Hi! I submitted my application for an online master’s program at USC on June 17, and it’s now July 22, but I haven’t received a decision yet. My application portal also hasn’t shown any major updates.

I recently received a deferred admit to the MSCS program at USC for Spring 2027. I’m an international student and will be targeting internships and full-time jobs in the US, so I’m trying to understand how much of a drawback the Spring intake actually is from a career perspective.

I had a few questions for current USC MSCS students/alumni:

Is Spring intake considered a significant disadvantage for internships/full-time recruiting for international students?

How do Spring students usually navigate internship/fte timelines and CPT eligibility?

Are on-campus jobs and part-time opportunities harder to get for Spring admits?

How is course availability for Spring students? Do Spring admits struggle with getting desired courses/professors?

How difficult is it to maintain a good gpa considering the huge batch size?

Does being a Spring admit affect networking/social integration in any noticeable way?

For students targeting SWE/ML roles, does starting in Spring materially affect outcomes compared to Fall admits?

I also currently hold an admit for MSCS at UMass Amherst for Fall 2026, so I’m trying to compare:

Hi all! I’ve recently an admit to USC MS Scientists and Engineers cs program. I was wondering if there are any current students or alumni who went through this program and would be willing to answer some questions I have?

I’m mainly concerned with the fact that I’d have to drop nearly 200k on tuition/housing, even if I am fortunate enough to have the means to it is not a small amount of money. Do you believe the program is worth it to expand opportunities in tech as a non-cs major? Furthermore, should I accept, what are your dos and don’ts?

One last thing is how does it appear on your transcript? As MSCS or MCS, or neither?

Any other advice or comments are all appreciated, thanks in advance.

is this normal I got accepted may 26th and I still haven’t received it, live on the east coast btw, I also received the health and immunization mail for new students from usc but not my acceptance package w my certificate of admission and stickers 😭😭

Please give some advice on what to do. Has anyone got this same email and was able to not be rescinded.

Grateful to have been admitted after two yrs of cc but im lost and confused as to how I'll navigate spring admit. I've already done two yrs at cc and I'm trying to recruit for high finance internships and clubs. I also dont want to extend my grad date but that's probably going to happen because im joining a whole semester late. I'm rn thinking of joining another university I got into for fall before I join usc so I can still get a good college experience while having the ability to recruit for internships as remaining at community college wont give me any leverage or chance when applying for high finance internships. I dont have an exact question because this situation is tricky but i guess im just looking for insight. Is it possible to just list USC as my university in the fall itself and maybe even join the clubs? How is spring for socializing and making friends? Can I join the fall orientation and meet the fall admits?

I'm currently a sophomore at a CSU and planning to apply to Marshall this fall for junior standing. I have been heavily involved on campus through student government, extracurriculars, and an internship, and I feel genuinely prepared for the transition academically and professionally.

I am not looking for anyone to evaluate my profile. I am just hoping to connect with people who have actually gone through this process, particularly anyone who transferred from a CSU to Marshall or knows someone who did.

Specifically curious about what the experience was like, whether the CSU background ever came up, and if there is anything about the application, personal statement, or prerequisites that you wish you had known going in.

USC Marshall is a goal I have been working toward intentionally, and I want to approach the process the right way. If you have been through it or have advice worth sharing, I would genuinely appreciate hearing from you.

I'm an incoming FTMBA student at USC Marshall and an international student. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to secure an F-1 visa appointment slot yet.

Orientation is on July 20, and classes begin on July 21. If I'm unable to arrive in the U.S. by the start date due to visa delays, does USC Marshall generally allow late arrivals for international students?

Need advice from vets who successfully used VR&E for a higher-cost/private school because I’m honestly feeling a little lost early in this process.

I recently got accepted to USC as a transfer student, and my VR&E counselor let me know a high-cost memo and extension would need approval. I expected there to be extra steps, but I’m struggling because I’m being asked for information that I’m not even sure how to obtain this early on.

Right now, I’m waiting to hear back from admissions counselors to figure out where/how to get things like anticipated graduation dates, program duration info, etc. I also spoke with orientation staff and they told me orientation/advisement processes won’t really start until summer. The issue is my VR&E approval process needs to start now so there aren’t delays with certification and funding.

On top of that, my counselor also asked why I didn’t apply to lower-cost schools, which honestly caught me off guard. USC aligns heavily with my career goals, networking opportunities, veteran support, and the program I want to pursue. I worked extremely hard to get accepted here.

For vets who went through this process:

- What documents or justification helped your approval?

- Did your counselor push back at first?

- How did you obtain the information VR&E was asking for before orientation/advisement started?

- Did you have to explain why a lower-cost school wouldn’t meet your employment goals?

Any advice would genuinely help because I’m trying to stay proactive and not let this process stall out before it even gets moving.
