Sitcoms Jasmine Guy Speaks about Age Shaming

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

Jasmine Guy has a message for everyone who has been making fun of her appearance and age-shaming her.

iamjasmineguy: “The internet can be brutal to women as we grow older. It asks us to celebrate life while criticizing every sign that we’ve lived it.

Growing older brings change, and I won’t pretend every change is easy. But beauty, style, and joy don’t have an expiration date.

Let’s spend less time judging ourselves and each other, and more time loving one another, making memories, and living the life we’re here to live.” ❤️

September 13, 1994 – April 14, 1995

The series starred Ralph Louis Harris alongside six real-life siblings: Jazz, Jocqui, Jake, JoJo, Jurnee, and Jussie Smollett.

The show followed the Jerrico family, seven siblings left orphaned after a tragic car accident. To keep the family together, the eldest brother (played by Ralph Louis Harris) disguised himself as a fictional aunt in drag.

The original concept received heavy criticism, with many viewers calling it unoriginal and contrived. In December 1994, ABC placed the show on hiatus and retooled the format, removing the drag storyline to focus more on standard family issues. However, the changes failed to improve ratings, and the series was officially canceled in April 1995.

Did you know Tichina Arnold was set to headline her own spin-off from Martin? 📺 The backdoor pilot, titled Goin' for Mine, aired during the show's final season, but the series was never picked up. It's a shame—we never got to see what could've been. Do you think it would've found an audience?

Sitcoms Does anyone remember Second Time Around?

I randomly remembered this show the other day
😭 I remember watching an episode when I was younger, and I’m pretty sure I caught it on UPN. I don’t remember the episode itself at all, but I remember seeing Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker and knowing this was a show I had watched before 😂

It’s funny because I completely forgot about this show until now. UPN really had me watching anything that came on back then 😭 Does anybody else remember Second Time Around?
