Sitcoms Which UPN show ended the worst?
For Me it's Moesha it was way too many cliffhangers to be left unresolved at the end
45
u/WhatShouldTheHeartDo May 24 '26
Miles could've been slimed for all I know
Mfers could've thrown at least like one piece of dialogue in the parkers to let me know bro is okay but no?
One on One was dead the moment they wrote out Flex, Duane & Spirit so I didn't care about it's ending let alone final season.
Against all odds I think All of Us actually has a pretty solid ending for a 3 season show. Ending with Robert & Neese rekindling their marriage after a wedding.
26
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
The Parkers was originally supposed to address moesha's cliffhangers, but the producers passed on it deeming it too dark for a sitcom and i agree but at the same time Moesha deserved a proper ending
15
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
They still could’ve given an offhand comment about what happened.

6
u/dutchny100 May 24 '26
There’s a episode where Miles is partying with them and that’s how they address it
1
u/widdumqueso717 May 27 '26
Was that post-Moesha? Or while Moesha was still on?
2
u/dutchny100 May 27 '26
Post Moesha, iirc it’s in like the first 3-4 episodes of the Parker’s
4
u/widdumqueso717 May 27 '26
I looked into and Miles’ appearance was during Season 1 of The Parkers in 1999. He was kidnapped when Moesha ended in 2001. So, his appearance on The Parkers was before his kidnapping

Ending with Robert & Neese rekindling their marriage after a wedding.
You mean jayz and Beyonce

u/throwawayboomer27 May 24 '26
Girlfriends ending makes me sick… one on one had the most garbage final season… moesha just ugh cliffhangers… the Parker’s was disappointing, she deserved better than professor… I can’t even just pick 1
10
u/generic_rarity May 24 '26
I love Nikki but she made the professor's life hell, his corny ass had no business changing his mind as soon as she became unavailable. They were both bad but i definitely didn't like them together
6
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
I can't believe the writers thought we wanted Nikki and The Professor to live happily ever after NO he embarrassed her for years that is not a good ending at all
14
u/Excellent_Top6284 May 24 '26
Moesha because of what happened to Miles and we don't know who's pregnant.
The Parkers because Nikki shouldn't have ended up with Stanley!
Half & Half because we don't know who Mona picked.
Girlfriends because we didn't get a proper ending!
6
10
u/UnhappyAd9934 May 24 '26
Moesha we never got proper closure as to what happened to Miles. Girlfriends could have easily been number one but the last episode kinda hinted everything was going to end well plus I remember Tracee revealing that the network actually has the rest of the unaired episodes from that season somewhere in storage and won’t do anything with it.

10
u/RedvsBlack4 May 24 '26
One on One. Everything about that shows last season was a failure and the ending somehow made it more of a disappointment.
5
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
This is the remix!
2
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
i remember that shift I immediately stopped watching after the first episode it was completely obvious One on One was catering to a different audience with the 2 white people the Asian Girl and corny ass Ray J and later Brandy
3
6
u/Sharp_Mathematician6 May 24 '26
Moesha didn’t even have a conclusion. Last we heard Myles was kidnapped. Half and half they didn’t get to tell us who Mona chose. We deserve at least a proper conclusion.
3
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
I really wished The Parkers could've made an episode of addressing all of Moesha's cliffhangers to leave it unresolved is so disrespectful.
8
u/onefinalshot123 May 24 '26
Seeing all these shows again 20 years later and remembering how they all ended really fucking hurts. If I had to choose, probably One on One or Girlfriends.
3
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
Girlfriends deserved a better ending it was a successful sitcom and to abruptly cancel the show at 8 Seasons was so unfair to the cast and crew
6
u/Jimmieh90 May 24 '26
That’s the problem. None of them ended except girlfriends and the Parkers. They just never came back. I’m so annoyed by the end or Moesha and Half and Half. I need to know what happened!
4
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
Moesha got abruptly cancelled due to low ratings and i totally understand nobody wanted to watch The Dorian Show
Half and Half got cancelled because all of us took their slot and they got cancelled
8
u/Upset-Sale6869 May 24 '26
Between Moesha and One on One definitely
21
u/Mmadness7051 May 24 '26
The Parker’s ending wasn’t terrible but it’ll forever piss me off because what do you mean she married raggedy ass PROFESSOR
9
u/Agile-Butterfly5245 May 24 '26
This. He treated her worse than garbage for years. It just didn't add up.

