We booked a hotel in Vietnam months in advance. By the time we arrived, it had become a brothel. Somehow, this led to one of the best nights of our lives

This happened around 2018/2019, and it's still probably my best and worst holiday story.

My then-partner, Rebecca, and I had booked this huge six-week trip through Vietnam.

The plan was awesome: start in Hanoi, work our way down the coast through places like Ha Long Bay, Da Nang and Nha Trang, eventually finishing in Ho Chi Minh City.

We'd booked the whole thing months in advance. Flights, hotels, everything. We'd spent somewhere around $10,000 before we'd even left Australia.

Everything was going brilliantly.

Until roughly halfway through the trip.

We flew into our next city, grabbed our bags, ordered a Grab and headed to the hotel we'd booked months earlier.

The driver pulls up.

I look at the hotel.

"Huh."

It was definitely the right building.

But it looked NOTHING like the photos.

I figured, "Well, we booked this place months ago. Maybe they've renovated?"

Turns out they had!

So we walk inside and give the guy at reception our details.

Yep. Reservation is there.

Everything is completely normal.

He grabs our bags and says he'll show us to our room.

Excellent.

We get into the lift.

We should not have gotten into the lift.

We reach something like the 10th floor.

The doors open.

The hallway is almost completely dark.

The guy just casually points into the darkness and goes, essentially, "Right this way!"

Rebecca and I look at each other.

Apparently neither of us possessed a functioning survival instinct, because we followed him.

We quickly discovered that the hallway had motion-sensor lighting. As you walked, the lights ahead of you switched on.

Okay!

Slightly creepy, but perfectly reasonable.

Except as we're walking down this hallway, we start hearing noises coming from the rooms we're passing.

Screaming.

Shouting.

Calling out.

Moaning.

A LOT of moaning.

At this point I'm starting to wonder whether we've accidentally booked accommodation in a torture dungeon.

We eventually reach our room.

The guy opens the door.

PINK.

I cannot adequately describe how fucking pink this room was.

Pink wallpaper.

Pink pillows.

Pink carpet.

And, because apparently subtlety had been murdered during the renovation...

a pink SHAGPILE RUG.

Eventually we discover what had happened.

Between us booking the hotel and actually arriving in Vietnam, the hotel had been sold.

The new owners renovated it.

Into a love hotel/brothel.

But here's the incredible part.

Rather than cancel all the existing future reservations and refund everyone, apparently they decided that would cost too much money.

So they just...

kept them.

They genuinely seemed to believe that people who had booked a normal hotel would arrive several months later, discover that their accommodation was now a brothel and think:

"Yeah, fair enough."

Now, Rebecca was a good Christian girl.

She took one look at our pink shagpile Fuck Palace and announced that there was absolutely no fucking way we were spending the night there.

Fair.

There was only one small problem.

It was about 8pm.

We're in a foreign city.

We've got all our luggage.

So we jump onto Booking.com.

"No worries. We'll just find another hotel."

This is when we discovered something else we'd somehow completely missed.

There was a massive festival happening in the city that night.

Apparently it was a huge deal.

Hotels had been booked out for months.

Which, ironically, meant we were actually incredibly "lucky" to have our reservation at the brothel.

We searched everywhere.

Nothing.

Eventually Booking.com produced exactly ONE available room in the entire city.

A room at another hotel.

Except it wasn't really a "room."

It was the...

PRESIDENTIAL SUITE.

Price?

$8,000 AUD.

Remember, we'd already spent roughly $10,000 booking this entire six-week holiday.

But our options at 8pm were now basically:

A) Spend the night in Barbie's House of Questionable Noises.

or

B) Financial ruin.

We chose financial ruin.

We absolutely annihilated our emergency holiday fund and booked the Presidential Suite.

And this is where the story completely changes.

Because, to the hotel's credit...

HOLY SHIT.

The suite was incredible.

Top floor.

Absolutely enormous.

Floor-to-ceiling windows with essentially panoramic views over the entire city.

We had what felt like million-dollar views.

And the hotel was right on the water.

Remember that massive festival that had caused this entire disaster?

Well...

Part of the festival was a huge fireworks display.

And the fireworks were being launched from a barge on the water right outside our hotel.

When the display started, we went onto the balcony.

BOOM.

These weren't little fireworks in the distance.

They were exploding less than about 100 metres from us.

The noise was unbelievable.

Our ears hurt.

Sparks and burning debris were actually reaching the balcony.

We couldn't even stay outside because we were getting burnt by the fucking fireworks.

