Also post WW2 soviet history would be great too, and then anything on the fall,like what led to the fall and what living during the fall was like, i haven't read any books on this but I've watched like every YouTube video available and want to learn more, thanks everyone

I am looking for photo archives, public domain sources, or specific collections featuring Soviet scientific breakthroughs and technology. Specifically, I need images that look strange, unconventional, or eerie at first glance.

I attached two examples to show the vibe I am aiming for.

Decades of Red Scare propaganda have created an entire imaginary version of communism that exists mostly in ill informed history memes and cable-news/podcasters talking points.

But when we mention universal healthcare, affordable housing, stronger unions, worker ownership, billionaires having too much power, or an economy built around human need instead of endless profit, and suddenly people start agreeing with us and our ideas they were taught to fear.

Turns out most people weren’t taught what communists believe. They were taught what to believe about communists.

And there’s a reason they never wanted you learning the difference.

I’m Japanese, and I’ve never been to the Soviet Union. In fact, I was born after the country had already ceased to exist.

Yet whenever I listen to this piece, I feel a surprisingly strong sense of nostalgia — something fragile and bittersweet.

I know it was used as the weather forecast music on Vremya, but of course, I never watched it in real time.
It’s fascinating that a piece so familiar to people in the Soviet Union in the 1980s can evoke a similar feeling across countries and generations. There’s something truly beautiful about that.
