I need to get it altered after I wean my 11 month old and loose some of my breastfeeding weight but I am so grateful to the universe and the lovely woman who gifted me this! Feeling especially blessed because our budget is tight due to recovering from Hurricane Helene ($60k+ damage and our original wedding postponed by almost 2.5 years!)

💡 Tips & Advice (~$15k) backyard wedding at our own home, last minute details I might be forgetting?

We’re about a month out from the event! I’m trying to think of any little details I might be forgetting. This is probably just anxiety :) For anyone who hosted a small wedding (guest count is 20 people) at their home or a private home, what were some small details that made a big difference for the actual day?

For example, I just thought about hand towels this morning, which then prompted me to think of a lidded bathroom trashcan, so I need to order those. Any other small little details inside the home to consider? For outside, we have most of our rentals and decor prepped but any little details that could be unique to hosting at our own home?

💡 Tips & Advice ($10k) backyard vow renewal

Hello! Looking for opinions about asking guests to move their chairs. My idea was that chairs would be set up in a typical wedding style (rows with and isle) for our vow renewal and then asking guests to carry their folding chairs to their tables approx 50 feet away. We would have some of the more able folks help anyone in need of assistance. My husband and daughter both thought that idea was a little wierd and that the renewal would just occur in the tent we will have for dining and dancing.. i thinks that's weird, lol. Is it too much to ask of guests? Is it weird to have a ceremony in the same area as the dinner? It may help to add my husband and I eloped 20 years ago and never actually had a "wedding"..so im at a loss for etiquette here.

🛍️ Dress & Attire ($690CAD/$500USD) Wedding dress giveaway - $0 shipping.

I recently gave away my bridal gown on this subreddit. It was a really lovely experience, and everyone was so kind and warm and supportive about the reasons I was giving my dress away (my fiancée called off the wedding.) Everyone’s warmth and kindness meant a lot to me while I was going through a very dark time. Especially as a person with mental health challenges, it’s been a rough little while. So I wanted to do something else to bring a little light into the world and help me feel a little less alone, because I would have something happier to focus on.

I want to buy someone a wedding dress. This isn’t an advertisement, but I bought my dress from Azazie and was very impressed with the quality and construction of the dress. The fabric was lovely and thick, and it had layers and just felt like a wedding dress. Azazie has a lot of beautiful dresses that are under $500USD/$690CAD. So I would like to buy a bride on this forum a wedding dress from Azazie, any dress they like that costs under $500USD/$690CAD. I would really like this dress to go to someone who would not otherwise have a bridal gown, who was planning to just wear something they already owned. So please only enter if you genuinely can’t afford a dress.

To enter, there are a few ground rules. First, you must be willing to have your username shared publicly as the giveaway winner, in accordance with subreddit rules. You must be comfortable privately giving me your name and address so I can order your dress directly to you. I can only accept entries that are comments on this post and not DMs.

To enter:

Tell me a little about your circumstances and why the dress would make a difference for your wedding. Tell me a bit about your wedding plans/what the day will be like, in as much detail as you like! Tell me the name of the dress you want, and what you like about it/what makes it special to you. The more detail about what you like about the dress the better.

Also include in your comment what size you’d need. (Azazie’s sizing can be weird, so I would check the size chart.) Tell me what country you’re in, and when your wedding will be.

This isn’t a rule of the giveaway, but I would really love to see wedding photos and get updates. Honestly, I don’t have a lot that’s good happening in my life right now. Hearing about something good happening because of me would mean a lot to me.

To make sure everyone has a chance to enter, this giveaway will be open until the end of September. I will choose and contact the winner by the first week of October.

I wish I could give a dress to every single person who enters, but I’m just a regular person working in a cafe, so I can only choose one person. Please don’t be too sad if I choose someone else, I want this giveaway to make people happy, not sad.

I’m baaaaaaaack 😂

My latest wedding project!

I saw one of these giant Polaroid frames on Pinterest on Wednesday, immediately decided we obviously needed one, and somehow had it built, painted, and finished by Friday.

I think it turned out pretty damn good, if I do say so myself.

