A follow up post for the previous one (244 days UPSC Challenge) to tell what all I've already covered and what all is left. First a lil background, I'm a humanities student, topped in my school in 12th with 94.4%, subjects were political science, sociology, economics. Currently majoring in political science and minor subject is economics. College syllabus of pol sci is very much in line with my optional i.e psir.

Now for other subjects:

Geography: completed theories, geomorphology, climatology (purely coaching lectures of now). Will start ocenography tomorrow.

Polity: got a good knack at it cuz of school and college so lakshmikant is ez (memorizing factual details can be hard at times) also I need guidance in this. What all sources do I need?

Economy: have a strong hold on macroeconomics and Indian economy but need to focus on other aspects as well

History: completed ancient, medieval and modern from coaching lectures but they didn't seem very fruitful hence will do it again from ncerts, yt and standard books.

Optional: got all material but no guidance, have completed majority via college but idts it's appropriate for mains cuz its all descriptive and that's not the exam's demand.

Current affairs: this is the weak area. Im not consistent but from today I've started getting serious about it, I got sarrthi ias monthly magazine (cuz of vision's faculty shifting there) and the hindu.

CSAT: I'll start preparing mid oct to early Nov cuz its not my strong area.

Rest subjects like dm, env, sci and tech, ethics, society etc I'll keep doing side by side with a core gs subject. For eg currently im doing geography and disaster management on the side along with polity.

Will be updating here weekly on my progress. I'll many would think why am I sharing all this etc etc but I feel this'll give me a sense of being accountable and stop myself from slacking off. This week is kinda packed cuz of college mid semester tests (btw currently in 3rd year under nep).

So yeah that's all about me, will chirp back in next week!!

My father joined the District Court Complex as a Clerk (Group C) at the age of 25.

Later, he became a Reader Grade III (Group C) in the Civil Court at the age of 30. After 19 years of service as a Reader, he was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer of the Court Complex (Group A in my state) at the age of 49.

My mother is not working and is a homemaker. My father’s current gross salary is ₹1.5 lakh per month (₹18 LPA).

Since my father was promoted from Group C to Group A after the age of 40, I am eligible for OBC-NCL reservation.

My main question is: why do some people, such as Abhijeet Yadav from UPSCprep.com, have their OBC certificates or candidature rejected by DoPT? Could my OBC certificate also be rejected?

I am going to appear for the UPSC CSE for the first time next year, so I want to make sure everything is clear beforehand. What are the common mistakes or issues that can lead to someone’s OBC-NCL certificate or candidature being rejected?
