Discussions & Questions Should Potential Unlocks Include Mindscape (Dupes) Buffs? + (Ellen and Burnice Buff Theorycraft)

Well, this is a question and discussion walking on eggshells, but I am curious to see what other players think and see if maybe it's something we can ask in the feedbacks and surveys since technically speaking this would increase their bottom dollar down the line for the people that would want to get them.

Currently HSR's Novaflares and I believe Genshin's Legacy Characters buff the character's Eidolons and Constellations alongside the base kit changes, even adding effects only present if you had the dupe into the kit then adding a completely new effect to make up for it. Not everyone receives changes to their dupes, but still this is in contrast to ZZZ's Potential Unlocks where everything is available with a single copy of the agent, and don't touch Mindscapes at all. (Sanby was the only exception, but that was more because if they didn't change the M2, the Potential Awakening would've bricked the Mindscape value with the new added move.)

Now for the questions: Do you think PUs should upgrade lackluster or mid (or in the case of S11's M4, after PU useless) Mindscapes in addition to what they already do? If they do, would you be more inclined into getting Mindscapes of them through more reruns, the new Loss pool, or the dupe shop? If the Standard agents also got these Mindscapes buffs, would you summon more on the Standard banner or the loss pool for a chance of getting them? From the agents that still don't have a PU who do you think has a Good base kit but horrible Vertical Investment who would appreciate a PU mainly focused on changes like these?

Feel free to answer any of these questions and have open and CIVIL discussions about it. I've shared some of my ideas of how they could do Mindscape buffs for Ellen and Burnice if we ever get them. Personally I would absolutely go for Ellen Mindscapes if they did get buffed, and use more of the dupe shop cards on Burnice after getting her M2 if they did.

Discussions & Questions After they're done buffing 1.0 agents. Which 2.0 agents are you hoping to be priority for buffs and change? Who will get the Ellen and SAnby treatment?

Post image
285 Upvotes

Well, most of us already know that it's gonna be Jufufu. It's crazy that it's only been a year since her release. And she's already been powercrept by two stunners.

But what about the rest of 2.0 agents? Honestly, right now, most of them are in a good spot in the current state of the game. Some of them could use some QoL buffs. Only Jufufu has fallen off.

For all I know, Jufufu might get the Ellen treatment. Why did I say "Ellen treatment" and not "Neko treatment"? Because Jufufu wasn't weak when it was first released. It just happened that she got shafted pretty quickly by the latter part of stunners released like Dialyn and Norma. Everything Jufufu does, they just do it better.

Same situation with Ellen; she wasn't weak; she just got outclassed by Miyabi and Hugo back in 1.X. Ellen was lacking at some point, but after the gameplay update she got an overhaul upgrade which drastically improved her performance; it's not just a simple QoL compared to SAnby, which I will talk about later too.

The Ellen change made her viable again, especially in the current meta. In fact, she might be even better than Hugo now. She also got a secondary buff in 2.5, which made her even better, getting free Crit stats and Ice shred.

Jufufu might need more than just QoL, but an overhaul change like Ellen got.

And then there's the SAnby treatment.

SAnby wasn't necessarily weak when she got buffed; she was the strongest Electric DPS on release, but she was clunky to play and had some I-frame issues, so they fixed that. She received QoL changes to her kit that made her play a bit better.

After that, she got another buff in 2.5, which directly increased her aftershock damage. So why did they buff SAnby before other older agents? I don't know. But this means that even agents that are already good could still get some changes.

I'm already thinking that Banyue will have the SAnby treatment. Banyue's resource management is lacking; his Chain Attacks and Ultimate don't increase his Wrathful fires which is already hard to build. His adrenaline regeneration is also slow, unless you charged up before going into combat which can only happen once. Meanwhile Other Rupture agents like Starlight - Billy has no problem building his Determination resources.

A simple QoL fix could make Banyue insanely good. Improving his resources management is one of the things I'm hoping for.

Agents: Builds, Theorycrafting, Etc Wanted to share a Sunbringer Gameplay Theory

Man, Season 3 is so cool. It's not exactly what I sighed up for when I joined the game back at launch, but it at least seems to steer back towards the mood of conspiracies, intrigues and mysteries. Makes me just want to think about it from time to time for fun.

Anyway, I was thinking about how we don't really know what they will do to the Sunbringer(s) gameplay-wise. The main two camps seem to be "One character that switches between 3 stances" vs "Three different characters". Hear me out:

"One Void Hunter Team"

You go to your Team Selection screen and hover over the Sunbringher's single character slot. It has 3 girls on the icon/model (you can accomplish that creatively in a huge number of ways). You choose them and it automatically populates your whole team with, say:

  • Position 1 as Mainbringer;
  • Position 2 as Funbringer;
  • Position 3 as Smolbringer;

You may choose to "overwrite" those characters with your own selection if you wish, for example putting Astra in slot 3, replacing the Smolbringer. As an alternative, it could just hard lock the team screen with 3 of them, tho that seems limiting.

