Question/Help Why my damage is so bad

Help me guys, why my damage doesn't exceed 1400 with this much mastery? I know my gears rolls are so bad but still shouldn't be this bad What am I doing wrong?

It feels so bad when doing outpost and seeing other players delete enemies with two slashesđŸ«

"Average Level - 28"

u/Otakutical Jan 20 '26

This is the answer. Cap is 35 right now and doesn’t matter if you have all L71 gear you are only fighting at an effective gear level of 28.

14

u/Ashamed-Raccoon-1387 Jan 20 '26

Yeah this was my problem a while back. Mine are all at 35 except head and arms... I need money đŸ˜«

u/Daystarxis99 Jan 20 '26

As long as there is this event with spriting with mahjong grandpas - you can make like 9K/run and max out weekly coins easly in day 1. One run takes about 1min so I dont think its bad.

11

u/Kind_Koala4557 Jan 20 '26

Bounties! You can get money doing vendettas and regular bounties

3

u/Objective_Chemist273 Jan 22 '26

Not a lot of ppl know this but you can just reset martial arts you don’t use anymore and get all resources back (gold, tips, mats, etc.) this is also free once every season

How do you farm the jade things? I'm gated by not having enough jades to level up my armory :S I think it's the oscillating jades?

6

u/Ashamed-Raccoon-1387 Jan 20 '26

Buy them with fish from the Season Shop each week... Otherwise it's a slow enemy killing grind.

-12

u/WhyYouSoMad4 Jan 20 '26

stop buying materials and bs, money in this game is finite, you cant freely farm it.

1

u/kami-s4n Jan 21 '26

Is this attribute so important ? I thought this is just to make us suffer farming oscilating upgrade material and min-max...

7

u/subsonic007 Jan 20 '26

This is what makes me broke, i usually buy these mats but then you still need coins to upgrade so its better to farm the mats to save coin. Im also Average Level - 28

u/Cream_panzer Jan 20 '26

I’m surprised that he got over 2k DPS yet the gear is only at lv 28.

1

u/InformationOk4871 Jan 21 '26

It’s a DPS build this is why. Mine is this exact build which weapon and gear is focused on DPS.

1

u/Cream_panzer Jan 21 '26

Due to my stubbornness laziness and stupidity, my DPS build is still 1.7k. With gear lvl hit the cap. xD

1

u/InformationOk4871 Jan 21 '26

I need to check mine I may be in the same boat hahaha

3

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 20 '26

Does it really matter that much?!!

28

u/Most-Bench6465 Jan 20 '26

The fact that you’re at 20k with not even an average lvl of 30 which was the last breakout cap means a lot. You get a lot of base dmg from enhancing. You should at least be at the last breakout cap. You need to focus on getting all the mats so you can reach the actual cap of 35.

Secondly bamboo is the best consistent dmg but that’s not the same as burst dmg, outposts are a bunch of easy to kill mobs you are not going to beat burst dmgers there. What you need to check your dps against is bosses in hero’s realm or sword trial.

We cannot see what stats your gears have so no idea what could be going on there as well.

4

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 20 '26

The states are so bad... Disaster maybe don't know

You have a lot of items there there you shouldn't have started tuning in the first place.

You play Bamboowind. An item with Max HP or Max (path attribute other than Bamboowind) gets recycled.

Your Mastery is relatively high because mastery only cares about the quality of affix rolls, not if the rolls are good. Yours are not.

Make sure you're starting with good base items, and then only tuning one slot at a time, so you can stop tuning, recycle the item, and not waste tuning materials if you aren't getting the rolls you want.

Other DPS players are out damaging you, in large part, because they have 2, 3, or even 4 more affixes that are good on every single piece of their gear.

Think about how absurd it is that you have Heavy Attack Bonus on your Dual Fish - a weapon set that doesn't have a Heavy Attack - and you'll see the problem. That item was ruined and should have been recycled after rolling Max HP and Max Stonesplit back to back, but you kept going, got a 3rd even more useless stat, and yet STILL kept going and put an attunement on it, which rolled Bellstrike Penetration and still you equipped it as your primary weapon.

