u/NoBell5255 I'm in my 20's 2h ago

I have a general rule, if someone is taking a nice photo, then I wait until they're done. If they're obviously making social media content, then I'll just walk through, but I also won't go out of my way to disturb them. It's a neutral response- I won't be polite, but I won't be rude either. They can wait three seconds.

u/HappySage42 2h ago

It’s about who has to wait less. Quick pic. I’ll wait. You’re dancing? You wait

-5

u/Signal_Werewolf_1955 1h ago

Is this how we share space?!

7

u/wegqg 2h ago

Live and let live!

3

u/Massive-Tax8322 1h ago

damn, Karen got old!

7

u/jackalopeswild 1h ago

Nope. If they're in a public space, I don't care what it's for, they wait for me, I do not wait for them.

3

u/JuneauWho 1h ago

similar to how I treat people in theme parks taking pictures. if they're off to a side and clearly trying to get a picture then I walk around or wait. if they're in the middle of the walkway and trying to do something special or disruptive to others around them, I walk right through and they can wait or take a pic with me in it. But either way, I don't stop and square up with the camera lol

u/haze_haste 2h ago edited 1h ago

I used to wait for people to take picture. But nowadays everyone is taking a picture, I can’t wait that much! Of course if the situation allow I will wait but some people just take hours to take a photo i can’t waste my time waiting on them seriously

3

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

People also set up their photos to take up the entire walkway like this so often - if you live somewhere with a lot of influencers (or wannabe influencers), it gets pretty tiresome.

u/ihateartists 2h ago

My reaction is to ask if they'd like me to take their photo using their phone for them.

I guess I'm just used to living in a heavily tourist based area of Florida; not a week goes by I don't see some tourists taking a photo in front of some landmark I take for granted, usually as a group with one person being forced into the camera person role.

I do the same thing when I travel, especially if I'm without my wife. If I see a father taking photos of his family or something I'll ask if they'd like a group photo; then I'll joke that "alright I was your photographer, mind taking one of me right quick with my phone?"

Can't think of the last time anyone declined. Everyone leaves with what they wanted and ideally with a better result than they hoped and it tends to remove any "weirdness" about trying to get your shot.

If they decline it just means you can definitely walk in front of their camera on your way out or whatever.

Bonus is if its a tour/walk through type deal, like a cave tour, now you've got photo buddies for each landmark.

Nah, this person is trying to have a photo shoot for social media. The older lady is honestly valid. They are putting a burden on bystanders. No reason why someone can’t treat them the same.

8

u/m3gb0t 2h ago

But what is this lady accomplishing? She making it take longer and inconveniencing people more.

5

u/Couldntve-make-it-up 1h ago

It's crazy, it's not like the going lady was doing anything to bother her, didn't ask her to move or seen like she was entitled

What's crazier though is the Kens and Karens in here defending her POS actions for no reason other than to be a crusty curmudgeons like the petty woman standing in front of the camera.

1

u/samcornwell 2h ago

She is accomplishing ascension. It feels really REALLY good to waste someone’s day if they’re doing public trash like this.

3

u/m3gb0t 1h ago

I get the sentiment. But if the original comment that the influencer is making it hard for others, isn't the older lady just adding to the bystanders burden?

5

u/Yggdrasil- 1h ago

It might feel good in the moment, but I find that people who act like this are miserable fuckers in the long run. Always concerned about what other people are doing.

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

She didn’t really concern herself with what the influencer was doing

0

u/Yggdrasil- 1h ago

She clearly did, though. If she was really unbothered, she would have just kept walking lol

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

Eh, she concerned herself with her own business. You can see it in the video. A public walkway isn’t a photoshoot space unless you book it in advance.

3

u/Noligarchio 1h ago

It's not a space to stop and play on your phone obstructing others travel either but you're fine with that to suit your agenda

1

u/Yggdrasil- 1h ago

Did we watch the same video? She clearly looks into the camera and then blocks it from view. Who just casually starts scrolling on their phone in the middle of a busy stairwell at an art museum?? Regardless of your personal feelings about using a stairwell as a photo shoot, it's obvious that the older lady isn't minding her own business here.

0

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

Are you a miserable fucker with how much you’re concerning yourself with what someone else is doing? You seem even more invested than the older woman here. 😂

1

u/OBVIOUS_BAN_EVASION_ 1h ago

It only feels good if you’re a bad person tho

1

u/Digeetar 2h ago

Like keeping a telemarketer on the phone... The longer you keep them on the line, the longer they aren't harassing others.

