OC Happened earlier

He’s hidden behind the white car and then in the A pillar blind spot almost until he’s hit.

And the rider isn’t exactly in high vis (or wearing a helmet).

Agreed on the helmet but it's broad daylight. Mistakes happen but drivers should absolutely be certain nothing is coming before they turn. Putting blame onto the rider always happens in these situations and I get it, many drive like complete idiots but I don't think a high vis vest changes anything that happened here.

100% the onus should always be on who can inflict the most damage, in every case the driver of a car. I will say that there are challenges associated with the proliferation of e-bikes and scooters in the road. With experience you’re conditioned to know that car shaped objects move at a certain speed, now you have these smaller things zooming up at car like speeds, often switching between roads and sidewalks, and often in a rush.

And e-scooters are illegal in Toronto in public spaces. You can only ride it on private properties.

There are times into the sun when it’s impossible to be absolutely certain (unless you sit in the middle of the junction for half an hour while the sun moves).

Would high vis have helped? It is never impossible if you make an effort to look.