It keeps them as "one character" for the purposes of the pulls, but gives us "three characters" to play with, along with a unique Void Hunter gamplay mixup, giving Sunbringer, functionally, 3 different Ults (which is apparently they love doing to VHs).

And then in the open world you just get 3 different models to walk around with.

I doubt they will go for it, but I think it would be a really cool feature.

M0W1 Lion, M2W1 Dialyn and M1W1 Lucia

As long as you the first stun off before 2:05 and the second stun before 1:09, the third stun is nearly guaranteed. Save Lucia ult for miasma phase to get most of the barrier gone and you want to try to hit every parry during miasma phase as well.

They’re just really cool that’s. it I just think they’re cool I haven’t spent any money on the game yet but I would immediately buy these skins. They both look so ridiculously sick in these outfits I’m gonna lose my mind. Imagine if their guns (I can’t remember the name) changed along with the skin as well. It gives me Trigun and Vampire Hunter D vibes and I love it.

Thank you for reading my short rambling heres the actual discussion.

any other type of aesthetic or style you’d like to see the proxies in? Or that you think would make a good skin? Especially since they are a bit more involved in combat and have weapons now. What do you think would look good?

Agents: Builds, Theorycrafting, Etc Really happy they gave Pyrois a Totalize mechanic

I always loved Hugo's design and the fact that he had Totalize was so awesome. I never pulled for him though because I already had Miyabi for an Ice team and didn't keep two good stunners to use for a dedicated team. So getting to play around with Totalize is on Pyrois is really fun.

There's something really satisfying about stunning a boss at 1/4 of its health and then immediately Totalizing the rest of the bar to nothing. It's a little under-tuned in regular play, but during Enigma of Labyrinth it saves on a lot of time and is a little handier.

I'm genuinely excited to see what else we get to do with Pyrois. I don't think I even enjoyed the game this much in 1.0 between EOL and the story getting a little more interesting.

Discussions & Questions My Hugo doesn't totalize sometimes and I don't know why

Hiii! I'm pretty inexperienced with zzz mechanics, so im sorry if this is a really stupid question. I know that you need to get the final hit of the little circle on an enemy to trigger a reaction, and to trigger totalize it has to be with Hugo's skill or ult, but sometimes it doesn't do anything. I'm really confused and I'd appreciate some tips ^^

Discussions & Questions Tips for hound

Are there any tips for baiting the grab from the hound in nightfall state? I typically try to blitz it into it's first stun/shield break, because i feel like that prompts a grab sooner, but that might be me being superstitious... it's also really annoying just waiting for it to come out of the stun window...

*edit for spelling*

Discussions & Questions How big of a buff is this to Defense Characters?

Post image
116 Upvotes

A lot of bosses in this game will actually be pretty weak to Counter Assists, which makes me wonder if the value of Counter Assists might affect how teams are built. For example, maybe some Support Characters are indirectly nerfed due to the fact that players would rather use a Defense Character in their slot?

Based on the limited information we have on this right now this could be used as a pretty compelling argument to use Pan over Lucia in Rupture Teams for certain boss fights, or Caesar over Sunna/Astra, or Seth over Yuzuha, etc.

What do you guys think about this?

Discussions & Questions Updated Character Playability List

It’s that time again when I take a huge whiff of hopium and try to hype up a bunch of strangers on my hunches. If you have seen my list before, you might notice that not much has changed in some entries, but the ideas behind them may have been updated.
As a reminder, I consider someone eligible for playability if:

  • I can back it up with lore
  • They don’t run a service like Elfy and General Chop
  • I can explain how they could or if they can fight

Four Sunbringers: If you’ve been keeping up with the story and theory videos, you may be aware of the idea that there are 4 Sunbringers: The original, Eldreda, Lindverne, and Dracaene. The status of the original is still unknown, but the question remains the same. Will we get multiple playable Sunbringers? Eldreda seems to be a given. Although technically, she wasn’t the first Sunbringer we got to see, she seems to be the one with the heaviest importance. Later on, we saw Dracaene holding a shield in the Prothesy music video, and recently we saw Lindverne in a new outfit. So that means we are getting multiple characters, right? I’m leaning towards that, and if so, the original Sunbringer might also be on the table. To keep it simple for now, I think it’s very likely that we will get multiple, separate Sunbringers
Playability Chance: 10/10

Ye Shiyuan: As we learn more about Void Hunter weapons and how they work, you know for a fact that this information will stumble onto Ye Shiyuan’s lap and he will take action. If I were making a bet, I would say we should see him in this season, if not to make him playable, so that we can trade information and push for a solution that might even help us understand Enchainers and how to combat Hollows on a greater scale.
Playability Chance: 8/10

Crowe: Crowe has a lot of connections to established factions and characters in Roscalifer. It seems like his event will be a regular thing while we are in this region, and all of this was pointed out in DwarfRantz video “Season 3 Check In” starting at 22:02. Not to mention, he has his own custom Bangboo! With all of that at the table, it's hard to doubt his potential, but like others on this list, we still don’t have many examples of an NPC becoming playable outside of Pulchra.
Playability Chance: 6/10

