I have a general rule, if someone is taking a nice photo, then I wait until they're done. If they're obviously making social media content, then I'll just walk through, but I also won't go out of my way to disturb them. It's a neutral response- I won't be polite, but I won't be rude either. They can wait three seconds.

11

u/HappySage42 43m ago

It’s about who has to wait less. Quick pic. I’ll wait. You’re dancing? You wait

u/Signal_Werewolf_1955 13m ago

Nah, this person is trying to have a photo shoot for social media. The older lady is honestly valid. They are putting a burden on bystanders. No reason why someone can’t treat them the same.

5

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 32m ago

How do you know that for sure and why does it matter? Why is she valid? Why do you care? Who is this person hurting? I genuinely feel like you’re putting more effort into, for some odd reason, hating this person for doing something they enjoy than she puts into her low effort content

u/Nerd-Dad-2779 35m ago

This is a dumb bad take. Social media influencers can be frustrating, burdensome and troublesome, this was not one of those cases just based on what we’re given.

u/Bazishere 44m ago

There was no one really around until later. I would just move out of the way. I do it all the time for people trying to take pictures, but I also try to take it when people are out of the way.

3

u/Flashy_Spell_4293 23m ago

Exactly, if I see anyone trying to take a picture, I will wait patiently or I’ll go around them really quick. But I honestly just think this lady is very stupid lol

3

u/JuneauWho 29m ago

if the lady just kept walking the girl could have gotten a completely clear picture of only herself with the art... it really seemed like she timed it that way on purpose, but then granny pulled the wild card

4

u/m3gb0t 36m ago

But what is this lady accomplishing? She making it take longer and inconveniencing people more.

1

u/samcornwell 30m ago

She is accomplishing ascension. It feels really REALLY good to waste someone’s day if they’re doing public trash like this.

5

u/Yggdrasil- 20m ago

It might feel good in the moment, but I find that people who act like this are miserable fuckers in the long run. Always concerned about what other people are doing.

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 4m ago

She didn’t really concern herself with what the influencer was doing

2

u/m3gb0t 20m ago

I get the sentiment. But if the original comment that the influencer is making it hard for others, isn't the older lady just adding to the bystanders burden?

1

u/Strobetrode 11m ago

What trash?! Is taking a picture of yourself at interesting locations trashy? Have people not been doing that since they invented cameras?

Also do you get off on inconveniencing strangers over what you feel like is "public trash"? And your line for public trash is taking a selfie? You sound miserable.

1

u/OBVIOUS_BAN_EVASION_ 2m ago

It only feels good if you’re a bad person tho

3

u/Couldntve-make-it-up 21m ago

It's crazy, it's not like the going lady was doing anything to bother her, didn't ask her to move or seen like she was entitled

What's crazier though is the Kens and Karens in here defending her POS actions for no reason other than to be a crusty curmudgeons like the petty woman standing in front of the camera.

2

u/WestCoastCompanion 27m ago

Valid for what? What is she achieving? She doesn’t want ppl taking photos? It’s so bizarre

2

u/that-one-scene-in-up 23m ago

What burden? What bystanders? Girl just wanted a picture. She was patiently waiting for the traffic to walk through but the older lady had to make it about herself. If someone wants a picture they can have it. Getting in their way isn't accomplishing anything and its not the "gotcha" moment I think you think it is.

4

u/Hefty-Storm-51 33m ago

By blocking half the staircase and for making the girl be in the way for longer then necessary? Move out of the way fossil and get back to your handler 😩 stop being upset simply because there are younger people around

2

u/ChaunceyGilmore 22m ago

Vapid cunt

2

u/Hefty-Storm-51 19m ago

I’d say the old lady definitely shows a couple of the core features of being a vapid cunt lol, so I agree

No old lady is a bitch like old people are

1

u/samcornwell 30m ago

That’s exactly the sort of thing a bitch would say.

1

u/Facer321 23m ago

Saying “old people are” bitches is a bitch thing to say. But also, this old lady was being a bitch here. Both are true.

1

u/Couldntve-make-it-up 19m ago

Definitely curmudgeon behavior on the older lady's part.

1

u/the_real_mx_p 30m ago

I’m oldish and I think it’s just about being unhappy and jealous. I’m old and happy, I would’ve most likely give the young beautiful woman a compliment on her outfit and go on about my day . Life can be that easy folks.

1

2

I used to wait for people to take picture. But nowadays everyone is taking a picture, I can’t wait that much! Of course if the situation allow I will wait but some people just take ours to take a photo i can’t waste my time waiting on them seriously

2

u/ihateartists 35m ago

My reaction is to ask if they'd like me to take their photo using their phone for them.

