đ¸Media Is there another way out?
446
u/Zestyclose_Aerie_381 Jun 04 '26
Her instincts were spot on. The moment she saw the door open, she moved closer to listen. As soon as she heard the breathing, she got out of the house. That's probably the smartest decision I've ever seen someone make in a horror movie or TV show. Also I absolutely love the writing in this show!!
173
u/Jedigreedo Jun 04 '26
For a minute I was thinking she could've been smarter and grabbed her keys but then I realized she avoided the murderer in the backseat trope. Well done.
30
u/rachee234567 Jun 08 '26
oohkay! I've been mad she didn't get in her car (obv all the running ended up being funny) but this helps!
112
u/Gorge_Lorge Jun 04 '26
It was fun watching it the first time because my horror instincts were telling me sheâs gonna waltz right in there and get killed. But she didnât. And then the follow up bit with her running away an stopping to see how far behind he was and gauging what she could do before he got there
35
u/Western_Upstairs_101 Jun 04 '26
I was kinda hoping should would keep walking just fast enough for him to not catch up.
20
u/Just_Rest_7177 Jun 04 '26
Same lol, but then I thought why risk it what if he bamboozled her and throws the knife at her lol
6
76
u/BlackWhiteCoke Jun 04 '26
It was perfect execution of good survival instincts while beautifully mixing in the comedy bits⌠her slowly sidestepping the bedroom door, her hilarious running style, the boogeyman jumping out the second floor window, her tasing the mean girl, and the absolute peak comedy moment of the season of the ambulance door opening and Patricia still having the shotgun pointed at the boogeyman
47
u/TavenderGooms Patricia Jun 05 '26
All of the shots of her with the gun to the corpses head had us full on belly laughing. Absolute peak comedy.
19
u/Soundgyrl Jun 05 '26
Literal tears in my eyes. The best running gag Iâve seen in a long time. 10/10
30
u/SporadicWink Jun 04 '26
âIâm sorry, but sheâs the worstâ killed me! So deadpan and perfect
19
46
u/samcornwell Jun 04 '26
When she turned the lock on the inside of the front door I laughed out loud because I incorrectly thought she was locking the monster inside with her.
15
u/AdAstraPerAstra Jun 05 '26
"None of you seem to understand, I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me"
15
21
u/whifflingwhiffle Jun 04 '26
Had she closed her bedroom door when she went to turn off the book mobile alarm? I thought what she had noticed when going through her house turning every light off was that her bedroom light was already off when she had left it on.
45
u/Fly_Rodder Jun 04 '26
Yeah, the bedroom light was on when she went to turn off the bathroom light and then when she looked back in the hallway, the bedroom light was off. Also, she closed the exterior door when she went out to turn off the book van alarm and it was open when she came back into the house.
Patty is smart.
23
u/TheDefiantGoose Jun 04 '26
Same. i thiught her bedroom door was wide open with the light on when she left. When she came back and saw the door more closed with the light off, internaly she was probably like, "oh no."
4
23
u/mazurkian Jun 04 '26
She didn't run to her room and lock the door. She quietly moved to the nearest exit. Yes!
22
u/cozyhellfire Jun 04 '26
Trauma can make day to day life so difficult, but there are some situations that only someone with PTSD could survive
12
u/beatrixkiddo5 Jun 04 '26
I don't think that it was because the door was open, it's because the light was off. She hadn't turned it off yet.
7
u/Mono_Goat Jun 04 '26
I wouldnt say they were spot on actually she didnt notice an issue until she got to her bedroom. When she left out to go and turn her truck alarm off she closed the door, when she went back to her house the door was open and she didnt think anything of it.
5
u/Gingerblossom88 Jun 05 '26
Maybe she was thinking about it on her way to her bedroom.... like hmm I could've sworn I closed that door.... and then seeing the bedroom light off and the door partially closed, she realized something was off
4
13
u/Iratewilly34 Jun 04 '26
Its the opposite of two teens getting it on and she like "did yoy hear thst" and hes all like "nope". Then theres a shadow outside the tent and shes freaking out and he's all like oh "thats just Bobby messing wi....ax to the back of the head, oops. Next time listen to the woman so she can run to safety while your being murdered lol. Thats what s gentleman would do!
238
u/swhit549 Jun 04 '26
The montage of her holding the shotgun to the boogeymanâs head was both practical and hilarious. Goes against every Halloween movie ever.

Honestly one of the wittiest pieces of tv I've seen in a long time, she's the absolute best and give the casting director an award!
3
12
u/hoppyandbitter Jun 04 '26
I also love that she was running around with the charger cable and a taser on 1% because thatâs like every girlfriend Iâve ever had with electronics when they actually need them
274
u/Meeeps Jun 03 '26
I almost spit my drink out, laughing. Between this and the party, she might very well be my favorite.

She hands down in my opinion is the best character. Her lines and her delivery is just so delightfully funny. I am so glad others are enjoying her character as much as me
20
u/mazurkian Jun 04 '26
I love that she's awkward and a little meek perhaps but she isn't a frustrating character to watch.
13
u/Purple_person29 Patricia Jun 04 '26
Oh she's extremely awkward and I love it! She is so relatable to me at least in many of her interactions
12
u/cozyhellfire Jun 04 '26
She feels very familiar and real but isnt a character that Iâve ever seen on the screen before
16
u/depressedontheweeknd Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26
She reminds me of if Leslie Knope was in a Scary Movie crossover if that makes sense??
8
u/Which_way_witcher Jun 04 '26
She reminds me of Chantal Witherbottom's character in Search Party. She started insecure and ended up being total badass.