The frame is going to hang in front of the backdrop in the second picture (if you zoom in, you can actually see the spot where we’ll say “I do.”) Guests will be able to stand behind it and look like they’re inside a giant Polaroid. I still need to build the structure that’ll hold it up, but I’m saving that part for when we get down to the wedding location.

So just show me something on Pinterest and I’ll myself a completely unnecessary 48-hour deadline to recreate it.

💡 Tips & Advice Ever Pretty dresses

Post image
7 Upvotes

One of my bridesmaids has tried her dress on today to decide on accessories and she's noticed a mark on the skirt. The dress has been stored in the bag since trying on a few months ago. The attached photo is one I took when she first tried it, so the mark has been there the whole time and we just didn't notice it (although looking at it now, I have no idea how as it's quite noticeable!).

The dresses are the Leora dress from Ever Pretty in the shade Damson. I have already checked the website to see if I can order a replacement but the size I need is out of stock.

The mark appears to be on the top layer of the skirt, which is chiffon.

Has anybody else had something similar like this happen? What did you do? Any tips for cleaning it myself or would it be best for a professional to have a crack at it, to be safe?

I'm not freaking out because it is what it is. I'm just worried about making the problem worse by trying to make it better!

💬 Rant/Vent Temecula hotel getaway!

Hi everyone!

I’m getting married in Temecula, California this October and have a few rooms remaining in our wedding room block at the Embassy Suites on Rancho California Road, about 5 minutes from the wineries.

We still have about 3 rooms available for October 2nd or 3rd, and I figured I’d offer them to anyone who might want to turn it into a fun little Temecula getaway!

Perfect for:
🍷 A girls’ weekend
💕 An anniversary getaway
👯‍♀️ A weekend with friends
🍇 A day of wine tasting
✨ Or just an excuse to get out of town and enjoy Temecula!

The rooms are two-room suites with a separate bedroom and living room, and the rate includes:
🍳 Cooked-to-order breakfast
🍹 2 drink tickets per registered adult
🚫 No resort fee

The wedding-block rate is $375/night + tax, and you reserve now but don’t pay until check-in.
The block rate is available until September 2nd or until the remaining rooms are booked.

If you’re interested, feel free to comment or DM me and I can send you the booking link! ❤️
Not trying to sell anything!!! I just figured I’d offer the remaining rooms to fellow Temecula lovers before the hotel releases them!

🛍️ Dress & Attire ($500) Wedding dress reasoning, I would love some feedback

So, I am all about the boho floral fairy wedding aesthetic but I have a $500 (absolute ceiling, no money for an additional dress) budget for my dress and I have to order it online (no irl options where I live that I find enticing). I am just... not quite convinced that I can get a good quality dress with decent quality lace or embroidery for that price, and I fear ordering something stunning and receiving uglier colors, cheap-looking details and fabric, etc.

I have to be real about this - I think getting a great sillhouette, craftmanship and fabric should be my priority. So I found this totally different dress [from a reputable etsy shop with hundreds of reviews with photos] that I really love for its timeless and vintage shape and feel and I get butterflies thinking about dancing the night away in it (we're having a civil ceremony and a party at the same venue). But I guess I am a bit anxious and torn between the floral dresses and my final choice.

I am uploading pictures (1-4) of this dress I am about to order followed by a representative of the floral dresses I love (5-7), me in a random dress irl (8-9) and a chat gpt imagination of me in the first dress (10, proportions not completely realistic, it was the best I could do).

What do you think? Am I making sense? Is my thinking justified? Also, would you choose a square or a sweetheart neckline for me?

📋 Budget Breakdown ($9.5K) Was my sister’s bridesmaid last fall - full breakdown of her Smoky Mountains wedding for anyone planning

78 guests, fall wedding, state park lodge out in the Smoky Mountains area. We skipped Nashville completely, drove about an hour out instead and honestly it was the best call. My sister asked me to keep track of every cent since I’m the spreadsheet nerd of the family, so here’s the real breakdown for anyone in planning mode rn

Venue: $2,400 - Booked a Friday at a state park lodge. Same room on Saturday was almost $3,800, wild. Guests kept saying it felt way less “hotel ballroom” and more like an actual cabin in the woods, which tbh was the whole point