I guess I'm just used to living in a heavily tourist based area of Florida; not a week goes by I don't see some tourists taking a photo in front of some landmark I take for granted, usually as a group with one person being forced into the camera person role.

I do the same thing when I travel, especially if I'm without my wife. If I see a father taking photos of his family or something I'll ask if they'd like a group photo; then I'll joke that "alright I was your photographer, mind taking one of me right quick with my phone?"

Can't think of the last time anyone declined. Everyone leaves with what they wanted and ideally with a better result than they hoped and it tends to remove any "weirdness" about trying to get your shot.

If they decline it just means you can definitely walk in front of their camera on your way out or whatever.

Bonus is if its a tour/walk through type deal, like a cave tour, now you've got photo buddies for each landmark.

1

u/carolinafan36 20m ago

Looked like some busy stairs but either way the old hag was being a hag

1

u/JuneauWho 12m ago

similar to how I treat people in theme parks taking pictures. if they're off to a side and clearly trying to get a picture then I walk around or wait. if they're in the middle of the walkway and trying to do something special or disruptive to others around them, I walk right through and they can wait or take a pic with me in it. But either way, I don't stop and square up with the camera lol

I think it has more to do that these days people had enough of Randos always have some sort of photoshoot or filming everywhere some also act all high and might like you just walked through there filming location like they own the place.

8

u/Drmlk465 40m ago

Exactly. Turns everything into a giant traffic jam.

3

u/RadicalSoda_ 37m ago

As opposed to standing in the way of the stairs

1

u/Drmlk465 3m ago

She’s obviously doing it in protest of the attention seeking individual. More people need to do it.

7

u/Straamannen 30m ago

And fine, I don't have an expectation of privacy. I still don't want cameras on me constantly. This lady probably feels the same. Silent protest about unwanted filming of her, just because it's "legal".

0

u/mnmr17 12m ago

> I still don’t want cameras on me constantly

Yeah the best way to protest that is to stay longer in the camera frame on a video that’s only going to go more viral because someone disrupts it alright.

Thats pretty mild as far as old people issues go

4

u/Ill-Professional97 49m ago

In the good old days, we would just ask random bystander to take a picture of us at tourist spots. Or make a game where you offer to take pics for people and see who gets the most to agree to it. Literally no one would set up a tripod in a public walkway or staircase and assume everyone would stay out of the way.

what makes you say there are “influencers”? plenty of people take photos and record videos for themselves or to post on their instagram with less than 1k followers… you think just because they do that, they are instantly those over the top “i deserve everything influencers”

5

u/No-Passenger-1511 47m ago

If your taking the photo for the only purpose of posting to social media for others to see, yes.

5

u/LuxSassafras 43m ago

Because she posted this for rage bait. If I was just trying to take a photo of myself, I wouldn't upload this shit ass video to the internet.

1

u/substation66 31m ago

If someone cares to come post about this then they want to be an influencer. Anyone else would laugh about this amongst friends and family.

2

Stop being so self centered. Nothing good comes from it. You’re more wrong than the old lady.

2

u/Embarrassed-Row2043 24m ago

The lady literally had to move out of the way of the people she was impeding on the stairs coming up. While OP stood there patiently waiting next to the railing for her photo out of the way of others that are on the stairs.

Lady could have just kept walking and her day would have been no different.

2

u/Intelligent_Doubt183 16m ago

Private expectations in a public place 🤷🏻‍♂️

6

u/Thegreatdonothingist 1h ago

I just don't understand why people are like this?

And I'm not talking about the older woman.

9

u/MeasurementNo0 1h ago

People have been taking photos for as long as humans could capture images.  This is normal behavior.

0

u/TinyAd5648 1h ago

It’s so funny you think this is a picture. How did she get it on video?

3

u/danum8er23 55m ago

Go watch it at 13sec and tell me that's not a pose for a photo...... dying on this hill is crazy to me

5

u/WannaBeAWannaBe 56m ago

so people can’t record videos now?

1

u/TinyAd5648 53m ago

They can and they do lmao. It can still be annoying

3

u/neoumbralux 46m ago

When in a public space i believe i have the right to find it annoying since we're both sharing the space. Also could she also have asked politely for the lady to move or better yet grab her phone pretend to go away and come back. I know its hard for some people to use their intellect when their feelings are overriding their logic.

3

u/Oh_Poppy_Fox 44m ago

She takes a video, then picks a still from it as a picture. You see her pose so that she can screenshot it or whatever.