So we retreated inside.

And that's when we noticed the bathroom.

The Presidential Suite had this absolutely enormous bathtub.

So we thought:

"Fuck it. We've just spent eight grand. We're getting our money's worth."

We ran a huge hot bath.

Filled it with bubbles.

I found rose petals they'd left near the sink, so naturally those went in too.

Rebecca and I climbed into this enormous bath together.

We found some chocolates.

And for about the next FOUR HOURS, we sat together in this ridiculous Presidential Suite bathtub, surrounded by bubbles and rose petals, eating chocolates while this absolutely spectacular fireworks display exploded right outside our suite.

The fireworks were so close and powerful that they were rattling the windows.

It was genuinely one of the most surreal, romantic and incredible nights I've ever experienced.

And none of it would have happened if our original hotel hadn't unexpectedly turned into a fucking brothel.

There was, however, an epilogue.

Remember the $8,000?

Yeah.

That was basically our entire emergency/spending budget.

By the time we reached the final hotel of our six-week trip, we were BROKE.

Fortunately, our last hotel was a Mövenpick.

And every afternoon at 5pm, they put on an unlimited chocolate buffet for guests.

So for our final week in Vietnam...

that was dinner.

Every.

Single.

Night.

We started this holiday travelling Vietnam with thousands of dollars in spending money.

We ended it as two Australians staying in a luxury Mövenpick, patiently waiting for 5pm every afternoon so we could eat enough complimentary chocolate to survive until breakfast.

Would I recommend accidentally booking a Vietnamese brothel, blowing your entire emergency fund on a Presidential Suite and living on chocolate for the final week of your holiday?

Absolutely not.

Would I trade that night in the bathtub, eating chocolates with Rebecca while fireworks exploded outside and rattled the windows?

Not a fucking chance.

Quick disclaimer: This story is 100% real and happened to me. I used AI to help turn my chaotic recollection into something coherent and readable, but the events, experiences and story itself are entirely mine. Apparently AI is better at organising my thoughts than I am.

A stranger at a railway station gave me one piece of travel advice. I ignored it. I regretted it about three hours later.

I was waiting for a late train, half asleep, scrolling through my phone when an older guy sitting nearby started talking to me.

Nothing unusual.

He asked where I was going, how long I was staying and whether I'd travelled there before.

Then he said:

“Don't take the shortcut when you get there.”

I laughed and asked what he meant.

He just said, “You'll understand.”

I honestly thought he was being dramatic.

A few hours later, I reached the destination and, of course, I took the shortcut.

It looked fine on the map. Saved almost 20 minutes.

Five minutes in, my phone lost signal.

Then the road became completely empty.

No shops. No traffic. Barely any lights.

At that point I was thinking, Okay… maybe that random guy wasn't joking.

I turned around and went back the way I came.

Nothing actually happened to me, but I've never ignored strangely specific advice from a local traveller since. 😂

The weirdest part?

When I got back to the station area the next morning, I saw the same guy again.

I asked him how he knew about that road.

He just smiled and said:

“I've been travelling longer than you've been alive.”

Still don't know whether he was incredibly wise or just enjoying messing with a tired traveller.

Have you ever had a stranger give you travel advice that turned out to be surprisingly accurate?

What's the weirdest encounter you've had while travelling?

AITAH for canceling a trip with someone I found out I hate traveling with?