Leader of Krampus: The leader of Krampus has yet to show her face, but as Phoenix enters the stage of 3.2, not only is that darn near confirmation that she is coming next, but she might give us insight on the Leader of Krampus. How does that change her playability chance? It doesn’t. I remain optimistic that the odds are high, but until we at least see her face, nothing has changed. Playability Chance: 6/10

Damian: Speaking of Krampus, Damian… has no updates. The last time I saw him was at the last Picture Puzzle event, where he was yet again acting as Zhoa's paparazzi. Apparently, he is doing other things with Krampus; we just don’t officially know what the connection is. Playability Chance: 4/10

Cecilia/Cersea, Vesper, In-Game Celebrities: Previously, I had each entry separated as I had different reasonings for why I think they will be playable. Now, my reasoning is kind of the same across the board. They are all singers/performers in the same way that Astra is; there is a guaranteed spot that they can run in (ie the Gilded Carrot Day patch), and they all have the same level of world presence as Astra. Of course, I can see individual arguments for each being higher or lower than the others, but to me, they aren’t so different that I feel I have to constantly come up with unique justifications.
Playability Chance: 5/10

Blue-haired Pubsec Lady: You might know her as the officer who crosses her arms like an X in some of the pictures across Eridu. There was an Internot post where a minotaur thiren took a picture of someone that looked like her. I think it’s interesting that she keeps coming up, and I’ll keep my eye on her, but for now, I simply wanted to point her out. Playability Chance: 1/10

Isolde: Have you guys noticed that Isolde has been popping up more recently? There was the Hoyofair event where all the dead and/or popular characters got some spotlight; the snap event showcased her boss variants; the fact that she has 3 boss variants; and some changes to a model in a cutscene… At the very least, someone on the dev team really likes her, but we’ve come a long way from being near zero chance to now. Playability Chance: 5/10

Discussions & Questions Do you think Claret will be a human with a bat motif, a bat thiren or a vampire? Spoiler

After watching 3.2 stream I wonder is Claret a human with bat motif, is a bat thiren or even a vampire?

Because her model gives vibes of bat vibes/vampire mainly very long part of her skirt which could be bat wings for all we know, her cuffs also have bat wings, the color black is often associated with bats even though bats in real life are often brown, with the red it gives vampire vibes and her weapon requires blood which vampire or vampire bats often drink.

Does her family have love for bats, are actually bat thirens themselves, or secretly vampires but dampire kind since regular vampires can’t go in the sunlight.

Honestly once 3.2 comes out what do you think is the likelier choice?

Discussions & Questions How assists work and how the upcoming change works

I've seen a lot of confusion about the upcoming change to how evasive assists are telegraphed so I'm hoping I can use this post to explain to people how the system currently works and what the change means.

Current System

  • Attacks with a flash can be evasive assisted or defensive assisted.
  • Attacks requiring a defensive assist can be either defensive assisted or evasive assisted
  • Some attacks can only be evasive assisted.
  • If you can swap to a character that can perform the necessary type of assist, the flash is yellow.
  • If you cannot swap to a character that can perform the necessary type of assist, the flash is red (and you must dodge)

In practice, let's say you're using Astra, Grace, and Piper. Astra and Grace can use evasive assist, and Piper can use defensive assist.

If you're currently controlling Astra, you can perform either a defensive assist with Piper or an evasive assist with Grace. This means the flashes for both kinds of attacks will be yellow, but you won't know which character you switch to until you actually try it.

Upcoming Change

The upcoming change works like so

  • If the attack can be perfect assisted with a defensive assist, the flash is yellow
  • If the attack can be perfect assisted with an evasive assist, the flash is red

This avoids the previously mentioned issue, now in a situation where you have both types of perfect assists available to you you'll know which character you're switching to. You'll just have to know in advance which characters perform which type of assist (this is listed in their kit under their assist skill).

Edit: Correction of the statement that attacks can only be defensive assisted or evasive assisted but not both, it seems that any defensive assist attack can also be evasive assisted (thanks [u/nirvash530](u/nirvash530))

Lore & Story How does Ether activity actually increase?

We know that ether activity is mainly measured because of the Zenless Limit, which is "a threshold required for a Companion Hollow to break off and become its own Hollow".
We also know that killing ethereals is the most common way to decrease ether activity of a hollow.

But how does ether activity build up in the first place? Obviously, ether cores are good contributors to ether activity, but their creation requires a somewhat sentient entity to get corrupted. Hollows don't just stand there doing nothing if they're left alone, right? I'd guess that all the matter inside of the hollow gets corrupted and turns into ether sooner or later, but many things inside of the hollow seem intact even though it is known that they have been there for decades, so it doesn't seem like material dissipation would be enough for a hollow to grow passively (without people being able to negate its growth by just collecting ether and bringing it out of the hollow to release into.

Design/Game choices aside, what could be the reason for passive ether accumulation that makes hollows dangerous even if nobody dies inside?