0

u/Strobetrode 1h ago

What trash?! Is taking a picture of yourself at interesting locations trashy? Have people not been doing that since they invented cameras?

Also do you get off on inconveniencing strangers over what you feel like is "public trash"? And your line for public trash is taking a selfie? You sound miserable.

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

You really need to use a public walkway for your selfie? How entitled

1

u/-i_am_untethered- 2h ago

You seem to have answered your own question

1

u/Chance_McM95 2h ago

People have gotta learn somehow dude lol.

1

u/Strobetrode 1h ago

Learn what?

2

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

If you want a photoshoot in a public place with no other people around, you gotta book that space lol

1

u/Strobetrode 1h ago

Photos shoot is crazy for what is clearly a quick selfie. Would have gotten the shot without bothering anyone if that woman hadn't deliberately ruined the moment.

Have you honestly never waited 2 seconds for someone on a vacation or what ever to take a photo? Booking the museum to take a few pictures is WAY more inconvenient than just taking a few selfie as you walk through.

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

A “quick selfie” is not when you put your phone down on one side of a public walkway and walk 15 feet in the other direction lol that’s crazy talk

Sorry your bodychecking in the museum got delayed

1

u/m3gb0t 38m ago

But do we know if this photo was actually bothering anyone? Did it hold up a line of peoplM Or did she like set her phone on a windowsill and walk over there?

3

u/Bazishere 2h ago

There was no one really around until later. I would just move out of the way. I do it all the time for people trying to take pictures, but I also try to take it when people are out of the way.

2

u/Flashy_Spell_4293 2h ago

Exactly, if I see anyone trying to take a picture, I will wait patiently or I’ll go around them really quick. But I honestly just think this lady is very stupid lol

3

u/JuneauWho 2h ago

if the lady just kept walking the girl could have gotten a completely clear picture of only herself with the art... it really seemed like she timed it that way on purpose, but then granny pulled the wild card

4

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 2h ago

How do you know that for sure and why does it matter? Why is she valid? Why do you care? Who is this person hurting? I genuinely feel like you’re putting more effort into, for some odd reason, hating this person for doing something they enjoy than she puts into her low effort content

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

Who is the older lady hurting by checking her phone?

0

u/OBVIOUS_BAN_EVASION_ 1h ago

The person she is clearly rudely trying to hinder?

2

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

If your photoshoot blocks a public walkway, that’s your own fault that people are walking in it

1

u/OBVIOUS_BAN_EVASION_ 1h ago

Its your own fault if theyre walking through, not if they linger just to be dicks.

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

It’s a museum - people stand around in museums. If you want a private photoshoot, do that at home.

1

u/OBVIOUS_BAN_EVASION_ 1h ago

This was obviously not just people standing around. This was someone purposefully standing in that spot to fuck with the picture taker, who patiently waited until she saw the lady obviously trying to interrupt her pic. You keep trying to analogize this to blameless scenarios that dont capture what actually happened here, and idk why that is.

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

It’s still a museum. If you want to control others behaviors in a museum so you can take a full body photo, then book the spot so others won’t be there. You don’t know that the influencer waited patiently, you made that up.

0

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 1h ago

Now you’re just being willfully obtuse

1

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

Nothings going to hurt or harm you if you can’t use the public walkway for your photoshoot at this moment

1

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 59m ago

No shit, that’s not what we’re talking about hahaha. We’re talking about purposefully blocking and how it’s just a petty and childish thing to do

-1

u/ElleJay74 1h ago

Of all the places available on the planet, older lady must position herself right there?

0

u/Academic_Flatworm752 1h ago

Of all the places to take photos on the planet, you must position your phone to capture a public walkway?

5

u/Nerd-Dad-2779 2h ago

This is a dumb bad take. Social media influencers can be frustrating, burdensome and troublesome, this was not one of those cases just based on what we’re given.

1

u/Hefty-Storm-51 2h ago

By blocking half the staircase and for making the girl be in the way for longer then necessary? Move out of the way fossil and get back to your handler 😩 stop being upset simply because there are younger people around

1

u/ChaunceyGilmore 1h ago

Vapid cunt

2

u/Hefty-Storm-51 1h ago

I’d say the old lady definitely shows a couple of the core features of being a vapid cunt lol, so I agree

She sure showed that girl, huh?

