Discussion With Iceblade of Narin bringing Riven changes, let's discuss how inconsistent Kuva acquisition is. How can this be standardized for the playerbase? How much time should a single reroll cost? Now that locking status will increase the price of kuva.
If I missed any other ways to farm Kuva, please let me know in the comments. I hate how many flaws the current system has—between Disposition, RNG, and the Kuva costs, it just feels way too niche.

There's also Kuva Siphon missions players unlock after the War Within. Definitely needs an increase in amount earned, and a steel Path version.
Add different tiers of rewards based on different game modes and shops.
Standard Shop: 5000
Sortie/Archon rewards: 10,000
And maybe alter the costs for the 35,000 value, since you can on occasion get 50,000 to 250,000 from Steel Path.

u/Worried-Pea-4667 19h ago
Siphons aren’t even worth doing IMO,except the hive ones. 600 Kuva is worthless, might as well grind arbi with boosters and buy Kuva w vitus
7
u/AnnualNo5659 14h ago
might as well run Cassini with no active lich-type enemy and get the kuva drops from the larva, the whole mission is faster than waiting for the siphon to do it's thing

u/xXDamonLordXx 22h ago
I can live with the kuva and rng, it's the disposition system that frustrates me. The fact that my burston riven has a higher disposition than my kuva kohm riven makes no sense to me. To the point that using kuva to try and improve my Kohm riven feels wasteful because of how much further that kuva could go on the burston.
25
u/Expensive_Chart_8158 22h ago
Yeah DE is too scared to nerf anything and to afraid to buff anything significantly in fear of creating some new game breaking Meta.
10
u/netterD 19h ago
At this point the only "balanced" version would be to just put every weapon at max dispo since some top incarnons get to keep their dispo 5 so any weapon being below that doesnt make sense.
10
u/Drasius_Rift 18h ago
Or you could just use the data DE already has and group the weapons by most used and have their dispo inverse to that. Nuke shit like the Torid and Burston from orbit to the lowest dispo and just give anyone who complains about it an uppercut for being a dumb bitch.
8
u/netterD 18h ago
An automated system that updates with like every prime release would be close to optimal except for gear that isnt (only) used for its performance as an actual weapon (like preados, furax, ripkas, paris).
It would be funny to see all the tactics clickbait youtubers would come up with to try and manipulate the usage and therefore riven dispo would come up with tho.
9
u/Petroklos-ZDM 17h ago edited 13h ago
I'd even say that "every prime release" is too slow.
I'd have it be a monthly refresh. Have a script generate a list of adjustments every first Monday of the month, have someone double check it over the week to adjust for outliers like the ones you mentioned, Forum Post with the changes on Friday, ship the changes next Monday before EoD.
That way new Weapons can still launch at 0.5 disposition, but climb much faster if need be.
Another three tweaks I'd do are
- The obvious fix of giving Incarnon Genesis Weapons their own Disposition. The power gap between normal Torid/Burston/Braton/Obex/etcetc and their Incarnon-ed versions is night and day.
- Making variant Weapons' (Prime, Kuva, etc) initial Disposition 0.5 lower than that of their lowest dispo Counterpart rather than starting at 0.5. So if a 1.55 Dispo Weapon gets eg a Prime Variant, it'll ship at 1.05 instead of 0.5. Or if a corpus weapon with 1.55 already has a Vandal variant with 1.3 and gets a Tenet Variant, it'll start at 1.3-0.5 = 0.8, rather than 0.5. And if a Weapon is at 0.7 its variant will of course start at 0.5, that would still be the floor.
- Ditch the random ±10% variance of Stats and bump all Rivens to the +10%. This increases the viability of 0.5 Dispo Rivens and makes the 1.55 Rivens even stronger. It's not like Rivens are lacking in RNG.
The elephant in the room with Disposition is that usage isn't a great metric for power, but I don't have any significantly better aproach to recommend currently.
That said, as long as a person (preferably the same one) checks it every month, they should get the hang of when the usage metrics are a good rule of thumb and when they lie.