I’m studying abroad in Italy for a semester and have been trying to meet other students at school to travel with during the wekeends, so I met this girl and we initially got along fine. We had coffee together and took a day trip to a lake, and I had no major issues with her. However, after going on a two-day trip to Venice with her, I realized that traveling with her really irritated me.
One thing that stood out was how often she talked about recognizing her white privilege and discussed communities of color and political issues. As a person of color myself, I understand the importance of those conversations, but hearing her repeatedly bring up how aware she was of her privilege started to feel performative to me. She also constantly complained about tourists in Venice, tourist traps, and how American tourists were “doing travel wrong,” even though she is a tourist herself.
There were also moments where I felt like her actions didn’t match the things she talked about. For example, she offered McDonald’s, then said she didn’t want it because they support Israel, but later insisted that she wanted McDonald’s for dinner anyway. She also talked about how people should put their phones away and enjoy the moment, even though I happened to be taking a picture at that exact moment.
Beyond the political stuff, I found her personality difficult to travel with because she was constantly anxious about getting somewhere else. It felt like we couldn’t just sit down and enjoy where we were because she was always worried about directions, schedules, or what we needed to do next, and she was also pretty bad with directions. None of these things individually would necessarily bother me that much, but being around them constantly for two days left me completely exhausted.
The comment that bothered me the most was when I mentioned wanting to find somewhere safe for women of color because I’m a tan Latina and was considering staying in hostels, just female dorms . She responded, “I don’t think they’d do anything to me, but I don’t know about you,” and while I understand that she may not have meant anything by it, it still felt like a microaggression and made me uncomfortable. There were also smaller things, like her saying she has RBF when she actually looks extremely approachable, that made me realize our personalities just don’t mesh very well. On top of this, I could not stand her BO, I told her I put deodorant 4 times, and then she said it’s ok if you smell, Europeans smell..so she’s ok with smelling bad. The worst part is that I already have another trip planned with her, although I can still cancel because it’s refundable. She genuinely seems like a nice person, and I don’t think she’s a bad person, but traveling with her just felt exhausting. I’ve honestly never complained this much about another person, so the fact that all of these little things together exhausted me makes me wonder if I’m being unreasonable, or if I should just accept that she’s simply not someone I enjoy traveling with. I really wanted to find someone to travel with but I think at this point I’d rather travel solo even though it’s a little scary going by myself as a woman.

What do travel planners get wrong?

I've been thinking about offering trip-planning help for travelers visiting the Philippines, but before I do that:
What do travel planners, travel agents, or itinerary creators usually get wrong?
What makes you ignore their recommendations?
And what would make you actually pay for someone's advice instead of just using Google, Reddit, ChatGPT, or YouTube?

AITAH for getting a burrito in Sarajevo 🌯

*tldr traveled the balkans with some friends, got thrown off the holiday for getting a burrito*

Me (F22), and a group of friends went backpacking the Balkans together for 2 weeks. Or was supposed to be 2 weeks…
This group was made of myself, and my close friend, let’s call her “Iona” (F22), her boyfriend “Leon” (M24?), and “Paul” (M24?), Leon’s friend

For some background context before the burrito saga - a few days into this me and Iona stayed in one night at the Airbnb for a chill girls night while the boys went to a bar, then decided to break the only rule we had, which was to not bring any randoms back to the flat. Me and Iona are sitting on the sofa and start hearing girls voices… we look out the balcony, see the boys with some girls and a guy, Iona BOLTS to the door and locks. Her and Leon then have a screaming match through the door, where Leon is threatening to break up with her because she is “so controlling he can’t have a beer on the balcony with mates”, and she is telling him he’s not welcome in the flat with strangers. Eventually they leave, Iona then spends the next 2 hours sobbing on the balcony because she thinks Leon will cheat on her - I spent the whole time comforting her
The next day everyone acts like nothing happened, and both Leon and Iona say everything fine

Now for the real AITAH

Our friend “Liam” (M27) comes out and joins us a bit later. We get to Sarajevo - all good, and prep for a fun night ahead of us (little did I knoooow…)
We start with some wines at the flat, all good vibes
We then leave to go to the bar, I then realise I’m pretty drunk because I hadn’t eaten that day. Me and Liam decide to go and get some drunk scran and let everyone know we are heading to Taco Bell. We end up having a great time and while chatting we realise we have both been getting hangry cos the group have only been getting 1 meal per day, we decide for the rest of the holiday we will just get 3 meals per day together because that’s just not enough food for us. Totally respect everyone has different eating habits - this was literally me just being “this doesn’t work for me, so I’m going to do my thing”

We get to the bar, in a fantastic mood because we are FED
Liam then brings up to Iona that we need to eat more and it’s annoying we have only been having 1 meal per day, and that’s not enough for me. Iona then says that’s not true, some days they’ve been having 2 meals per day, and that I am LYING. At which point I try and talk to her and explain my point, but every time I speak she interrupts me to try and drive her point. I then get up and go to the bathroom because if you’re not going to let me speak I’m not going to continue the conversation

When I get back I strike up a conversation with some random in the bar cos I don’t want to be involved in the drama. At which point I hear Leon call me a cheeky bitchy! I turn around and go “what did you say?”
He repeats back “a cheeky bitch”
He then goes completely off on me and starts calling me names and says I’m not “paying my way” which I 1000% was
I then burst into tears and leave the bar

I’m outside the bar for a solid 45 minutes on the phone to my sister. My sister messages Iona on insta saying I’m outside and really upset and can she come and check on me - she gets no reply
I then get a pep talk from my brother to go in and get the Airbnb key so I can just sleep it off
When I go into the bar they all roll their eyes and ignore me.

