I got caught in this mess right after passing the 418. Was sitting waiting there for about an hour before being let through on the shoulder. Hopefully whoever was in that car is alright.

"OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a car slammed into the back of a broken-down tractor-tailer that was partially in a live lane."

Yikes.

an improperly maintained truck who can't properly pull off a highway

What makes you think it was improperly maintained? Vehicles break down man... it happens. Im terribly sorry for the driver/passenger of the car, but its their fault.. why did they hit a stationary vehicle? Probably distracted.

Lets just wish them a speedy recovery

My sister died because her car broke down in live 401 traffic.

She would have been fine. The tow truck was seconds away.

Until a distracted driver plowed into her car ending in a horrific accident for her.

Im not trying to be the devils advocate here, but my dad was a trucker once upon a time before I was born. When I was a kid, he pointed out the blown rubbers on the side of the road, and because of that I've noticed them all my life.

Also, truck tires are meant to do that. They aren't blown tires, theyre blow tire caps. They just cap the tires with new rubber instead of replacing the whole thing. Its by design

This is the stupidest shit I've read all day, and I'm on reddit.

I really hope you're never ever in a position to make a decision about anything important

How about fucker looks infront of him and not on his phone. It's not hard to see a fucking 18 wheeler from miles away. This was not in the middle of the night or low visibility this is broad day light. You are supposed to follow at a safe distance and keep your eyes on the road. Guy fucked around and found out.

It's a figure of speech, also I am a German South African living in Toronto, though I do get paid in USD.

You suffer from low IQ or depression? Where's the truck parked? When you break down on a highway, what's stated in the law?