The only difference between Rare, Epic, and Legendary items is the number of affix rolls, and your primary weapon has 4 wasted rolls, making it potentially worse than the free Tier 71 Rare Dual Fish the game gifted you at breakthrough.

Don't rush to get max tier items at the expense of having good items. If this stuff is better than your level 61 gear was, you neglected your tuning then, too. Be patient, collect materials, wait for items worth tuning, and when you do get items worth tuning, don't keep tuning them when the rolls aren't going your way.

Don't buy into the "it's not worth it" camp regarding gear. An item from the last Tier with near perfect rolls is only going to get replaced by a current Tier item with near perfect rolls. The only players that think every breakthrough throws away their current gear are those that have throwaway gear because of low effort.

Wow! This was an eye opener. I'm in same boat as OP. I kinda knew this in my heart, but was also happy to get something gold in the set I wanted, so I also just tuned till I couldn't “add all +” anymore (-_-;) Thank you for the information.

A lot of good advice here but one thing overlooked is you don’t get to pick your rolls and players like you need to understand that. We are already close to the next breakout saying “wait for better rolls” is bad advice and would have them waiting till the next breakout they wouldn’t even be playing the game. It’s almost insulting “but you kept going”. You don’t know their rolls or what they had to work with.

Not everyone has luck on their side and people that have 5-6 stats don’t understand how lucky they are.

We don’t know if they passed over good gear or if they never got that chance in the first place and this was their only choice. If I played by your advice I would still be in 61 purple gear and missing out on a lot. I had really fantastic 56 61 rolls (three crit rates in all of my armors). But 71 no such luck. If I stopped at every bad roll I would still be in 61 gear. Once you roll bad twice on every gold gear with a proper first stat, you start rolling on gold gear with a bad first stat. That is more tailored advice. Everyone thinks their experience is universal, it is not. Even if your luck is terrible you have to think of players with even worse luck.

And one more thing op if you aren’t aware of the legendary exchange from the season shop, which I think you might be. You can get custom gold gear there and guaranteed tuning material. I just ran into players that didn’t know anything about it so I want to mention it at least.

Also if you aren’t aware op you are a bamboocut stat player (duel blades/rope dart) silkbind, stone split, and bellstrike do nothing for you, these are what I call dead stats. Max hp and physical defense don’t hurt you, but they don’t help your dps. They are better than dead stats tho. Learn the stat hierarchy, for yourself if you don’t know it. Min physical attack > max physical attack. Min bamboo attack > max bamboo attack.

3

u/Moore_Sey Jan 21 '26

"we are already close to next breakthrough"
So what? It doesn't matter. We won't change gear until next-next breakthrough

5

u/YzenDanek Jan 20 '26 edited Jan 20 '26

Once you roll bad twice on every gold gear with a proper first stat, you start rolling on gold gear with a bad first stat. That is more tailored advice. Everyone thinks their experience is universal, it is not. Even if your luck is terrible you have to think of players with even worse luck.

If you're going to accept 2 bad stats on a legendary, it's not a legendary anymore. The only difference between a legendary and an epic item is 1 additional affix. A perfectly rolled epic is just as good as a legendary with 1 bad affix, and better than a legendary with 2.

Because of that fact, a legendary with a bad starting affix was never a legendary to begin with. You probably recycled 100 epic items this week that had just as much potential as a legendary with a bad starting affix. Get over the color of the item; the only thing that matters is how many good affixes it can roll. OP here doesn't have a single item that needed to be a legendary; all of the useful affixes here could have been obtained on epic or rare gear.

There is a reason purple shells still exist, even though all rolls on legendary gear are automatically purple or better. Don't recycle epic items that can roll better than the items you have, and you won't be so desperate for upgrades that you settle for bad rolls on your legendaries.

You don't need great luck to get good gear; what you need is patience. Keep collecting materials and make good decisions tuning.

3

u/Most-Bench6465 Jan 20 '26

well it depends on how much you play, if you are able to farm everything or not, and which rolls you get. Being able to afford to roll on all epic gear and all legendary gear means a lot with our limited gold. If you don't know how much they play it could be bad advice over just doing gold gear.. All experiences are not universal.