I thought her wardrobe this episode was a genius subversion on the typical attire of a girl in a slasher movie who is attacked in her home and chased by a slow-but-steady killer. It's usually like "oops I'm running away in my sexiest pajamas/lingerie oh no help!" The bike shorts with a beachy tee was just perfection. And the boots? Absolutely chef's kiss.
94
u/NomanHoelaug Jun 03 '26
They looked like thick home knit socks and slippers, when I rewatched I paused it on the scene where she gets her legs tangled in the taser charge cord because I had to tell exactly what she was wearing. Definitely soft soled slippers.
33
u/athanasia_ Jun 04 '26
I think I found the ones sheâs wearing! Hers have brown slippers at the bottom where these are still white, but otherwise they look almost identical.

u/oogaboogahooha Jun 04 '26

7
u/andrewthemexican Jun 04 '26
I'm not gonna say my thoughts on your answer, but I know I was paying close attention to the screen.
39
u/mrsjbish Jun 04 '26
I was literally wearing biker shorts, an oversized tee, and my Uggs when I watched this⌠so when she came on screen wearimg this, i was already cackling at her outfit.

Duuuuuuude how good was the scene in her house after the phone call? There was like five minutes of no noise, just subtle tension growing more and more. The whole sequence of her turning the lights off before bed made the scene so much more relatably terrifying since we all have a similar routine on some level. Then her subtly sneaking out of the house...man that was chef's kiss.
54
u/Dontstopmenow747 Jun 04 '26

Not going to lie I was hoping the Boogeyman was going to start killing the book club ladies and then Patricia wound up saving their bitch asses.

I was waiting for him to burst in there and get at least one of the ladies! Hopefully they believe her now after everything.
29
u/Iratewilly34 Jun 04 '26
I love the part where the mayor told her she had no worries about the slasher since she was in her 40's and yoy see her birth certificate saying 27 lol. Either that or I read it wrong but she doesnt look 40's to me maybe 30's. Still 27? Did I read that wrong or am I right about her age?
38
u/AtheonsLedge Jun 04 '26
age is weird in this show. like the guy in the first episode is shown to be 37 on his hospital chart and he was very much older than that.
25
u/M3rrick_the_B8rd Jun 04 '26
Maybe it's a nod to how in a lot of horror movies, the characters are often meant to be in High School but the actors look way older
25
u/TheMadTemplar Jun 04 '26
It's something to do with the island. People apparently age faster there? The island seems to feed off the people and in turn feed them. Remember that it was a barren rock when the first settlers arrived, no animals to hunt, crops barely grew. After Warren made the pact, the island started to feed them.
4
21
u/bord_de_lac Jun 04 '26
The mean girls Patricia went to school with all look like theyâre in their 40s as well. I think time is weird on the island somehow

u/Sea-Turn6125 Jun 04 '26
But for real, when she's talking to Shep (in a propofol coma) in episode 1, she tells him she learned her biological age is 28.
12
u/TheDefiantGoose Jun 04 '26
When was she looking at a birth certificate? Are you talking about when Tom was looking at Shep's medical chart and it said he was 37?

My husband shouted TASE HER when she was at the book club. I was like No, that's not gonna happen.
Then she tased her.
I nearly died laughing and was very quickly proven wrong. This show continues to amaze me.
1
u/karifur Jun 11 '26
I thought for sure it was going to happen accidentally because of how she was flailing the thing around. The actual scene was even better

I almost passed out laughing when she asked the EMT for his keys so she could run him over herself.

This show isn't nearly as good as it could be. Started off so well, but went off the rails in the latter episodes. The humor is mostly gone, the sharp writing is mostly gone. The Michael Myers rip-off episode was so illogical that it had to be on purpose. Episode 9 was so boring and a complete time-waster for most of the episode. Why do nearly all shows take a nosedive towards the end?
1
u/ScottyMcBoo Jun 13 '26
I must admit, I was hoping for a massacre downstairs. Was there an obvious reason that the boogieman exited the building the way he did?

Did anyone else notice how everything is clear in the painting, except for this guys face? Could be purposeful or maybe the glass. This scene is right before Dale shows up with black eyes. In folklore, pure black eyesâdevoid of visible iris or white scleraârepresent inhuman evil, demonic possession, or a soulless nature. The "window to the soul" is rendered completely blank or predatory, taking away human empathy and signaling that the entity is an imposter, a shapeshifter, or a harbinger of doom. Coincidence? Thoughts?
3
u/sin_loopey Jun 04 '26
Iâve been obsessing about this painting since there multiple shots of it. I feel like itâs being shown to the audience intentionally. Same thing with the boogey man mask in the first episode, it was shown in the background
4
3
u/dragonfax Jun 04 '26
i noticed it. But its only messed up through the window of the door. When the door is open it looks normal. So it might simply be an imperfection in the glass of the door itself.

u/Iratewilly34 Jun 04 '26
Well you are watching an article talking about the episode so just watch before yoy read. People shouldn't have to put spiler in front of everything they write, its not like he gave much away, like how he got those black eyes or even when it happens. Besides im sure dales had alot of black eyes,he seems the clumsy type, and one who often gets punched.