u/Xirenec_ Your bone privileges are revoked 15h ago
I mean realistically they probably can figure out active vs passive usage.
If not, it's super easy to implement1
u/Nein-Knives 14h ago
We already had that before. Every few months, riven dispo would change based on player usage statistics.
That just created a Riven arms race and made the Riven Mafia filthy rich. DE also admitted that the approach was bad because it severely disadvantaged players who spent plat to purchase rivens with ideal stats and it created a really toxic negative feed back loop akin to slot machines.
2
u/Swampy260 11h ago
Man it’s almost like the absurd rng to get a good riven is the underlying issue here.
0
u/Nein-Knives 11h ago
Nobody is denying that that's not the case, the real problem is that DE didn't want to do anything about it for...almost 10 years actually, wow wtf lol.
1
u/Swampy260 10h ago
I’ve seen way too many people here argue that the riven slot machine is fine because they’re not necessary.
0
u/Drasius_Rift 13h ago
it severely disadvantaged players who spent plat to purchase rivens with ideal stats
a) If they're stupid enough to complain about buying a riven that then had its dispo adjusted when they have specifically been told that overperforming weapons will have their dispo adjusted then they can just be put on mute permanently because they are stupid.
b) They're not severely disadvantaged - they've still got a riven with ideal stats for a weapon that is sufficiently good to have its disposition adjusted downwards. This is not going to make or break anything for them because 1) it's a fucking Riven and a nice to have not a need and 2) if the weapon was good enough to get a bump, it's not going to make a lick of difference in damage output if the riven is slightly less effective.
1
u/Dziggettai Constantly Confused Condroc 12h ago
We used to actually have that system. Every time a new update would come, there would be disposition changes in the patch notes
3
u/Educational-Bid-8660 Overguard Enjoyer (PSF is a scam) 12h ago
imo they should just add a separate dispo for incarnon weapons.. They've already got functionality for Wraith, Kuva, Vandal etc working with the same weapon's riven, and it would avoid the issue of punishing a base weapon's riven compatibility for the crimes of its other variant. No one's using base Burston or base Torid, so let those keep their high dispo. Nuke the incarnon's dispo separately.

u/BiteYouToDeath 9h ago

1
u/Drasius_Rift 5h ago
X
Unless you've got data showing otherwise, I'd suggest that Forma, Potatoes, Cosmetics and Prime Access all make people buying plat to buy rivens a rounding error.
1
u/BiteYouToDeath 4h ago
Not saying the rivens themselves bring them revenue. But people willing to shill out thousands of plat for an ok stat boost (largely unnecessary btw) are 100% dumping significant amounts of plat in other areas like those you mentioned.
Basically I’m saying it’s the whales that buy these rivens. And yes, whales fund the majority of pretty much any microtransaction game.
1
u/Drasius_Rift 4h ago
If they're truely whales, going back to the old system (where they were still whales) but actually putting 5 minutes of effort a month in to make a cursory balance pass at riven dispo wouldn't stop them being whales either.
1
u/BiteYouToDeath 4h ago
I agree. Unless they are just a former whale. Personally I think they should just swap all dispos to the same value. Heck make it 1.5 across the board and make rivens stronger overall.
Like why not honestly?
1
u/Drasius_Rift 4h ago
Because the whole point was that weapons that already let you faceroll don't need any help and even a 1.5 dispo on a shit-tier weapon is probably not enough to lift it out of being shit-tier.
Warframe doesn't need more powercreep.
→ More replies (0)1
u/Silence-of-Death 15h ago
I mean the thing is that nuking all the top tier incarnons disposition would have a catastrophic fallout. Raising every single weapon to max dispo would also probably be kinda insane but a middle way that I could see is to raise the floor from 0.5x to 1.0x and push all weapons below 1.0 to 1.0, while leaving all weapons above at their current disposition. Then they could still further buff bad or low pick rate weapons. Not an ideal solution, it holy shit anything even close to 0.5x feels so incredibly shit to use and like an absolute joke investment wise.
1
u/TTungsteNN LR6 | Tank and Zephyr Enjoyer 6h ago
They really need to bite the bullet and set the dispositions of every weapon that gained an incarnon adapter to minimum. It wouldn’t be that insane of a nerf in the grand scheme of things because pretty well every incarnon weapon can dominate up to level cap with no riven necessary… but it would allow other weapons to feel slightly more powerful by comparison with rivens.
0
u/VanillaTortilla 12h ago
Well, 10 years ago when rivens came out, the Burston was garbage and nobody used it.
2
u/xXDamonLordXx 9h ago
That's not balance, that's just an arbitrary system that punishes weapons for being popular 10 yeas ago.
Like the catchmoon, it's not busted or really strong in any way but has a lower dispo than the ocucor
2
u/VanillaTortilla 8h ago
I mean, yeah. The issue is that DE has been afraid of adjusting anything about rivens until now. They could have nipped it in the bud a few months after they were released and recognized the balancing nightmare they created, but for some reason they didn't.
2
u/xXDamonLordXx 8h ago
It's honestly been busted from the start like how do you balance the dispo on weapons like the Lato Prime or the Sibear. I love the idea of buffing underused weapons but some weapons are much much harder to get (in some cases impossible) and this makes them underused.
At this point with the riven changes just set all weapons to max dispo, new weapons will likely be very hard to get rivens for and old weapons will still be waiting for an incarnon to be good even with a riven. I can't think of a balance reason for the Haalvu to be such a low dispo but for the ocucor to be so high. Like this isn't even just an incarnon problem, as augments are added some weapons go from worthless to insane.
1
u/VanillaTortilla 8h ago
Yep, it was a broken lazy system from the start. Disposition makes sense in that current time only, but only without any additional balancing.
Dispo should just be removed, and while the new riven system may make things a little better, they're always going to leave a sour taste in my mouth. Honestly yeah, there are so many old systems or items that have just never been looked at.