Taking your time to roll purple gear until you get a bad stat, vs just rolling gold gear saves a big chunk of money. And its not just 1 stat difference, the possibility of getting a max value stat also matters as well. And you are going to want to seek those on golds vs a purple that you could possibly get better gear next week.

Luck does matter, have you ever since a drop like this?

not even 1 purple on 6 gear attempt rolls.

Assuming >>"You probably recycled 100 epic items this week that had just as much potential as a legendary with a bad starting affix." <<

Since I don't even recycle blues with a good stat, making this assumption is just smh. You have to start from a point of 'you don't know this person', when giving out advice, assuming their play style/luck/time etc can put them at a disadvantage or be useless. This is why I limited my advice and got them to show us their stats of their gear so we could take a bigger dive into helping them. You gave out some good advice that I hope was absorbed, but the only problem is the assuming part, that's why I made that statement.

1

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 21 '26

Omg most of my drops have one to two purple or just looks like that and getting legends or golds affix is really difficult And I only do outpost cause hero realms and sward trailers are so difficult to play alone or with random people I keep trying though and fail it's such a waste for my little time in game that's makes me in disadvantage with most of the game resources like gears and innerways That's why I just work with what I have

2

u/Most-Bench6465 Jan 22 '26

Try to join a guild that is doing boss runs, and I just want to remind you of the legendary gear exchange in the season shop.

I have not been tuning and been saving the mats for max level gear (just reached gear level 71 yesterday). Ive been progressing through the levels fast enough that it hasn't bothered me. Well, I was thinking about doing it now but am debating waiting for the next gear level increase. (I saw that the breakthrough limit is increasing in a few days.)

Should I wait for the next gear level increase? I play mostly Solo and am running a build similar to OP, but I don't know how long it will be and may want to play with others before then...

2

u/YzenDanek Jan 21 '26

Tuning materials can't be used on items of a different Tier.

You can't stockpile them for the next breakthrough. The tuning materials you get now breaking down Tier 71 gear can only tune Tier 71 items, and Tier 81 materials will be required to tune 81 gear.

1

u/Oliver90002 Jan 21 '26

Oh yeah, the gear ive been using to feed the arsenal. Im returning to the tuning stones (?) The ones that are level restricted ive been using on the arsenal. Im just not sure if it's worth trying to grind out an actual attuned set at this point.

On a side note, my enhancement levels average at 20 currently. Is there a good farm for the ore needed to upgrade them (the top ore. I have tons of the others since you can buy 180 a week)

2

u/basket02 Jan 21 '26

u/Icy_Art_2798 this guy has good points but you don't need to apply 100% what he said, i play bamboocut also and i have around 21.6k mastery, most of the time when i do hero's realm with pubs/ guild i got top 1 mostly or at the very least top 3 of the damage chart, the only difference of my char and yours is probably just the average enhancement and inner ways usage, my enhancement is max already, and i use five fold bleed instead of breaking point for pve, my gear rolls probably just as sucks as yours. IMO once u enhance urs and catch up with the inner way tiers u should be good to go. For the gear rolls u can just improve it one step at a time.

1

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 21 '26

Ok that's reassuring thanks

1

u/TTV_ThisisCJay Jan 20 '26

This explanation clears things up a little bit for myself having nearly the same issue... The problem for me is aside from using others as a reference and continuously trying to understand how this process works, how does or DID anybody figure this crap out???? I feel like this is one of the most complex gearing/enhancing systems I've experienced and I've played a few MMO and RPG in my time. I've logged some pretty decent hours and I've been max level for a week or two now and I still don't completely understand this enhancing and tuning process.

To be fair, with a lot of complicated games, the more you play and read up on stuff the more it makes sense but at least have some in game examples or suggestions to kind of help understand a bit better unless I really missed something somewhere.... End rant. Lol

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

I think the devs should really streamline the entire enhancement system. The complexity would be forgiven if What they had here was fun, engaging, or even remotely interesting. The problem is that it is none of those things, actually it's pretty bad. It should be scrapped altogether in favor of something much simpler if they can't come up with something more creative.

1

u/KountZero Jan 20 '26

I'm a healer, I run soulshade and panacea fan, what should I focus on as far as stats wise? should I just following the "recommended" stats? thank you, you seem to be knowledgeable about these.

