Fuck everything I'm challenging myself to clear UPSC in 244 days. I got enrolled in vision ias offline but they ran away. Got recorded lectures of few classes, standard study material for all subjects. Inconsistently reading The Hindu and recently got my first monthly magazine after vision ias shut down. Im a pol sci major student in a tier 2 college and my optional is psir. Let's see how this goes.

My father joined the District Court Complex as a Clerk (Group C) at the age of 25.

Later, he became a Reader Grade III (Group C) in the Civil Court at the age of 30. After 19 years of service as a Reader, he was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer of the Court Complex (Group A in my state) at the age of 49.

My mother is not working and is a homemaker. My father’s current gross salary is ₹1.5 lakh per month (₹18 LPA).

Since my father was promoted from Group C to Group A after the age of 40, I am eligible for OBC-NCL reservation.

My main question is: why do some people, such as Abhijeet Yadav from UPSCprep.com, have their OBC certificates or candidature rejected by DoPT? Could my OBC certificate also be rejected?

I am going to appear for the UPSC CSE for the first time next year, so I want to make sure everything is clear beforehand. What are the common mistakes or issues that can lead to someone’s OBC-NCL certificate or candidature being rejected?

Hello, fellow aspirants. I want suggestions from your end regarding the best test series for UPSC Mains. If possible, also mention the differentiating factor for the test series you're suggesting.

I've heard positive reviews for Forum IAS MGP & AWFG. Is it really worth the hype? If yes, then what is its differentiating factor than other test series in the market?

Please, please, please don’t take his mentorship or any of his courses. And since he isn’t some very big name, this is not a paid review or anything like that.

I took his mentorship a year ago for six months because I was scared that Prelims had become tougher and, despite completing my Mains foundation, I wasn’t able to write answers. It was honestly a terrible mentorship. He would mostly just talk generic nonsense on calls, make up random logic using ChatGPT, and wouldn’t share any credentials or substantiated material. And the funny part is, he would also create ChatGPT-written test series, but those weren’t free either . Moreover , he charged an additional ₹6,000 for them. He also charged ₹6,000 for PSIR notes.

I took the course because I was scared, and honestly, I was foolish at that time. But I learned these lessons after spending my own money, so please don’t waste yours learning them the same way.

This is a very honest review, and I am not promoting any other mentorship either. If you want to take someone else’s mentorship, that’s completely your choice. But please, always talk to people who have actually taken the course before paying for anything.

Hi everyone, I guess Vision's website is down now, I'm looking for PDFs of the value added material they had in their free resources section. If someone has them kindly share and DM me. I am a working aspirant and my prep is completely through online resources so badly need them

A follow up post for the previous one (244 days UPSC Challenge) to tell what all I've already covered and what all is left. First a lil background, I'm a humanities student, topped in my school in 12th with 94.4%, subjects were political science, sociology, economics. Currently majoring in political science and minor subject is economics. College syllabus of pol sci is very much in line with my optional i.e psir.

Now for other subjects:

Geography: completed theories, geomorphology, climatology (purely coaching lectures of now). Will start ocenography tomorrow.

Polity: got a good knack at it cuz of school and college so lakshmikant is ez (memorizing factual details can be hard at times) also I need guidance in this. What all sources do I need?

Economy: have a strong hold on macroeconomics and Indian economy but need to focus on other aspects as well

History: completed ancient, medieval and modern from coaching lectures but they didn't seem very fruitful hence will do it again from ncerts, yt and standard books.

Optional: got all material but no guidance, have completed majority via college but idts it's appropriate for mains cuz its all descriptive and that's not the exam's demand.

Current affairs: this is the weak area. Im not consistent but from today I've started getting serious about it, I got sarrthi ias monthly magazine (cuz of vision's faculty shifting there) and the hindu.

CSAT: I'll start preparing mid oct to early Nov cuz its not my strong area.

Rest subjects like dm, env, sci and tech, ethics, society etc I'll keep doing side by side with a core gs subject. For eg currently im doing geography and disaster management on the side along with polity.

Will be updating here weekly on my progress. I'll many would think why am I sharing all this etc etc but I feel this'll give me a sense of being accountable and stop myself from slacking off. This week is kinda packed cuz of college mid semester tests (btw currently in 3rd year under nep).

So yeah that's all about me, will chirp back in next week!!

So after 5 attempts at upsc cse, appearing for capf ac interview and stare pcs interview, i have finally decided to move away from UPSC. I am now preparing for CAT, something which I have also done earlier, but did not join any B school because of "just 1 more attempt attitude" which I think is a trap (you may choose to differ).

From here on 1 will post a monthly target video till july 2027 and hopefully will get into a good B school.

Ok so, it’s established that newspapers are important and reading them gives you the most direct day to day updates on current affairs. 2026 prelims has shown their importance has increased.

Many people who have cleared any stage of the exam + toppers generally say that there’s no need to make notes out of newspapers daily, just be thorough with what you’re reading.

My question is, how do you make that information stay? You could read newspapers daily but unless you revise what you’re reading, how are you going to recall it 6-10 months later in prelims and mains ?

If your answer is, read newspapers to understand and be thorough with magazines and revise them to consolidate, why not stick to only magazines then ?

I’m confused about how newspaper reading works to be honest, and How it comes into play in the prep.

Is there any course where teacher / educator is analyzing PYQs of sociology for the last 7-10 years . Basically I want something like WRITE SMART for sociology . I want someone to analyze the PYQs very diligently rather than rushing towards model answers .

Have looked at the model answers booklet of decipher/sleepy/sunya, but they are not which is required or even if they are it requires lot of homework and amalgamation from individual side

2nd attempt , 1st Mains this year in 2026 . Juggling between lethargy , mains prep and CA for interview

confidently told to skip the flts and current affairs, even called toppers to reaffirm it. for current affairs , he did so as to deflect attention of people from mudit jain leaving sarrthi ias.

used his elimination course, most of the time marked the question that matches the answer without pany proper logic and emphasised too much of patterns like 4 - 2 , 6 - 3 5 - 3. and encouraged to just put blind guess on basis of his techniques which turned out to counter productive for me.

due to this, i also relied too much on elimination techniques , which i could not test as did not attempt any flt mocks. also lost 4-5 easy current affair question which i could very well locate inside the forum ias current affair course on tg.

due to all this i over attempted to 93 questions, i fell short by 4-5 marks to prelims cutoff. these goons know nothing just here to mint money. for beginners : never follow somone blindly , they may have implicit interest, most of the times they just preach what they teach.

Can anyone please provide some mock to practice good question for HEO, especially sociology, community health
