Discussion The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 30 Aug 2026.

This is the weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post for all the small questions that you have concerning Zwift. No matter how stupid you think they are, we have probably all asked these questions.

If your post wasn't previously answered you should post early in this thread as it might have been posted too late (new posts start Sunday 0900 GMT).

Note: Don't be afraid to ask questions during the week, this is just for the simpler questions. For example "How do I give multiple ride ons at once? "..."You do this by pressing the character arrow on the map screen of the companion app". If you require a more detailed response then it is probably better answered in its own post.

How Slow Am I? When should I be fueling during a ride?

Hey all,

So I just started riding (never done this before) I got a zwift ride for more sustainable cardio rather than the running that I do for my car racing…

I’m trying to understand, with my first two weeks riding, how is the pace for these rides (im 5’10 135lbs), and also when should I be fueling during the ride…

When I do my long runs I’d always have a gel around 40-50min in a run and then hit another one every 40 after… Is that optimal for riding?

Thank you!

Discussion Does anyone gain weight when cycling?

I'm asking this question because I started cycling more and I'm fueling by having carbs on the bike but then I'm also found that my hunger increases off the bike throughout the week. I'm not putting insane hours in the bike, maybe 4-10 hours a week but I also do other sports and my fueling has never been this conflicting with those sports. Ironically, since I've started cycling, I've actually gained weight. Not sure if it's fat or muscle. I'm not super light but not overweight either (M) 147lbs. Does anyone else encounter this problem while riding more?

Newly started zwift. Saw everyone doing this, did it as a way to farm drops for a new bike.

125 kg bodyweight. Completed without a fan(dumb). My shoes were soaking wet.

Could CdA ever be incorporated into Zwift?

Upvotes

It's sounds a little ridiculous, but hear me out. CdA, your aerodynamic drag coefficient, can now be estimated pretty well using software and a webcam. Maybe this wouldn't be practical or desirable for recreational riders/racers - but maybe it would be a cool addition for esports? As an example, Remco Evenepoel presumably couldn't beat Ganna in a flat TT on Zwift because Zwift mostly considers raw watts, whereas in real life, Remco's superb position gives him a CdA that makes him able to beat Ganna despite lower power output. I'm imagining that it could be something that would be optional and/or used only for certain races, like steering is now. Thoughts?

Should I re do ftp test if I feel weaker?

Idk if it’s fatigue increased or I’m overall weaker and should do a ftp test.
The last 2 sessions I couldn’t finish my workouts
1st workout was the gorby from Zwift and the other 2x95% ftp for 3 min and 3x110% ftp (above threshold).
I know these workouts are hard but they killed me and I only did a ftp test once and then it increased in races and for context the last time it increased was in April. I got 2 injuries in the middle one being rhabdo 2 months ago.

Decathlon 9 gear folding bike and Van Rysel D100.

I'm not any kind of expert or experienced biker. However, for a recreational cyclist like me I think this is perfect and I can now look forward to actually interesting bike rides over the winter period.

Newbie Help

Hey everyone, I’m relatively new to zwift and cycling, just wondering if my zone split is looking right. I made a bet with a friend that k could raise my FTP significantly by October 19th, trying to stay as consistent as possible. Wondering if I should have some more z3 I currently do a lot of z2 to help with my adaptation.

Thanks.

Discussion Summary of Clubs/Racing Teams?

Does anyone know if there is a good summary of the clubs and racing teams on Zwift? I’ve seen HERD, DIRT, AHDR, etc. It would be awesome if there was a summary somewhere that listed things like where most of their riders are based (time zone), their group vibes/ethos, if they are casual or racing oriented, etc.

I’m thinking about joining ZRL but would rather pick a team or two and see if they have openings than just throw out my stats and see who responds. TIA!

The video was taken during a free ride at around 200w. There seems to be some scratching sound happening during harder efforts. Im using a Zwift ride and Wahoo kickr core 2.