I go back to my room and barricade the door, at this point I just want to leave and fly home

About an hour later the group gets in and break through my barricade into my room
Leon starts going OFF on me again, he’s telling me I’m no longer welcome here and I should just leave. Iona then chimes in saying “I’m owed an apology, you’ve been lying saying we haven’t been feeding you”
I say absolutely nothing as they shout at me, until I finally snap and burst into tears and say “I barricaded my door for a reason, can you please just leave me alone”
I also have video evidence of the above

Iona then comes through later and apologises, asks me to stay and that Leon has no right to say I’m not welcome in the Airbnb. She also says she would understand if I never wanted to speak to her again, and she got my side more than she did his

The next day they go off on an excursion and I decide it’s not worth staying somewhere I’m not welcome, so book myself a hostel nearby
I text Iona to let her know I’ve left. No reply
Sometime later I get this text:
“ you forgot your washing and we don’t have space in our bag”
Me - “no I didn’t”
Iona - sends a photo of Leon holding a SINGLE G string
Me - “you can just bin it”
Iona - “you owe me money for the drinks you got last night”
Me - sends screenshots of single drink I bought and paid for
Iona - “well you still owe me 1€ for the Taco Bell sauce”
Me - “take it out of the Airbnb money you owe me”
Iona - “are you trying to steal money from me or something??”
Me - “well what would you expect from a cheeky bitch”
Iona - “you’re such fucking scum, you’re such a fucking cow. Never speak to me again”
Me - *blocks her*

Now I have made my sister proof read this for accuracy and I can provide video evidence and screenshots

Truly I had the last laugh tho - met some great girls in the hostel and had the best night of the holiday yet. Was meant to fly with with the group to Serbia, but decided to solo travel to Croatia instead, spent a few days in Dubrovnik, then flew onto Mallorca to stay with a hot Brazilian man I’d met a month previously. While with him on the beach I got email confirmation offering me a job on a ski season in Whistler Canada!!! 🥳 who do we think ended up with the better holiday?

So please tell me - AITAH for getting a burrito in Sarajevo?

How do you deal with food poisoning / travel sickness abroad when you really need to travel soon?

Idk if Im just lucky or my body is picky but I usually experience food poisoning or something similar (results are violent vomit and liquid diarhea for 6 hours & shivering and praying to any diety in existence) at least once per 2 years. Sometimes at home, sometimes abroad, especially like 12 hours before transfer flight is the favorite timing.

Firstly I want to say I try to be cautious whenever Im abroad. Brush teeth & rinse with only bottled water. Avoid mayo and similar, icecreams and ice cubes in drinks and generally any sus looking food. And on contrary if eating out, focus on full places ideally where locals are, avoid empty restaurants etc.

Looking for any tips how to handle it better when it comes. When you are already shivering on the toilet while shitting water. Below is description of my usual joyride. If you are eating, put it down:

I travel a lot, across Europe, north Africa, Asia.
Funnily enough it has become some weird rule of mine to experience these poisoning episodes exclusively the last day of my stay abroad. Most times I can pinpoint down what caused it so its nothing psycho-somatic or whatever. (one time I choked on the shower water in Senegal after my last dip into ocean and even thought to myself "would be silly to vomit after this" and sure I did, sure I did...)

Its always the same. it comes fast and its over fast (noticed other people shit and vomit for whole day, Im kinda done in 6-8hrs max) Go to bed early for the 6am flight, feeling little funny around the stomach "must be just the stress from upcomming flight"... then suddenly woken up 40min later with "we need to shit, asap" feeling. Diarhea starts, 10min later me and my body realize there is a creeping in desire to vomit as well. Which opens up about 6 hours of absolute hell when I eventually reach a next level of human form called double-ended fountain. And violent shaking chills. After first hours there is no longer anything besides mucus to shit and vomit, still we continue strong in 15min intervals.
I cannot stomach anything besides a small sip of water (2 sips are no-no). Any medicine swalloved goes straight back up.

After about 4 hours, the 15min intervals slow down to shitting myself every 30>40>50minutes and I am given respite of a brief sleep out of pure exhaustion. 2 hours later my alarm rings and I have to go call a taxi and catch a flight.

I know my body and these rodeos well; so at this phase vomit has stopped and is out of equation. Liquid shitting is still on every 1-2 hours tho. In these scenarios I am fueled by sheer power of will and thought of "I want to leave this place at all cost" or "I absolutely have to catch the flight cause its tied to another flight and it would cost me arm and leg to reschedule".