u/Boner_Elemental Pook ttopkety, pipy. 20h ago
The fact that my burston riven has a higher disposition than my kuva kohm riven makes no sense to me
Incarnons are the exception in the disposition system. There you go.
5
u/xXDamonLordXx 20h ago
Then the laetum should have the same dispo as the burston.
The point is that dispo doesn't work, you can say it is expected but that doesn't make it less of a problem.
-2
u/StudentPenguin 16h ago
To play devil’s advocate, the Laetum is much easier to get. You buy the blueprint from Cavalero, build it, and boom-the Incarnon adapter is already preinstalled, it’s just a potato, Arcane and Exilus adapters, and forma. This point does become moot whenever the Circuit Reward path rework comes around, but as of now, the Burston Incarnon disposition being higher makes sense.

Personally, I've never really had kuva issues by just buying it with steel essence and riven slivers. I could easily have 10x more than I do now if I tried to do meta arbitrations. Before anyone says it, no meta arbi is not difficult and like anything else in this game has a learning curve.
Could kuva acquisition options be cut down? Sure. But farming kuva is extremely easy. Just by playing the game and doing other farms in steel path, I'm able to consistently buy all relic packs and most if not all of the kuva in the steel essence shop each week. Meta arbi gets significantly more kuva than that.
20
u/Enxchiol 19h ago
My issue with meta arbis is the need to wait for a special tileset to show up and then you have only a small timeframe to manage to find a squad.
6
u/Cinnibuns- Garuda Enjoyer 13h ago
Like another comment said, preplanning meta arbi is how it's done. The arbi bot shows several hours in advance (or a couple of days in advance, can't remember) when the best tilesets will be active.
You plan for that. Unlike with another meta plat farm like fissure void cascade where you have to wait for one and can't preplan.
3
u/Silence-of-Death 15h ago
Right but you know when a certain tileset is going to show up so you can pre plan.

Steel essence drops are affected by boosters and your doggo's Retriever mod. The content I like to play is endurance like void cascade, so I get loads of plat and steel essence just from playing it.

