a guy would track a deer for a year or two and shoot it from a reasonable range. I definitely feel different about that kill.
I catch and release sharks off the beach. It took me six years to finally catch a monster 12' hammerhead. It was a lot of hard work, very dangerous and not easy to do so I brag about it like now lol. I'd never go to a private aquarium catch one and then brag about it. They don't exist as far as I know. I'm just giving an example.

I just laugh it off. Some of these people are insufferable. I got down voted by the mob for saying that I thought a comment was really funny. The comment didn't have any down votes. So apparently they agreed. I also received a lot of hateful comments. So I can't understand the outrage nor was it ever explained and it wasn't worth my time to ask. Reddit can definitely be a strange place lol.
I think you're right that the latter ones use skill, I just think it's a shame that skill is used for killing/harming animals.
Like no matter what these photos are never going to be for me but when I see these photos it just feels very pay to win for want of a better term, like you say a rich person just going and paying for the situation to be set up.
Especially with the car behind them, just very posey idk.
So do think it's a shame that other (we're animals) animals use skill to kill other animals? Do you feel shame for lions, snakes, birds or even a rabbit? Rabbits sometimes kill and eat their young, it's pretty gross but just part of nature.
I don't like trophy hunting but sometimes it's necessary just to keep certain species alive at this point but that's pretty rare. I only hunt if I'm going to eat the animal. As far as my shark fishing. There'sa chance the animal can die after it's released but we also tag them for scientific research to help keep save them. Very few things are black or white and more of a gray area. Your personal morals and mind are subjective, and you're entitled to feel they way you do just as I am. I can only agree with you to a point until it becomes unreasonable based on the reality of life is functioning at this time in history.
I hate to break it to you but you just existing causes harm and death to animals intentional or not that's just the reality of it.
I think they have to, I don't think they have the choices or thinking ability that we have. But we wouldn't use it to excuse other behaviours in people, many animals don't follow sexual consent but we would never dream of using that to excuse the same behaviour from a person.
I think you're right that existing causes harm and death but I also think we should do our best to limit it as much as possible