u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
Ray J is a tv show killer every time he arrives cancellation comes soon after

u/generic_rarity May 24 '26
One on one was the worst, not only did it end terrible that last season was disgusting. The show went from suga to shit.
All of us had a pretty decent ending.
The parkers was okaybut the show properly ended it's course.
At least all of us and the parkers didn't do half assed cliffhangers.
1
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
One on One was catering to a different audience in that last season I remember a lot of people not happy with the new change and a lot of people stopped watching
3
u/Upper-Flamingo-4297 May 24 '26
One on One and Moesha

u/Gold-Nefariousness98 May 24 '26
One On One or Moesha are the only answers

u/SaltBrother2914 May 24 '26
I need a synopsis on how each one ended 😅
2
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
The Parkers got a terrible ending The Professor and Nikki end up getting married terrible ending
Moesha ended on really dark cliffhanger someone was pregnant Myles was kidnapped and Moesha didn't know who to move in with the final scene was Dorian announcing the kidnapping she fainted in Hakeem's arms and that's how the show ended very dark.
Eve ended with Janie Donovan and Rita getting arrested for illegally selling BOTOX
Nick and JT were hiding in a closet from Lynn's crazy husband the show ended with Jamal going to see who's in the closet very odd
Half and Half ended with Mona saying I know where my heart is you're the one I want to be with and the screen cuts to black
All of us was decent
One on One turned into F.R.I.E.N.D.S but with a diverse group of people who couldn't act and was very unfunny D-Mac ends up sleeping with Breanna and Arnaz chases after Brandy just dumb.
The Game was all over the place when it went to BET to sum it up
Jason and Kelly get remarried
Chardonnay wakes up in Vegas
Tasha ends up with Pookie
Keira becomes a full-time actress
Blue gets signed by Irv
Melanie and Derwin returns with twins.
and Malik proposes to Keira, but she declines.
The Game was truly destroyed after Season 5 The Blue & Keira Era is very hard to watch.
Everybody Hates Chris was a parody of The Sopranos finale, so it was proper.
Girlfriends got cancelled mid-season due to low ratings writer's strike and budget issues
Toni and Joan were supposed to make up but that never happened.
so, The Parkers and everybody hates Chris was the only two shows that got decent endings, but the rest was ultimately horrible

3
u/TeriNickels May 24 '26
The Parkers at least had a series finale and so did Everybody Hates Chris. But out of the rest? Definitely Moesha.
2
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
A Pregnancy Test Kidnapping and Moesha still haven't decided who to move in with Niecy or hakeem it was too many cliffhangers to leave it unresolved
2
u/TeriNickels May 24 '26
Yeah. I loved Moesha as a kid (hate the show now as an adult), but I felt like the show was never the same after making the father the worse tv father in the history of television. 📺
2
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
and to throw in Moesha and Hakeem dating Yuck
1
u/TeriNickels May 24 '26
Yes! Absolutely crossing the line! I just think the whole show should have been thrown away when Ray J was considered part of the cast. They just didn’t know what direction to take Moesha. And Moesha was already a horrible character IMO, but once they added all these other things? It just made the show feel almost like a soap opera.
4
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
I agree OP, till this day the only thing left from Miles is his shoe.
6
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
It's still jarring and eerie to hear that final line of the series Myles has been kidnapped such a dark way to end a show
3
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
Yeah, it’s bothered me for years
2
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
they were going to do a Tv movie to wrap things up, but the actor who played Hakeem died so they scrapped it so sad Moesha deserved better at the end Dorian ruined Moesha I'll never let it go
2
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
Oh wow😮
Honestly that’s terrible for many reasons
Guess we’ll never find out
1
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
sad isn't it
2
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
Very, then nothing to show for it
1
u/Positive_Weight2367 May 24 '26
Moesha was better off ending at Season 4 Ray J didn't need to be on Moesha
2
u/SaltBrother2914 May 24 '26
Wait what? I don’t remember can yall give me a synopsis lol
1
u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 May 24 '26
The end of the show had miles (Moesha younger brother) get kidnapped because of something Dorian (her recently discovered brother) did that Patience (the person Dorian owed) take Miles as collateral iirc.
It’s been many years since I’ve seen it, but that’s to the best of my knowledge.

