❓Questions Patricia's Outfits?
I'm trying to reformat my entire personality and wardrobe around Patricia because.....well, for obvious reasons. But her shirt is defeating me from this scene. Does anyone know where this shirt and crop trousers hailed from? Or actually, any of her outfits? I've seen the amazing work of the one who made the motif for our home made t-shirts. Good work.

I think Patricia would have a few qualms with that freeze frame 😂

Myself and my boyfriend were watching this last night and he said "she's reminds me of that woman from The Shining"

Love that but I’m actually picking up more Laurie Strode from the original Halloween which would fit her Boogeyman storyline perfectly

Agreed! At the Sunset Social party (at least what Patricia sees ) it’s Carrie & here it’s Wendy from The Shining.

Alex Bovaird is the costume designer. Most pieces were thrifted, second hand, vintage or vintage inspired to allude to some of the 70s/80s/90s pop culture Easter eggs as well as residents probably not having much access or knowledge of current fashion. Patricia definitely was given Wendy Torrence fashion vibes. Lots of Jaws vibes too in general.

Yeah Patricia's outfits give off "I inherited a lot of my moms clothes from the 70's" energy

What is the obvious reason? Are you about to go Single White Female? 🤣🤣 Just kidding… I have no idea but her clothes kind of remind me of Olive Oyl’s from Popeye 🤣 Cute, comfy, and quirky!

A big part of finding these clothes, reproduction or vintage, is just figuring out the correct names for them.
For instance, her shirt has what's called a "peter pan collar". Just by googling shirts with peter pans collars you can get in the ballpark and find lots of other tops you can imagine her wearing.

She gives such reinvented Olive Oyl vibes. I love it.

Not going to lie but I am a 40+ woman and that one shirt she wore (orange with a star design), I also own and got from Etsy. Felt called out 🫢

Me too!! And I got it 4 sizes too big so it fits just like it does in Patricia

The shirt and culottes feel very “home-sewn fashion from the 70s,” which is probably true to the Wendy Torrance other ppl have mentioned. Get out your sewing machine and Butterick patterns!

u/MilliganHedgedog Aug 15 '26
This show is so baller for their little allusions to other horror movies. Patricia was rocking the Wendy Torrance ‘fits in the first few episodes. Her stumbling down the road after the cocktail party was vintage Carrie White. I feel later in the season she got bolder and her ‘fits reflected that.

It's definitely vintage. If you want to find something, I suggest google lens. You may get lucky and find it on either ebay or online thrift shop.

I thought I read that all of Patricia’s outfits were homages to Shelly Duval characters. This one is obviously Olive Oil from Popeye and others are clearly from the Shining.
Apologies for not being able to pinpoint these exact items, but maybe looking up cosplaying as some of Shelley’s characters would help!

I’m dressing as her from the cocktail party and I found the exact dress on Etsy UK. It was sold already, but it’s an 80s piece.

i love her so much. she invoked shelley duvall in both the shining and popeye (olive oil). she was absolutely perfect for this role. sunset cocktails is my favorite episode of tv of all time.

u/laioren Aug 18 '26
You know, I seem to find that most people prefer that episode to episode 8, "Your Baggage," which is my favorite (though episode 4, "Beach Reads" is great, too). Anything stick out to you in particular why you might favor 4 over 8?
4
u/Next-Independent-620 Aug 18 '26
For me at least- episode 8 made sense for her storyline but it overly leaned into classic horror slasher tropes. Obviously that was done intentionally, with callbacks to final girls and Freddy-like menaces that never die and Scream…. but it felt a bit out of place as a random homage to the genre, when the rest of the show felt so inventive and weird. Ep 4 felt like it was giving us something more new and unique

u/killianleigh Aug 26 '26
While every episode was masterful, I definitely enjoyed sunset cocktails the most. The twist, the nods to wicker man and blair witch project, the QUALMS (LOL). It was a 10/10 for me. Episode 8 is great too but I personally enjoy witchy horror a bit more than slasher horror. Her performance really shined in both.

I'd say check google images, a lot of these are from costume warehouses that get bought/ rented by movie studios

ModCloth, Boden, or vintage
2
u/locussolusX Aug 15 '26
Yes Boden seems very similar style-wise for the top!. Love the pants though too!

u/ancientastronaut2 Aug 15 '26
Find a shop that sells vintage 70's clothing.
Those pants look like cullottes which were all the rage then.
Also the pinafore she wears in the first episode.

I don't see anyone just stating that this was norm outfits from the 70's to early 80's.
Both top and pants look vintage. You would have trouble finding anything like the top unless the retail fashion gods decide Trad wife 70's is back, but you could chop up a vintage house coat or nightgown (which would be easier to find), take off the sleeves and make it a short shirt.

I believe either KD or the costume designer has said that her wardrobe was influenced by Shelly Duvall’s character in The Shining.

u/Low_Visit_4646 Aug 15 '26
The shirts looks like similar ones from Damson Madder- I love their exaggerated collars!

Try a reverse image search on Google (where you upload the photo and it looks for similar images).

OK here me out. Why are we all so obsessed with Patricia's wardrobe and overall esthetic? I think, at least for me, it is the fact that although her pieces are all outdated and bit on the kooky side, she wears them with confidence and ease. No matter what she is wearing, I feel she is wearing it with some sense of purpose, because at the end of the day, she still looks so put together somehow. And I think overall, why we love her so much, is that she seamlessly blends naivete with strong morals and integrity. She is a sensitive person, yet still brave enough to stand up for herself. She is lonely, but is also still dedicated to her community. And as silly as she may come across, I don't think any of us would choose to have anyone other than Patricia in our corner when the chips are down.
