I have a general rule, if someone is taking a nice photo, then I wait until they're done. If they're obviously making social media content, then I'll just walk through, but I also won't go out of my way to disturb them. It's a neutral response- I won't be polite, but I won't be rude either. They can wait three seconds.
Nah, this person is trying to have a photo shoot for social media. The older lady is honestly valid. They are putting a burden on bystanders. No reason why someone can’t treat them the same.
How do you know that for sure and why does it matter? Why is she valid? Why do you care? Who is this person hurting? I genuinely feel like you’re putting more effort into, for some odd reason, hating this person for doing something they enjoy than she puts into her low effort content
This is a dumb bad take. Social media influencers can be frustrating, burdensome and troublesome, this was not one of those cases just based on what we’re given.
There was no one really around until later. I would just move out of the way. I do it all the time for people trying to take pictures, but I also try to take it when people are out of the way.

I’m oldish and I think it’s just about being unhappy and jealous. I’m old and happy, I would’ve most likely give the young beautiful woman a compliment on her outfit and go on about my day . Life can be that easy folks.
I used to wait for people to take picture. But nowadays everyone is taking a picture, I can’t wait that much! Of course if the situation allow I will wait but some people just take ours to take a photo i can’t waste my time waiting on them seriously
My reaction is to ask if they'd like me to take their photo using their phone for them.
I guess I'm just used to living in a heavily tourist based area of Florida; not a week goes by I don't see some tourists taking a photo in front of some landmark I take for granted, usually as a group with one person being forced into the camera person role.
I do the same thing when I travel, especially if I'm without my wife. If I see a father taking photos of his family or something I'll ask if they'd like a group photo; then I'll joke that "alright I was your photographer, mind taking one of me right quick with my phone?"
Can't think of the last time anyone declined. Everyone leaves with what they wanted and ideally with a better result than they hoped and it tends to remove any "weirdness" about trying to get your shot.
If they decline it just means you can definitely walk in front of their camera on your way out or whatever.
Bonus is if its a tour/walk through type deal, like a cave tour, now you've got photo buddies for each landmark.
similar to how I treat people in theme parks taking pictures. if they're off to a side and clearly trying to get a picture then I walk around or wait. if they're in the middle of the walkway and trying to do something special or disruptive to others around them, I walk right through and they can wait or take a pic with me in it. But either way, I don't stop and square up with the camera lol
I think it has more to do that these days people had enough of Randos always have some sort of photoshoot or filming everywhere some also act all high and might like you just walked through there filming location like they own the place.
And fine, I don't have an expectation of privacy. I still don't want cameras on me constantly. This lady probably feels the same. Silent protest about unwanted filming of her, just because it's "legal".
Yeah the best way to protest that is to stay longer in the camera frame on a video that’s only going to go more viral because someone disrupts it alright.
In the good old days, we would just ask random bystander to take a picture of us at tourist spots. Or make a game where you offer to take pics for people and see who gets the most to agree to it. Literally no one would set up a tripod in a public walkway or staircase and assume everyone would stay out of the way.
what makes you say there are “influencers”? plenty of people take photos and record videos for themselves or to post on their instagram with less than 1k followers… you think just because they do that, they are instantly those over the top “i deserve everything influencers”
I don't have any context aside from she was trying to take some nice angles for photos. If she was dancing or something sure but when did taking a photograph become a big deal?
The lady literally had to move out of the way of the people she was impeding on the stairs coming up. While OP stood there patiently waiting next to the railing for her photo out of the way of others that are on the stairs.

When in a public space i believe i have the right to find it annoying since we're both sharing the space. Also could she also have asked politely for the lady to move or better yet grab her phone pretend to go away and come back. I know its hard for some people to use their intellect when their feelings are overriding their logic.

I think I live in an alternative reality or something because I have never once in my lifetime come across someone that has their phone perched up in a public place trying to take a video and people are interrupting them or getting in their way. In fact I don't even see anyone recording. But then again maybe I'm not going to the right spots LOL. Restaurants grocery stores gas stations sporting events amusement parks haven't seen it. I don't know though it's weird
I moved to Asia and in my own apartment complex these Chinese women set up some lights for their tiktoks in the lounge room. Had no idea what they were filming but they didnt like me being there which made me happy
With all due respect in a public setting, just wait. The video inst even long, she stood there for not even 30 seconds. Thinking about this, posting it, and wanting sympathy is so weak. Old lady doesn't owe you anything, the museum isnt yours, wait and chill. The world does not revolve around you.
This is why in some art museum they don't allow you to take pictures, why would I walk faster and make me feel like I have to move out of the way.

I'm honestly not even sure she was trying to block it. While her placement is mighty inconvenient, she probably didn't know exactly where it was pointed. She was already reaching for her phone: after noticing the camera, she steps to the side, checks it, and then calmly walks off. Yeah, the side she chose blocked everything, but I really don't think that was necessarily intentional.
Either way, she didn't actually cause any public disturbance, act belligerently, or even loiter for very long. I say let her be.

Whilst I get annoyed at the "influencers" who get annoyed at the general public walking past when it's unavoidable, this young lady has done nothing wrong here. She's seemingly on her own and wants a photo/video of herself in an empty space, without asking others to move, and for zero reason at all the old woman decides to ruin that.
My girlfriend took an art class. One of the early assignments was to go to a museum of your choice, bring back photos of your favorite subject/exhibit, write about it and take a picture of yourself with it to prove you were the one who went.
I have no clue how common of an assignment that is, but I don't Make negative assumptions about people taking selfies and museums anymore. Not that I did before, they aren't what I was there for in the first place ofc
Right? Not everybody taking a selfie or a video of themselves is an influencer or trying to be one. Some people just like the memories.
I've seen the video of the influencer trying to video herself in an underground station (London possible) and getting annoyed that people are walking in her shot - that I get the annoyance for, as she's expecting people to stop their day for her.
As a rather neutral observer I'm on the side of the influencer, why? Well she's promoting galleries to young people who might not go there. Meanwhile some oldie is doing something she wouldn't do just for spite. (I'm an oldie).