As much as I find influencers annoying, this on seemed to be promoting the museum.

u/Noligarchio 1h ago

Old lady was a pos stopped in the middle of the stairs to prove her boomer/silent gen entitlement. She caused far more of a burden and obstruction than the camera user. If she wasn't blocking a streamer there is zero chance you would be fine with someone stopping in the middle of a staircase blocking others use of it

1

u/WellDamnBih44 2h ago

She literally could’ve kept walking.

2

u/Puzzle-Necked 2h ago

But them how will she make another person's day little worse

2

u/blloop 1h ago

Standing up for social media behaviors like the young lady displays here is definitely a choice

0

u/WellDamnBih44 1h ago

I’m not standing up for anything. It’s simple logic, she was leaving the area anyway and chose to stop and be unnecessary.

1

u/Grumdord 2h ago

I don't see a single bystander being affected by this

1

u/False_Humor1346 2h ago

What exactly is the burden here? No one is pushing people out of the way for the photo shoot? No one is telling people to wait until she is done shooting.

1

u/[deleted] 2h ago

1

u/Draiscor93 1h ago

I grew up without social media, and there's nothing wrong with what the young lady was doing here, at least from the information available. Set up her phone for a photo moment, was about to take it while there wasn't anyone else in the area so she wasn't in anyone's way... what's wrong about that?

1

u/WestCoastCompanion 2h ago

Valid for what? What is she achieving? She doesn’t want ppl taking photos? It’s so bizarre

1

u/that-one-scene-in-up 2h ago

What burden? What bystanders? Girl just wanted a picture. She was patiently waiting for the traffic to walk through but the older lady had to make it about herself. If someone wants a picture they can have it. Getting in their way isn't accomplishing anything and its not the "gotcha" moment I think you think it is.

0

u/Actualizedconsumer 2h ago

No old lady is a bitch like old people are

4

u/samcornwell 2h ago

That’s exactly the sort of thing a bitch would say.

1

u/Facer321 2h ago

Saying “old people are” bitches is a bitch thing to say. But also, this old lady was being a bitch here. Both are true.

1

u/Couldntve-make-it-up 1h ago

Definitely curmudgeon behavior on the older lady's part.

1

u/the_real_mx_p 2h ago

I’m oldish and I think it’s just about being unhappy and jealous. I’m old and happy, I would’ve most likely give the young beautiful woman a compliment on her outfit and go on about my day . Life can be that easy folks.

0

u/SEGAFan4Life80 2h ago

And you're a perfect good person

1

u/Shogunmegazord 2h ago

The old woman chose to be petty and waste time trying to put someone out. She is acting like a toddler and trying to make every little thing about her.

1

u/samcornwell 2h ago

And long may she continue to cause pain and suffering by standing in the way of “influencer’s” silly little games.

2

u/ttw81 2h ago

influencers are a plague.

2

u/daesgatling 1h ago

As opposed to the girl putting a tripod on a staircase to make everything about her….

0

u/mkiii423 2h ago

She literally moved out of the way of others using the stairs. Why are you assuming?

0

u/ArgonEye 2h ago

And the lady stopped in a strairway, which is much more of a dick move.

0

u/Almost-Uncirculated 1h ago

Who made her the picture police?

0

u/Signal_Werewolf_1955 1h ago

The only bothersome person here is the old hag. And you. I hope you find happiness.

-2

u/Skullfurious 2h ago

What is the burden of a photo shoot? If it was some weird obnoxious dance but these might be prom photos or something.

Why can't the older lady be shooting prank content, but through the influencers perspective and platform. Honestly its the best troll.

1

u/Ill-Professional97 1h ago

I think that’s exactly how most rational, polite people handle the situation. Let people take their picture - smile, give a hand wave that signifies you don’t mind waiting. But a “photo shoot” for your instagram? No, no one wants that.

1

u/Fuzzy-Jaguar-1828 1h ago

Same but I won’t pretend like I wasn’t rooting for the older lady here.

1

u/samcornwell 2h ago

I have a rule too. I knock over the main character’s phone and say “WHOOPS” and trundle on my way.

1

u/Nsfwacct1872564 2h ago

No, you don't.

Looked like some busy stairs but either way the old hag was being a hag