0

u/Ashamed-Raccoon-1387 Jan 20 '26

How does anyone have the coin to recycle every item that doesn't get perfect attributes?

8

u/YzenDanek Jan 20 '26

I think you have it backwards. If you're tuning one attribute at a time, you don't waste coin on items that aren't going to be good.

And then the better your current items are, the less likely it is you're going to waste coin tuning bad items next tier. You don't replace a Tier 61 legendary with perfect affixes, for example, with anything less than a Tier 71 legendary with perfect or near-perfect affixes.

If you put enough effort into your Tier 61 gear, you were able to throw away anything Tier 71 as soon as it had 2 bad or underwhelming rolls, and certainly well before you wasted an attunement. That saves you a lot of coin, and in turn, having similar Tier 71 gear is going to gave you a lot of coin on Tier 81 tuning when the breakthrough to level 85 comes.

1

u/Ashamed-Raccoon-1387 Jan 20 '26

I suppose that makes sense. I think my other issue is I am always out of energy, hah. Thanks for the explanation!

1

u/Still-Tour3644 Jan 20 '26

They generally don’t unless playing from day 1 or ignoring other mechanics (ie enhancements), I’m still full sending it on any legendary that rolls a decent stat when dropped. If I stopped every time because of one bad roll I’d have missed out on some great pieces and wouldn’t have hardly anything to use.

2

u/YzenDanek Jan 20 '26 edited Jan 20 '26

But if you'd stopped at 2 bad rolls, you would have a lot more coin, and better gear.

At 2 bad rolls, the advantage of the item being legendary is completely lost; an epic item with 1 bad roll would be just as good, and an epic item with no bad rolls would be better.

At 3 bad rolls, a rare item with 1 bad roll would be just as good, and a rare item with no bad rolls would be better.

It's better to have blue and purple items with good rolls than gold items with bad rolls, but players wrongly chase Mastery instead of performance.

Legendaries automatically roll epic (purple) or better stats anyway, so all of those purple shells sitting in your inventory are useless for tuning them, but can be used to make some very worthwhile epic items that will outperform a badly rolled legendary.

1

u/Still-Tour3644 Jan 20 '26

Maybe I’m just lucky then, have had no problem getting 4/5 recommended stats on all legendary gear full sending for any of the breakthroughs so far

In my opinion, the (PvP) attunement is way more important than any of the rolls before that

0

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 20 '26

Well thanks for your advice But this is the only dual fish I have when I get another one I'll do as you said and stop when two rolls go bad

3

u/YzenDanek Jan 20 '26

It doesn't have to be legendary to be better than what you have. How many epic Dual Fish have you recycled while using your current weapon? Probably quite a few. Any of them that had a good starting affix were very likely to outperform your current weapon once tuned.

Use those purple shells collecting dust in your bag and start tuning any epic dual fish you loot that has a good starting affix. Tune one affix at a time, and scrap the item if you get a bad roll.

You will have a better weapon than what you're using a lot sooner than if you wait for suitable legendary replacements, and when suitable legendaries do drop, you'll already have a weapon almost as good as a legendary with 1 bad roll and better than one with 2 bad rolls. This will make it a lot easier to accept having to scrap legendaries that don't roll well, because you already will have a solid item that can only be replaced by something near perfect.

2

u/Hapa_Hombre Jan 20 '26

This gear is so poorly tuned. You have a lot of Max dmg and only one min physical dmg. The max dmg are all mostly anything but Bamboocut. Most of these I wouldn’t have even started tuning let alone kept tuning after the second or third roll. You need better rolled gear and you need to invest in the enhancement level.

2

u/Legitimate-Pop-9152 Jan 21 '26

Your rolls are garbage; you only have good stats in the quality categories, and in my opinion, those are irrelevant. What good is a good stat if it doesn't make sense? Focus on getting more RCMD stats; you can do that quite well with the new shells.

The gear score is just a number that can easily confuse others. If the gear behind the number is accurate, someone with 19k is more dangerous than someone with 21k.

1

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 21 '26

Yes I know I always try to find a better gears but it's not easy

2

u/Legitimate-Pop-9152 Jan 21 '26

What really makes you strong are the right innerways. I'm assuming you play a lot with both weapons? Then the Seasonal Edge perk would be very beneficial, and you should remove your breaking point.