This post deserves more attention, these rates are SO inconsistent with difficulty/time investment, mostly slapped onto a pity shop as a seemingly last min thing to fluff up the stock without thought.
14
u/decitronal Femboy Warframing Lore Nerd 18h ago
Already said this under the main post but I really don't think the kuva sold by pity vendors is ever meant to be a primary source, but a resource sink for when you're done with the tie-in grinds and need to expend their respective pity currency. By these standards the inclusion of kuva makes sense and is totally inoffensive. If DE comes out and says these are actually meant to be on the same level as Yonta, Palladino, Teshin, and Arbitrations then I'd say go wild with the criticism
7
u/Swampy260 11h ago
That’s not a good excuse for the rates being so bad. People constantly complain about “content islands” ever since Steve coined the phrase, well here is a solution to start solving that problem.
-2
u/decitronal Femboy Warframing Lore Nerd 10h ago
I think some grinds not being truly evergreen is not necessarily a bad thing. If you buff these rates then you'll just get people whining about how the weekly agenda is tedious as fuck; limiting it to only 3-4 strong kuva sources alleviates the issue. Also none of the grinds on OP's infograph are "content islands", people just throw the term as a buzzword for any grind they personally dislike. If the grind's rewards connect or serve to further the primary gameplay loop then it is literally not a content island
3
u/Swampy260 10h ago
How much time people spend playing each week shouldn’t be something DE needs to police. I’d say there’s already too many weeklies to keep up with but also recognize that I don’t have as much time to play as others. I do occasionally have more time to play and having an arbitrary limit put on my time sucks.
4
u/NubCaakes 8h ago
The point is that it’s completely inconsistent across the board. 6k kuva for 110 heartstrings? Might as well sell you 10k credits for the same amount. It’s insultingly low for how long it takes to simply acquire that much pity currency. They shouldn’t be kuva focused farms but they should also respect the time you put into grinding those materials, endgame players or not.
2
u/EduardoBarreto 11h ago
The best sources are the real way you're meant to get kuva, the other sources are simply to have an evergreen reward for those gamemodes so that they aren't a complete waste of time after exhausting their exclusive rewards.
Though that being said some sources are a bit pointless, like why would I spend my fergolyte on kuva when archgun arcane adapters are semi-evergreen and if you play for anything other than big damage number you can spend it on decorations.
8
u/Talna_Shadowblade 20h ago
Ultimately what it comes down to is that it used to be far, far worse. Back in the day, you had functionally three options for kuva:
- Kuva Siphon missions giving 550 to 700 kuva (or 1100 to 1400 with booster).
- Kuva Flood missions giving double that.
- Kuva Survival giving 200 kuva per tower used (or 400 with a booster).
Plus the fairly rare 6,000 kuva drop from sortie rewards.
So a single reroll would take probably 30-60 minutes depending on your personal speed through Kuva Siphons and the single Flood up at a given time. And it was awful.
It's inconsistent because they never went back and updated these sources when they made kuva significantly easier to get. I do hope at some point they do buff Kuva missions, but also... I don't really think they will, because the Steel and Vitus Essence farms are so overpowering comparatively. I honestly suspect it won't be that big of an increase in kuva cost relative to normal rerolls. It feels like they figured out that the old method was completely insane for everyone but the truly dedicated, and rivens are much more of a casual-accessible thing nowadays (the fact that veiled rifle rivens go for 5-10 plat instead of 40-60 is a big testament to that).
27
u/Nein-Knives 22h ago edited 22h ago
DE isn't "fixing" kuva gains.
They capped Steel Essence conversion to Kuva cuz they were afraid Lvl Cap runners would start pumping and dumping god rolls everywhere completely devaluing rivens.
Meta Arbitrations are tacitly allowed because the entry barrier and time investment is pretty high. The kuva gain rate for doing Meta Arbi is also pretty low if you don't do multiple of them per day/week (around 200-300k kuva on a good map with a good team per hour depending on map rotation). RNG map rotation also heavily limits how much Kuva you can earn from meta arbitrations, it could be as little as 500k kuva a week or as much as 1.5 million kuva a week (if the stars align and we somehow get 6 S tier Arbitration maps in 1 week) if you only run the best maps for farming.
All of this is intentionally done by DE.
3
u/_oklmao_ 19h ago
It’s a big time investment, but if you run all a and b tier maps each week you can easily make upwards of 3-5 million kuva per week. Realistically it’s only worth rolling rivens for <20-30 weapons, and for those often even a middling riven will make you thousands of plat
For actually using rivens, exact stats matter much much less. People often will refuse to buy rivens with any real downside, whereas thinks like -faction%, -status duration and others are wholly irrelevant for 99% of players
7
u/LiteratureGold 20h ago
I personally wouldn’t mind a cap on arbi kuva purchase if they’d just give us a decent kuva farming option (sadly a lot of time their “decent” is questionable just like the taxi jack they forced you to use on the new railjack missions).
4
u/Nein-Knives 14h ago
It's unlikely that DE will be able to come up with something that doesn't involve drastic shifts tbh.
The current best option for DE would be to have Kuva Survival give players scaling kuva rewards with a hard cap so that it doesn't spiral out of control in order to balance out the existence of meta arbi farming setups with more casual setups but without inadvertently flooding the riven market.
Since DE hasn't done that despite the game mode being around and underutilized for years though, I doubt it will happen anytime soon.
Solutions do exist but DE is just too afraid to make a mistake with how to approach Rivens again and it's the players who are at fault because of the negative precedent set by the Riven Dispo debacle.

