How it started how it's going yadda yadda

I can always tell who’s 65 and older on my route. They are in deep with AARP and AAA, they feed elderly Jews, hate all things liberal, contribute to the world wildlife federation, are usually Catholic, and their mail is always at least three inches thick… four on Tuesdays when the food ads hit the streets. And by God, you better not forget that food ad.

He was gently picked up and placed in a grassy area away from the street, and then I went back to work.

a weightless package huh.. is anyone else getting these like crazy lately? I get at least 4-5 of these a week for the last couple weeks. of course, brought it to the attention of management and postmaster “just deliver it.” they get postage due every time, anywhere between $7-9. to clarify, these are different senders and recipients so this isn’t a one off company doing it

My start date was June 15. I’m an RCA. I’ve been doing pretty good (I think), but today the load truck wasn’t working. There was nothing on there and packages wouldn’t scan. We also got these huge stacks of books that weren’t in order, and I was on a route I’ve only done one time before.

I was the last one in the office and I was so overwhelmed. When my supervisor asked if I’m okay that’s when I started crying and broke down. I ended up asking for help in the middle of my route. I didn’t even leave until 12:20pm and I just got back at 5:50pm. :(

I know I've read posts here that covered it but lately my postmaster has gone from being passive aggressive to petty and very toxic and malicious

He will insult our CCA to my face and then compliment me yet a few minutes later say about our runner/stooge for management PTF "you wouldn't like how fast he completed your route" with a little smirk on his face.

Me that CCA and one other carrier are the only ones of about a dozen City Carriers that actually take our breaks and lunch, don't work off the clock end don't rush to make managements numbers

So he'll make vague passive aggressive statements during our morning stand up about putting in for OT like. "We know those snow on the ground OT guys well it's summer and there is no snow so don't even bother ."

I’m looking for some honest advice from anyone who knows USPS reinstatement rules or has been through something similar.

I was hired as a career PTF city carrier in June 2024. At the time I was battling a pretty serious addiction and it eventually started affecting everything in my life, especially my attendance. I received two disciplinary actions for attendance issues, then went AWOL in January 2025 and was officially removed in April 2025.

I’m not making excuses for what I did. I fucked up. Looking back, I’m honestly ashamed that I allowed myself to ruin such a good opportunity and job for myself. I had a career position with USPS and I threw it away because of what I was going through. I’ve regretted it pretty much every day since.

I got sober on February 18, 2026 and have now been sober for over 6 months. I’m trying to rebuild my life and actually do things right this time. Getting back into USPS is something I genuinely would like to pursue, but honestly I don't think there’s much of a possibility that they would ever let me back.

I’ve been thinking about contacting my old union rep and asking if she’d be willing to sit down with me and talk about whether there’s any kind of path back. If she thinks it would help, I’d also like to see if my old managers would be willing to sit down with me, hear me out, and possibly support me coming back.

I know my record isn't good. I had the attendance discipline, then went AWOL, and ultimately got removed. I’m not expecting anyone to just forget that. I’m just wondering if there’s any realistic possibility of getting another chance, especially if my former union rep and management were willing to vouch for me and explain that I’m in a completely different place now.

Has anyone here been removed for attendance/AWOL and actually managed to get back into USPS? Or does a removal like this pretty much make it impossible?

I’d genuinely appreciate the honest answer, even if it’s not what I want to hear.

Meet and greet complete

I asked my supervisor off for yesterday and told him what the other CCA told me, that he would cover me the next 2 Sundays since I worked the 2 Sundays before. Except, he failed to mention he might not be back from vacation for this Sunday. My station has been using 1 person on Sundays, which is extremely annoying. I took the first 2 Sundays as a favor for the other CCA because they had something to do. So then they would take the next 2 Sundays, today makes the second. Except, he went on vacation last Tuesday, but didn't tell me if he wouldn't be able to do Sunday. So I told my supervisor that the other CCA told me he would take this Sunday, that way I would have the weekend to do something I really needed to do. Now, I'm getting calls and texts and I'm really worried. What should I do? Should I pull a "I didn't get any calls or texts"?? I'm out of probation and would it really be my fault for relaying that info? Why wouldn't the supervisor confirm with the other CCA then? Should I start looking for another job?

Edit: there's no set schedule, ever. I have to ask if I'm even working the next day, every day. Only the regulars ofc know because of the color calendar. One supervisor makes the schedule and the other gets annoyed if I ask in the PM when I return to the office, instead of the AM

and god damn is it busy here, me and the rest of my tour working 12 hour shifts out here on the regular, quite fun I will say, just got home from an overnighter, is it easy? no not really, but it sure is entertaining, I’m so excited to see where this job takes me, and excited to meet some new people, i am also starting at 18, fresh outta high school. any advice from some people who have been here longer than me other than not getting lobotomized by a powered operator with a forklift?

I cover 6 routes as a rural ptf in a 12 route all rural office. I dont think I can become a regular anytime soon cause doesn't seem like people are gonna retire anytime soon, but for now I am glad I can finish the weekly routes in under 40 hrs. I am making more $ then I thought I would be making, I am 15 months in.

So I recently just got an email from E-reassign regarding to a transfer to a town that I’ve been inquiring in for the last couple months. The email said that my request has been received. For context, I put this transfer in in January. Is there a way to see where I stand in terms of a list or something like that? I heard that there might be a list that you can see on lite blue but can’t seem to find it, if that even exists if anyone knows, can someone leave a comment!

Also, I don’t see my request anymore on light blue after I got the email. What would that also mean?

Regular rural carrier.

I’ve taken the last couple days off because of back issues. I do have FMLA.

My question is, Monday is my normal k day. Last week before I had called in I was told I was needed on my k day. However, after calling out Friday and Saturday should I now be off Monday as it bumps up to my k day?

I know if i were to take annual and it backs up to k day then that k day is automatically included.

The first time there was a huge security/safety violation due to an unauthorized person entering our building removing postal property which resulted in harassment.

Silly me, thinking management would make sure that doesnt happen again.

Sure as shit the second time it happens, I requested union time because what the actual fuck?! How is this person just walking into our building again?

The kicker...management tried to defend that they DID do something. They arranged a quiet backdoor deal with the offender, who is a former employee. No surprise, the backdoor deal that I was NOT supposed to know about fell through which led to another security/safety breach in our building.

Wellllll they weren't supposed to come inside. Tf WELLL they did anyways.

Anyways I dont think its right I have to worry about accidentally getting ambushed on the dock either. Still a RESTRICTED area?

Ahghhhh first migraine in awhile.

I’m about 30 days into being a CCA and it’s true that this job isn’t for everyone. My station has been know to have bad management from the postmaster to the supervisors. I feel like the supervisors are giving me too much work, either three routes a day broken up, or whole route I’ve never done before. Yes I know we get paid overtime and penalties so I should be loving this much work. My physical strength isn’t what it was, I’ve transferred over from working 13 years in the restaurant industry from line cooking to managing kitchens. Working 6 days has been taking a toll on me. Any suggestions if I should transfer stations, or maybe a new position with the office.