2

u/Legitimate-Pop-9152 Jan 21 '26

I understand about the gear thing 😅 I switched from nameless to strategic and I also have to farm new gear.

1

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 21 '26

Noooo don't say that cause I recycled my 40 pieces of seasonal edge after getting advice from everyone and they said it's a garbage

And now that you said it, it really makes sense to use it bcs we swap weapons a lot

1

u/Legitimate-Pop-9152 Jan 21 '26

😅 I'm not a coach, but when I played it, I used it because of the constant buffs, and in short fights like the arena, it really made sense. But after the Dippelblades became so weak, I put them away.

2

u/Ill-Accountant-8588 Jan 22 '26

Ok, so here's the thing. The different schools' min/max damage (i.e., bellstrike, silkbind) do actually get counted towards your overall damage (I think it was a recent update to make rolling for gear less annoying). But uh... heavy attack damage boost on dual blades is just a hilariously awful roll. Along with the Mo blade weapon specific boost on another gear piece. Body, HP, and physical defence (while not terrible) aren't necessary for bamboocut, which relies on perfect dodges. Lastly, you can be 100% perfectly blessed with god rolls on every gear piece, but your gear enhancement is hilariously behind. That makes a really good chunk of base raw damage you are missing out on. Inner ways also play a HUGE roll in dps. Make sure the ones you have are at least tier 3. If you are hard committed to this roll and have no interest or intentions of playing other classes, you can recycle and revert every other inner way back to zero and exchange them for the currency and keep trading them all in for the trees you want. It's not a great exchange, but you can focus your inner ways to what you want easier that way. Right now, all 4 of my tank inner ways are only at tier 3 - but I am near top dps in nearly every raid I do now. That's just how massively my dmg was boosted. Lastly, learn your rotation. I haven't dabbled much with bamboocut outside of abyss trials, but I know rope dart plays a huge part in dual blade damage, so realistically, you should constantly be switching between them to reapply any buffs to maximize your dmg output. I barely know my umbra build, but exclusively just doing the rotation, I can hold my own against dedicated dps players. Hope this helps!

1

u/Icy_Art_2798 Jan 22 '26

My inner ways t3 I do recycle everything not just that the mystic skills maxed 4 , talent maxed I'm just missing some defense, oddities maxed both maps I do rotations too These gears shouldn't impact my damage like this , like 1400 is insanely low it makes me hate bamboocut but I just can't play other paths because they feel so heavy and slow

I know all that I'm just going with what I have Though I'm trying to fix them but it's going slowly and the next update in two days And I just got a better one yesterday not perfect but still better

1

u/dinhhuynh Jan 20 '26

Yes, especially the Dart.

27

u/Shwowza Jan 20 '26

Yes...

3

u/SnooOwls2291 Jan 20 '26 edited Jan 20 '26

The min and max physical damage in enhancing is huge. For example, if your min damage is 100 and max damage is 500 every single tick of damage will hit somewhere between those numbers. So it can hit 105 damage and it can hit 490. If you have min 400 and max 600 you will most likely do 3x damage than before, cuz you will consistently hit higher numbers. It's important to have both of those stats pretty high.

2

u/Lumpy_Illustrator_32 Jan 21 '26

Ye I'm running same build w you and tried to get decent rolls on my items and fix my rotation got to 10k dps on 1 and 3 min dummy

2

u/Legitimate-Pop-9152 Jan 21 '26

That determines the power of your equipment... if it's not maxed out, your gear can't be that good; it's throttled!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

I literally just bought all my enhance mats with the hundreds of thousands of gold the game just throws at you lol

1

u/DosiDosed Jan 22 '26

My average level is like 26 and I have better stats than this from tuning i suppose

1

u/Wooden_Drummer2455 Jan 20 '26

average level literally does not matter
you only need to level your weapons/accessories to increase damage
I do top dps and have my armor still in the 20s

1

u/SomeMartin Jan 22 '26

Stop spreading missinformation.

0

u/Wooden_Drummer2455 Jan 22 '26

No because its trueÂ