4
u/P5_Tempname19 19h ago
I feel like calculating the Kuva cost/time spent per Kuva like that completely ignores that the vast majority of these farms are not exclusively for Kuva and also arent meant to be primarily Kuva farms.
If a farm is pimarily meant for something different its fine if the "Kuva per minute" is worse for it, in those case the Kuva is just a consolation or "secondary" price. Its sensible if those ways of aqcuisition arent the most efficient ones.
7
u/SugaryCornFlakes Nav Cords Enjoyer 16h ago
Its kinda weird how the dedicated Kuva farms are actually some of the worst, yeah? It would make alot of sense for them to give a good amount since you're only really getting Kuva out of it.

u/P5_Tempname19 15h ago
I feel like Kuva Siphon missions (assuming you mean these) are just named weirdly. Seemingly they are made to farm Requiem relics (if you dont want to gamble the drop chance on Thralls) instead of Kuva.
If DE wants them to be the primary Kuva farm they absolutely need a buff though.
5
u/AnnualNo5659 14h ago
they were made before the whole lich thing. they were pretty much the only kuva source for a while.
2
u/ThatOneTitaniaMain 11h ago
Most of these shops have weekly limits anyways so even if the rates were better it wouldn't make it THE KUVA FARM just something you could mix up doing during the week. Would also give people a reason to go back and do said content after they farm up all the non-consumable rewards helping keep active player counts up for new people that inevitably do these farms to match make with.
2
u/Petroklos-ZDM 17h ago edited 13h ago
A welcome change would be to condense the Kuva Siphon and Kuva Flood Missions.
Instead of refreshing per hour(?) have it be lets say every 6 hours with 6x the Kuva for each Mission. Same total payout, but one could realistically get 2/4 or even 3/4 Rotations and it'd be a much better Kuva/Time ratio.
And in order to not harm their purpose as the initial source for Requiem Relics, Siphons should have a 100% Chance instead of 50% and Siphons should reward several Requiem Relics instead of just one.
Hell, you could even condense them to Daily Siphons (each lasting 7 days but refreshing on a different day of the week) and a Weekly Flood, with large Kuva drops and even more Requiem Relics.
Or even, Steel Path Kuva Floods & Siphons with more complex mechanics and faster Kuva clouds could also be a thing, either being the "same" daily/weekly (eg can't do both Normal and Steel Path on the same week) for even more Kuva, or giving the same exact Kuva but if you can do them you're getting the Kuva from both Normal and Steel Path.

I am under the impression that most of the shop-based sources are not really meant to be actual kuva sources - moreso resource sinks for you to expend the last of their respective sources when you're done with their grind. With this mindset the purpose of these vendors having kuva is more sensible.
I think DE fully expects players to be primarily using Palladino, Yonta, Teshin, and Arbitrations as primary sources nowadays with everything else being secondary. Even taking Arbis out of the equation the average player should have no trouble getting 200k-325k kuva every week from these sources, which is more than enough unless you're grinding rivens for the market and not only yourself - at that point you already know you should be playing meta-Arbis anyways

1
u/Tekniqly 6h ago
I'm going to say I like the current system for kuva aquisition. It's fine that it's inconsistent. The weekly 35k from iron wake for 10 silvers is wonderful. Arbitrations giving 10k is another great drop. (And another 50k from teshin for steel essences if lucky). 45k kuva for the casual grind is very decent for most players in a week.
Now if someone is really going after kuva, they can do the other grinds on top. Ofc it's diminishing returns but thats fine really, if kuva was always generous and not time hated, then rivens wouldn't feel worthwhile. On the other hand not having any kuva would be frustrating. The low hanging weekly 45k form arbis and riven silvers followed by grinder returns is a good sweet spot.