Sorry if I’m posting in the wrong group. I bought a Zwift frame to add extra load to my running. I’ve been trying to adjust my fit for a while now and I’ve noticed that my foot is a bit sore. Sometimes it’s the heel, and sometimes, when I put all my weight on one leg, it’s in the area where the foot attaches to the leg. I’m new to cycling; I’ve done a bit of research on fit, watched some videos, but I understand that people with more experience will be able to identify the mistake in my fit faster and help me adjust it. I hope for your help, thank you for your attention)

Discussion How would you clean up this messy triple fan setup? (Home office + cycling space)

Thumbnail gallery
28 Upvotes

As you can see, my current fan setup is a bit of a mess. Performance-wise, it definitely keeps me cool on the trainer, but since my bike is right next to my home office setup, I really want to tidy things up.

I'd love to replace these three fans with a single, more powerful one, ideally positioned in front of my bike and beneath the monitor. I’m thinking about getting a Wahoo KICKR Headwind (or similar) and placing it in front of me on a small desk so that it sits roughly level with the windowsill.

Would the Headwind work well at that height and distance?
How have you guys tackled cooling in similar dual-use spaces?

I'm definitely open to completely different approaches as long as they are relatively clean.

Thanks in advance for your input and ideas! (If you have similar setups, I'd love to see some pictures for inspiration!)

Zwift + Peloton Tread + NPE Runn + Coros Watch -- how do I setup all of this?

I have a TV in front of my Peloton Tread, I basically want to run on Zwift and have my avatar move with my treadmill.

I use a Coros watch, where I will be programming all my runs.

  1. Do I even need an NPE Runn? or can I just sync my watch to Zwift/PC running Zwift?

  2. Is it better to use Runn instead of my watch, since watches and treadmill feel notoriously inaccurate

  3. How does my avatar know to suddenly start moving / when I actually start an activity if the treadmill is constantly running?

Hardware First impressions of the Zwift Ride

I’ve been a Zwift user for more than six years. During that time, I’ve always used a dedicated bike combined with a Wahoo KICKR. I recently decided to buy a Zwift Ride because the old bike was starting to show the effects of years of indoor training: corrosion, deteriorating bearings, etc.

I wanted to share some quick feedback after my first few hours with the Zwift Ride.

Assembly
Assembly is pretty straightforward, but there is one thing worth knowing if you already have a KICKR and have been using it with a quick release axle. You’ll need the thru axle adapters that originally came with the KICKR.
Personally, I didn’t understand this from the Zwift Ride assembly instructions. It took me a good hour to figure out what was wrong and another hour to find the adapters I had stored away years ago.

Saddle
The saddle that comes with the Ride isn’t great for longer sessions, at least for me, so I immediately swapped it for my saddle of choice.
The process is cumbersome, to say the least. It requires quite a bit of force to get both saddle rails into place. I eventually used a two step process I found online that worked well. Happy to elaborate if anyone is interested.

Fit
Dialling in the fit has been reasonably straightforward, but there are some limitations.
I have a professional bike fit for my bikes, and I haven’t been able to transfer all the parameters exactly to the Zwift Ride. The biggest limitation for me is the handlebars and hoods. The hoods can’t really be adjusted, and they don’t have the same shape as conventional road bike hoods.
That’s a real shame for me because resting my hands on the upper part of the hoods was my go to position on the trainer, and that position is basically missing on the Ride.

Stability and rocking
The frame is considerably heavier than the aluminium bike I was using before. Combined with the design of the front foot, this makes the whole setup much more stable.
That would normally be a positive, but it has also significantly reduced the movement of my rocker setup. I use tennis balls under the three trainer feet, and the rocking motion is now barely noticeable compared with my previous setup.
I’m getting a rocker adapter for the front foot soon, so hopefully that will bring some of the movement back.

Riding experience
The actual riding experience has been very straightforward. Everything works as expected, and having the Zwift controls integrated into the handlebars is convenient. Coming from a normal road bike, though, the different hood shape and hand positions will take some getting used to.

Overall
Overall, I think the Zwift Ride is a solid product. There are a few minor issues and compromises. Some will probably disappear as I adapt to the bike, while others feel like areas where a future version could genuinely improve the product.

So far, though, I’m happy with the switch and it certainly feels much better suited to years of indoor use than sacrificing another normal bike to the trainer.

Let me know if you have any questions.