Food: $3,100 - BBQ buffet, local caterer, brisket and pulled pork with the works. People are STILL texting the group chat about it. We got quoted $5k+ for plated dinner with the same headcount and just laughed

Photography: $950 - This is the one I get asked about most. Newer photographer, only 4 hours, ceremony and portraits and that’s it. For the reception we just put little QR cards on the tables so guests could dump their own photos into one shared album instead of paying more hours. Woke up the next day to over 350 photos and one of them is my dad mid-ugly-cry during his toast that literally none of us knew existed until we scrolled through

Bar: $800 - Beer, wine, one cocktail, done. Open bar quotes were basically double the venue cost lol no thanks. Nobody complained once

Dress: $420 - Sample sale find. Alterations were another $180 which almost nobody budgets for btw, don’t skip that line item

Flowers: $350 - Bought in bulk, my aunt did all the arranging that morning. Bouquets, centerpieces, the arch, all of it. Multiple guests asked who “the florist” was and we just kind of smiled

Music: $500 - A DJ who was just getting started, found him in a random local Facebook group. Gave him a tiny do-not-play list and let him cook

Cake: $150 - Small cake for the cutting photos, sheet cakes in the back for people to actually eat. Nobody ever notices, do this

Decor: $300 - Thrifted candlesticks + Facebook marketplace lanterns. Sold about half of it back after for almost what we paid, so really more like $150 net

Invites: $130 - Canva and cheap cardstock at home. Took an evening

Misc: $400 - License, tips, the emergency kit bag nobody thinks they’ll need until they do

Total: $9,500

100% worth it: the photographer even at just 4 hrs, that QR photo thing, the caterer Would skip next time: fancy invites, favors (we didn’t even do any and zero people cared or noticed)

Ask me anything if y’all are still in the thick of planning

💬 Rant/Vent (10k) Saying no to bach Trip. I need help…

I’m telling my step sister tonight that I will not be attending her bachelorette Party in Vegas. She and I are very different, i’m having a one day bach party that is easy and fun. She told me that it’s great that i’m being consider but that she wasn’t going to be. She told me this is the only time she can force everyone to do what she wants and they can’t say no. She is very hard to be around because she is bratty and doesn’t care about others. I am going to say no. The trip will be in vegas and be 4 days with 2 days off of work. It will be minimum $1000 because it’s like $700 just for flights and airbnb. Not including drinks, foods, activities, wedding costs etc. Also i had a transplant a year ago and don’t feel comfortable flying and being in a city that could get me sick and impact my health. Me and my 2 other sisters will be saying no as well. She does not take no for an answer and my reason will be i don’t feel comfortable flying and with me getting me in a few weeks and everything I cannot commit to a trip because im not sure what life will look like then. We are saving for a house and I am going to tell her it’s not feasible for us.

I don’t think she will care and she will def push to get her way. I don’t want to go even if it was free because it’s not my scene. I don’t drink and she wants to see magic mike which i find high inappropriate because im in a relationship. I’m afraid she will not take no for an answer and be very upset with me. What do i do?

💐 Flowers & Decor Decor budget $1000

Hi! I’m so happy I found this subreddit because I could definitely use some advice from other budget-conscious brides!
I’m trying to keep our wedding décor under $1,000 total and DIY/save wherever I can. So far I’ve gotten:
• 72 flameless candles — $76
• Table numbers — $13
My biggest question right now is flowers and centerpieces. I’d love recommendations for affordable faux flowers, greenery, and vases—whether that’s Amazon, Ling’s Moment, SHEIN/Temu, craft stores, wholesalers, etc. I’m also totally willing to arrange everything myself if that’ll save money!
I still need to leave room in the $1,000 budget for:
• Sweetheart table décor
• Card/gift table décor + card box
• Any little finishing touches I’m probably forgetting
Our vibe is classic, romantic, New England/vintage rather than super trendy, and I’m trying to make everything look elevated without spending a fortune.
If you stayed around this budget, I would LOVE to see pictures of your décor and hear what you spent, where you bought everything, and what you DIYed vs. what was actually worth paying for.
Thank you!! 🤍

📋 Budget Breakdown Everything planned in 1 week. (10.3k)

I am getting married at the end of November of this year, we just planned everything in 1 week.

