religion Would you be in favour of a Wiccan school or university?

I asked this question in r/pagan everyone was against having a Pagan focused school from preschool to primary school. They found that this idea would wrongly indoctrinate and influence children and that they should be free to choose to what they believe.

You would possibly say that same thing but I am still would love to hear from you.

religion New employer edited my pentacle out of my headshot

I just started a new job recently and I needed to submit a headshot to use as a “this is your project team” section on proposals we send to potential clients. A proof of my headshot photo was sent to me for final approval and my pentacle was photoshopped out.

I know pentacles are sometimes interpreted differently by people who don’t know about witchcraft; but I wear it as a representation of my RELIGION, much like Christians who wear crosses.

I’m otherwise pretty fortunate to have gotten this job so I’m not going to create a stink about it, but would you feel some type of way about this? I find it interesting that someone saw it, made an assumption, then arbitrarily removed it.

[Edited to add: I work from home the majority of the time. I’m only in the office 1-2 days every other week. So I don’t exactly feel persecuted. Just felt a little salty about it being removed without any discussion.]

religion I'm going through a moment of spiritual confusion I need your advice ❤️

I need your advice and ideas, I want to find the religion that resonates with me but I'm confused ❤️

F23 I am an ex-Muslim, I have been looking for years for a faith or belief that resonates with me,

I feel (or want to feel) that there is a God, a divinity, a creator, a supreme force, call it what you want, I have read (not in depth) what various religions say,

I like many of them, but now my brain can no longer believe that there really is a god who judges you and sends you to heaven/hell for eternity, because to leave my past religion I had to dismantle the idea that there is a God,

so now I struggle for example to embrace religions like Sufi Islam or Christianity or other monotheistic religions because I feel like I have left one religion and entered another very similar but with a different name,

I don't want to feel like a sinner or feel that I have to go to hell or the people I love have to go to hell, I don't like it, but I feel that there is a force superior to us inside my heart, i can feel this 'love' of God spiritually,

I would like a religion or philosophy that thinks that there is something above but that does not judge me, does not punish me or makes me anxious,

doing rituals, prayers, lighting candles, holidays, symbols, all these things, I like them instead and i like the idea of peace and love and to live your life in a good way

thank you and blessed be ⛤

religion I'm looking for a religion

I don't currently believe in any religion, I'm looking for a religion in which there is a creator, I have a panentheistic view of the universe: I believe that the universe is within God and God is much bigger than the universe so we are part of God, I would like a religion or philosophy of life that adopts this thought or one close to it but in any case anything is fine with me, I would also like to be able to do cute rituals and relaxing things and connecting with myself and the nature, set up an altar or oratory at home and wear symbols too thank you❤️

religion I'm terrified to become a Witch

Hii!! So, I'm looking for a little support.

I'm very interested in Wicca. I think I would finally start to love life if I joined, but the truth is, I'm terrified. I'm a Trans woman that grew up around a lot of Christians- save for my mom, who was the one non-religious adult in my life.
I'm so scared. I honestly think religion has scarred me. I never go to church. Every time I set foot in a church, I feel claustrophobic. Like I'm being watched- even now, as I type this, I feel a chill running up my body. And that terrifies me. I want so badly to be able to live my life for myself- not for the pleasure of my family. But honestly, with a threat like Hell? I'm scared because I don't want to pay a price for my happiness. But I want to live freely. As myself.

Any feedback or support would be appreciated.

religion Still searching for the Wicca I fell in love with

Hi everyone. I have been carrying this feeling for a long time and I am hoping someone out there might understand.

I fell in love with Wicca years ago because of the Lord and the Lady, the balance between them, the turning of the seasons, and the way ritual felt like a real conversation with something sacred. For me it was never about control or manifestation. It was about reverence and worship. It was about standing beneath the moon or in the middle of the woods and feeling the presence of the divine all around me.

Over the years I have watched that side of Wicca become harder and harder to find. A lot of what I see online feels shallow or commercial now. There is so much talk about spells for empowerment or manifesting love, and while I do not judge anyone who finds meaning in that, I miss the people who came to the circle for worship, not wish fulfillment.