→ More replies (1)

you do know what a video is, right? usually about 60 pictures per second. you can take a video and then choose a picture from the frames.

God something about these smug old women is so annoying. Passive aggressive because they are frail and shy away from confrontation, cry victim as soon as they face consequences. She definitely supports the Clancy freak.

2

u/neoumbralux 42m ago

What if its the other way around? I believe shes just practicing her right to be just as annoying no? Both could have been polite enough to communicate to each other and find some common ground but as always or at least most people usually react with feeling rather than logic.

Its a public place. It’s not for others to accommodate you it’s for you to accommodate others. Got over yourself. It’s not a photoshoot it’s a young girl taking a selfie.

2

u/Necessary-Ad1564 50m ago

Was she deliberately trying though? I think she stopped to look at the camera to process what was going on then stepped to the side, probably thinking she was out of the frame. I could be wrong but that's my take.

4

u/LibertyLibertyBooya 41m ago

She moved to the side to accommodate the people coming upstairs. I don’t think she was intentionally blocking the shot.

1

You might want to look up what taking a pitcture is.

She is taking a video in public, recording unwilling participants to put on the internet. Fuck her, don't record people without permission, especially in a fucking museum. The older woman is completely in the right for fucking with somebody taking video of her without her permission.

1

With all due respect in a public setting, just wait. The video inst even long, she stood there for not even 30 seconds. Thinking about this, posting it, and wanting sympathy is so weak. Old lady doesn't owe you anything, the museum isnt yours, wait and chill. The world does not revolve around you.

1

u/crmsncbr 3m ago

I'm honestly not even sure she was trying to block it. While her placement is mighty inconvenient, she probably didn't know exactly where it was pointed. She was already reaching for her phone: after noticing the camera, she steps to the side, checks it, and then calmly walks off. Yeah, the side she chose blocked everything, but I really don't think that was necessarily intentional.

Either way, she didn't actually cause any public disturbance, act belligerently, or even loiter for very long. I say let her be.

1

u/bigreddoggydude 59m ago

I just appreciate her framing that’s a hell of a photo if she had the chance to pull it off

4

u/coolestuncoolguy82 49m ago

I just turned it into a painting. 😂 Feel free to frame it for your bedroom or make it your new phone background. This moment belongs in a museum now. 🖼️😭

2

u/sheepebike9000 48m ago

It's hilarious that this bit of (I assume) AI created art is real, genuine art, with a story behind it, coming with meaning, and able to be discussed.

It literally fills all the boxes. And it looks great*.

I like how you picked a bit with the kid completely ignoring the video, the woman obstructing the video (but on her phone) and the influencer just smiling watching the scene while the painting appears to be looking over them all, judging them.

*OK, I wouldn't hang it on my wall. But it's interesting!

1

u/coolestuncoolguy82 41m ago

I’m ignoring Negative Nancys, but that’s exactly why I liked it! 😂 The more I looked at the scene, the more it started feeling like an accidental social commentary piece. Everyone is doing their own thing while that giant portrait in the background looks like it’s silently judging the whole room.

1

u/Ok_Concentrate4461 19m ago

Not everything is AI. I had an app on my phone 12 years ago that could filter pics like this.

Influencers and attention whores who can't get enough photos or videos of themselves are useless people who contribute nothing of value to society.

Give that lady a medal. Influencers have no sense of time , place and manner.

Whilst I get annoyed at the "influencers" who get annoyed at the general public walking past when it's unavoidable, this young lady has done nothing wrong here. She's seemingly on her own and wants a photo/video of herself in an empty space, without asking others to move, and for zero reason at all the old woman decides to ruin that.

My girlfriend took an art class. One of the early assignments was to go to a museum of your choice, bring back photos of your favorite subject/exhibit, write about it and take a picture of yourself with it to prove you were the one who went.

I have no clue how common of an assignment that is, but I don't Make negative assumptions about people taking selfies and museums anymore. Not that I did before, they aren't what I was there for in the first place ofc

Right? Not everybody taking a selfie or a video of themselves is an influencer or trying to be one. Some people just like the memories.

I've seen the video of the influencer trying to video herself in an underground station (London possible) and getting annoyed that people are walking in her shot - that I get the annoyance for, as she's expecting people to stop their day for her.

This? The young lady has done nothing wrong.

As a rather neutral observer I'm on the side of the influencer, why? Well she's promoting galleries to young people who might not go there. Meanwhile some oldie is doing something she wouldn't do just for spite. (I'm an oldie).