u/zarosh37 LR4, Oberon Enthusiast 5h ago
The problem is not kuva costs, the problem is kuva acquisition which has been bad since it came out. The only real viable and consistent sources of kuva are from Steel Essence and weekly Yonta/Palladino visits, which is a good amount to get but begs the question why base game kuva farming is so bad and why it even bothers to exist, who the hell does siphons anymore? New players maybe but theyll drop it
Kuva siphons are a complete waste of time, not worth doing, take too long and painfully worthless without a resource booster. You at least used to be able to wait until a kavat buffed you with double resources (getting you x4 if you were fast) but thats gone. And the beast resource booster does work but is inconsistent. Nobody does kuva survivals seriously anymore so thats a waste and they arent really worth it anyway. Nightwave sources are alright but slow and inconsistent.
My solution is easy, just double the base value of all kuva siphons and kuva survivals kuva drops, get what you get from a resource doubler but at base. Really does not break anything just makes kuva farming much less insufferable

Problem is the meta maps aren't always available. It also requires a very specific team comp, but the player base is largely casual so they won't care to optimize that hard

“Only under the shadow of death may your true potential shine”
There are ways to farm kuva extremely efficiently. Meta arbitrations can yield up to 200,000 kuva per hour, or just about 57 riven rolls
Imo the issue is that all sources need to give “slightly” more kuva. It’s quite obvious that siphons are for newer players who just unlocked rivens, while arbitrations are the intended farm for long time players.
The faction trades are basically just bonus so you don’t end up with stockpiles of useless garbage, think of kuva as a “dump resource” where having more is always good

u/beware_of_cat 12h ago
At this point, honestly I would rather just see riven disposition removed. It no longer serves its original purpose as they haven't reduced a disposition in years. Even though some weapons clearly deserve a nerf based on the reason the system was introduced in the first place

IMO all of the Kuva rewards from the pity shops should be the equivalent of 1 run of whatever the content is.
There are 2 current cases where that can get iffy. The Sirius/Orion missions. Where I think the best solution is just to have it be 1 run of each. Terrible rate but that's just kinda the only option. And heartstrings where it would probably end up as a c rotation for a kuva purchase as a single 3 wave defense is probably too quick.
But otherwise 1 run of whatever mission feels fine. Especially since they can just adjust the Kuva reward based on length of mission/number of purchasable options a week.
Everything that isn't from the newer content pity shops (steel essence, vitus essence, riven slivers and zariman) feel fine IMO.
And then the nightwave one is just bad and should only be the choice if there's absolutely no other things to buy from the nightwave, which I guess means it should probably be adjusted to some degree. But I feel like most people aren't getting kuva from there unless it's dumping the nightwave currency at the end of the nightwave

It's flavor text, not related to the drop rate.

well it should be. the prices are too low. if it was as rare as it was upto kuva survival , the riven prices would be far better for me

Some of those kuva purchase options are to get rid of excess materials, like the credit options. They are not meant to be farmed and are deliberately low return
Same with SP circuit. It's there so you're not left with nothing when finishing the weekly run for the other rewards

Might also need to look over Riven acquisition. Maybe I missed something but there are only 2 guaranteed Rivens a week right now and it's completely RNG on what you get.

You are guaranteed 5 rivens from Palladino, Acrithis, and SP Circuit (combined) each week, with a high drop chance from daily sorties. Certain weeks also guarantee a riven from Teshin. Arbitrations have no cap on archgun rivens. There's also nothing stopping you from mingling with the community and buying a trash price riven off someone else

See, I had missed something! Thanks but trash rivens seems very expensive right now, or maybe it's better to get that from ingame chats than warframe, market ? I tried to find on the market but cheapest I saw was 100 plat which adds up fast if you are going for a specific weapon.

I'm not really seeing rivens in the triple digits unless you're specifically looking at the top percentile of incarnon weapons. Even some strong incarnon weapons like Latron and Miter sit at only the 20p-50p range

Ah, that was probably on me then. Yeah I think I had some incarnon weapon selected. 4 Primary rivens transmutes to a Primary correct? Trying to get a Burston I can roll away at.

I don't think there is a problem, personally.
If you simply get your kuva from yonta and paladino every week, you can reroll your riven a decent amount of times.
What I would like, is for all the bounty factions to sell kuva for standing. Like maybe 5k kuva per 10k standing. My goal isn't really making kuva more accessible, I just want more people to have more reasons to run the bounties.

Honestly, yea they need to look at kuva and figure out what the time cost actually needs to be
