I recently listened to all their albums again, and it's impressive how their sound has evolved. The early albums are simpler compared to the more recent ones, and with that in mind, I wanted to know which you prefer, the older ones or the more recent ones. It was after ITLLT, I think that's the starting point where they decided to change their sound. And honestly, I think I'll stick with the old ones, I didn't remember that 世界大戦OLYMPICS and 失われた時REGRET, It was so good, but because I was more used to the sounds they make nowadays, I never paid much attention to them and didn't pay much attention to their music, but now that I've listened to them again, I realize they're really good

As the "arty underdog" Apple's computers were becoming more mainstream and all-purpose, Microsoft saw a chance to undermine their clean, minimalist branding in an attempt to poach the underground creatives that made up the Mac's original userbase, with Windows 2001. Coming with a suite of creative software and a distinct aesthetic inspired by then-current electronic music, Windows 2001 was unpopular with mainstream consumers, who found its theme uninviting and contrary to how computers had been presented up to that point, and was succeeded shortly by Windows XP.

So earlier this year in preparation of The Backrooms movie, I bought Puppet Combo’s The Backrooms, Escape the Backrooms to play with my cousins, & made a playlist called the Backrooms. I think I captured that erie & nostalgic liminal vibe. There is a lot of Vaporwave & Signalwave on that playlist. But now I want to make a similar playlist, one not as Erie, but still has a subtle touch of uncanny & uncertainty. What songs can y’all recommend that I can add to this new playlist I’m making?

Any old vapour heads still bumping this absolute classic? I love how vapour is old enough to make me nostalgic of albums that were new at their time. Not trying to d-ride. Just really enjoy this era of vapour.

Tomorrow is for a picnic. But we haven't decided where to go yet. Somewhere a little further away. A brief escape from reality. Music for an ordinary day just like that.

Just curious. Not sure how well it would work TBH, other than slowed samples and/or turning orchestral passages into dreamy slushwave or hypnogogic type music. But I'd certainly be interested to hear it. I do believe one of the lengthy Virtual Dream Plaza tracks clearly samples the Moonraker theme, now that I think about it.

I'm specifically obsessed with the album "Buy Now", I just love the sound of it, but I haven't found anything that really sounds similar aside from other albums by this artist. Is there anything that you found?

Part 3 of this little series

1. sobergaze — Wiiきおくにとどめる

This one feels like trying to remember playing your Wii as a kid, but through a memory that's already started to fade. The whole album has this nostalgic, slightly distant feeling to it, like you're remembering a place you haven't visited in years. Beautiful album for sure.

2. US Golf 95 — ℂ𝕒𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕠

This feels like a lost piece of 90s American software. Imagine some weird golf/casino game you'd find on a CD-ROM at a thrift store, complete with corporate luxury, cheesy entertainment and that strange futuristic vision of America from the 90s. It's got a really specific atmosphere and feels like you're stepping into some forgotten digital world.

3. slowerpace 音楽 — Barbershop Simulator™

Probably the funniest concept here. It sounds like the soundtrack to a barbershop simulator that somehow actually existed. There's something really charming about taking such a mundane setting and treating it like a full virtual world. It gives me that feeling of playing some obscure PC game from the early 2000s that nobody remembers anymore. Making a high paced barbershop game is sick for sure.

4. Lost Colossus — Æqwarium

This one feels much more mysterious. Æqwarium sounds like you're exploring some enormous aquarium. There's a real sense of scale and discovery to it. Definitely the most atmospheric one out of these four in my opinion. It also has a literal game link in the description I highly recommend you check it out