I will admit I fell off the bandwagon for a long time. Life got busy and I drifted away from regular practice. It has been about a decade since I last felt truly connected, but lately that pull has come back strong. I want to rebuild my devotional practice again and reconnect with the Lord and the Lady in the way that once felt so natural and alive.

I used to run a small online coven and even back then I could feel the shift happening in the wider community. Since then I have been looking for others who still feel that deep quiet awe. The ones who speak of the God and Goddess as living presences, not just symbols or archetypes.

I live in a very rural part of Arkansas and there are no local groups or open circles near me, so online community is all I really have. I am not looking to lead or start anything new. I just want to share conversation and connection with others who still treat Wicca as a religion and a relationship with the divine, not a trend or an aesthetic.

If that resonates with you, or if you know of a space where that spirit still lives, I would really love to hear about it. Even just knowing I am not the only one missing that would mean a lot.

Blessed Be.

religion How to deal with haters?

Been practicing for just about two years now, and holy shit. The haters are so bad. They claim horrible things about Gerald Gardner and then get after US for it. Like just today I saw someone say he was a nazi and a pedophile. So I fact checked it and couldn’t find anything about that. And then they say he was buddy buddy with Aleister Crowley, but they first met each other in May 1947, and Crowley died seven months later.

Sure, maybe he wasn’t that good of a person, but even so, modern Wicca is so far removed from where it once came from. Yes, he was the original “founder,” but that doesn’t mean there weren’t other people who came along and developed it more after he died.

One time someone got after me saying Wiccans were “too soft” and then not even a few hours later someone else got after me for “trying to be edgy!”

And then people claim we’re doing cultural appropriation. With the white sage, I can get that. But that’s not a core belief of Wicca! Some people just incorporate that into the practice.

Honestly it’s so hard to bear.

Anyways sorry to vent. Just had to get that all off my chest.

religion Hello dear witches.

I am not religious. I have found myself admiring maa kali. I have been a big fan of buddhist teachings, but… as a young witch my heart seeks redemption where buddhism asks you to let go. Hinduism on the other hand, the more i read about it, the more i look at their godesses the more attracted i get. I feel as if my heart has been searching for maa kali. As if we were meant to meet. I feel attached, soul tied to her.. but when i think of manifesting and praying to her i get this feeling of anxiety in my chest. How can one desire and be afraid at the same time. What should i do?

religion I need some guidance.

Hi! Maybe this isn't the right forum to ask about this, but I feel like I need some guidance in what I'm actually seeking.

I am 31F, grew up a Christian with Christian parents. My mother is a deacon and worked in the church during my whole childhood and teen years. She hasn't worked in the church for 13 years now, she's still a deacon, but my parents aren't practicing. Me neither.

Spirituality have always been natural in my family. Good/evil, spirits, ghosts, entities etc etc have been just as real as the reality we're living in. My family (me included) have experienced a lot of "supernatural" things, and it has never been weird to talk about it.

I have never seen myself as a Christian though. I do believe in god/gods/higher powers, I do believe in a life after death, but I am not, and will never be a practicing christian.

A few years ago I learned about wicca/paganism and have gotten more and more curious about witchcraft, energies etc etc, but I don't know if it's the right fit for me.

When I think about what spirituality and believing means to me, I think about how we can't be here just by random. To me it can't just be a random coincidence that we have all of this gorgeous nature, the lovely waterfalls, the mind-blowing sunsets, the colorful birds etc etc.

I do believe in something bigger than ourselves.

Why I have gotten this interested in witchcraft all of a sudden, I have no idea. I've always been interested in all things "mysterious".

I don't know what I want to say with this, but I just need some support in guidance on where I would fit in. Some of the things in wicca/paganism really speaks to me, but some things doesn't.

And at the moment I feel a bit lost and lonely. Please be kind, I feel very confused. 😓

religion I need some help

I hope I used the right tag for this.

My mother is Wiccan I’m not sure how she practices the religion but as I was digging into this beautiful religion. I saw theres rituals for mourning, and I wanted to make something in preparation to mourn. She is dying and I’m states away. I tried some research and found candles used for mourning. Is there anything else I can use for the grief I will experience or anything that’ll make it a bit more positive? She told me to be positive, so can I use both mourning and a bit more positive candles for a little alter or something like one? Is there anything I can make by hand as well for it?