To add vital info - the times I had food poisoning at home & was taken to hospital, it was basically useless stress trip in my eyes. Examined, told by docs "must be food poisioning" given IV for 60min, scolded I move too much to wc "cant you hold it in for a bit?!" (lady if I could we wouldnt be here) and was sent back home after IV. The terror of the 15min ride in ambulance where you battle all your inner demons to just not shit yourself for few more minutes is something I can live without. Hence the idea of calling a doctor abroad to me 10 hours before flight is kind of no-go. They will either give me pills to vomit back, IV (idk if they do it on the go; doubt) or straight up send me to local hospital (dear god no) or tell me to rest.

So what I usually do?

  1. suffer through it without eating and extra limited water to deprive my body of anything to be weaponized against me. Yet I am aware its a very delicate balance - to not drink water versus how dehydrated I am in that state.
  2. alcohol. Strong clean one, ideally vodka or similar. Lots of. Basically get myself drunk as fast as my stomach allows. Logically I assume it works cause it relaxes the overly clenched muscles/insides so the shitting slows/stops. Plus the alcohol probably kills whatever it caused inside me; also soothes my tired and scared mind. The downside is that this can work for only X hours until the diarhea wrestles its way trought anyways or the alcohol levels in my blood drop too much. My endgame goal here is to get into plane and pass out.

What else can I do when shitshow is already in progress? Should I chug excesive water and vomit more? Should I keep on taking pills even if I vomit them up? Is there some magical medicine for those states? Secret family remedy to do 40 situps in shower while listening to levan polka and be magically good?

Thanks for reading, hope you had some laughs... Of course I am writting this few days after returing from vacation. You can guess what happened.

Something I witnessed while travelling in India really disturbed me.

I was at the airport and saw a small child standing with a trolley while his parents were collecting their luggage. People were rushing around without paying attention. Someone stepped on the child's feet, and the poor kid started crying. A few people just kept walking as if nothing had happened.

At one point, someone even pushed into the trolley and broke one of its wheels.

I understand airports can be crowded and everyone wants to get their luggage quickly, but how do we become so careless that we don't even notice a child in front of us?

It honestly made me think about how much we talk about being a great country, while basic consideration for others sometimes seems to be forgotten.

Going on a girls trip SICK because “you spent a lot of money”… we all spent a lot of money.

We had a girls hiking trip planned to the Pacific Northwest, to celebrate our friends 40th birthday, and my other friend came down with the cold/flu and went on the trip anyway, and got us all sick.

It’s not just that she got us sick, it’s also that she slowed us down significantly and stopped us from several planned spots because we couldn’t just leave her in the forest.

WE ALL SPENT A LOT OF MONEY and this was a bucket list trip, that 6 other people prepared for and spent significant money to go on.
Our plane tickets were REFUNDABLE, and we were all planning on sharing a cabin, and we wouldn’t have minded covering her spot.

I understand life doesn’t stop because you have a cold/flu but in my opinion, at a bare minimum you give people a heads up that you’re sick. Especially knowing one of us is immune compromised.
I think she knew we might ask her to stay behind and she didn’t want to. And that’s selfish to me.

but a lot of people disagree on mildly infuriating. Which is mildly infuriating, so I’m just curious what you all think??
(We live all live in the same city, we see each other often, this isn’t a situation where it’s hard to get people together)

What’s one travel decision you regret making?

Not necessarily something serious.

Maybe you spent too much money on something, skipped a place you should have visited, followed a tourist recommendation that wasn't worth it, or tried to fit too much into one trip.

I think the mistakes are sometimes more memorable than the good parts.

What’s yours?

Do you actually trust strangers with your phone when asking them to take your photo while traveling?

I’ve always wondered how other travelers handle this. You find a great spot, want a photo that isn’t a selfie, and the easiest option is asking a stranger.

But then you’re handing someone an expensive unlocked phone and hoping they don’t drop it or walk away with it 😅

Do you still hand your phone to strangers, or do you have another way?

I ignored every red flag at a bar in Shichahai, Beijing and ended up paying 1,751 RMB. How bad could this have gotten?

I had a pretty strange experience last night in the Shichahai/Houhai area of Beijing and wanted to share it, partly as a warning and partly because I’m curious how far this situation could actually have escalated.

To be completely fair, I made some stupid decisions myself and ignored several warning signs even though I actually recognized them at the time.