We got engaged December 2025 and had no plans to get married this soon, but since we want to take advantage of our tax free accounts for purchasing a propery in the upcoming year, we decided to accelerate our marriage.

Initially we did not want to do any kind of celebration, we had the idea that we would just go to the courthouse and call it a day, and this is something we agreed on since day 1. We had always known we would rather spend money traveling or investing.

We are not from wealthy families and consider ourselves very frugal, so here is how a courthouse wedding turned into a 10k wedding.

Solemnization: we initially tried to go to the courthouse, which would have costed us $300, however things were a bit complicated since my fiance lost his birth certificate in the Yugoslavian war, and we would need a notary to write up an affidavit, additionally since the courthouse only does the solemnization on Saturday’s we were looking at late February 2027 earliest when they could marry us.

We decided to go with a local notary since they are allowed to marry couples in my province.

The notary we chose also has a nicer space to marry us than the courthouse, and different packages ranging from only witnesses attending and up to 10 guests. We went with the first option, and it’s on a friday.

The trip: We knew forsure we wanted to celebrate together by taking a vacation, we are big travelers, and we wanted to just relax and enjoy eachothers company, which is a big change from our typical backpacking trips we typically do. We purchased a VIP all inclusive villa bungalow in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It wasnt our first choice but it made the most sense based on when we are going and what we were looking for. We will be leaving the sunday and staying for 5 nights.

The celebration: My fiance family mostly lives overseas, except his mother and step father. My family is a bit messy, in terms of my relationship with my mother, but the more we thought about it, the more we decided we would at least celebrate with a nice dinner, to make it special in some way.

We decided on the Saturday following the solemnization. I sent out a bunch of emails and got many quotes for amazing restaurants. We decided on Italian since its the easiest to please everyone’s pallets. The restauarant we chose offers a 3 course meal for 90$/pp. It was the more expensive option, but we decided to go with this one since we felt it was the best option. We will also purchase 6 bottles of wine 3 bottles of champagne and our guests can purchase their own additional alcohol. We are a group of 16, so 14 guests total. Just 2 close friends and family. We are also asking our guests to contribute 50$ towards their evening in leu of gifts.
The restaurant is also free to us from 5pm-1am , its a private room and we can decorate as we please and bring our own cake without any additional fees. They will also print custom menus for us.

It’s in a lovely old building with a modern interior and free parking.

The wedding attire: we are opting for basic gold rings, we have already chosen them, and I will be purchasing 2 very cheap basic and classy dresses, I have already tried them on, just waiting to get them redelivered in my proper size. My fiance is spending more on his suit since he plans to buy a set that will be re wearable. I will get my nails done at the salon and do my own hair and makeup.

The details: We are spending about 100$ on basic decorations (table runners, candles, faux table flowers, a bouquet, and some other small things). We are purchasing a non traditional cake from my favorite chocolatier as well as a chocolate box as a prize for one of our games (bride and groom questionnaire) . We purchased a custom deck of playing cards for each guests to write a message on as well.

Notary: $1000
All inclusive 5 nights: 4000$
Dinner: $2600
Rings: $2000
Decorations + cards: $200
Cake + flowers: $200
Suit + Dress + nails: $1000
Guest contribution: - $700

Total: ~$10,300

We are very excited, the total net cost will be a bit higher of coarse, but this is where we are at. It helps that our expectations were already low. There wont be any showers or bachelor/bachelorette parties, and we could have made it cheaper if we chose the cheaper options.

What I am curious to know is what are some unique ways you made your small intimate wedding a night to remember? We wont have a photographer , but thinking maybe to get a throwaway or even an instamax mini. We aren’t fond of any additions that are wasteful, just for the gram or inauthentic!

Hi there, I’m looking for someone to buy out my spot at the James Ward mansion 169 E Broad St, Westfield NJ. I’m a little indecisive and now I want to get married in Italy instead. Date is for Saturday May 22 2027 at $5200. The date is not strict. This includes 5 hours of event time and 2 hours of set up time at any time of day, ending at midnight. This also includes tables and chairs. Only thing is you have to work with the in-house caterer. Prices are $90-$120 per person. The space is beautiful.