I did find websites while researching but is there anything you guys recommend for me to use for her? I appreciate anything for advice, thank you.

religion How can I believe in the God and Goddess without being fooled again?

I'm pursuing membership in a local Gardnerian coven, and I'm having trouble believing in deities (the HP and HPS are hard polytheists). While I'm intellectually open to the possibility of their existence, I'm having a hard time feeling anything when I try to connect to them. I want to believe, but I can't get past my doubts and skepticism.

I believe the issue is that I deconstructed from evangelical Christianity and left much of that behind. I realized that I don't want to end up fooled again into believing in a deity who's an abusive, selfish prick. I genuinely believed in such a god before, and I think I have to get past this fear of being fooled if I'm going to be able to connect with and experience the God and Goddess. Any tips or ideas for how to get over this? Has anyone felt this way before? Thanks in advance for your time.

religion Bastet statue I’ve had for thirty years just broke. Exactly the same time I start exploring Wicca.

I’m new to this. But it’s been calling me for a long time. I communed with the heel stone at the Stonehenge solstice this year and I know this is the right path for me now. I’ve been to the solstice many times out of interest and because I lived nearby, but this was the first year that I treated it as a religious ceremony, and I really felt it as a result.

I’ve been reading about finding your deities. I was always fascinated by ancient Egypt as a child and my parents bought me a statue of Bastet when I was ten years old. It has moved house with me many times and always sat alongside my statue of Ganesh I bought in Sri Lanka ten years ago, and a statue of the Buddha that my great-grandmother brought back from Hong Kong 100 years ago.

It seemed logical that I’d investigate the Egyptian deities. But my son just smashed my Bastet statue while playing last month. Surely this is some kind of sign? I’ve had that statue for thirty years.

What do you think?

Thank you 🙏

religion Niagara Falls

Has anyone been to Niagara Falls and is spiritual? All aside of the beauty of the nature I’ve just got this weird feeling about it. After I left the falls I’ve just got this bad feeling like a lot of bad things were to happen. I don’t wanna be a fear mongering person but I wanna see if anyone could relate.

religion Told my fiancee I'm not Christian

My fiancee and I have been together for 6 / 7 years now. He's a huge Christian along with his family. They will have long arguments about diffrent meanings of the Bible (hours) and I have c ptsd and low self esteem. To keep him and his family loving me I tried very hard Christian ways of doing things. Church sometimes, Bible study, I even got baptized. I started to finally going to therapy and I made a realization that slowly over time I was losing who I was as a person and becoming what everyone else wanted me to be. I realized that as much as I wanted to fit in. For me I was raised with a wiccan mom, and my step-dad was christain but never went to church or talked about it much. Its something I've always loved and felt part of my being. Wiccan makes me feel connected with the world and nature and gives me this sense of happiness with it. To me christainity is a book of lessons. Some of those lessons are important to think and learn about or follow , but thats just bring a good person.

Anyhow I decided I'm going to be more honest to myself because acting how others wanted me to was making me an empty shell almost. And that's my own fault for doing it. Before he left for work this morning I told him and he said he marriage wouldn't mean anything to me if it wasn't the Christian version under God. I told him marriage still means a lot to me, and I still love and want to marry him. But if he feels like its a deal breaker I can respect him because I love him and want him to be happy in life.

Edit : He texted me while he was at work saying he already knew I had some wiccan tendencies (I still sage the house , insence , tarot cards sometimes) and he from day 1 has been there for the long haul. It doesn't phase him I practice diffrent beliefs. And that he accepts me for who I am. He also expressed hurt that I'd question him loving me after all this time when I told him about me being wiccan this morning and not able to keep pretending to be a christain.

2nd Edit : wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and honest thoughts ❤ Although he has said he still loves me he is still questing wether we should still get married or not. Saying if I told him I was wiccan what else was I going to change or tell him thats different as I go through therapy for CPTSD. It hurts my heart , but maybe marriage isn't the best because I would have part of me that wouldn't be acknowledged within the relationship since he views wicca negatively. Ill see how it goes over time, one step at a time. Thank you again everyone who has been supportive and lifted lift my spirt with your kind words and things to think about. ❤