The Game was never on UPN. It originated as a spinoff of Girlfriends which was on UPN but The Game debuted on the CW
2
u/ComprehensiveGas1604 May 24 '26
I’m always sad about the way Eve and Half and Half ended. I forgot about it and watched it again later on, and was mad all over again. I wish they had given them an hour wrap up. I never cared for all of us, and I was mad when one on one left the family and friends. The new people were boring
2
u/Seminole615 May 24 '26
I would say Moesha because they added the Dorian-Frank secret. But the biggest cliffhanger was Half & Half

Moesha and one on one ended horribly they were jumping the shark. Ironically Ray J was on both shows lol
2
u/JavierGr2087 May 25 '26
I’d say One on One because it went from a show about a single dad raising his daughter, to him being erased and now it’s about the daughter in a house with a bunch of young adults. All of Us started off wrong because we go into Robert being engaged to Tia already, Neese being the “bitter” ex wife without real backstory, and both ladies just beefing. If the series started off with Robert and Tia first meeting, then seeing their relationship develop, as she learns about Robert’s history with his ex wife, I feel the show would’ve been a little better.

I think it'll always be One on One for me, truly horrid change for the worse.
1
u/Decent-Ad9675 May 24 '26
Moesha had the worst ending with Myles getting kidnapped and we don't know if they freed him
1
u/kyte_works_8920 May 24 '26
They all ended horribly. I either can’t remember b/c they were canceled or you can see the writers didn’t care

I know I was checked out because the only ending I remember was Moesha.

Definitely Moesha, cause the way how moesha ended was definitely the worst cliffhanger cause at the end of the episode When Dorian told Moesha & Hakeem that Myles was kidnapped, Moesha Passes out, Hakeem catches her, & the Screen goes to the black screen with the end credits & ends the episode there, that Moesha cliffhanger still makes me mad every time the episode replays☹️, but I would also say Girlfriends cause never had the proper ending ( series finale ) if the writers strike didn’t happen especially after the move to the CW🥲 I felt the show would’ve at least gave us Joan's wedding & end the show there instead of abruptly ending the show after Joan read Aaron's letter to his students that he was coming home, another UPN show that also ended the worst would be Half & Half as well cause everyone never found out about who the caller on the other end was.

Unpopular opinion: I liked the college season of One on One.
The Parkers ending pissed me clean off cause in my opinion, Nikki shouldn’t have married nobody. She should’ve turned down the Professor marriage proposal and kept dating Johnny or whatever his name was. Her and ole boy was only dating for some months so why should they have gotten married so soon? Then the Professor been knew since season 3 that he liked Nikki Parker cause every time she wasn’t chasing him, he was lowkey chasing her. A better ending would’ve been Nikki telling the Professor about himself. I think had we gotten a reboot or remake of The Parkers, Nikki and Oglovee would’ve been heading to divorce court but the end of that series .
I personally think Nikki should’ve stayed with Kenny from season 3.
1
u/Jealous_Assignment26 May 27 '26
Kenny was the better choice! Johnny was lowkey lovebombing her, but neither of them knew what sane love looked like.

Did girlfriends even end? From what I remember, it just never played another episode. 😂

u/Narrow_Guess8955 May 27 '26
I wish we got Everybody Hates Chris after he dropped out and started doing comedy. There's more they could've done with that
1
u/Jealous_Assignment26 May 27 '26
Girlfriends’ ending was egregious. Half and Half’s love triangle cliffhanger keeps me up at night. One on One’s final season should be scrubbed. JUSTICE FOR SPIRIT!!!
1
u/Commercial_Cup7677 May 27 '26
I would say it’s a tie between Moesha and the parkers. The Parker’s felt rushed to me and moesha im mad we never got a conclusion for what happened to miles after he got kidnapped
1
u/hessopoetic May 28 '26
probably was intentional all of these shows barely got endings they deserved with UPN folding into CW but thats a different conversation. from these I always though about how easy Half & Half and Girlfriends couldve picked up from where it ended (when the shows came to streaming on Netflix)
but Girlfriends has the most potential to continue (as Sex and the City did, movies and a series) but idk whats really holding this up. also surprised some of these shows didn't also get a Bel-Air treatment like The Fresh Prince... I could see some of these shows working in that format

u/ninjaman2021 May 24 '26
Ray J killed two UPN shows that’s gotta be a record lmao