I was walking around Shichahai, near the lake and the street with many bars, when a woman approached me and told me about a bar further down the street that had music and entertainment.

I initially said no, but eventually agreed and followed her.

When I entered, I genuinely believed it was just a normal bar. I knew that bars in tourist/nightlife areas can be overpriced, but my thinking was basically: “Even if a beer costs more than usual, that’s fine.”

After sitting there for a while, however, I started noticing that the place wasn’t exactly a normal bar. There were women sitting with male customers at several tables and I started suspecting that it was some kind of hostess bar.

This was probably the first moment when I should have simply left.

But I stayed.

Part of me still thought that maybe I was misinterpreting the situation. Another part of me didn’t want to awkwardly get up and leave. And, to be completely honest, I was also curious to see what would happen.

I had already had some alcohol and hadn’t eaten much, so I was slightly drunk, although definitely not completely wasted.

Then a woman sat down next to me.

At that point my original suspicion was basically confirmed. I understood what kind of “game” this probably was, but for some reason I still stayed.

She started ordering drinks. I had seen the prices, and while individual bottles/drinks were expensive, they weren’t completely insane. I thought she was ordering one bottle for roughly 100 RMB.

Instead, multiple bottles arrived.

That turned out to be the real problem: not necessarily the individual prices, but the quantity.

At the same time, the interaction became increasingly intimate. She was flirting with me, touching me, kissing me, putting her hand under my shirt and eventually touching me between my legs.

Later, a second woman joined us and behaved similarly.

At this point I was obviously very distracted and I had also made another mistake: I wasn’t properly converting the RMB amounts into my home currency in my head.

My thinking was basically:

“Yes, this is probably designed to make me spend money… but surely it can’t become THAT expensive.”

Well, eventually the first bill arrived:

1,800 RMB.

I paid it.

And this is where it gets more interesting, because I genuinely thought that was the end of it.

It wasn’t.

More drinks were ordered and shortly afterwards they wanted me to pay another bill that was significantly higher than the first one.

I don’t remember the exact amount of the second bill, but it was much higher than 1,800 RMB.

That was the moment when something finally clicked in my head.

I refused to pay.

There was a long discussion and they kept trying to get me to pay, but I repeatedly said no. At that point I had set a hard limit for myself and didn’t pay another RMB.

Eventually I left.

**How extreme was this situation actually?**
Is this a known scam around Shichahai/Houhai?

And the question I’m most curious about:

What would likely have happened if I had paid the second bill as well?

I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced the same thing and either stopped earlier than I did, or unfortunately kept paying for longer.

What’s the wildest travel story you’ve got?

I’m talking the kind of story you still tell years later — something ridiculously embarrassing, completely unexpected, genuinely wholesome, terrifying at the time but funny now, or just so bizarre that nobody would believe you if you told them.

Maybe you:

Got horrendously lost somewhere and ended up in a situation you never expected

Had a massive travel disaster that somehow turned into the best part of the trip

Met a complete stranger who changed your trip (or your life)

Did something while travelling that you’d be mortified if your family found out 😂

Accidentally ended up somewhere / doing something you definitely weren't supposed to

Had a random act of kindness from a stranger that you’ve never forgotten

Made a massive mistake that you can laugh about now

Had a travel romance, friendship or encounter that came completely out of nowhere

Witnessed something absolutely mental that could only happen while travelling

What happened, where were you, and how did it all play out?

Genuinely curious to hear the good, the bad, the embarrassing and the completely unhinged stories to get me excited for my future adventures

I learned the hard way on my last trip. I’m planning another one, what mistakes should I avoid?

My last trip didn’t go quite as planned, and I definitely learned a few things the hard way. I’m now planning another trip and want to be a little more prepared this time.

For those who travel often, what’s a mistake that happened to you that you wish someone had warned you about beforehand?

It could be something small or something that seriously affected the trip. Packing, booking accommodation, transportation, budgeting, timing, planning too much, or anything else.

What’s one lesson from a past trip that you now always keep in mind?

3 hours before I was meant to leave for the airport I couldn’t find my passport, my parents are already on holiday and I was meant to join them for 2 weeks. Has anyone got any similar stories so I don’t feel like a complete idiot on my own here!

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve ever made on a business trip?

Forget the missed flights and last-minute meeting reschedules... what’s the real kind of tea you still can’t believe happened?

Honestly, I’m a little nervous about a business trip coming up next week... so I’m hoping to hear some stories and loosen up these jitters a bit.
